The reason I did not do so is because in the past I have been explicitly told that mods have no jurisdiction over things when they are taken outside of NS (even an NS-related issue). As this began on Discord I was merely of the view that it wouldn’t have been actionable - as I have been told in the past. So it’s not quite as clear-cut as that.

And please let's not spill a drama unrelated to WHF completely into WHF. I'd really appreciate that for my own sanity. Let's just all participate and have fun :)

Thanks for more info Titaniumland!

Hi everyone!

Thank you for signing up for the 52nd World Hit Festival. We certainly have a lot of interest this time 'round, and we might even have semifinals if there are enough complete entries on the draft thread by this time next week

So I just wanted to say a few things:

1. Regardless of whether or not we have semifinals, all participating acts for this edition will take part in a group song called "Shine a Light". The lyrics are already available on the second post on the draft thread (alongside other planned opening and interval acts). There's not really much you need to do on this end; I'll take care of the whole performance and will RP your performers based on how you describe them in your respective entries (even then it won't be more than 1-2 lines so it really isnt' a big deal).
I'm just letting you guys know about this ahead of time. Also, ICly this group song will be sold as a charity single.

2. Due to the volume of interest we have for this edition of the festival, I more likely than not will have simpler title cards instead of my originally planned postcards. However, I will still use the images that you have submitted for the opening act and may find other ways to make use of them, so don't feel discouraged from continuing to submit your landmarks!

3. If your country has no COVID-19 restrictions, and if your country will have public viewing parties, please let me know (preferably on Discord but TG is fine). The plan is to have audio from these parties being supplied into the sound feed, so that at the end of each entry there will be cheering that comes live from WHF spectators in respective participating countries.
If this is a bit hard to grasp, think of it as similar to Eurovision 2003, where they showed footage of crowds watching the show in different countries in Europe after the end of some of the entries. Or how every year, the votes of Germany are announced in front of a live crowd. That's kinda what I'm going after here.

4. ICly, your entrants, delegations, and press members all arrived in Monterra no later than this past weekend. Currently, they are all undergoing mandatory quarantine.

5. I'm excited to see the entries we'll have this time next week. Great work so far, but please keep working on them!

Thank you and see you soon in Monterra!

Voting is now OPEN for all participants of the 52nd World Hit Festival. Let's have a refresher on the voting mechanisms for this edition:
Kalosia wrote:La votažio | Voting
The voting segment is planned to take place in 2 phases. If it turns out that, after Phase II, there is a tie, the regular tiebreak procedures will be followed, though the organizers do not deem it necessary to designate the process as a third phase.

Phase I
In Phase I, we will visit the spokespersons of the participating countries, who will announce the recipient of the nation’s top marks — 5 points. In light of this, participating countries will be asked to submit an image of their spokesperson as well as any desired dialogue. The host, Kalosia, reserves the right to modify such dialogue; major changes will be communicated to the affected user.
If this voting system was implemented during the most recent WHF, Kalosia and Tödlichebujoku would have jointly topped the leaderboard with 15 points each, and with half of nations yet to receive points at all.

Phase II
In Phase II, each country will receive the remaining total of points they have yet to receive. This will be announced by the host, starting from the country with the least Phase II votes, up to the country with the most Phase II votes. The voting breakdown of each country’s received votes will be shown.
Again, if this voting system was implemented during the most recent WHF, the host would begin with the Fatiman Federation’s points and the last results to be announced would be those of Togonistan. When Togonistan’s votes are announced, the screen would show that the country had received 4 points from Kalosia, 3 points each from Normandy & Picardy, Antenovaria, Lagoa, and Natanya, 2 points from Vartugia, and 1 point from the Fatiman Federation, Petroslovania, and Teesdexxia.

