"Milady Queen-Empress, Milord Prince I think you for coming to the party this evening from New Edom. I hope things are well for you back home. Oh this is Izetta a dear friend of mine and well my girlfriend."

"Milady and Milord it's good to meet you." Izetta bowed for the guests "I share The Empresses happiness in you making it out this evening."

"Thank you very much. My country is at war, but there are peace talks going on right now. The enemy coalition that was facing us has been broken up, with the greater part of the nations that made it up making separate peace...peaces? Is that a word?" Mara asked Prince Enoch.

"Not really, Madam, it would be more correct to say 'have each made a separate peace'" said Prince Enoch with a faint smile.

"Oh well, what do I know?" said Mara. "Anyway, the holdout, Deadora, is being invaded right now. I felt a little bit guilty about going to a ball, but I was assured by my ministers that part of the strength of New Edom is in diplomacy and keeping up friendships abroad, so here I am." she loked at Izetta. "So...you're one of the Empress' good friends, my Lady? This is one of mine, Prince Enoch Tubal-Cain, my cousin and also the Royal Master of Offices."

"It is a pleasure to be presented, and to make your acquaintance as well, Lady Izetta," said Prince Enoch with a bow. "Your palace and your city are very beautiful."

Seeing a few kids pass by, Willy was lost in the moment for a minute. He was still trying to be attentive to his new acquaintance, but sometimes, even in his youth, he found himself randomly exhausted and distracted. Perhaps it was simple because of his strenuous position. Returning to the conversation, and still keeping a eye on one of the kids that passed, Willy abruptly changed the conversation, "Tell me, do you have kids?" He gave a brief motion in the direction of the kids in case Lady Sylvia missed them.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Someone was excited to get married.
I could not hold it against her - my heart yearning for the day, when I could ask the question to my own girlfriend. Maybe I was a bit jealous, but not for long.
"Indeed.", Dad said with a small smile, "Yet, being married will also have its advantages. Besides..." He took Yasmin's hand, softly squeezed it. "...men like us need stability in their lives."
"Someone to reign in the inner child, you mean.", Yasmin said with an amused glint. Dad shrugged, as if to say, that he could not deny that allegation. "I'm curious, Cecile, how did you get to know Cleone?"

Just as he says that, Tamina arrives.
"Milady, an pleasure to meet you as well, says Adrean's grandfather as he takes her hand and breathes a kiss on it, his lips not touching the skin. I hope you are enjoying the party. If you'll allow me, I'd like to introduce my wife as well. Genievra!" He calls, causing her to turn her heas towards the group and come.
"Genievra, please let me introduce to you Mister Azad Safir, Vizier of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Kyrenaia, and his wife Tamina.
-A pleasure to meet you both, says the retired Empress as she extends her hand towards Azad, just like his wife did with Peter. I hope you will take care of my grandson when his entourage and him will come visit", she adds with a small smirk.

Vizier Azad Safir.
Tamina smiled as he kissed her hand, then nodded to Genievra.
"Mistress Blachkor.", I said and took her hand, softly raising the hand to chest height and bowing lightly, softly breathing a kiss on the back of the hand. It was Teressian Custom to do it like that, especially on the larger balls, where women were greeted like that as a rule. "The pleasure is mine. As for your Grandson, when he comes for a visit, I am sure, that he and his company will have an enjoyable time. The current main problem are concerns regarding the carriage ride to the Palace of the Azure Hall and the escort during that ride, but I am sure, we will come to a conclusion... and maybe even this year."
Tamina chuckled at that.

And when I say heavily, every tiny detail on them was analyzed. I'll just say that in the end, he found some bad things for some of them, and the rest, well, he felt they were too old-generation to handle the trials of the 21st century. I can't say I disagree much with him on that.

If that can help, I wouldn't say that an educated society always mean an industrial one, as for centuries, Astarian children have always been to school until 13 years old, and that was way before industry was really a thing. Rather, an educated society makes individuals more aware of their surroundings, and which options they can choose for their lives. That's what we would say at least."

