"I'm glad. And I hope you'll have a pleasant evening with us. So please feel free to help yourselves to any food you like over there. And we have live music through the evening to dance too so please go ahead and help yourselves. I'm nearly done up here so I'll be able to finally roam the ballroom freely. And remember we have staff here if you need help"

Bianca gestured for the Lord and Lady to move along to help themselves at the food table or have a dance.
“Excellent” Jimmy replies, “we will your Imperial Majesty”. And with Bianca’s gesture, they move along to the main ballroom. Looking around the grand ballroom, they see other leaders of the world gathered here, conversing with one another. The band continues to play stirring waltzes and other pieces to help liven tonight’s mood.

“Who knew so many leaders are here in attendance” Rachel remarks to her husband.

“Well it is a ball dear” Jimmy replies. “It’s a big event”. So then, they started walking around the ballroom, hoping to engage in conversation with the other leaders.

Royal Palace, Citta del Re
"Cleone! Cleone!" Cecile called out to her fiance. Hall after hall, servant after servant, the 20 year old soon-to-be-queen wandered the immense palace. Finally one of the guards notified her that the king was in his chambers. She face-palmed herself, it was the first place she should've looked.

Arriving at the room, she peeked her head in through one of the doors "Cleone? Where are you?"

"In the bathroom." he replied with a muffled sound.

She walked over to the bathroom "I've been looking everywhere, I wanted to plan our attire for the bal-" she stopped in utter shock as her face could not contain the laughter that followed. All that time looking for her fiance and he was shaving, he shaved and kept the mustache. Cecile threw herself on the bed as she could not stand anymore.

"Great, thank you for the feedback. I'm going to kill myself now."

"No! It's fine, just a shock is all." she said as she cupped his face with her hands, feeling his real jaw for the first time "I'm going to get your mother."

"No!"

Royal Palace, Caloris, Kuronami

Arriving at the Royal Palace, the pair entered and headed towards the ballroom. As a change of pace, Cleone wore a black tux attire with a white shirt. Cecile on the other hand wore a long dark blue dress with white evening gloves that went up to her elbows and her mildly curly hair was straightened to her shoulders. Reaching the ball room, they greeted who they had to greet first, the hosts, then maybe Cleone could spot someone he knew.

As Lady Sylvia spoke Willy could not hold back a grin from appearing on his face. "I cannot help but notice that Clarines has a lot of similarities with my homeland! Most of Rivienland is farmlands, and, in fact, our agriculture sector has some of the highest yields in the region." Due to the rich soil and longstanding farming traditions, many Rivienlanders could, in one way or another, trace their family history back to a farmer. It was even joked by some that the ruling family, the Van Riviendorps, were descendants of farmers from the southern regions of the country.

"As to horse riding, may I ask what kind of horses you ride? I have a beautiful, black Rivienlander horse back at home named Fleur. Sadly, I do not get much time to ride her with being so busy with state duties, but, as you said, taking a ride through the countryside is truly a treat." Silent for a moment, Willy could not help but think back to his youth when he had so much more time to ride and play. Surely, adulthood had its perks, but riding during his younger days was an experience that seemed worlds away.

"Relieved, actually; thanks for asking," Allison replied in a subdued tone. "I can understand filling in big shoes as well; every Visayan president is often reminded that the first President, the late Juan Diego Cortez, set the bar pretty high. Would you believe that the incumbent, President Francis Cui, is only the sixth President in the 32 years of the Confederation's independence?" Allison took a glass of lemonade from the maid before continuing.
"Anyway, I've been Secretary of Finance since Francis' first term in 2013. When he was elected for this term, Frank saw fit to keep me on, a decision confirmed by the Visayan Senate. As soon as he leaves office, someone else will replace me; personally, another member of my party replacing me would be welcome." Allison already thought of the kind of work she would take after her stint in government; prior to her appointment as Secretary of Finance she had two years as a junior partner of the Uytiangco Group.

Kuronami wrote:Well it seemed at long last the stragglers were starting to arrive which did mean Finé and Izetta would be the center pieces for a while longer but oh well, the evening was still young yet and plenty time ahead of them. The Mervayan Delegation had arrived, at long last and a good sight to see some friendly faces. "Miladies, thank you for joining us tonight! I'm glad you could make it all the way here especially what has been going on in Mervay of recent. Just remember Kuronami is ready to help. I'm glad you could attend ladies, I hope I'll see you more this evening. We should be done here very soon but until then, feel free to help yourselves to any food or drink you might want. Also dancing this evening. Enjoy."

"Thank you for coming." Izetta said with a curtsy.

Never missing a beat Bianca gestured the ladies to move off to the right. Up next another Mervayan guest, "Good evening Sir Da Mervay thank you for coming. Let me stress again as I did with the other ladies, you can count on Kuronami for help if you need it, until then I'm thrilled you could be here. I hope your sister is well"

She was presented with a gift a sword "As a matter of fact I do enjoy fencing, though I'm not very good at it. But it's a fun sport and I thank you for the gift very much. Please feel free to join the others and have something to eat if hungry it's just over to the right." Bianca again did what she did. Next the last guest from Mervay but honestly though Fine couldn't say she recognized him but it's not like she vetted every RSVP herself, it was a rather open invite so maybe he was one of their high end nobility or just another influential figure. "Good evening Sir Toschya. Welcome to the ball, I'm glad you could join your other countrymen here this evening. Please feel free to help yourselves to any food you like and mingle with guests. If you need anything sir, feel free to ask any of the staff, you'll see them wandering about."