To vote, please compile a full ranking of the entries and send them by TG to Fromulya or through Discord to intergalacticwifi#2746. Your Top 5 will be converted into points. You cannot vote for your own country.
I would appreciate if you also send me a picture of your spokesperson and their details, as well as any comments they will make when they reveal your nation's 5 points, if you wish.

The deadline is Monday, June 29th, 2020 @ 3pm EST / 8pm BST / 9pm CET.
Please let me know if you have further questions or need an extension.

Listenalong Info

We will have a listen-along of all the entries on Tuesday, June 23rd 2020 @ 3pm EST / 8pm BST / 9pm CET. This show will take place on our Discord server (link in OP). And for the first time, in a twist, I plan to be providing some live commentary of the show, including personally introducing all of the entries as they are played.

I'm hoping to make this as fun as possible, and you are welcome regardless of whether you are participating or not. See you there!

Hi El Kadsreian Brazil,

I'm sorry that you feel upset that a country you have conflict with is participating in the World Hit Festival. However, if you wish to participate in this RP, please do so respectfully and consider as well that this event goes far beyond your own IC qualms.

Furthermore, the IC thread largely pertains to the show itself, I think you might find it helpful to discuss external events in a more appropriate location elsewhere. Here, maybe. On that note, I'll have to have your post taken down as it interferes with the show without my expressed consent as the contest host.

Best of luck with your conflict!

Host of the 52nd World Hit Festival

Hi everyone!

The listenalong was a blast, thanks for everyone who was able to be there.

Just letting you know that I've completed the postcards for all entries and have updated the IC thread accordingly. While you're at it, definitely check out the opening and interval acts if you haven't already.

Feel free to post commentary if your country is broadcasting the show — having meticulously read and listened to all the entries I can say for sure that it's a very strong show this edition and you guys deserve all the praise.

And please if you haven't already, get those votes in! At this point I've already received more than half of them already, and I can tell you we are going to have an exciting voting segment!

As always, if you have any questions feel free to ask me, here on the thread or by TG or on Discord.

Once again best of luck to all participants!

Hello again!

At this point, voting is closed. Thank you everyone who has submitted their votes. For those of you who did not, worry not — as is practice, your votes have been made up in a way that does not affect the placings of any entry.

We now have a final result. And in light of this, I am glad to announce the schedule for the voting reveal. All of these will take place in the afternoon-evening of the day in Eastern Standard Time. No set time because my schedule can change suddenly and I don't want to promise anything I can't guarantee.

Wednesday, July 1: Phase I part 1
1. Britonisea*
2. Normandy & Picardy
3. Waisnor
4. Estana & Thaos
5. Togonistan
6. Mercedini
7. Izmedu
8. Caryton
9. Fromulya
10. Achaean Republic
11. Estogium
12. Skanden

Thursday, July 2: Phase I part 2
13. Besen
14. Titaniumland
15. Beepee
16. Axuva
17. Northwest Kalactin
18. Ertzei Kishim
19. Lons
20. North Alezia
21. Malta Comino Gozo
22. Lushansk
23. Mister X
24. Kalosia**

Friday, July 3: Phase II part 1
The 12 countries who got the lowest accumulated total of 1-4 points.

Saturday, July 4: Phase II part 2***
The 12 countries who got the highest accumulated total of 1-4 points. The winner will be announced.

A lot of work is being done behind the scenes to ensure the show will be as exciting as possible. Keep an eye out as further details may be announced as we get closer to Phase I.

See you soon!

* Reflecting ESC tradition, I would have invited previous host Tödlichebujoku to announce their top points first. As they are not participating, I thought it'd make sense to make previous winner Britonisea go first.
** Reflecting ESC tradition, the host country will announce their top points last. Other than the first and last country, which is preset, the rest of the voting order of Phase I has been determined in a way intended to make the voting as exciting as possible.
*** This is also the IC date of the contest.

