Beatriz Martim da Rocha

She is the President of Ilhas Catarinas for the Socialist Party of the Catarin Islands.
Before becoming president she was a councilwoman in São Rodrigo, social activist who campaigned and militated for HIV/AIDS awareness for sex workers and the gay community, according to some researchers her programs lowered new infections by 15 % in the city of São Rodrigo alone.
She also campaigned for homeless workers' rights and created a collective which built their own houses or occupied empty apartments owned by banks or asset hoarding corporations.

She is now running on a progressive platform.

- Lowering the defense budget
- End the war on drugs, decriminalize possession of small quantities and start a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of drug addicts, immediately release inmates charged for small possession.
- Create 10.000 new apartments per year for poor working class families.
- Deter farmers from moving to cities by providing new equipment, biological fertilizers and seeds at much cheaper prices.
- Nationalize further but invite foreign investment by creating lower tax rates for foreign companies.
- Impose a digital tax on big online corporations.
- Ban donations to political parties by religious organizations.
- Criminalize street harassment and punish it with a heavy fine.
- Build neighborhood clinics to make health care more accessible to poorer stratas of society and to reduce pressure on the overwhelmed hospitals.
- Tax incentives for companies who take steps into making their production line more environmentally sustainable.
- Reserve the city centre to public transport and electric cars.

Sergio Mourão

He is the secretary-general of the Catarin National Alliance, he has served in the military for four decades and has the rank of general, he was honourably discharged as his career come to an end for his personal will of entering politics.
He stated that the nation under the left-wing governance is risking to turn into a socialist dictatorship, that family values are being eroded, criminality could rise again to unsustainable levels as the economy might collapse under the weight of the latest social programs.

He is running on a nationalist and conservative-religious platform.

- Increasing military budget
- Taking away some executive powers from governors and give them to the President
- Reinstating tax breaks for religious organizations but this time only christian ones.
- Increase family welfare and make kindergarten fees cheap.
- Lower social assistance wherever possible.
- Privatize certain aspects of health care.
- Increase benefits for veterans.
- Bar trans people and gay men from serving in the military.
- Eliminate gay marriage and scale it down to co-habitation contracts.
- Lower taxes on businesses of any type.
- Move to a flat income tax instead of the actual progressive.

He is the leader of the Democratic Party of the Catarin Islands, he is an economics professor at the Federal University of Canopolis and was CEO of CaixaCat private bank from 2013 to 2016.

He is running on a moderate platform.

- Plan to make urban areas accessible to people with handicaps
- Free internet in most urban areas by 2022.
- Balanced budget.
- Spending cuts/ Austerity measures.
- Voluntary early retirement option, with smaller retirement check.
- Possibility of putting the retirement plan in private investment funds.
- Lower taxes on small and medium businesses.
- Privatize most state companies.

He is the leader of the Communist Party of the Catarin Islands, he is an artist, historian and former guerrilla fighter during the military dictatorship

He is running on a marxist progressive platform.

- Nationalizing all automation and lowering the weekly workweek to 36 hours.
- Establishing full workplace democracy in state companies and experiment it in private companies.
- Increase the minimum wage to $ 550 per month.
- Establishing Neighborhood Civic Committees overseeing local bureaucracy and managing water resources, utilities.
- Promoting urban gardening and agricultural self-sufficiency
- Make all public education fully free of charge
- Retrain police and military police and establish community outreach programs.
- Make the progressive income tax, more progressive.

- Make the use of Catarin Creole more prominent and upgrade it to co-official language.

He is the leader of the Christian Union of the Catarin Islands-Social Right, he is an evangelical preacher and former personal doctor of the last military dictator of the country

He is running on a conservative religious platform.

- Making christianity the official religion of the state
- Establish a Christian advisory body to consult before passing laws, give them few senatorial powers and let them be elected by the protestant and catholic clergy.
- Ban gay marriage
- Ban reassignment surgery
- Arrest members of atheist, communist parties and organizations
- Subsidize christian religious organizations
- Give tax breaks to christian religious organizations.
- Privatize the economy
- Give natalist economic incentives for newborns.

He is the leader of the New Catarin Democracy, he is a banker, investor, golf enthusiast and one of the richest politicians of the country, he's quite reserved.

He is running on a classical liberal platform.

- Take away contractual power from trade unions
- Abolish minimum wage to make the country more competitive and create new types of occupation so to lower unemployement
- Abolish bureaucracy-choked useless institutions
- Decrease the number of ministries
- Reserve 50 % of federal and state legislative chambers to women
- Invest in IT and research and take away subsidizes in most of the other sectors.
- Enforce LGBT anti-discrimination laws nationwide
- Become a major exporter of energy

The threshold is 2.5 %, but if a candidate wins a majority in the college seats he'll get his seat nevertheless.

Two systems are used, one is the party-list representation in which political parties present a list of potential deputies with the first in the list being the preferred to get a seat in the parliament, 246 deputies are elected with this system.

The other system is a PFTP college system, in which the candidate to gain the most votes in a certain area wins the seat reserved for the area, 246 deputies are elected with this system.

8 seats are nominated by the President.

The Greens and ''The South List'' will run although the latter will run only in some southern constituencies.
I haven't included them to avoid them getting a large share in the parliament.

PSIC increased its presence in parliament although it didn't gain an absolute majority.

The UCIS-DS lost all its parliament seats.

President Beatriz Martim da Rocha, thanked the people for the strong support to the PSIC and said that it was a response to the good job the PSIC administration did.

Sergio Mourão stated that there was fraud and that he won the elections, and that he'll request an audit and rereading of the vote.
UCIS-DS leader supported Mourão's statement and said that their party was too a victim of the alleged fraud.

All other candidates congratulated Beatriz Martim da Rocha for her victory.
