A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

1. To start, you must sign up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You won't be penalized if you sign up and don’t end up posting a song. You then post the song in the IC thread after a host vote (see previous contests to see what a "normal" post looks like).
2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory, and other languages are encouraged.
4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the Committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real-life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one edition in order to qualify to host a following edition. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic and fair result.
2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real-life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgment. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in one strike given to the player.
4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the Committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes a peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification or an appropriate measure as determined by the Committee. If at any point, you feel you are a victim or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if you do so and don't finish your entry by the deadline, you will receive a strike. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalized or not. You may also state that you are withdrawing from the contest on the OOC thread.
9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee. If you'd like to edit something in after the deadline, please ask the Committee for permission first.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee - it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Achaean Republic, Ertzei Kishim, Mister X, Polkopia, Todlichebujoku) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

A reminder that this a ban on the user, not the nation: using a puppet to attempt to circumnavigate this will not be allowed.

STRIKE SYSTEM

As it was introduced prior to the start of '79, the same strike system for punishments will be in effect, where players breaking certain contest rules will receive strikes depending on the severity.

• One Strike: No immediate consequences;
• Two Strikes: One-contest ban;
• Three Strikes: Two-contest ban.
• Strikes expire after five editions; however, a strike expiring during a ban does not edit or shorten it.
• Bans stack; that is, a nation reaching three strikes within one edition is immediately banned for the following three editions.
• Bans erase strikes once they are completed.

Here are the following issues that can net you a strike:

One strike:
• Not voting in the contest (will also disqualify a contestant from competing)
• Changing votes without Worldvision Committee supervision.
• Posting halftime results when not the host or WVC & refusing to remove results (which also results in disqualification)
• Posting an incomplete entry.
• Not declaring a puppet.

Two strikes:
• Engaging in tactical voting.
• Intentionally refusing to vote.
• Attempts to evade a ban.
• Entering more than one puppet in the contest.

For full details of WV rules and standards, see this page.

Note: This edition any previously accrued strikes have been wiped as per the 5-edition refresh

If you have any questions regarding the new strike system, please contact the Worldvision Committee and we can assist you.

Saseh Kounmourzah - Sensibilities

Earlier today HARESHET posted a cryptic message on their twitter feed, which was later revealed to be an artist announcement for the upcoming WorldVision 81. It confirmed that an internal selection had taken place, with singer Saseh Kounmourzah of Djati being chosen. Little is known about her, and it seems she has no national profile in the Kishi music scene, a similar route as current contestant Lika Dia has taken. The song, called "Sensibilities" is slated to either be bilingual or completely in Hebrew, however this hasn't been confirmed. Only a small instrumental clip has so far been released, exciting fans and critics alike. Saseh will see you in the next edition of WorldVision everyone!

For the first time since our return to the competition in WorldVision 74, the Achaean Republic will choose its performer internally. And this time, it'll be none other than the very talented, yet controversial Manamma to represent us in this competition! Her new single as the Achaean charts riling with excitement over her return to the music scene after several quiet months of reflection and introspection (and lots of Klonopin and mood stabilizers).

Scotatrova returns to WorldVision, Diego Pousa announced as selected entrant

After missing the two previous editions, SSTR has announced that Scotatrova will return to the WorldVision Song Contest. The broadcaster has opted for internal selection, as Scotatrova's national final for WorldVision has been said to be suspended until further notice. Artist Diego Pousa has been selected as Scotatrova's representative with the song "Loquo que me fiuse" for WorldVision 81 and is looking forward to represent the Republic at the contest.

Following Mason's fourth place finish in Marina Point, where he just missed out on a podium spot due to losing the tiebreakers for a change, ETV One has announced that not only will they be competing in WV81 but they will also send the all-girl electronic trio Second Choice with their song Until the Bitter End. Cerin Erali and Flynn Taggart will also return as commentators.

Nation Name: Elejamie
Official Broadcaster: ETV ONE
Song Title: Until the Bitter End
Artist(s) Name(s): Second Choice

Tune: DB Boulevard - Point of View

Also, bear in mind that I'm currently in the middle of a move in the minute and there's currently no set date for anything, which might make a wee bit of an impact on my participation in the contest. I'll still try and get an entry up whenever possible and my votes will definitely be sent if I do, whether it be by me or via a proxy, but I cannot confirm anything exactly.

Also, preconfirming Placely Placington for a second go-around, much to everyone's potential dismay.

For the third time in WorldVision history, the Junterapten Pre-Party is back as we celebrate the new decade and 81 editions of the WorldVision Song Contest!

Similarly to the last two times that the Junterapten Pre-Party took place, 14 participants will be heading over to the Junterapten Centre, which is an exhibition centre that will be transformed into a hub for all-things WorldVision. Split across two halls, the 14 participants will get a chance to perform in front of thousands of people in one hall (2.5k seats) while also getting interviewed in another hall (the rest of the seats) with the second hall having multiple events that people of any age can enjoy.

We're excited to host such a huge event prior to the 81st WorldVision Song Contest, which we believe will be fantastic wherever it's held!