I had wanted to ask Marcella, if she would mind me coming along, I liked Gisella, after all, but she was gone too quickly. Dad had nodded and wished her a farewell for the time being - we would meet again later.
I turned back to the conversation of Cecile and Yasmin, who smiled.
"I am glad to hear, that the political bond became an emotional bond. You two look cute together.", she complimented with a smile, then looked to Damir and me: "I got to know Damir first under similar circumstances - I am a Princess, of the Khanate of Tanin, and its Princess-Regent since my Father had a stroke in 2017. The Khanate of Tanin is a Khanate under the Ilkhanate of Utica, where Damir is Prince, so it was natural, that we knew each other... I must admit, I crushed so hard on him as a schoolgirl."
Dad shrugged. "It was the uniform, I swear!"
Yasmin and I giggled. "Might have been.", she admitted, then continued with the story: "I got to know him closer shortly after I became Regent. He was already experienced in the art of leading a political entity, being the Wasita, Head of Government, of the Ilkhanate of Utica and I had just aborted my studies of Geology in Megido." She let a beat pass. "He and I got together, he aided me as best as he could and I tried to follow him as best as I could, got to know his whirlwind of a daughter..."
I nodded, smiling myself. I remembered that time.
It was a not-so-fun fun time.
"...and fell in love.", Yasmin finished, "I told him and he told me, that he reciprocated my feelings and off we went." She looked to me. "All three of us."
I nodded again, smiling - it had not been easy, but here we were.

Gisella

"Well that's how I feel, and that's how sis feels. Just wish more people would feel that. But again, we're making good strides ahead. We finally did make a system that would work for everyone. Can't say everyone loves it but it's there finally. Not just for us noble children but for everyone."

Esperanta

"Signature dishes huh? Well sea bass is commonly fished from the seas so get a bass add some spice or other seasoning to it and you got a Mazomba dish. In years past people might take root vegetable or madrake to add to it. Or rock salt which is more common now a days."

Allison Sanchez
Royal Palace

"Well, it really depends on where in the Confederation you find yourself in," Allison replied. "Cuisine in the District of Humabon and Cebu Province are the same for all intents and purposes, even if some snacks can only be found in the District of Humabon: bam-i and humba have their roots in the antebellum Filipino-Chinese community in Cebu, and no Visayan would not know what utan bisaya tastes like. Bohol swears by purple yams; indeed, the province is nicknamed 'The Ube Capital of the Confederation.'" There were other dishes in the Confederation that surprised and interested tourists; Mindoro was home to adobong pugita, for example, and La Paz Batchoy from Iloilo in Panay was popularly known as "The Visayan Noodle Soup."

Regis and Shiho Blachkor
"That sounds really appetizing, replies Shiho with a smile. Being Japanese myself, I tasted all the well-known dishes during my childhood, but my husband really broadened my culinary horizons.
-Indeed, continues Regis with a smile. I can't speak for every dish of every region of the Empire, or we would still be talking tomorrow morning. But if you ever visit Columbia District, try the Caillette and Kreeq. The first is a ball of meat and herbs, cooked or grilled, and the second is made of grated potatoes with eggs, mixed with pepper and onions. It's a bit heavy on the stomach, but very good nonetheless."

Adrean and Anna Blachkor

"Indeed, the system your government finally implemented seems to be the more balanced one, replies the Emperor with a smile, just as Marcella arrives.
-Hey Duchess, coming to check on your sister? asks Anna with a small smile. Don't worry, she's in good hands with us, and she taught us plenty about your Islands. So, how did your reunion with Princess Aurelia went?"

"Im sure you will find a solution, replies Genievra with a smile. And if my grandson is not satisfied with it, you can count on me and Peter to set him straight, she adds with a small smirk, while Peter nods in approval with a smirk too.

"I'm glad things are progressing. Let me know if we can be of help then. With viral outbreaks going on I've had to withdraw a lot of our Civil Service Corp from a lot of countries, except those with medical backgrounds. Anyway just an offer if you need it."

“I feel that war is always tragic,” sighed Mara. “Always a result of misunderstanding and fear. And, in a way, I understand what happened. Deadora went to war because two of her states, Aedora and Kehrahn, sought their independence. Deadora was always a tyrannical country. It’s a literal dog eat dog culture where the strong dominate the weak. When the former Matriarch Empress vanished, the two provinces’ leadership broke away. And they have always been hostile against our border.

