The Monarch Protection Initiative

The Monarch Protection Initiative (MPI), is a program of the Knights of Umbra, where deposed and or rescued monarchs are brought to live in a territory controlled by the order and supported to start a new life. Not all deposed, exiled or abolished monarchies are admissible, however. The requirements of the MPI must first be met before a monarch and his or her successors are admitted into the MPI.

Aside from providing physical protection for MPI covered persons, the knights also professionally manage wealth and assets that are brought under the MPI. This include the movable and immovable property of MPI covered persons, which may be reinvested through the many financial channels of the order, thus ensuring that MPI covered persons have sufficient resources to support themselves as they transition into the MPI.

Considering the sensitivity of the mission of the order, the Monarch Protection Initiative provides several requirements before an applicant monarch and his or her successors are admitted into the program. These are extensively reviewed and evaluated by the MPI Processing Committee before they are eventually handed over to the MPI Screening Committee which is the responsible for approving or denying applicants. Admitted monarchs and or their successors are then resettled in special properties located across the different territories controlled by the order. These properties are beautiful, luxurious, safe and private residential estates with very strict entry and exit controls. Only MPI admitted persons, their guests and other authorized persons by the order are allowed insided these highly manicured towns of monarchs.

The Knights of Umbra is a chivalric order founded by the Lord Emperor primarily for the care and protection of family and friends. The new charter of the order has redefined its mission, to focus on the care and protection of monarchs and their successors who were deposed and or are in danger of being persecuted in their countries.Deposed monarchs or those from countries who abolished their monarchical offices, are eligible to be admitted to the Monarch Protection Initiative (MPI), a program of the order where they rescue and or resettle monarchs in one of the knights' controlled territories, where they are allowed to start a new beginning. Not all deposed, exiled or abolished monarchies are admissible, however. The requirements of the MPI must first be met before a monarch and his or her successors are admitted into the MPI.

The Knights of Umbra is considered a subject of international law. Although its leadership is ultimately accountable to the Emperor, the order is for the most part considered independent. It was the Empire who first recognized this special independence of the order. The knights then expanded their diplomatic network, forging bilateral relations with other States and international organizations.

Q. What is this thread, basically?
A. The Monarch Protection Initiative of the Knights of Umbra is simply a character maintenance thread, which takes on the monarch and their accompanying successors ("characters", of players who want to transition their country into some democratic or republican one without having to ICly kill or OOCly retcon their monarchical characters. The MPI is sort of a luxury retirement for these characters of yours, where they will be taken care of.

Q. Which characters can I apply for the MPI?
A. Monarchs who are deposed by another person who illegitimately takes the throne/by a popular uprising/by a military coup/by the invasion of another country/by the abolition of the monarchy are able to apply and be admitted, assuming they pass the other qualifications. Aside from the monarch, the consort and their children and other successors may also apply.

Q. What other qualifications are there aside from the MPI being open for monarchs?
A. I plan on coming up with a IC list, but for now, I will reject monarchs/players whose nations are at war with mine; monarchs/players who committed in game violations, monarchs/players who in character have knowingly and freely committed and or authorized the commission of a crime or crimes against humanity as listed under RL Article 7 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Aside from these, monarchs/players who represent hateful ideologies whether ICly or OOCly will also be not admitted.

Q. What happens to my ("characters") once they are admitted into the MPI?
A. They are ICly brought into one of the residential properties under MPI, where they live safe, comfortable lives. They mingle with their other monarch neighbors, hold parties, send their children to our prestigious schools, start new business ventures, or relax and write their memoirs.

Q. Will there be roleplays of the rescue of the monarchs?
A. That is the plan eventually, although considering my schedule at the moment, roleplay for this project's purpose will be largely limited to processing and recording approved applications for the most part.

Q. Will I get my characters back?
A. As a rule, no. Once you admit your characters into the MPI, you sign off their control to me. The MPI is sort of a glorified retirement tool for your monarch characters. However, I am not entirely against to returning characters to their former players/nations, but such arrangement would have to be negotiated clearly. Preferably, if a player only intends to park his or her character, such intention should be communicated to me alongside the filling up of the relevant MPI forms?

Frog Creek, CLASSIFIED TERRITORY 2

is a colorful and buzzing little town that nestles on the banks of Frog Creek, from which it got its name. From spring to autumn the town has a festive air, helped by the colorful bunting strung across its streets. Amply shaded by trees and cooled by the nearby waters of the creek, residents enjoy cycling and hiking around and about with walks in the woods particularly in summer. The town has several heritage buildings that predate that arrival of the Knights of Umbra, foremost of which is the Fronsay Chateau which functions as the reception, orientation and first lodging of MPI covered persons who will be residing in Frog Creek.

Its beautiful castle has elegant and airy en-suite bedrooms. It features an outdoor heated swimming pool, a tennis court and business facilities. Continental breakfast is available at an additional cost, as are facilities for those who want to fix breakfast themselves.