Pre-Party 2018 In 2018, the Pre-Party was posted as one singular post in the IC Thread which had interviews from the fourteen participating nations. In 2016, there was a specific thread for it. Depending on demand, 2020 will most likely follow one of these methods.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
In order to confirm your delegation's participation, you have to DM Britonisea on Discord or send a TG to Britonisea by signing out this simple form. But before you do, please make sure that...
1. You artist and song are both revealed publicly by 6th April 2020, 12pm BST (British Summer Time)
2. You will be able to provide a large image of your participant for promotional purposes.
3. You will be able to provide a larger image of your flag than the size on your NS page.
4. You will be willing to RP interviews ahead of the posting of the Pre-Party + be interested in #roleplay events that may happen (an event planned for 11th/12th or other dates April on discord maybe - would be fun!)

SIMPLE SIGN UP
If you have a National Final set to finish before 6th April 2020, please state this below - you're still able to sign up! Put N/A where you cannot answer.
Code: Select all
Name of Act:
Song Name:
Song Release Date:

Send a TG to Britonisea or DM me on Discord! I will soon be in contact with you for more.

Also, just saying but I do have a right to reject your application. Main/Master nations will have more priority than puppet nations.

"Welcome to Izmepisma. 9 songs have been chosen out of a field of hundreds waiting for their shot at Izmedu's WorldVision baton, but only one song can remain standing"

AREOPAGUS' 5th place in WV80 came as an immense surprise to Izmeduan fans and the WorldVision team in RTI. The entry was not expected to come anywhere near the top 5 and most optimistic projections had a 'top 10 at best' air to it. Though the entry still proved controversial in the domestic sphere, attaining such a good result with an entry unlike any other sent by Izmedu re-affirms RTI's faith that the country still had a viable future in the contest. Since the procedure surrounding WV80 was unusual for an Izmeduan entry, there was a marked insistence on returning back to the status quo for the 81st WorldVision. Thus, Izmepisma makes its return to the contest for the first time since WV79.

Since it had been a while that a new, fresh edition of Izmepisma was open for WorldVision consideration, the amount of entries sent to RTI landed at about a soft 355. It was a marked downtown compared to past editions, but RTI still had plenty to work with and listen to as they deliberated what entries they should select for the live rounds. This time around, many entries submitted to Izmepisma edged towards a less intense and more accessible approach. 18 entries were chosen and about half of the field were eliminated in televoting-only semi-finals. Now, 9 entries stand before you, waiting for your votes.

THE OFFICIAL PLAYLIST FOR IZMEPISMA

Song #1
El veo - Heartless
Tune: PVRIS - Death of Me

Song #2
Lara - Tear Me Apart
Tune: Billie Eilish - No Time To Die

Song #3
Jamna - Left Behind
Tune: Red - Darkest Part

Song #4
T & E Gracin - Home
Tune: Smith & Thell - Goliath

Song #5
Tacitus - Garko juarbol
Translation: A Bitter Tree
Tune: Lola Marsh - Only For A Moment

Song #6
Jana Jusic – All They Ever Said Was Sorry
Tune: Victoria - Tears Getting Sober

Song #7
Jasna Potocki - Vikati!
Translation: Get Loud
Tune: TARABAROVA - МАНІФЕСТ

Song #8
Ivana Puljic - Fighting Back
Tune: Anna Bergendahl - Kingdom Come

Song #9
ALTUR ft. Irena Majdan - Ice
Tune: Mairee & Switch2Smile ft. Barbs - Pavy

International juries will vote by ranking their top 7 songs in the following format. 12 points to their favorite, 10 to their 2nd, 8 to their 3rd, then 6, 4, 2, and 1 points for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively. Your least favorite 2 songs will not receive any votes. To vote, simply send a TG to Izmedu with the format or send a Discord DM to Izmedu#6997 (and if you have a national final, let me know and I will vote for yours in return).

The final result of Izmepisma will be determined through a 50/50 split of the international jury and public vote. The amount of points that the public will give out will be determined by how many international juries vote for the national final.

Last edition of Worldvision marked another Top-10 finish for Polkopia and the PNB opted to continue the tradition of using a National Final in order to determine Polkopia's entrant for the next edition of the contest. It should come as a surprise to no one that this National Final will once again take place in the form of the Landa vy Polkopiya, which has served as the National Final for Polkopia for decades and is one of Polkopia's longest-running TV shows. The contest dates back to 1972, where the winner of the competition received a cash price and was flown to Peeto in order to record more tracks with an established Polkopian record label. Of course, times in Polkopia are much different now, and apart from exposure on several media platforms, the winner of the Landa vy Polkopiya typically has the opportunity to represent Polkopia in the Worldvision Song Contest.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in all 11 Polkopian states, the contest will, for the first time ever, be held in a studio without the presence of a live audience. All contestants were screened and tested for the virus as well, and results would have to come back negative in order for the artist(s) to be eligible to participate in this Landa vy Polkopiya.

The lineup for this edition of the Landa vy Polkopiya has been revealed! As always, the PNB is calling on international juries to submit their votes before the conclusion of the semi-finals, and this result will be mixed with a televote in a 50/50 format in order to calculate the overall winner of the competition. The list of competing entries can be found below:

Semi #1

Language: English
Tune: Dagny - Come Over