“Neue Regensburg sought to get what I feel is a more fair deal about use of the bay around the island of Peregrino. I see it that way, even though they can be unbearable, pompous people….

“Then Vionna-Frankenlisch’s king had insulted my husband in a public proclamation and accused him of plotting to steal one of his nation’s colonies. And the Empire of Solisia was so pranoid about foreign socialism in Aedora that they sided with the other two against us. But Solisia, Vionna-Frankenlisch and Neue Regensburg are all out of the war, having each made a separate peace. Deadora stands alone.”

"Right now, we and our allies are liberating occupied Aedora, and, hopefully, when they realize they cannot win, the Deadoran Empress will see the futilty of her cause and sue for peace. In a way I cannot blame her, it must be vexing to lose so much territory, when some of your people no longer want to be governed by you..."

"You are the kindest of hearts," Prince Enoch told her, "Seeing the point of view of even the very wicked. It is commendable, but do not doubt that she would gladly see both of us dead. It is better this way."

Izetta was asked a bit rhetorically about being Fine's dear friend which was indeed true but still made her blush. "O-oh well, yes. Yes I am. Again it's a real pleasure, Milord. I'm glad you could attend even during a stressful hard time. Hopefully you can find support even. Milady already has offered her help."

Mara was also a bit embarrassed. She could hardly cast the first stone in this regard, and she changed the subject with a smile.

Prince Enoch replied, “Thank you. I suppose if there is support we could use, it is acknowledgement that New Edom’s support for the independence of Kehrrahn and Aedora are righteous and correct, and that Aedora must have a monarch less tyrannical and cruel. They are now new nations with, I believe, good leaders that will guide them in the right direction. Trade and exchanges of technology and education should follow...”

"Thank you very much for the compliments. I'll be walking a tour with the guests from Krainin, maybe you'd like to join us. I've been up here all night at this point I'd like to get moving again."

“Oh my gosh, I know what you mean,” said Mara sympathetically. “I get very restless myself during some ceremonies. And I should be delighted to join you, thank you. Prince Enoch, we should explore the buffet! I don’t think they put it out just for decoration?”

“Perhaps they did, and it’s all cunning chinaware,” said Prince Enoch. “Your Majesty, I hope we will see you for that promenade later,” he added with a bow.
As they strolled away, Mara gazed about thoughtfully at the other people gathered there. In many ways it was typical of some of the out of Region gatherings she had attended, and it was therefore in some ways relaxing, without the immediate pressing concerns of the fierce regional politics she had grown up with. And it had been a long flight, she was genuinely interested in what the buffet had to offer...

Noticing Marcella gone, Cleone was worried for the moment "I'm sorry Princess, we must have interrupted on you and Marcella. I had not realized. You can get her back, we can discuss later if you all would like."

"Oh, my." Katie clears her throat. "It's nice to meet you, as well. Sorry that Alexis couldn't make it, she's a bit busy with the transition of Adrines from a territory to a kingdom within The Isles. "Oh first time overseas, good for you! I'm sure you're going to have a nice time this evening, Young Princess. I understand the good Queen was unable to attend. Give her my best if you'd please when you return. In the meantime, I would be delighted to show you around the grounds some this evening. "Thank you," Annie says as she slightly bows.

"We'll be over at the food table." Both wave and turn to head towards the table of food to grab something to munch on. It's been a long day, with them being on a plane for a decent amount of it. Katie ends up getting some shrimp while Annie gets some cheese and crackers. They sit off to the side as more guests come in. A few moments of silence has passed and Katie has finished her food. Annie barely touched hers.

"Mom?"

"Yea, sweetie?"

"Would we be able to visit that one cafe that the woman on PiffleNet said. Felicia, I think her name was."

"I don't think we would be able to visit this time. We're only really here for the ball."

"Oh, I see." Annie looks down at her food. Katie scoots over to Annie. She puts her arm around her.

"Hey, it's ok." Annie looks back up. "Look, the next time we visit Kuronami I promise that we'll visit her cafe."

"Thanks, mom." Katie kisses Annie on the forehead and gets up. She heads towards the buffet table to get some more food.

OOC: This post implies strong opinions of some of the IC characters (maybe OC?). You have been warned.

