It's Thursday night and you know what that means? The Big Reveal: Estogium was on and they revealed the act for Estogium at the World Hit Festival in Bovingdon. Estogium is the last ABEN nation to reveal their entry, with Estogium opting for female singer-songwriter, Adelene Rayas. The 33 year old from V'Estograd in the Northwest of the country is hoping to do even better than Estogium did last edition, and has high hopes for her entry. Last edition, Estogium achieved a stellar third place, the nation's second best result, but highest points haul to date (36 points). Here's hoping she gives Estogium their first victory!

Rule Clarification

After speaking about whether Semi-Finals would be a possibility with a former overseer, they said that it's good to maybe start to look into it. I've decided to have a look at the rules to make sure that everything is in order before the festival officially begins today. I believe that now is better than any time to be clarifying a rule - it's better now than mid-contest. This has only been something I noticed now.

In the event of there being 35 or more complete entries, the top 5 from last edition (including the host) will qualify automatically to the Grand Final.

This rule was put in place only last edition, but of course due to there only being 24 entries in the end, it wasn't a rule we needed to worry about. After going through the maths of how many will qualify depending on how many nations participate, I believe that the 35 or more complete entries should refer to entries that aren't that of the host's. This aligns correctly with the lower limit for Semis (aka 26 nations without the host, or 13 per semi). The clarification means that in order for the top 5 to go through, 36 entries (plus the host because I will participate) will have to compete. The lowest number that can participate without the top 5 not qualifying is 35 nations (which includes two Semis of 18 and an automatic qualifier of the host - which makes sense, doesn't it?)

In highlight of the mistake, I will also say that the Top 5 doesn't include the host, so the host + the nations that finished 2nd to 6th (North Alezia included) will qualify if SOMEHOW we receive that many entries.

Regardless, this rule doesn't change much, but I would like to make sure it's correct just in case one day WHF does grow to this size. I would love to see a Big 5 + Host thing going on but it all depends on everyone of us competing.

Edit: I meant plus, two semis of 18 is 36 not 35, silly me.

A new listenalong!
The first thing that I would like to announce to you guys is that I have had a chat to some of those who unfortunately aren't able to join us at the usual listenalongs due to timezones, I've decided that I will be running an OFFICIAL listenalong during the day in my time - which I am more than honoured to do. We've collectively decided on a time that would suit everyone and hopefully those who can't come to the Europe & Americas listenalong will come along to this one...

This is of course before the listenalong for the Europe & Americas and so the end of this listenalong will mark the opening of the IC Thread. Now this listenalong (along with the one at 21:00 BST one) is for either the Semi-Finals - if enough participate - or the main show if there's only one main show. Please do come to the Europe & Americas (and Africa!) listenalong at 20:00 BST for a celebratory listenalong - but also because I want you to hear my Opening/Interval Acts! and straight after, if things go well, I will reveal at least the first half of the points so it feels like a proper show.

I'll be conducting all listenalongs will graphics and all, don't worry! If, for whatever reason, I'm not able to do it, I'll ask someone else to conduct it for me.

If you're a proper WHF fan and have nothing to do in your life like me, feel free to come to all the listenalongs if you can. It's up to you. If you're okay with the current times, stick to 'em.

The Show - Preparing for Bovingdon
I have done a lot of work behind-the-scenes to make sure that this Festival will be one you won't forget - I'm purely trying to avenge my WHF49 hosting - don't have a look. I've done loads of RP, with some RPs to look forward to being available.

World Hit Festival 53 has some information about the Opening & Interval Acts of the 53rd World Hit Festival and I will be improving that as the Festival goes on.

I've also started to contact some people (namedly some of those who have started to chuck some lyrics onto their Draft Thread post) about participating in the Carpool Karaoke. I'll probably need a (couple) pictures of your act(s) if I've contacted you, and I'll get back to you with some questions soon. I have calculated that a minimum of eight acts will be able to participate in Carpool Karaoke - this number will be much higher depending on interest.

If I haven't yet contacted you, it's because I'm waiting for a more completed entry from you but if you're sure you're participating, feel free to shoot me a telegram/DM on discord (I'll reply quicker!) and I'll sign you up for that in my mind.
