The Superior Court of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia has ruled that President Addél Dîlectên has indeed abused power with his Executive Order, which automatically stopped the construction of the “Maritime Wall” artificial island project positioned near Ispanza, issued by the President without allowing the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia to vote on it. The official verdict states that the action taken by the head of state was unconstitutional.
The President signed his first and so far only Executive Order, following the testimony of his daughter environmentalist Jâné Dîlectên at the Convet, where she testified against the “Maritime Wall” as a project damaging to the environment and not serving much national security purpose. President Dîlectên then signed the Executive Order, which authorized stopping the project his daughter disapproved of, without allowing for Sunrisian lawmakers to debate it or evaluate it. The Convet criticized the President for abusing his power in a semi-presidential system and disregard the legislative branch of the government. Moreover, the President was also called out by lawmakers from governing and opposition parties for unilaterally undermining national security interests and for using his power in order to achieve the interests or the cause of his family members, which resembles nepotism, which itself is prone to corruption. This caused a rift between the administration of the President and the Convet. The administration has been avoiding taking questions on the topic from the media or has been giving dodgy or vague and abstract answers.
Today, the Superior Court ruled that President Addél Dîlectên did indeed, as the Convet claimed, overreached with his presidential powers by signing that Executive Order and disregarding the Convet as national legislature. After this verdict from the Superior Court, Speaker of the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Flórên Infána announced that the Convet would begin impeachment proceedings against President Addél Dîlectên, which would conclude with a decisive vote on whether the head of state should be impeached and removed from office. In case of impeachment, Vice President Césâ Gáûdĕr would take over as the head of state and most likely a snap presidential election would be called. Nevertheless, the Vice President has been siding with President Dîlectên during this entire conflict with the Convet, despite being right next in line to take over as the head of state.