The Arrival

Relena was nervous to say the least, something that she would never willingly admit to anyone, not to any of her friends, not to her siblings and definitely not to any of her Royal Cabinet secretaries whose core fundamental purpose of their office was to aid her in the governance of one of the largest countries in the Krillin region. With which came the maladies of stress and worry that accompanied this kind of work. Something that she quickly came to know when she was crowned as Empress in 2012, barely seventeen of age when her father, Charles (VII) Von Peacecraft suffered a massive heart attack from which he died shortly thereafter.

Relena remembered the words of her beloved father, much loved also, by her siblings. Who was gravely mourned.

Take care of Cassadia. Never let the legion of enemies enemies she has, to take her on the path of moral and spiritual degradation. To stray her off the its Christian identity.

Indeed, Cassadia was a nation facing the constant hostile waves of pressures, threats and attempts at subversion by foreign enemies like the World Assembly or from individual countries, coming from close, far and wide and also from within. Always creating much a trouble about that institution, the demand of instituting mob rule and its ever expanding degenerate ''rights'' and other staple progressive liberal conventions. Imposing sweeping embargoes and sanction regime on pretty much anything and declaring with unbelievable that unless her Crown-Government made these X, Y and Z demands mentioned, they would never lift their restrictions on what was basically a ban on trade with Cassadia, until she capitulates on their demands to dismantle Cassadian society and shape it into what the World wanted it to be, so that it met some supposed ''obligations as a government to enforce basic rights and freedoms'', whatever that was. Even though the Holy Kingdom Of Cassadia was never even a signatory to those international conventions or treaties that they so mightily spoke of to begin with, or even a member of the World Assembly member since 1981, ever since the Cassado-Brasilistan War and its subsequent annexation of the country, turning it into an overseas province.

''Cassadia guides its laws according to The Good Book, not artificial ''moral'', social and political systems made by mere immoral mortals.'' Was a thought that came and went in the mind of the Empress as she stepped out of the executive car, an elegant luxurious and custom-made executive sedan just for the Cassadian Monarch; a dark, Tyrian purple colored Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII that was modified to have taller ground clearance as well as it having slight, but visible car body that was wider and longer in length.

This state car, called The-Lady-In-Waiting, was an unique automobile, in that it was manufactured specifically with the mentality to transport head-of-states in a vehicle that not only costed the price of several Bugattis, but also was equipped with the most advanced defensive capabilities and armor protection that included top-level ballistic armor protection, night vision and infrared driving systems, a sealed cabin with an independent air supply capable of enduring a nuclear-biological-chemical (NBC) attack, and a supply of the her blood type(-0), and featuring additional Active Defensive Measures (ADS) such as infrared smoke-screen and oil slick deployment capability, as well as tear gas dispensers, further interesting of these gadgets being the limousine's in-built a state-of-the-art communications connectivity system, including internet and secure telephone communications.

With no downsides on the part of that it still had to drive and turn like a sportscar.

A tall order, but since Money was often King in most places over the world, as was the case even in countries that denounced their practice of owning property and claimed no meaningful relations with Cassadia, besides the embassies being hosted within their countries. Were nonetheless, secretly engaging behind the scenes, in export and import trade activity involving sophisticated regular goods, ranging from electronics and appliances, to fuel and other hydrocarbons, to cars and utility vehicles, to other manufacturing products of diverse range of goods, equipment and machinery and last but not least, Arms Industry weapon systems like assault rifles, SAMs, ballistic missiles, tanks, APCs, jets, helicopters, navalcraft etc, the most illegal and risky of them all, but also the most rewarding.

All of that was money, something beneficial for all sides concerned. And when quality product and the nifty complex logistics network of fast ''embargo runners'' freighters flying and registered in countries whose authorities did not ask questions and just accepted the money ta have Cassadian freighters be registered under their nation's name, front-companies, brokers, and bank accounts in island nations with ''zipped mouth'' bank-client laws.

