Shanhara felt like this encounter was awkward; so to ease the awkwardness with potentially his future classmate; he decided to agree to go visit this establishment she talked about, “Of, course I’ll visit”, he mostly wanted to seem nice. He had no idea whether this foreign fast food restaurant was going to be good or not.

When Julia woke up from her nap, she found Clara's note perched across her stomach. Giving it a hasty scan, she smiled to herself and texted Clara an affirmative, I'm awake now. Thanks for letting me know you left! Enjoy your walk !

With that, she turned off the television. It was just the same cycle of news stories that had been playing all morning anyway; what else would she glean from it? Besides, she was relying on English subtitles because she'd been too lazy to find the BBC or some other English-speaking network. What was that one American...oh, why did it matter.

Julia glanced in the direction of the bedroom she and Clara shared. Her suitcase and boxes were piled in the corner, her fencing gear reverently lying in a separate pile. This was supposed to be an adventure. An international experience. But it had turned out to be...well. Peculiar.

Sharifistan was a nice nation. Its capital, cosmopolitan and picturesque. The people, friendly. She was just...on edge. Still not fully acclimated to the time change, hence the accidental hour-long nap. Definitely apprehensive to meet her new schoolmates.

Unsure what else to do, Julia finally opted to join the school's networking site.

They drove to Edric the flashing lights of sirens filling the air.
“Hands up!” says a Captain armed with an anti-dodge gun.

She turns to look at them, which of course caused the 30-foot pane of glass she was holding to swing over and knock them out. The sound of the glass hitting their helmets made 15 gonging noises like a clock chiming the time, making Clark very confused. She wondered why they'd all spontaniusly fainted, and then continued on her way.

50 more Special Operations vans drove to the scene.
After that the traffic police set up road blocks and Riot Units patrol the streets.
Apparently they were misdirected.

Clark paused his fiddling with the cell phone. He'd been trying to get free internet, but it looks like he'd accidentally messed up the GPS system, so the Special Operations units would currently be surrounding a local donut bakery which was having a sale. Oops. If it's any consolation it's probably where the police wanted to go anyways, and the donuts were delicious.

The Royal Madinat Al-Islam Infantry drive their 1/2 APCs towards Edric Ashleigh's location.
They point their anti-dodge guns at him "surrender!"
All Reserves have been called up and conscripts are returned to street patrol.

Unfortunately, Beth had dropped her 30-foot pane of bullet-proof glass, which made for an excellent ice patch in the middle of the road, so the military vehicles didn't stop when they reached Edric's location. It looks like the Infantry would be joining Clara and Shanhara for some fast food, since there didn't seem to be much else they could do, not with their vehicles blocking the remains of the restaurant's front window and only door like a plug. Clark thought it was a shame, if the 15 gongs were military time then it would be around 3, and he could have used some lunch. Clark thought about how he could use all those car parts. It wouldn't be as if they would be needing them, not after what running over a pane of glass had done for their tires, or running into a building had done for their structure. He could really use those bolts... and those break clamps... and that transmission...

Shanhara saw that someone was blocking the restaurant he had wanted to go to. He noticed that they were heavily armed so he decided to wait until the situation cooled down before entering this new fast food joint that he just learned about.

Julia studied the message. What in the world could she tell this (admittedly really cute) virtual stranger? She inhaled and DM'd him, Yeah. Just freaked out, I guess.

What else was there to tell him? She couldn't reveal the truth, not really, especially not in the midst of this chaos. Could she even tell her parents?

No. Not yet. It could be someone with the same name, someone....

Julia shut her eyes and pictured the girl as she remembered her from two years ago. Her clothes rumpled, her hair coming out of its braid, a rolling pin in her left hand and pistol in her right. Julia, pressed against the wall, shaking, and her adversary lunging, lunging--

Then, she disappeared. Melted into the shadows as foreign soldiers rushed to Julia's aid. And Julia was escorted out of the palace, out of Western Fardelshufflestein, without any third party knowing the truth.

And now her silence was coming back to punish her.

They should probably exit the street as soon as they can, which shouldn't be too hard - the exit's that way... or maybe it's that way... hmmmmm.

The soldiers chase after Clarke, assuming it's his fault.

Clark could see that the military had managed to get their trucks moved out of the ruins of the restaurant front. Considering the trucks were non-functional that was pretty impressive, they must have all gotten out and pushed, which while not being the brightest idea, was still better than being trapped in a building and slowly poisoned by rising carbon monoxide levels. Clark would have just shut the motor off and turned the kitchen exhaust fan on to clear away the gas. They were chasing after him now. Clark was well experienced with running from soldiers, especially after that domino incident with the missiles when he'd been a military engineer in HIreland. These guys didn't seem all that bright, every time they had failed to bring down Edric they had just used the same plan again but with more guns. Clark was good enough at science to know that carbon monoxide was lighter than air, especially after coming out of a hot engine, so he would be safest from it in the storm-drain system. He lifted a drain cover and dropped safely below the gas level. He crawled through the pipe, pushing his box of parts in front of him, the newly added car parts reading "not the property of the Sharifistani military", with the "not" in permanent marker. He's like to see the soldiers try crawling through this pipe. There were times being built like a beanpole came in handy. All he had to do was get out of the local area, it was unlikely that the soldiers would bother him later, not with all they had going on at the moment. They should be trying to get out of the street, and dropping down into a drainage system to follow him was the last thing they wanted to do, unless they wanted to be stuck in a pit next to a pipe they couldn't fit through with carbon monoxide starting to diffuse down as it cooled. Clark turned a corner in the pipe and began heading in the direction of the school. He hoped he'd have a chance to work that idea he'd had for a caner cure. He'd tried suggesting it but his proposal had been rejected for including the word "awesome" too many times. Hopefully the school would re-open soon and then he could get to work. There wasn't much point in being here if there wasn't a school.
