St. Peadrus MacCallion EXPRO - Physical Education

Postby Folaisia » Sat Apr 11, 2020 4:45 am

OOC: Kudos to Holy Marsh in coming up with the idea of having each class in their respective thread!

St. Peadrus MacCallion Exchange Program

Period 1: Physical Education

Image

The basketball court was lit up to reveal a stainless court floor and an unblemished interior. Alongside the clear morning sky, this seemed to relax most students who were standing or meandering towards the growing batch. Facing them are two teachers, all of which were vibrant and livened up as the lights shining high.
Image

Thomas MacIver, kind-hearted and cheerful as his radiant blonde hair. Something that female students would admire. A native of Tominthoul, he had grown up with friends that were rowdy and wild in the past. Since then, Thomas had learned to control himself.

Image

Finella MacNeil - brunette, supportive and assertive. Another Tominthoul resident, not much of a surprise when she would tell you. She possesses fists that have seen plenty of fights, and one can say that she is a practitioner of martial arts. Her eyes radiated and burned with determination along with her grin, all with sensational energy; compared to Thomas, you can say she displays it more.

Seeing most students have gathered, Thomas called for their attention, to which Finella thanked him for.

"Now, I understand that we have exchange students in our midst. Awfy exciting to see new faces here," Finella chimed, "I hope you lot have slept well from your way here, because we about to partake activities that'll give your body a nice bolsterin' intake for your physical health, and I don't want ye to stuff your brightest faces on the ground like God has switched your body off.

"Now that introductions have been settled with, it's time to get you lot into the action. To start off, we'll get your legs and body up and awake by joggin' around the court in four laps. Let's head on off, lads and lassies!"

After seeing the students off, Thomas walks up to Finella with a straight mouth.

"Remember, Finella. Tone it down," he persuaded.

"I know, love," she nodded.

"Suuentliok nos Karelminor. Domaine N'klaa, Nui-Velstur, Velstrania. 7 ft 1.5 inches tall, 18 stone 2 pounds in weight, Human being. Is that enough information on what I am, or would you like to know my date of birth, last medical check results, relationship status and academic and personal progress statement?"
As she finished however, the teachers called the group to order, thank God. She stood to attention, and hearing the instruction began to run.

It would be better if the run occurred outside in the forest, Suuentliok knew, but she took joy in running anyway. Her lean and muscular body began to eat up the ground in front of her, and a grin of satisfaction appeared on her face: when the 4 laps were over with, she was kind of annoyed: she'd prefer more. Luckily she knew this was just a warm-up.

"Velstrania? You're a Velstranian?" Stephen blinked, then looked at her eyes -- a tall order, both literally and as a figure of speech. "I see. I --"

Seeing most students have gathered, Thomas called for their attention, to which Finella thanked him for.

As she finished however, the teachers called the group to order, thank God. She stood to attention, and hearing the instruction began to run.

Seeing her relax at the sudden imposition of authority, Stephen gritted his teeth, but went on anyway, if in a darker tone than before, "That actually explains a few things, including your figure. See you, Velstranian."

He turned his back on her, and focused on the task ahead, or tried to... only this time, instead of that still small obsession with etymology providing the distraction, it was something else.

Questions, so many questions.

Dark questions, foreboding questions, questions that should've been forgotten, questions what would've been left alone with the new scenery.

Worst it indeed was.

Taking a couple of seconds to process Suuentliok's name and how it was actually supposed to be said, a very small boy clattered right into her, a boy that even Emmanuelle herself was comfortably a foot taller than. Between the mixture of coffee and orange juice she had witnessed at breakfast, and the giant and the dwarf here on the basketball court, she almost wondered if the alcohol she'd shared with Lechle last night had been spiked with hallucinogens or not, or indeed whether she was actually awake at all and this wasn't all part of a wildly realistic yet strange dream. Pinching herself to check, she then decided to look around the rest of the court to see if there were any other odd things happening, her eyes falling on Lechle and another boy who was with him, smiling in their direction before jogging along at a leisurely pace like she had been asked to, resolving to end up close enough to Lechle by the end of the four laps so they could have a quick chat before any basketball got underway.