Relena Von Peacecraft shifted in her leather car seat to the sound of the door on her right opened, to reveal the outdoors and the stairway path that led to the palace entrance of the building in which this Winter Ball was hosted. The door swung open wider to it's limit, with the man hand who opened the door stretching out his hand for the Empress to take, which she gladly did so, pulling herself to stand tall, in the cold weather outside her warm air-conditioned saloon, scanning with her gaze the Royal Guard's Escort Security Vehicles, Rolls-Royce Cullinans that were part of the security detail. Her eyes stopping on the the Knight-Agent that opened the door for her, who turned out to be her one and only, Heero Yuri. The mood on her face quickly changing from her stone-cold thoughtful expression, to that of joyful happiness and her lips turning into a smile.

''Thank you Agent Heero!'' Happily remarked the Empress to her favorite Knight. Who in private was her ''boyfriend'', as normal girls liked to call their male friends with which they most bonded.

''Pleasure is all mine, Your Majesty'' Heero replied gracefully, making a light bowl with his head and hand on chest.

The Empress looked around over her shoulder, seeing a figure of a person coming up from around the rear of the Phantom. That being none other than Volodymyr Zelenski, her Prime Secretary , who oversaw that the process of governance functioned and that her laws and decrees were observed and enforced. Something that the relatively young man who was beginning to enter middle years was surprisingly fast learner, able to grasp the magnitude of managing the affairs of administration and bureaucracy of the Kingdom and how the processes functioned in little under a year, something which personally took her little over four years to wrap her head around.

Zelenski closed in the distance a couple of feet from her and bowed in a solemn manner, though was personally upbeat.

''Your Majesty, shall we have our presence at the Winter Ball.'' Inquired Volodymyr, saying it in a way that sounded less a question and more a recommendation.

The Empress straightened herself, statuesque and with the dignity and confidence of a lioness, casting down her enchanting, mysterious blue eyes on the blinding lights of the the entrance to the palace's ballroom.'' I don't know Sir Zelenski, there is not even a greeting party in sight, and I personally am not that thrilled to attend an official function hosted by a dyke.'' Commented Relena on the matter, making it clear her disappointment in having to break bread with such a person.

Of course she would not make this opinionated assertion to the hostess of course.

''Shall we head in then, Mr. Zelenski?'' Said politely to the man who used to be her former tutor on the subject of History. Stretching out her hand to him, which Zelenski took under his arm without hesitation. Though it embarrassed him that Relena was taller than him because of her three inch heels, though Zelensi's own executive leather shoes added an inch to his height of five foot seven as well.

The Empress was modestly dressed, as was the case in every occasion she had attended, wearing a deep-ocean blue fascinators and a long sky-blue dress which reached little past down the knee, though was tight in all the right places, making it outline her figure such as her bosom, waist and hips, though most of that was masked over a cloak, as was suitable for the season of winter as well as fine silk winter gloves. All in the same matching blue color, which was complimented by the all-black look of her Royal Cabinet official; buttoned-up winter jacket, ushanka, three-piece-suit and all. As if he was going to funeral rather than a ball, though Relena found it amusing.

And with that, hand in arm, the two most powerful people in the Holy Kingdom made their way up the stairs, entering through the entrance and coming up to the greeting party that consisted of the hostess and her friend, arm in arm.

Of Course

Empress Relena Von Peacecraft, hid whatever she thought of this under a warm, but shallow smile, as she gave a curtsy bow to the two women of blue blood, while her Royal Prime-Secretary took of his ushanka and crossed it sideways with his hand over his torso as he took deep, but short, bow of his own, with one leg stretched backwards. By the book, just as described in the Cassadian court etiquette.

''Your Majesty, Empress Ortfiné, Your Highness, I'm honored to be invited to such splendid occasion as this by such an esteemed woman such as yourself.'' Declared in a complimentary tone to the two ladies before her, with Zelenski remarking the same though differently.

''It is a great honor for me Your Majesty and Your Highness. I hope that you treat us well to throughout the duration of this marvelous ball.

"I'll keep that in mind if and when I visit your country, Your Imperial Astarian Highness," Allison replied. The Cultural Attaché of the Visayan Embassy to Astares Amauricanum was a chef; for Gamaliel Lugto, food was art.
"Speaking of food, I understand there is a buffet; Esperanta, I presume the Mazomba dish is part of it?" Perhaps it was time for Allison to try out Mazomba bass...