"Do you know him?" Izetta inquired

"I'm embarrassed to admit I really don't. It was an open invite so it's not as though he couldn't be an attache of someone else who couldn't come."

"Need an eye on him?" Bianca asked

"I don't think anymore than we have already." Her eyes did glance over to the far left where a few of her other highly trained guards were posted to secure the peace and security of this party. "But I'll leave it to your judgement Bianca."

"As You Wish." Bianca made a mental note, she'd radio her various agents around the room and palace grounds to keep an eye out and alert the serving staff. Until then she kept her to her post. When Lotte came up with a fresh glass of water for the ladies here Bianca summoned her "Lotte, come here."

"Yes, Lady Bianca?"

"Would you have it passed along the staff we have an unusual guest?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Lotte, make sure they know it's not an imminent threat okay, we don't want anyone freaking out."

"Yes ma'am."

The Freezis Sisters
Both sisters bowed at The Empress and her fiancée, smiling at them warmly about what she said.

"We thank that, Your Majesty. Albeit it's not to us who you shall said that, but to His Royal Highness; The Prince.", Ma'am Olivia said respectfully.

"But thank you Ma'am, we hope too we can talk each other later on during the ball."

And as such, both sisters left. Besides they had other things to do around here and have fun, but to who they could talk to?? Interesting question to say at least since there's lot's of people they must or want to talk to. But for now better have some drinks.

Luciano Marcello Da Mervay
And said and done, it was expected The Empress saying that her nation would be ready to help, it was a needed gesture and wouldn't go unnoticed in Asteria. And it seems it was announced the same to the other guests, which he could guess were the Freezis from all he could know.

"Thank you for such words Your Imperial Majesty. I will make sure to rely the words to my sister and the government. And she's fine, working hard as always and having a nice time when she can rest." He said grinning at the couple before handing them over the sword.

"Well; I do believe this sword could help you improve ma'am. And I'm you liked it Ma'am, Thank you very much for invite me."

And as such he went off, making a curtsy and leaving to be walking around to try and find someone to talk and have a walk around the gardens, maybe have a dance too. Everything could happen.

Vladimir Toschya
And he was the next guest Emprees Fine had to greet, just your suposed "Businessman", which seemed like one, but he had a... Shady aura and wasn't known, but the better he was kept on the shadows the better.
Mr. Toschya bowed at the couple and smiled at them friendly, alongside, correcting her about possibly being from Mervay... Which was all wrong but, he wasn't going to say he was from Yuktobania.

"Thanks Ma'am. And no, if you think the Mervayan's are my countryman then you might be wrong. I think I didn't gave my nationality there but I'm from the Federal Republic of Rohan or also known as The Federal Republic of Lucifenia." He explained while grinning.

"And thanks Ma'am. I'm grateful for the invitation..." And so he went off, trying to be away from the Mervayan's after knowing they were here, while lying about being Mervayan did sounded nice, he wasn't of the idea of being related to such people, mostly because his hatred for them. It was... A long story why the hatred for The Mervayan's, but that could be told another day...

Marcella was whisked away by Aurelia over to meet Aurelia's future stepmother. As they talked about during the festival it was a bit of an unpleasant subject for Aurelia, and why wouldn't it be? It was harder for Marcella to relate having the benefit of both her parents around always but Aurelia lost the mother who gave her life and brought her up from a tiny little infant. All she could do was try her best to empathize and talk to her about it. "ready and waiting." And she was brought before Yasmin who requested a hug, well how could she refuse "It'd be wonderful!" Marcella embraced in a hug with the lady.

[...]

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Yasmin did go in for the hug, hugging Marcella in a friendly way, not yet overly close, but friendly. It was a short hug, but I knew, that both women meant it.
As it was over, Yasmin joined Dad's side again.
"Now...", Dad said with a small smile, seeming a slight bit nervous - I, quite honestly, did not know that he could be nervous, but here we were. And then he began: "...Yasmin and I were thinking about something, Marcella. In a way, it pertains you and Aurelia." He let a beat pass. "We wanted to make our wedding un-political as we could, but when your mother is the Sultana of Kyrenaia, that is not that easy. Not many political figures are invited, and even the majority of those are not active. We limited it to close friends and family and... well..."
He reached into his jacket and took out an envelope, manila, with a card in them.
"...this one is for you."
He let a beat pass.
"I know, it is a bit presumptuous to invite you on such a short notice, especially since you are a head of state, but I wanted to give you this one in person.", he added.
I knew, that this was not the secret I thought there was, but I knew, that this was huge.
Dad just declared Marcella as either a close friend or as part of the family - and by the warmth in his tone, I would bet, that he meant the latter.
And, more importantly, Marcella was invited to the wedding!

Esperanta Putino

"Oh you want to know about Mazomba huh? Well let me see if I can give you an abridged version here..." She thought what would be good to start "Well Mazomba is a archipelago of islands off the south coast of the mainland. A decent ways off the coast not something I'd try swimming too." she chuckled "Oh lame joke then, got it." She chuckled again "Anyway, as I said it's a bunch of islands. They've been around for centuries but were ruled by different tribes and rulers for years then became a kingdom then we were formally annexed by Kuronami. A peaceful one, one of mutual benefit between us, but there are still independence sympathizers, some among my own family. Of course my family wants it done through grass roots political action and not violence. I'm more pro-union myself but I have an open mind and open ears. I became the new Governor General after the good Mister Aberkombi left this mortal world. He was a fine man, loving father and grandfather and solid leader. Now I have big shoes to fill but I'll do my best."