Having observed the blonde giantess from afar both last night and this morning, Verity decided that it'd be best that she work to befriend her. Verity didn't make it her mission to go around provoking conflicts everyone she met, and aside from often being eager to pour metaphorically gasoline on metaphorically fires, Verity liked to believe that she was a friendly person.

So as the students jogged, Verity did her best to keep up with the giant girl without overextering herself, after all, when the real gamez began, she wanted to be ready embarrass her competition. After the laps concluded, Verity approached the girl and introduced herself:

"Hi, I'm Verity Nicholas, a fellow exchange student. What's your name?" Said Verity with a sincere smile, though was not completely thrilled that she had to physically look up at this girl, Verity was used to looking across, or, preferably, down.

Luckily, despite having spent much time in her room earlier conversing with his sister on the phone, Mary managed to make it for the PE period at the exact moment. Soon, the red-headed princess, 1.68 metres tall stood joyful among the other students. The first task, which was to jog around the court in 4 laps proved relatively normal for the young Mary, as she herself had taken up sports thanks to her energetic twin brothers and sister. While a few familiar faces among the crowd caught her eye, she decided to hold the interaction for now. Upon being ordered to do so, Mary quickly went along with the rest of the students, her feet carrying her in the respective direction.

Four laps, four measly laps. Not even a good centered number like five. Rocco thought it was child's play, and maybe some here thought so as well, but he did what was asked of him, better than nothing. He departed from Detlef and commenced to jog with the other students, soon to be done with his laps, he waited for further instructions. Looking around for his sister, he spotted her sitting off to the side.

Ludoviga sat off to the sidelines, watching her classmates' interactions. Her brother talking with some younger looking boy, a really really tall girl or something, and la vacca puttana striking up a conversation with the giant. And Siobhán getting to know that overly energetic kid Ajay. When she saw that the jogs were done, she saw Rocco looking for her. When he saw her, she waved at him.

After changing into his PE uniform, Larsa took some time to stretch before being told to jog around the room four times. Perhaps it was because this class was the first thing in the morning, but five or six...maybe even ten would be a good warm up. But since he was still digesting breakfast, any leniency would be appreciated. Almost a hundred-seventy centimeters, he was taller than some, but was still dwarfed by the lass "Suuentliok". Still there was some sociability between people, some Lux Pulchreans conversing with the brown haired lass that was a target of Khalil's charms getting together with that tall woman. For now, he was perfectly fine with jogging next to the red-haired Princess Hanover.

"Good morning." he began, hoping that today would be a good morning.

Sophomore, Lechle "Detlef" Capelle
St. PMC. High School - Grangemouth, Dalmashiel, Folaisia.
/ / / / /
(XX/03/2020) - Morning
The teachers weren't as intimidating as Lechle expected. They were young and beautiful, could probably pass as students if they wanted to. He hoped their personalities matched their appearances. Lechle didn't want to be harassed by a dysfunctional boomer with a knack for drilling kids like Sergeants drill formations. He began slowly jogging the mandatory four laps, making sure to stick with the pack of students as they rounded the court before ending up next to the girl from Connuriste.

Lechle eyed the girl's uniform up and down as she pulled up alongside him, pitifully failing to be subtle, following up with a quick expression to avoid interrogation.

"... I see you're handling the hangover better then I am. You must be a professional."

He stated in a joking tone, but perhaps it was matter-of-factly.

Emmanuelle was pleased to see that Lechle appeared happy to see her, the way he eyeballed her was not lost on her. She had long held a habit for befriending those who could be of advantage for her, whilst she liked illicit activities such as smoking and drinking, she was no expert at sourcing those things directly. Indeed, even when Emmanuelle could sneak into bars and the like in Connuriste, if she could get a boy (or in some cases, a girl) to buy them for her at no expense to herself, it was all the more fun to partake.

