WELCOME TO THE 7TH JUNIOR WORLD HIT FESTIVAL
Cities of Juana Díaz and Urbania, Achaean Republic
WORLD HIT FESTIVAL 50 (IC) - DRAFT THREAD: JWHF7 - IC THREAD: JWHF7
Welcome to Achaean Republic!
For the first time in history, we will be heading over to Achaean Republic for what will be the 7th edition of the Junior World Hit Festival. With this being my last World Hit Festival that I am overseeing, I am looking forward to going to a new nation, exploring a new culture. I know, for sure, that AS1 and TVS are very enthusiastic broadcasters and only have eyes to make this the best Junior World Hit Festival that we've ever had. I am sure they will do a brilliant job in our host cities of Juana Díaz and Urbania!
Fabio McAlpine
World Hit Festival Overseer
What is the Junior World Hit Festival?
The Junior World Hit Festival is the children's version of the World Hit Festival. It is a multiversal song competition modeled after the World Hit Festival. Each nation shall enter 1 song and 1 artist, and it shall be 'performed' via roleplay. Most nations tend to use a real life tune as a musical backing, but every entry submitted to the Junior World Hit Festival is required to have original lyrics (ie. if you submit a tune, you must re-write the lyrics), so this does mean that instrumental entries are blocked from entering the contest.
JWHF operates with three threads, the OOC, Draft, and IC threads. The one you are seeing now is the OOC/Sign-ups thread, the main place for you to discuss the contest, reveal your entrant, etc. All OOC chatter goes here. The Draft Thread, opened by the host, is the second thread opened up during a JWHF contest, and this draft thread is where nations will post and work on their entries until a deadline determined by the host. The IC thread, also opened by the host is the third and final thread attached to a WHF, and it is where the host will transfer your entries.
However, there are key differences between the JWHF and the regular WHF, most of which will be articulated in the rules and procedures section. All of the regular rules in the WHF still apply, but a lot of the differences will involve your IC participants and how the show selects its host. Unlike the WHF, JWHF calls for bids from interested channels and decides the host through a bidding process. Additionally, your IC entrants must be children or young teenagers in order to be eligible to participate (between the ages of 7 and 16 - an increase of since Junior World Hit Festival 5).
Six editions of the Junior World Hit Festival have been held so far. To find them, please click this link.
Rules and Procedures
- A user is allowed to submit 2 puppets maximum to the contest, meaning that a user can be controlling at most 3 nations in the contest.
- The voting procedure is as follows: 5 points to your favourite, 4, 3, 2, and 1 to your 5th favourite. All votes are sent to the host (Achaean Republic) through telegram.
- Users are allowed to receive 8 points maximum from their puppets in the Jury Vote. Meaning, a nation with three users can use Nation B and C (with B and C giving 4 points each) to give Nation A 8 points total, but nothing more.
- A nation is expected to vote in both the Jury and Televote.
- All or at least most of the written lyrics must be original. Should any user spot any concerns, don't hesitate to let either Britonisea (The Overseer) or Besen (The Host) know.
- If more than 30 nations successfully post complete entries on the draft thread, semi-finals will be held.
Rules and Differences for the Junior World Hit Festival
- Your IC entrants must be between the ages of 7 and 16 on the date of the contest.
- 6 people maximum are allowed on the stage, and all of them also must be between the ages of 7 and 16.
- Your lyrics must also be age-appropriate for the singer's age. For example, a singer who is 13 years old would normally not be singing a song about war or an economic crisis and thus, it would look out of place if done so. Rule of thumb: if your lyrics are more suitable for an adult in their 30s or 40s, step back. Remember that you're writing for a younger singer.
- Unlike the regular WHF, the JWHF has a language rule. 50% of your song must be in your national, regional, widely-spoken, and/or state-sponsored languages that your country speaks in. Preferably, this language should not be English (it is not forbidden if English is your national language, but you are highly encouraged to use another language)
- In terms of tunes and song production, there's two aspects. ICly, children/teenagers are going to be the main authors of the song, so keep that in mind when choosing your tune. However, adults can help produce the song or teach your entrants to songwrite. However, like rule 3, if you find that the songwriting begins to match that of a renowned artist, step back. OOCly, it is highly recommended and advisable but not required that you choose a tune primarily produced by children (examples: children's music or the Junior Eurovision are good sources for tunes)
- As an addendum to tunes, OOCly adult-produced songs can be sent to the JWHF. However, you must be able to ICly justify it and it will be held to the same rules (language rule, etc). If enough nations in the community object to a nation's tune, the WHF Overseer will make the final judgment to the tune's suitability.
- The JWHF6 will be trialling out a new Jury/Televote system. It is up to the host how they would like to reveal the winners of the televote and jury points. You can find out more information about how to vote in the post below.