"Sirs and Madams" The maid set out a bunch of glasses of freshly refilled beverages for anyone who'd like. "Fresh drinks for anyone. And the kitchen will have fresh batch of food as well. Please continue to enjoy." She bowed and made her exit again.

Esperanta greeted Allison with a "Welcome back. Doing better I hope. I was just telling a little about the Domain I'm Governor of." She recapped everything she told.

Gisella Villa

"Oh it was repelling an invasion. We weren't united then. Well not yet, it was the war that pushed it forward but it was being discussed for years. Only problem was before that, nobody could decide if it should be a federation of states, a unitary system, a confederation. Well push came to shove and our feet were against the fire we felt a federation would be best. I'm not sure we are strictly that but well whatever it worked. But I can imagine how scared everyone was, not sure this whole declaring independence would work. That anyone would take it seriously enough to consider the invasion invalid and to help us. But it did work!"

Regis and Shiho Blachkor
"Well, says Regis as his wife and him take a glass, seems like this is a ball related to islands, he adds with a small laugh. I mean, you, Miss Putino, you govern an archipelago, Miss Sanchez, your natoin is also an archipelago, and our Empire took control last year of a small unhabited archipelago near the UIS. Why don't we toast to islands then?" he asks as he raises his glass.
Once that is done, the Prince's face suddenly switches to more serious.
"Now, Ladies, I agree that filling in big shoes is often difficult. When my nephew Adrean was crowned, he was not experimented at all in protocol manners, only having known Civil war and hunting criminals for the past five years. And then, his dad, my brother Kriskio, BAM! Blown to pieces in Africa. So you can guess that the boy had to learn really quick, thank the Stars his grandfather, my dad Peter, helped him through that study.
Anyway, I've meant to ask: what would you think of a royal person, say, a Prince, who chose to leave his family after a tragic accident, go away and cease all contactd with his relatives, but coming back after a few years?"
What Regis didn't say, was that he knew very well about the question he was asking, since he was the one who did the exact same thing.

Adrean and Anna Blachkor
"Ouch, says Adrean as he cringes a bit, I understand better now why the UIS's population is famously rumored to be distrustful of outsiders and modernism. Being invaded and having to reorganize all your political system out of the blue must not be a pleasant thing to do.
-Indeed, it must not, agrees Anna with a nod. But apparently it worked, and now the system is more or less balanced enough for things to work. So, Princess, what do your compatriots think of the world, now that some years have passed since the war? And also, as you said, did any other countries came to your help?"

Vizier Azad Safir.
There was an older gentleman, who nearly bumped into me while looking for something.
He introduced himself quickly - as Peter Blachkor, the retired Emperor of an upstart of a little Empire, where Damir and a delegation had been a few months ago. Diplomatic relations were on a professional level.
There was one Golden Rule about being a Sultan in Kyrenaia: Once you were chosen as Sultan, you stayed in office until your last breath. Retiring, as it were, was frowned upon, to say the least.
How much? There were people, who called him Peter the Deserter. I called him his Grandson's Grandfather. Whether or not that was a compliment is up for interpretation.
Of course, it was rather unlikely, that he knew about that, as such a topic was not discussed in public and those who you discussed it with knew, that some things were not mentioned to others.
I bowed my head lightly.
"Azad Safir.", I introduced myself, leaving out my title and station out on purpose - either he knew, who I was, or he didn't, but I would certainly not shove it into his face. I was Kyrenaian and not a braggart. "And it is no problem, Mister Blachkor."
How do you address an oxymoron like a retired Emperor? As a 'Mister', of course, not as an 'Imperial Majesty' - he had given that up, so why address him as such?

When Mr Safir introduces himself, Peter immedialty remembers where he has seen his face, who he is and what he does. Although he could have felt miffed by not being called "Your Imperial Majesty", his retirement didn't mandated anyone to call him that anymore. And for the old man, it felt a bit as a relief. Having heard that nearly everyday for fifty years had madethe title lost a bit of its luster, at least for him.
That, and the fact that he had learned that Kyrenaians didn't view in a positive light monarchs who retired, so although he had no idea that some of Mr Safir's compatriots called him "The Deserter", he could guess that not everyone in the Sultanate would be fond of him.

"Ah, Mr Safir, I knew I had seen your face somewhere, replies the grandfather Blachkor. I hope the Sultanate is doing well, especially in times like these. By the way, although it might be a bit late, I would like, in my grandson's name to thank you in person for the help your country offered to the Empire during the COVID19 outbreak, although we didn't need it. I would also like to apologize if the message we sent back seemed a bit brutal."

Caloris, Kuronami

Katie and Annie Monticroix are in a limo a few minutes away from the Royal Palace. Annie is looking out of the window with a thousand yard stare. Katie looks over at her.

"Sweetie, what's wrong." Katie's voice snaps Annie out of a trance. She has a moment of freaking out before she realizes whats happening.