"I don't know about you, but I must say I found mass pretty sobering." she jested, though of course the answer behind handling the hangover was more complex. She had pretty much managed to fall asleep more or less straight away by virtue of being so tired, that and a shower and a nice glass of orange juice in tandem with the fresh air outside of the religious service were all things that helped, as was the resolve to let it affect her as little as possible.

Apologies for taking so long

Image

Fenella McMillan jogged as she was told to, determination riddled on her visage as she paced with quick steps. This Fenella emulated a similar spirit with that of MacNeil, committing all energy in any activity she can take on. She either jostles or moves toward the side to let herself get ahead of everyone. "Comin' through," she would say, and would not be concerned of how others would react. In her mind, why would she care?

When it came to Verity and Suuentliok and the other students blocking her edges, Fenella could find no way to get through. So, she kept her pace until the laps were finished before moving up to Verity and Suuentliok.

"You two seem to be an unusual pair," she then interjected, "Fenella McMillan, by the way. Nice to meet you, lassies. Hopefully, they'll bring in a good sport to play. It'd be nice to get my blood up and runnin' on a morning like this."

Verity turned to see the girl who shared her name with her PE instructor. Given that Verity hadn't seen her before, Verity assumed that she must have been one of the local students, after all, most of the class was.

As Verity had started near the back of the jogging pack, she'd taken note of the beige haired girl that was now introducing herself. This girl had been rather energetically making her way toward the front of the pack, with little regard for those she cut in front of. So when Verity managed to make it to the front, she made sure to block this girl from passing her. Verity didn't know if Fenella caught on to her intentions, but she hoped that she did. Verity didn't go into every activity as if it were a competiton, but if someone else insisted treating one as if it were, she always aimed to leave them defeated.

As for what this Fenella mean't by her being part of an 'unusual pair', Verity couldn't be entirely sure. Perhaps she was refering mostly to blonde giant's height. Nonetheless, Finella ought realize that in calling someone else unsual, she was being rather rude. Not that Verity was normally hurt by rudeness, she usual just found it an license to reply in kind.

Verity wasn't going to be nearly as aggresive as she had been earlier in the day. However, in addition to, showing basic courtseys, Verity wanted Fenella to know she wasn't someone to mess with unless you wanted to pick a fight.

"Nice to meet you too, Fenella, I'm Verity Nicholas, as you might have guessed, I'm here as part of your school's student exchange program." Verity smiled at Fenella, keeping her tone cheerful and friendly.

"I do hope we get something good to play. I, personally, prefer full contact sports, nothing gets the blood up and running quite like getting to knock other girls to the ground." For emphasis, Verity hit her right fist into her left palm, but not too aggressively, before giggling and smiling at Fenella. As she did, she made sure to closely watch how Fenella reacted.

"However, as we're on a basketball court, I doubt we'll playing anything too physical. For some us, jogging is enough of a competition to get worked up about." Verity had another giggle, this time implicitly at Fenella's expense.

"Alright, you lot. Today, instead of doing a set of exercises, we will be playing a sport to get yourselves livened up for the rest of the day. This sport is basketball, and for trustworthy's sake, I assume you know how the game is played since elementary. Now, to make things easier, we'll divide the teams into Locals against Foreigners. Get yourselves gathered up on the opposite ends at the court, pick who's captain and we'll get started. Let's go, everyone!"

With that, the students dispersed into their designated teams. Fenella, hearing this, greeted Verity and Sueentliok off and headed to her opposite end of the court. Although she wanted to lead the team, she passed the opportunity off to a junior student who displayed a tone and stance that displayed authority.

Afterwards, with a loud, reverberating blow from a whistle, Finella starts the game.

Before being called over, Rocco headed over and had a brief chat with his Ludoviga on the side. "So, is it fun being lazy?"

"I'm sorry my ailment bothers you so much."

"Doesn't bother me so much, less competition. Makes me wonder though, if you never partook in physical activities why aren't you fat."