"I believe so. Usually when we have multi-Domain functions like these the kitchen staff tries to pick out some signature dishes for guests to enjoy. And the buffet has a great spread of just about everything. I think Eylstadt might be best known for its deserts so they have the sweets covered. Clarines would be known for prime cuts of meat, Amaterasu for various dishes of rice and ways to mix and match. Hang-Gang for it's alcohol. Really something to try from all parts of kuronami including our famous bass."

Gisella

"oh sis, nice to see you!" Gisella said.

"My meeting with Aurelia has gone well." Gee did everyone know? Then again she did kind of yelp loudly earlier. Well oh well. "Oh it's okay really. I just wanted to check on Gisella is all."

"Hehe all right if you insist. I'll leave you to Gisella. Just don't get her too worked up, she'll talk till she's blue in the face or until your ears fall off. Whichever comes first." Marcllea gave a gentle tap to Gisella's head as she parted to return again to Aurelia and the others from Lux.

"I'm back again. Seems Gisella is doing just fine with the folks from Astares Amauricanum. Well in truth I do feel kind of bad for just leaving them so suddenly when The Princess Eylstadt decided to drag me away but Gisella is keeping them company and they seem to be enjoying her plenty enough." Between then and Kyrenaia here, there were just so many friends to juggle and make nice with and so little time. Good thing this party didn't have Mokastana or Lamoni otherwise poor Marcella might be having to jog around the ballroom.

"Anyway, did I miss much?"

"Enjoy yourselves then. Just let the staff know if you need anything in particular." Fine wished them leaving them to eat and enjoy the food for a little while.

The maids indeed brought out fresh glasses beverages for whatever suited someone's need and replaced empty food trays with freshly filled ones and taking care of dishes and plates. Kuronami didn't skimp on its food offerings at parties, ever.

Important especially on the dance floor. Enjoy yourselves." Bianca gestured for the New Edom guests to move along to the right which would of course take them right to the buffet table.

"That is wonderful!", I said with a bit of cheer entering my voice, then admitted: "Though, among the two of us, one of the companies already setting up shop in Oea is planning to traverse galaxies - even if only in form of a video game. We'll have to see, where that one goes, but I am positive, that it'll be somewhere nice."
So... maybe Piffle would open a branch office with us? Or invest in up and coming software developers? Or invest in the Computer Park, the learning center for IT in Oea?
We'd see.
And I looked forward to seeing it.

"Ah yes, then Tomoyo should be able to help you out with that. Between stores, offices, studios and other leisure businesses, you'll be well set for whatever you like. She's going to have a really fun time, I suspect. It will leave Himiko and I to entertain ourselves during those times she's fiercely dedicated to talking business." She giggled a little.

Esperanta

"I'm fine, sis, you should be with Aurelia, you've seen plenty of me and you'll see plenty more. I'm having a nice time here, they're throwing some real curve balls my way!"

Royal Palace

"I'll keep that in mind if and when I visit your country, Your Imperial Astarian Highness," Allison replied. The Cultural Attaché of the Visayan Embassy to Astares Amauricanum was a chef; for Gamaliel Lugto, food was art.
"Speaking of food, I understand there is a buffet; Esperanta, I presume the Mazomba dish is part of it?" Perhaps it was time for Allison to try out Mazomba bass...

Regis and Shiho Blachkor
"Thanks, replies Regis to Allison, just before his stomach growls.
-Seems like someone is hungry, says his wife with a small chuckle.
-You know me, whenever I hear about food, that happens. If you don't mind Miss Sanchez, I'll be following you to the buffet. I can't wait to try the Mazomba Bass." adds the Prince with a smile.

Adrean and Anna Blachkor
"And you sister is throwing some curve ball our way as well, it's a pleasure to talk with her, replies the Empress to Marcella.
-Duchess, if you don't mind, could you please tell the Princess that we salute her and her entourage? We would have come and greet her in person, but we don't want to disturb your reunion with her." Adds the Emperor with an apologetic smile.

The last part stunned me.
Bog-standard manufacturing of consumer goods in a first-world nation? In 2020? Next to agriculture?

"...I have several questions." I replied, after a long silence. "First of all-how do they maintain solvency amid the flood of cheap, industrially-produced(if unsustainable) food coming from America, Australia, and Canada? Ditto for manufacturing, but replace the countries with 'China'. Or are you referring to sensitive things like high-strength alloys and munitions production?"