"Wha-what? Oh." She takes a deep breath. "Sorry, mom. I'm just really nervous."

"Why's that? You've been to a ball before."

"Yea, but this is my first one in a foreign country." Katie puts her arm around her.

"It's fine sweetie, you'll do great."

"Thanks." Annie snuggles up to Katie. Katie looks down, smiles, and gives Annie a kiss on the forehead.

Royal Palace

After a few minutes they arrives at the Royal Palace. A decent amount of guests have already arrive.

I hope we're not too late, thinks Katie as the limo pulls up to the door.

"We're here, Your Royal Highness."

Katie says thanks and gets out of the limo with Annie. She stops before going in the straighten out Annie's dress. She looks at her.

"You ready for this, sweetie?"

"As ready as I can be." Katie stands back up and takes a deep breath. She walks in and bows to whoever is greeting the guests.

"Greetings. I'm Katie Monticroix, Queen Consort of The Krainin Isles. This is my daughter, Annie." Annie shyly waves after she bows.

Really, there were more important things then cobbler.
Berengar didn't salute, although he seemed to consider it for a moment - he did good, mainly because Adalrich had been a civilian his entire life (safe for some time as a voluntary firefighter, if I remember correctly) and even if not, he was too modest of a man to ask anyone to salute him.
"Well, then, Berengar, please feel free to call me Adalrich.", he said, then looked to his side, where Baronin Wilrun was watching us with a smile, "If I may introduce, Baronin Wilrun von Port Monee."
The other woman extended her hand, holding it out arbitrarily, either for a shake or a kiss, whichever Berengar preferred, and smiled: "Please call me Wilrun. I think, I saw you last year at Alrich's Ball at Schloss Zyng, right?"

Berengar

I swear, if Ida smiled like this all the time I would contract diabetes.

I turned to the Baronin(Baroness?) Wilrun, and shook her hand. "Good to meet you too." I replied. "I was in fact present, yes."
I rubbed my eyes with my free hand, before continuing on. "Seems like ages ago, to be honest."

The ideal climate with ample enough rainfall and seasonal temperatures seemed right especially further south you went. But that's just a lot of history. It's lovely out there especially for equestrians such as us."

I stroked my chin. "Hmmm...Grains, I presume? Wheat, corn, and soy, I presume?"
All three were edible, but the second and third, I believe, were used in animal feed, and the second was used as a sweetner and also in biofuels-hence why, the American government seemed to prioritize corn subsidies, in addition to why they were an easy way to secure votes from Midwestern farming states.

"Hear, hear!" Allison replied as she raised her own glass; it was lemonade.
"Now, as to your question, I'll start with the basics: people will either be relieved that a family member who left them in the dark returns to them alive and well, or furious that said family member would leave them and cut all contact with them even after such a tragedy. This is basic enough that one need not be a royal for the reaction to be this mixed. Now, when royalty is involved, I would suspect that proof of life/identity would be deemed necessary, if only to put any lingering doubts to rest," Allison then said in response to the Astarian prince's question. "A question like that...if you don't mind me asking, Your Imperial Astarian Highness, was the royal in question someone you know?" She had to ask; she heard enough of similar questions coming from high-profile relatives of prodigals that it just sounded like the kind of question that would involve the prodigal children of the Visayan elite.

Glad that he was not exploding because of the Mister Blachkor, I listened to his reply.
"'Brutal' is honestly not the word I'd use, but rather short and to the point.", I said with a bit of bemusement at the memory, "That was very much understandable considering the situation the Empire was in at the time - still, nevertheless, please relay to His Imperial Majesty, that He and the people of the Empire are welcome."
I let a beat pass.
"As for how the Sultanate is doing, splendid as usual.", I said and exhaled, "But I am quite sure, that you meant in regards to this Corona-Virus. Baronin Wilrun, indeed in translation a Baroness, shook his hand, smiling.
"Indeed it does.", she said, then leaned forward slightly, as if to tell a secret: "From what I know, Alrich plans a large, internationally open ball this year again, in the beginning of August. I would be surprised, if he would not sent invitations out again to all corners of the world and in particular to people, who came last time."
I nodded. I knew of such plans as well - well, it helped if your little sister was the host's girlfriend.

"It is a pleasure," Emily remarked. "I must ask, as I do not know the country well, but what is the Hang Gang Domain in the East like? My visit here is the first time I have personally been in the country." Now that she thought more, it was the first time any monarch of the Imperium had traveled to Kuronami. Of course some tourists like to travel here in the winter, but, other than that, she truly knew nothing about the nation she now stood in.

"Oh Hang-Gang huh? it's small but very lovely. Surrounded by the mountains so a bit cooler than most but we get some warm summers too. We're our own little corner in the Empire over in the North-East. Well I kind of mentioned that already. We stand out I guess but we're pretty low key compared to the other domains here. Amaterasu to our South is big and has a lot of industry. Clarines to our West has a lot of agriculture production, Eylstadt which is where were at currently is of course the capital of Kuronami. So what are we known for? Korean language base an remnants of an old nomadic culture that got trapped in some mountains one winter many centuries ago."

"Oh seems like our nations have a bit in common then, high agriculture anchors. That's very interesting. I suppose you could say I ride just about every kind of horse I can. Mustangs, thoroughbreds, ponies. Well I usually stick with the more docile breeds but I'm seasoned and skilled.