"So I have to be fat?"

"No, I'd hate for you to be. It's just...you don't do anything to fight off fatness."

"Maybe I don't eat. Maybe I'm fasting. Maybe it's just natural. Arditi women are built thin."

"Yeah, like cousin Vincenza, she's thin..and thick."

"You are gross."

Then the crowd was called over by the instructors, and off Rocco went. "Try not to punch anyone." Ludoviga warned him as he left.

The instructors introduced them to the sport of the day, basketball. They then split the kids into groups, foreigners versus locals. Not one to lie, Rocco admitted he was out of his element to one of the instructors. "Scusame...coach? I 'ave never played basketball. Do I just ease myself into it? I wouldn't want to 'urt anyone."

Ajay could barely contain his delight, lightly sweaty as he was, when he heard the teachers make the announcement, for it meant two things: seeing other people play, and seeing that tower of a girl not only play but be the actual center of their team. Foreigners, right?

He did not let the thought of him being too short to be considered for play bring him; when it came to basketball, it really was only his lack of height and reach that held him back, and so he was free to teach his fellow classmates back in Reuniaõ basketball basics.

Hey, Ajay thought to himself, immediately waxing positive inside his head, maybe that girl can't play! Then I can teach her to be good! I CAN BE NEAR HER! ALL! THE! TIME!

With that thought, he very happily hopscotched across the court towards the seven-foot girl's direction, for he could see the rest of them Foreigners were going to congregate around her soon enough, anyway.

Man, I sure am glad I'm not in that crowd, Stephen said to himself as he observed people quickly gel into two different teams... as well as Ajay, who was his usual extremely giddy self.

Man... am I ever glad not to ask for permission to skip this shit.

Pivoting his feet towards the sidelines and some rest after running his laps, he saw something else transpire:

"Maybe I don't eat. Maybe I'm fasting. Maybe it's just natural. Arditi women are built thin."

"Yeah, like cousin Vincenza, she's thin..and thick."

"You are gross."

Then the crowd was called over by the instructors, and off Rocco went. "Try not to punch anyone." Ludoviga warned him as he left.

So she's not playing, Stephen thought, and that's her brother. He'll probably skip it too; Euros don't usually play ball, right?

And with that, with his sweat toweled up, he made up his mind and ambled across to where Ludoviga was seated. Upon reaching her, he told her, "Hi there. Ludoviga, right? Stephen Daldry, but call me Steve. That jumping bean over there?" -- he then pointed across the court to a very jumpy, very happy Ajay -- "You met him on the hallway this morning. He's, uh, my roommate. So I assume that's your brother you just spoke to, huh?"

Basketball wasn't Verity's favorite sport, but it was sport she knew how to play well enough, and while not the star player, she had played as starter on her high school team in her first year.

Verity found spliting teams between local and foreigners to be rather unfair, or at least it would be, were it not for the giant they had on their side. The locals knew eachother and went to school with eachother for years and no doubt that'd make a better team than the mismatched group of students who often didn't get along in normal circumstances, nevermind during a sport that required such teamwork.

Lux Pulchrae wrote:Before being called over, Rocco headed over and had a brief chat with his Ludoviga on the side. "So, is it fun being lazy?"

"I'm sorry my ailment bothers you so much."

"Doesn't bother me so much, less competition. Makes me wonder though, if you never partook in physical activities why aren't you fat."

Speaking of 'not getting along', as she played, Verity noticed that the italian runt was sitting on the sidelines rather than participating. This wasn't all that surprising. After their altercation in the bathroom earlier in the morning, Verity had happened to notice that the tear that fell from her eye when she was upset appeared to be blood. Afterward Verity did a web search and found that she likely had some chronic ailment that lead her to bleed from her eyes under stress. In all likelihood, she was using it to get out of having to participate in PE. Verity also happened to come across what "Maldetta stronza" mean't.