Hi everyone,

If you have seen the IC thread, some of you may be confused with the bit of drama occurring during the Maltese vote. There was a little error on my end and, while I am now working behind the scenes to fix that, I saw that there was an opportunity to create a bit of IC drama and have communicated with the concerned nation (namely Malta Comino Gozo) regarding this. I posted this shortly after the Maltese vote was announced, this isn't the last of it but rest assured this will be sorted out by the time Phase II begins.

On that note, it turns out that I have errands to take care of tomorrow (Friday) so I unfortunately will have to shift the schedule around a bit. As a result, Friday will now be an off day and the entirety of Phase II will be announced on Saturday, July 4 beginning at 8pm BST/9pm CET/3pm EST. I have something great planned for the Phase II reveal so I hope you will be around to see the votes unfold.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, but I thank you for your patience and hope that you can continue to enjoy the show.

Cheers!

Hey everyone! First off I'd like to start by saying well done to Kalosia for hosting the World Hit Festival. I know you had a lot of drive to make this Festival a successful one and in the end, I think you did yourself some good! The scoreboards were also very nice. I just wanna also say a well done to everyone, especially Izmedu and Normandy and Picardy for making the top 3 (of users) too. I'd actually like to reach out to Ach, Bes and Merc specifically as well because those three did top my rankings (75/80 to Ach, 72/80 to Bes and Merc - but because of the way I ranked, while it added up to 6, 5 and 5 points respectively, it might not have seemed as though my favourites were in that order......but anyway). I honestly am waiting for one of you three (and certainly some other uprising stars of the WHF) to win and I most certainly hope you all are planning your next World Hit Festival entry - wherever we go.

I am not going to lie, after I saw the results for the 51st WHF, while (in reality) the placement was alright, it did shock me lol! I think Tobu made the joke that I was writing at my next entries when I was a bit silent after WHF51 and while that wasn't necessarily true, I do think that night I did begin to write my next entries. My WV82 entry was the first entry I wrote and initially, I was 100% going to send "Prominence" to WHF. Though I found LEON's song and it got me in the feels. When I look back at some of my WHF, the ones that won in Kalosia actually, they all seemed to be personal stories and so I decided that I'd go down that route again, using the same person I wrote about for my WHF42 win "When Our Eyes Meet" for this -- really hope you get the connection; When Our Eyes Meet I'm Tongue-Tied so I guess it's kind of like the second part of that song so I'm thrilled it's gone on to do well. I then ofc sent "Prominence" to Ertzei Kishim and well, yeah! Seems like that was a bloody good idea innit? As for Estogium's song, 'Lordly' has been saved for months and months and I thought that since Estogium is going on a hot boy tries to seduce you through the cameras vibe recently, I thought this would be perfect to send as a follow up. I didn't expect Esto to do so well so I'm actually really grateful for that.

For those of you who have yet to win or waiting for a win...please, I urge you to keep on trying, to keep on going. There's space for everyone to succeed and do well and don't let any of these results get you down - or just do a me and either write a song about disappointed your are, or how in love you are with something - always seems to work. I've had to do a lot of work to get where I am over the past 6 years since I first participated, went through all the trials and tribulations, but still competed even if once upon a time a Britonish win wasn't ever considered by anyone. I really enjoyed the quality of the contest this edition...I really did and I hope its kept up for next edish!

Anyway! Right! So! I've been preparing a little something over the past few days (I've only told like one person and no, it's not related to a win at WHF necessarily haha) and so wondering whether we'd be up for me to share that tonight?

Thanks again!

Of course, congratulations to Britonisea for winning the contest yet again on Kalosian soil! Your entry was amazing and I 100% think it deserved the win.

Also, I've worked super hard on making sure I can provide my best hosting yet, and I have to say that I really think this is the best RP I've hosted so far in my 8+ years here on NationStates. Thanks Brit for the kind words, and more importantly thank you so much to everyone who have participated and helped make this Festival a success. I sincerely hope you enjoyed the show, and I can't wait to see what happens next for the 53rd Festival!