Lux Pulchrae wrote:Royal Palace, Caloris, Kuronami

Arriving at the Royal Palace, the pair entered and headed towards the ballroom. As a change of pace, Cleone wore a black tux attire with a white shirt. Cecile on the other hand wore a long dark blue dress with white evening gloves that went up to her elbows and her mildly curly hair was straightened to her shoulders. Reaching the ball room, they greeted who they had to greet first, the hosts, then maybe Cleone could spot someone he knew.

The next few guests proved to be a surprise, guests from Lux Pulchrae. A rather conservative nation, plenty religious. Being religious in of itself not always a bad thing but it did leave to wonder how they'd take to the Empress standing arm and arm with a woman. Well it didn't matter much to Finé she only hoped they wouldn't cause a ruckus as they did during her brother's coronation. Well that was then this is now, Finé was still calm and collected and greeted the guests politely.

"Good evening, welcome to The Ball. I'm glad you could make it out. Please feel free to help yourselves to any food you like over there or have a dance at your pleasure. I expect I will see more of the guests tonight."

She nodded. Bianca gestured them to move to the right.
On the floor there were no shortage of leaders and high guests right now with so many arriving and packing in, the Royals of Mervay, Cartoonia or the Duchess of the AHSCA. Of course some of the Empire's own Dominion leaders who might be in conversation but there's always room for one more.

Mervay wrote:The Freezis Sisters

And he was the next guest Emprees Fine had to greet, just your supposed "Businessman", which seemed like one, but he had a...

"Of course, enjoy yourselves." Fine remarked as they left and greeted the next set of guests. Carpathia having taken care of getting the Duchess with her girlfriend like the little wanna-be-match-maker she was found herself in the presences of a few new guests. "Oh new arrivals?" She figured, she hadn't seen them before. "Good evening!" She bid the sisters.

Even though it was winter the gardens were accessible and decorated with stringed white lights, almost like Christmas time but it was mostly for the party. There weren't many guests out who rather take to the warm indoors but some of the guests were out to enjoy the winter air including a Countess. Anais Braun who actually had yet to even make her presence known to the party considering she felt a bit too nervous in the presence of greatness. You could say she was a real fan girl for the Empress, admiring her in every way but for now she enjoyed the chilled night air looking out at the city lights beyond the iron gates.

Unexpectedly so mister Toschya had to correct Fine and Izetta during the brief lull they had that he wasn't Mervayan but from another nation. "My mistake, sir, " Fine apologized "I figured as you showed up on the heels of our guests from Mervay you were with them. Rohan you said it was? I'll remember that." Though it didn't ring a bell at this moment still he seemed a little off putting. "Let's chat a little later, then." Bianca again gestured the man to make an exit. Just so happened that the young maid Lotte bumped into him. She had an empty tray so it wasn't a big deal but she still apologized. "Oh terribly sorry sir. I'm rather short so I get lost in crowds easily like this." She joked a little at her expense.

Kyrenaia wrote:Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.

"I'd be delighted to attend the wedding!" After all this woman could also be her future mother-in-law. "I'll make arrangements as soon as I'm back..." Though come to think of it she could likely make them while in Kuronami or even on the way back. The Empress's yacht which carried her sister and herself here was state of the art and high tech. "Uh yes, I shall make the arrangements to ensure I can make the wedding."

Amaterau Daidouji

Khana Amina bint-Karim.
I smiled and bowed my head lightly.
"It would be my pleasure.", I said and raised my head again: "I can show you my rose garden then, too." It was a point of pride for me, to be honest - and, unlike what some people with their minds in the gutter might think, it was not a euphemism. "Though, just a word of advice. If you don't like hot weather, Kyrenaia will not be fun to you, not even Oea. We do have warm water, though, and that's always fun to bathe in."
That was actually Sheliak's main industry: Tourism and bathing tourism at that...

"I'll manage even with the heat, I always do every summer. Our summers are pretty warm and humid I imagine yours is more a dry heat given your desert so I'll make due. I do understand you too have public bathing ingrained into your culture as well. So I'd like to try that too. A rose garden sounds lovely too. All right Milady, you have yourself a trio of tourists to look forward to. I hope you can manage all of us." she smiled.

Astares Amauricanum wrote:Regis and Shiho Blachkor

"My my only the sixth? So I take it it's an elective system, am I correct? But no term limits or just really long terms? Ours is an all appointed system. Cloesest thing we have to elections is really a vote for the Monarch if the Monarch does not declare or leave any heirs to take hold of the throne. Which is what happened before Her Majesty took the throne. All Domains can put up a candidate to be considered but in this case I think all but one did. Anyway after that it goes to each Domain Assembly to vote on and well go figure Her Majesty won the hearts of many. Many figured it'd be whoever had the highest population so that meant it would come down between Clarines or Eylstadt but it seems Her Grace got enough votes across the board." A toast was made she raised her glass and responded "Here here." she sipped down some of the wine. Good stuff even if it wasn't from her Domain. "I believe this wine is owned by the Royal family. The winery I mean. They have a number of vested interests in this Domain. I guess that's why it's named for them. I believe some of their ancestors were even the first to reach the far off shores of the Freelands centuries back."