The Baronin giggled at that. "I am sure as well. And when you are there, I am afraid, that I have to insist on a dance.", she said and I nodded, as if it was in my power to allow it or not allow it. Wilrun understood and gave me a small smile. "After another certain lady, of course."

I frowned deeply.
Dancing with someone who you were not married to or at least courting was...highly unorthodox in Prussia-Poland, to say the least. It varied from an unpleasant social norm to an act of infidelity, depending on who you asked. Most of the old aristocratic social norms and customs had fallen into disuse during the first World War, withered away by the period of economic instability that followed, then were cast-off entirely as nobles resumed their old, medieval role as soldiers and frontline commanders during the 2nd World War, and the long struggle against the communist government after that. At this point, your average member of the Szlachta knew more about logistics and conducting tactical withdrawls than about how to use the various utensils needed at a formal dinner, or about formal dancing.

Still...Ida seemed to be okay with it, and if she was fine with it...well...
"...very well, Baroness Wilrun." I said, after a long silence. "If I am there, of course. I am still liable to be called up by the Reichswehr again."
I rubbed my collar, then continued on.
"Quite personally-" I dryly noted. "One of those options is far more appealing to me. But if they call me back up, I'll go."

The band finished playing a waltz, and likewise so does Jimmy and Rachel, dancing to them that is. They grab themselves a glass of champagne as they view the ballroom. They notice people they have heard in passing or in portraits when having greeted ambassadors in their embassies. They see familiar faces from Pifflenet which they are accustomed to. And there they see another familiar face. The Duchess Marcella Villa of AHSCA, one of the many nations Cartoonia is well-acquainted with (and quite a popular vacation destination for some of their citizens). Wasting no time at all, Jimmy and Rachel approach her. They both bow in respect to her highness.

“Your Highness” Jimmy says, “I believe we meet again. I hope you are doing fine this evening”.

A bit of a tradition by now and the kids are glad to get to take their horses out every time." I shrugged. "We are currently thinking about not receiving them under the Lioness' Gaze, meaning not by day, but under Manat's Watch, by night.", I explained and shrugged, "It would certainly look awesome, for if we do that, we'll get out the torches."

I glanced to Dad.
He nodded.
"Thank you, Cleone.", I said and smiled, bowing my head, "I'm not sure, if I can get her back, but with your leave, I'll catch up to my girlfriend now." I smiled at Cecile. "It was nice to meet you, Cecile. Maybe we'll see each other again, later."

Noticing his frown, I was, for a moment, worried that the Teressien Custom of Social Dancing might be offensive to Berengar, but he seemed to agree. I smiled.
He did put a clause on his presence, though: If the Army needed him again, he would not come, but that was less appealing to him, not to mention, that he would go no matter what, if they needed him.
Wilrun smiled and bowed her head lightly.
"That goes without saying.", she said, "Duty is duty and duty always comes first. I think, all four of us can agree on that." She looked into the round and both Adalrich and I nodded. "Let's hope, however, that they won't need you or any other of your compatriots, and that the only battles fought will be about who cuts a better figure during the Kyrenaian Polka."
"A little recommendation...", Adalrich said with a small smile, "...sit that one out. You can only loose."

Welcome to the ball and welcome to Caloris." Finé gracefully acknowledged their compliments. "I'm thrilled you could make it out tonight. I hope you'll enjoy your time with us too."

Izetta bowed to greet the guests "Welcome, it's a pleasure to meet you, Milady Empress Peacecraft. As you good sir, welcome."

Relena bowed in response to the positive feedback of her compliments to the two Royalty, more out of instinctive politeness than anything else.

''I am thankful to you Miladies as well. I am eager too, about what your Ball may offer to me and to my cavalier next to me.'' Acknowledged in turn the thankfulness of the two blue blood ladies as she turned to her head of the Royal Cabinet, Prime-Secretary who recalled what remarks he had to say, at the last moment. A bright radiant expression being written over her face, while gravely scoffing at her senior Cabinet for almost making a scandal.

''Oh-hahah, yeah, I am thrilled that you have accepted us for tonight as well Your Majesty, Your Highness.'' Volodymyr Zelenksi said with a thankful, yet nervous smile, resisting the temptation to rub the back of his head instinctively.