During a pause in play, Ludoviga's brother safely out of range, Verity walked by where Ludoviga sat, as if she didn't see her, before turning to her after reaching close enough to tower over her. Verity faked surprise upon 'seeing' her and begun speaking sarcastically:

"Saw you holding your stomach in the bathroom this morning, looked like you in some serious pain." said Verity, in a tone of feigned concern. "Oh well, if you're feeling too weak to participate, there's always next time, assuming you don't aquire another stomach ache." Verity said with a faint, but sinister smile.

Before being called over, Rocco headed over and had a brief chat with his Ludoviga on the side. "So, is it fun being lazy?"

A few moments after Rocco had left, Ludoviga was approached by someone else. Introducing himself as Steve. He looked to be really really small and timid. "Huh? Yes, that was my brother. So you're roommates with that heated atom over there? So that means you're also my brothers' roommate. Well, you seem much calmer than Ajay, so you might get along with Rocco in that aspect."

As she spoke with Stephen, yet another person came by, Verity. She came by in yet another round of her condescending manner. Ludoviga smiled politely "Thank you for the concern Verity, but I am fine now. It had felt like my stomach was punched by a full grown man. But don't worry, it won't happen again."

At a distance, Rocco saw the the interaction. They seemed to be talking, nothing bad as of yet.

Verity listened to Ludoviga's defiant response with frustration. She still hadn't learned her lesson, apparently.

It wouldn't be long before the game would continue and Verity noticed that Rocco was paying attention to their conversation. She'd respond to Ludoviga, but keep it cool, not wanting to attract unwanted attention.

"Oh I'm sure it hurt a whole lot, it looked like it did. I wouldn't be so sure that it won't happen again, however. Without the right habits, let's just say those types of issues can be rather, recurrent."

Verity said, keeping her tone faux friendly.

"Look on the bright side, it could have been much worse. Knew this girl once that had a splitting headache at the same time as really bad nosebleed. Heard it felt like getting her head slammed into a concrete wall."

Verity said, having used descriptive hand motions.

"Apparently she was on the floor of a bathroom sobbing until someone found her. As far as I heard, she ended up being fine. Was a different person afterward, though, better for it even. The point is to learn from sickness and avoid it rather tempt it. I doubt you'll ever experience anything that bad, she had especially bad habits."

Verity finished with a tone that'd come across as rather onimous if you knew she had been speaking allegorically.

Suuentliok

This was too easy for the young Velsturman noble, and she loved it for that. Big people were generally pretty clumsy, the slower people on the court: those big people had never been taught from an early age that strength and grace were too sides of the same coin: if you were strong, it wouldn't serve you well if you didn't know what all of your body was doing. To get the best out of what God had given you, you had to know how it all interacted and keep perfect balance: it's then that you could start doing fun things like attacking, or sprinting or...
Parting company with the ground a split second before the boy in front of her and smashing her teammates rebound into the net.

The game reset and Suuentliok surveyed her team, well...most of it; she looked towards the sideline and marched over.
She heard some of what was being said and completely ignored it, noticing it was Verity and the girl she'd been arguing with at breakfast: no point getting involved in the drama itself.
"Is something wrong?" she asked Verity, "Do you need to sit out the rest of the game? Are you injured?"

Stephen had an eyeful of the looming Velstranian as she strode toward the three of them, but he could see that she merely wanted to know what was going on. He wondered why Ludoviga's brother --his and Ajay's roommate -- hadn't done likewise. Too macho?

The other tall girl -- the one Ludoviga called Verity(?) -- spoke trouble.

Stephen was intimately familiar with the tone of voice she deployed, too familiar in fact. Her voice, along with the whole nonsense about heads smashed on concrete and Ludoviga's retort, convinced him that they had an altercation sometime before. Stephen internally cursed whoever organized this exchange program -- they really send bullies halfway round the world for this shit?

Nothing else, then, but to confront her. Confront her, see how she reacts.

"So," Stephen piped up, while keeping his eyes on this Verity girl, "your name's Verity, right? You punched her? You're not being subtle at all, aren't you?"