"Well many citizens today, like myself were born well after the war so they've not had to remember some of the horrors that our parents or grandparents live through. So I'd say more are a lot trusting than they were before. More islanders are willing to go overseas and more willing to welcome guests on the island. Tourism has really risen in years and we're always hospitable even when people aren't as hospitable back. Actually funny you mention that, we just had our Independence Day a month ago. Officer Gozen, oh she's sis's Culture and Information Officer. She wrote an article all about the changing culture attitude. Oh yes, we did have people come help. Kuronami was one of them to help us both in combat and after. Holy Marsh was another. I think there might have been a few nations under the table sending weapons to us. War is complicated like that."

At long last it seemed the last of the expected arrivals came. And who better than the Krainin Royalty. They had a real presence on PiffleNet and as another openly gay couple much like Fine was for Izetta. Their lovely daughter the Princess also in attendance. "Miladies, it's a fine pleasure to get to meet you at last." Fine bowed and did Izetta. "And to you, Princess, welcome. This is your first ball?"

He'd only remembered her name due to his own brother being similarly named Marcello and he also carried the rank of a duke, or rather "Grand Duke". With friendly smirk he walked up to the young duchess and greeted her "Your Highness, Duchess Marcella, what a surprise seeing you here." he again bowed his head lightly to her, with Cecile again curtsying "If you don't remember, I'm Cleone d'Angeli, king of Lux Pulchrae. "Bonjour Madame." she smiled.

"So, how goes the ball so far? We've only just arrived." Cleone asked.

The Queen-Empress, Mara I, was wearing dress uniform of the 14th Hussars, which was one of “her” regiments. Her full-bodied hair, raven and shining, fell in thick and silky waves from her head, down to graceful shoulders down past her plump and well-shaped bottom. Her bosom was full in the frogged, uniform tunic. Her delicate feet were in leather boots that led up to long and pretty legs ending with supple thighs in her uniform trousers. Most captivating, however, was her face, with her large hazel eyes, naturally merry smile and alertness to others.

Mara was accompanied by Prince Enoch Tubal-Cain, who was a tall figure with a dark olive tan. His hair was in curly short waves, and his eyes were dark. He wore two rows of medals with gold braid.

“My gosh,” Mara muttered to Enoch, “The Empress is also wearing a uniform. Now I feel a bit silly.”

“Nonsense,” said Enoch with a smile. “It is merely a compliment to the Hussars.. And they do deserve a compliment, would you not agree?”

“They have. I’m glad it’s nice and warm inside,” remarked Mara.

The pair approached the Empress, whereupon Mara greeted her, saying, “Your Majesty, Empress Ortfiné, on behalf of the Holy Empire, I thank…” she paused, her eyes flicking to the other woman she was arm in arm with. “Thank you for inviting me. And who is your...friend?”

Here she noticed the Queen-Empress of New Edom with her companion; the Confederation had a standing agreement with the Holy Empire that allowed the LGBT community of that nation to seek asylum in the NVI, and the Rainbow Pipeline, as it was called, had weathered even the unrest of the previous year.

Regis and Shiho Blachkor
"To answer your question Miss Sanchez, replies the Prince with a somber tone, yes, I know the royal in question. It was me. I chose to leave my family behind after a tragic accident happened during my military service, where a malfunction ony tank caused the death of one of my crew members.
Now that I look back at it, I realize that it was stupid. Me leaving made my father doubt his ability as a father, then made him doubt his abilities as an Emperor, which caused him to resign and leave the throne to my brother Kriskio. But in the end, I'm glad I came back. Although my foolishness left a scar in our family that will never be fully healed.
-Hey Regis, says Shiho as she puts a hand on her husband's shoulder, no need to be so somber, you messed up that, it's true, but now you're back.
-You're right, Shiho, answers the Pricne as he takes a sip of his lemonade. Let's switch to a happier topic.
So, since we are talking about politics, in the Empire, the First Secretary of the Imperial Cabinet is usually chosen by the Emperor and Empress every decade or so, it can be less or more, depending on many factors such as capability, socal standing, etc.
Then, both the monarchs and the First Secretary choose the remaining members of the Cabinet, and the final list is then sent to the Imperial Congress for approval.
As of now, my nephew and my niece-in-law have been working with the same Cabinet for the past ten years, sicne their coronation."

Adrean and Anna Blachkor
"I read Mrs Gozen's article, it was very interesting and really helped us better understand your people, says the Empress with a smile.
-We're glad that your citizens are able to enjoy life once again without fearing everyday for their life, continues her husband. And you're right, war is always complicated.
But anyway Princess, let's not dwell on unhappy topics if you don't mind. Another thing piqued our curiosity when we were researching about your islands, is the population's ipinion about education. Why is there such a gap between pro- and anti-education?"

Vizier Azad Safir.
So far, no cases in the Sultanate, but we are working together with the research institutes of foreign nations in developing both a cure and a vaccine against that disease and we are producing face masks and respirators and other medical equipment, currently mostly to send them abroad, similarly to how we offered it to the Empire. It is weird to be Minister of Foreign Affairs in such times."

"I'll be sure to relay that to Adrean, replies Peter with a nod and a smile. But since he's with me here tonight, maybe you'll have the occasion to tell him yourself.
As for the Sultanate, I'm glad to hear that your country hasn't been plagues by the virus. Some people may say that it may be due to the heat that characterizes Kyrenaia.
Anyway, you're not the only Minister of Foreign Affairs to feel weird in times like these. Mr Foxter was in the same case, especially when he had to balance the offers of foreign powers like you and sending medical personnel abroad to help in countries with worse situations, such as Spain and Italy. But in the end it worked.
Aside from that, if I may ask, how is going the Law on Marriage?"