"We're finally finished up her, Izetta." Finé acknowledged to her then turned back to her newly arrived guests. "Well why don't you join us at the table for a little food if you like? I'll be touring a few around the palace here. Maybe you'd too like to join us? If not you can stay out here in the ballroom floor and enjoy the company of the others here. All Domains of Kuronami are also present here this evening along with many foreign dignitaries."

''Oh how kind of you to ask, though unfortunately I am needed elsewhere, as I need to resolve some business, though I will gladly join you later...if I can.'' Relena said, making sure she did not need to stay a minute longer with these two people.'' Your Majesty, Your Highness, may I ask If Queen Mara is among the guests around here and if she is, has Queen already made herself present to this celebration? And if so can you lent the service of one of your servants to guide me to her. I imagine this is a quite sizable place. Besides believe it or not, this is my first time attending such a function outside my home region of Krillin.'' The Empress of Cassadia modestly requested, before again turning her gaze back on Zelenski.

''Though I can let you borrow my Prime-Secretary, if you so desire...I am sure he will greatly appreciate your company. Isn't that right Sir Volodymyr Zelenksi? Relena said happily, thought it may have been that way in the point of view of the two women in front of her, but to the Prime-Secretary it was nerve wracking that she was forcing him of all people to share such company. Nevertheless he gave a servile bow to his Empress

Why are you doing this to me Relena

''Whatever Her Majesty commands...And of course with the permission of Your Majesty Empress Izzete and Your Highness Princess Orfine.'' Charmingly declared to the three ladies, while glancing at the two Royalty in front of him. Staring enchantingly into their eyes with his own ''beautiful'' pair, almost giving them a puppy face, something all women he had pleasure to be an acquaintance, a friend or his wife often openly stated, they found ''cute''.

Whatever happened he was going to be stuck, spending a significant part of the duration of this Ball, with these two lot.

"Don't crash into anyone." Cleone joked, though inside he was in a less than comical mood.

"Ce fut un plaisir. It was a pleasure Princess. À bientot." she waved her bye.

"Well, Cecile's father was less than thrilled. From what I heard, he was completely against it since, you know...the whole not-French thing."

"True." Cecile added "My father was completely against, but I think it 'e was just overwhelmed. Sure, 'e wished for me to marry into a good family, but imagine the shock of the most prominent family in the country asking for me. Well, actually my grandfather, Lord Bourbon, asked me before the idea was ever brought up to the Royal Palace."

"Not only did I have to court this one here, I basically had to court the whole family. Sure, all the Bourbons agreed to it, her grandfather made sure. It was her father and her father's house, the Elise, I had to convince. It's not like I was going to kidnap her and lock her in the palace, I even to her she could bring her friends. But," he shrugged "she wanted to come alone." As he finished speaking, he saw a server carrying a tray of champagne and called them over.

"Don't worry, my family comes by at least once a month to see me. They live quite far from the capital."

"One would say it's by design." Cleone jested. Taking a glass and handing one to Cecile "Now, I called over some champagne, how about a little toast. To long, faithful, and loving marriages. And to future princes and princesses. Right Prince?"

Marcella

Marcella thanked the folks from A.A. for keeping Gisella entertained for a while as she parted their company again to see if she could return to Aurelia quickly. It was a delicate balance here, between needing to hobnob with AHSCA's friends but being with someone she deeply cares about. *Sigh* Truly the work of a head of state is never done. But as it so happened it seemed Aurelia was also looking for her and the two sort of bumped into each other again. Talk about being the Accidental Diplomat, Allison thought shortly afterwards.

Esperanta

Esperanta nodded "Yes, I can make some good suggestions. So, I'd like to tag along." She gestured along to the table that had the food and sure enough there were dishes from every region of Kuronami including Mazomba. "Sea bass. Also with some Mazomba Bell Peppers. They're a bit spicier but don't worry they won't melt your tounge off. Actually it's a nice added kick. Now we also have Mazomba Banana bread here. Made from the ripe bananas that grow in our region as well. Oh try some of the mango, can't go wrong with fresh fruits."

Gisella

"Have fun sis!" Gisella wished her sister as Marcella parted ways. "So anyway, where were we?"