Verity smirked at the diminutive boy, it was true, Verity wasn't exactly being all that subtle that she had punched Ludoviga and wasn't regretful about it in the slightest. She wasn't going to admit it, though.

"Yes, my name's Verity. Don't fall for Ludoviga's innocent act, at breakfest this morning she thought shouting at me and calling me a cow and a bitch was acceptable, anong many other vicious insults."

Verity, decided this little discussion was attracting too much attention and that she'd leave it be.

As the game progressed, Fenella ran up toward her left side in order to incentivize her team to get closer to the Foreigner side of the court. She then shouts to one of the players to pass the ball onto, and once in her hands, she turns, steps forward and dribbles. She then heads closer to the basket with confidence, while watching any players, especially the giant with caution...

I'm as innocent as you are a celibate!" she said just loud enough to be heard. She turned to Stephen with a friendly face "Oh Stefano, grazie, for the assistance but it was unnecessary. Nothing happened, I merely ate the wrong thing today." even though she hadn't eaten at all. She put a hand on the small boy's shoulder "You are lucky to not play, that giant could crush you."

Again, Basketball wasn't her favourite sport, but it was a rather enjoyable game nonetheless, particulary when one of your teammates has a massive height advantage, making passes to her under the basket basically an automatic bucket.

Suuentliok wasn't by any means the only one that played a good game, however. Verity watched as Fenella played. She was pretty good on defense, she was able to stay in front of her opponent and when rebounding she did a pretty good job of getting her way to the ball after missed shots. Verity was reminded of her short conversation with Fenella. Apparently, Shinty (a game that Verity read about having read up on folaisia's sportimg vents) was a favorite game of hers. No doubt it helped her know how to jostle her way in front of a ball while blocking out others. Of course, with a lot less contact in basketball.

Speaking of contact, if she liked Shinty, this would, allegedly, mean this girl could take and dish out hits. Verity was eager to test this. Verity being very pugnacious, was frankly unsatisfied just getting to punch Ludoviga earlier in the day. Verity was honestly hoping that she'd have tried to fight back. It wasn't like Ludoviga escaped from her, if Verity wanted to, she could have easily 'finished her off', as Ludoviga had said when she first entered, in the bathroom.

Verity however, felt bad about the idea of pummeling someone who didn't want to fight, though Ludoviga's constant insults made Verity consider making her an exception. This was the arbitrary line Verity drew between what she did and what she saw as 'bullying'. So Verity punched Ludoviga, insulted her and gave her the choice to walk, walk she did. In Fenella's case, given the choice between fight or flight, there was a good chance she'd pick fight.

Though while Verity wanted to start something, she'd have to be careful about how. Verity didn''t want to get in trouble, so it'd have to look like normal basketball play and any contact would have to look unintentional.

Currently, Fenella's team was on offense, as she ran up the court, Verity, on defense, watched her closely. She asked for the ball and Fenella got it, now dribbling toward the basket.

Verity noticed that Fenella was focused on avoiding Suuentliok and heading toward the basket. This was her chance. Soon after fenella dribbled past Verity, she rushed toward her at an angle she couldn't see her from.

As Verity reached Fenella, In one quick motion, Verity dipped her right shoulder in front of Fenella, brought her right elbow back into Fenella's abdomen as hard as she could, and took the ball with her right hand. Immediately after getting control of the ball, Verity, now in front of Fenella, stopped suddenly and pivoted square to Fenella, as the local girl's momentum still carried her foward, Verity slyly dipped her left shoulder into Fenella's chest, leaning into the bump to maximize the impact.

Verity then passed the ball out to a teamate before stopping and turning Fenela, pretending to be surprised. Verity then went up to next to Fenella and talked only loud enough for her to hear.

"Oh, I intentionally elbowed and shouldered you, didn't think you'd be so hurt by it, sorry." Verity said in a quiet, mocking tone.

Now If someone else asked about it, Verity would say she said/mean't to say 'unintentionally' but she very much intended for Fenella to know she did it on purpose.