"Not bad," Allison replied, "not bad at all. With the exception of our SecDef, every member of the Visayan Federal Council was a holdover from Francis' first term; Nathaniel Charles de los Reyes was appointed to replace Bartholomew Pilapil due to ill health." There was truth to Pilapil's replacement; it was a known fact in Visayan political circles that Bartholomew had a heart condition. Rumors indicating otherwise were quashed when he suffered a heart attack in March 2018. "Our appointments are still subject to Senate approval, as though we were new to the process, but I can't complain--in fact, I don't have a reason to complain. Anyway, the Senate has been kind to us during those rounds; I'd hate to imagine what a Senate that doesn't take kindly to the incumbent would look like," she added, tactfully nodding at the Astarian prince's confession. The past is past, she thought, all anyone can do is move forward.

I do understand you too have public bathing ingrained into your culture as well. So I'd like to try that too. A rose garden sounds lovely too. All right Milady, you have yourself a trio of tourists to look forward to. I hope you can manage all of us." she smiled.

Cleone lightly bowed his head to Empress Fine, with Cecile curtsying. "We thank you for having us. We will be sure to enjoy ourselves." he bowed his head to the Empress again and proceeded to the direction indicated by the guard. Cecile curtsied to Fine as well, then noticed another woman holding arms with her, Cecile quickly curtsied to her as well and caught up to her fiance and linked arms with him.

"So..." Cecile said

"Yeah I noticed as well. Nothing surprising anymore, almost expected. But, what can you do." Cleone said as he looked around the crowd of other possible leaders and high society member. No one he knew to his knowledge, until he saw a familiar face, or rather familiar pink hair, the Duchess from ASCHA, Marcella. This is my fiance Cecile Marie." he gestured to her.

"Bonjour Madame." she smiled.

"So, how goes the ball so far? We've only just arrived." Cleone asked.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
I wanted to jump in joy at the news of Marcella indeed attending the wedding of my father and my stepmom and that she would make arrangements for that and that she would be there!
God, this would be awesome!
I wanted to express my joy, but Dad did preempt me: "That is wonderful to hear! Though, if you need to communicate with the UIS, feel free to visit us aboard the Alshaahin, my yacht in the harbour. There is something else to discuss as well and I would feel honoured to welcome you aboard."
But before anything else could be said, another couple approached us, someone, who I knew: King Cleone of Lux Pulchrae, together with Cecile, his fiance - while I had met the former in the past a few times, the latter was mostly known to me thanks to the tabloids. He seemed to have tunnel-visioned at Marcella (well, who could blame him?) and Dad motioned to me to be silent.
Let's see, how long it would take...

Khana Amina bint-Karim.
I smiled.
"I am sure I can. And, if we time it right, we have quite a few interesting things to do and see during that time.", I added and took out a card. "Please contact me beforehand, though. I take, that you'd want to stay for two weeks?"
Two weeks would be ideal, especially two weeks during the summer, so around August.
Summer Break and a lot of events, including the Oea Air Race.

Oh, we'd see, if I would meet Adrean or his wife later today, there were a lot of people around, who both of us wanted and needed to talk to - and there was, of course, Prince Damir, who he might be more inclined to talk to, given that the two men were known to each other.
And then came the favourite topic...
"The matter is progressing. Just last week, the proposed change was brought before the Court and formally to the Attention of the Sultana and the Council of Judges.", I said, "That is a very important step."
Then, someone cleaned her throat.
"Oh, my!", I said and blushed sheepishly, "My apologies, Mister Blachkor, but I fully neglected to introduce you to my wife." Tamina stepped up next to me, bowed her head lightly. "Tamina, Mister Peter Blachkor. Mister Blachkor, my wife Tamina."
"It is a pleasure, Mister Blachkor.", she said and offered her hand, either for a shake or a kiss, whichever he found more appropriate.

"Oh, my." Katie clears her throat. "It's nice to meet you, as well. Sorry that Alexis couldn't make it, she's a bit busy with the transition of Adrines from a territory to a kingdom within The Isles. As for us, sorry that we're a little later than expected, it's a little difficult with a certain virus going around. Anyway, I'm glad that you're country is throwing a ball. It's been a while since I've been to one." Katie looks down at Annie, who gives a small smile. "Oh, um, would you mind to show us around, a little, if that's possible?"

"Oh first time overseas, good for you! I'm sure you're going to have a nice time this evening, Young Princess. I understand the good Queen was unable to attend. Give her my best if you'd please when you return. In the meantime, I would be delighted to show you around the grounds some this evening. I'm nearly done here so maybe feel free to help yourselves to any refreshments you wish. I'll be joining you shortly."

Bianca gestured the ladies to move along to the right.

New Edom wrote:The Queen-Empress, Mara I, was wearing dress uniform of the 14th Hussars, which was one of “her” regiments.

"Milady Queen-Empress, Milord Prince I think you for coming to the party this evening from New Edom. I hope things are well for you back home. Oh this is Izetta a dear friend of mine and well my girlfriend."

"Milady and Milord it's good to meet you." Izetta bowed for the guests "I share The Empresses happiness in you making it out this evening."

Rivienland wrote:"I can understand the feeling. I cannot say I have such a variety to ride, but I am satisfied with the few horses I have. So, besides your passion for riding, how else do you fill your days? I assume you have some state duties per your husband's position in the government?"

"I do attend court regularly with my husband as we oversee all needs of the Domain. That includes working with the Dominion Assembly to craft legislature or policy. I'll hear the needs of our subjects when that time comes."

New Visayan Islands wrote:"Yes, it is; each president is elected for a four-year term, renewable once. As a matter of fact, it's election year now; elections take place this November and whoever wins takes office in January next year," Allison replied. "It was the Liberals that took the longest to pick their candidates for President and Vice President..." Here she let a beat pass, taking a sip from her lemonade as she did so.
"Anyway, the President and the Vice President are elected individually; the theory was that the VP's unstated role was to keep the President honest in matters that didn't warrant the Federal Council, and having the Vice President elected independently of the President ensured that premise." Here she noticed the Queen-Empress of New Edom with her companion; the Confederation had a standing agreement with the Holy Empire that allowed the LGBT community of that nation to seek asylum in the NVI, and the Rainbow Pipeline, as it was called, had weathered even the unrest of the previous year.

It's true that Adrean and Anna could have kept some of Kriskio's Cabinet members as well, but the first thing my nephew did when he stepped on the throne was to investigate heavily each and everyone of them. And when I say heavily, every tiny detail on them was analyzed. I'll just say that in the end, he found some bad things for some of them, and the rest, well, he felt they were too old-generation to handle the trials of the 21st century. I can't say I disagree much with him on that.
-Me too, continues Shiho, before turning back to Esperanta and Allison. That aside Ladies, I've been yearning to ask, but what are the signature meals of your home?" asks the half Japanese Caucasian woman with a large smile.

-Thank you for this detailed answer Princess, replies the Emperor. If that can help, I wouldn't say that an educated society always mean an industrial one, as for centuries, Astarian children have always been to school until 13 years old, and that was way before industry was really a thing. Rather, an educated society makes individuals more aware of their surroundings, and which options they can choose for their lives. That's what we would say at least."

"Glad to see it is still on the tracks, replies Peter with a smile. Some people in my entourage wear starting to wonder if it had been dropped out."
Just as he says that, Tamina arrives.
"Milady, an pleasure to meet you as well, says Adrean's grandfather as he takes her hand and breathes a kiss on it, his lips not touching the skin. I hope you are enjoying the party. If you'll allow me, I'd like to introduce my wife as well. Genievra!" He calls, causing her to turn her heas towards the group and come.
"Genievra, please let me introduce to you Mister Azad Safir, Vizier of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Kyrenaia, and his wife Tamina.
-A pleasure to meet you both, says the retired Empress as she extends her hand towards Azad, just like his wife did with Peter. I hope you will take care of my grandson when his entourage and him will come visit", she adds with a small smirk.

"oh really? I mean I hate to be of trouble, I could easily wait until morning when our Embassy here opens. But well, late night tonight given it's getting to be about morning already so that would mean I could get a message in before the end of day back home. So I'd be greatful for that, thank you" She nodded in thanks when suddenly she was approached and greeted by another guest.

"Oh, good evening!" She turned and wished the guests from Lux Pulchrae with a curtsy. It didn't matter she was in conversation already, she had to be mannered and greet those who took the trouble to say hello. Besides how often does someone just come up to anyone from the UIS? "The party has been splendid so far. I've just been talking with some of my friends here from the Sultanate of Kyrenaia. Join us won't you?"

So focused he was seeing Marcella, Cleone neglected the well acquainted Kyrenaians. He smiled as the duchess spoke, and when she mentioned the Kyrenaians he looked next to Marcella, Damir, Aurelia, and another woman. A big smile was plastered on the king's face, he considered these people good friends, and could almost hug Damir but he remembered where he was. "Prince Damir, a great surprise to see you here, you as well Princess." he extended his right hand to shake the prince's own. "How long has it been Prince? I seem to have lost track of time." he looked over to Cecile "Forgive me, may I introduce my fiance, the lovely Cecile Marie de Elise-Bourbon. Soon to be queen."

Cecile smiled at her introduction and at the Kyrenaians, greeting them with a light cursty "Bonjour Prince Damir. I 'eard about Kyrenaia, a little. Good country."

"I take any chance I get bring her out for a foreign ball, get her acquainted with foreigners, statecraft, and the like. I'm sure we all understand here." Cleone added.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Dad might not have gone for the hug himself, no matter the surroundings, but he most certainly went for a smile and a very firm handshake.
He bowed his head to Cecile, politely and formally, in lieu of giving her hand a kiss.
"Indeed I do.", Dad said and smiled at me. "There was a time, when I dragged a beautiful young woman to many balls to have her learn statecraft and diplomacy... and nowadays..." He turned to Yasmin, who bowed her head lightly. "...I am at it again. If I may introduce, Princess Yasmin bint-Atif, my fiance. Yasmin, King Cleone of Lux Pulchrae."
"I did hear about Lux Pulchrae.", she said and smiled at both of them, "A nice country of faithful people and good food, according to someone."
I shrugged. "What can I say?", I said, smiling as I bowed my head lightly, "I did like the ice cream! Good evening, King Cleone, Milady Cecile. How have you been?"
