Our channel is not a political one, but an entrainment one, focused strictly on music. However, we sometimes cross over into politics here or other spheres of life, when musicians decide to as well. They are showing or reminding us that some of these things are not alternate planes of existence that do not directly impact us that much. In fact, they are directly part of all of our lives. And that is what happened with the case that we are going to discuss now.
Daredi-born Sunrisian musician Temma has released a song with an “in-your-face” political message meant to be a harsh attack on some Sunrisian politicians. The song is titled “99 Luftballons.” It is a German-language song, the first language of the Daredi-born singer, which she spoke and speaks at home. Sunrisian is her second language. While only the version in the singer’s native tongue exist, Temma said that a Sunrisian-language version is coming soon as well.
Temma – “99 Luftballons”
“99 Luftballons”, with an accompanying music video, despite a somewhat cheerful tone, is a metaphor for nuclear war. It is an obvious critique aimed at the Convet, where a sum of lawmakers from different parties over at the parliament, have offered to return to nuclear proliferation. It basically means that they are calling for Sunrisia to get back to making nuclear weapons again to grow this country’s arsenal or stockpile. Temma and her band are obviously making their stance known and suggesting that this move would raise the threat of nuclear annihilation higher than it has been so far. And that is risque especially now, when Sunrisia is having some many tensions and open conflicts with some countries. It just so happens that a lot of those countries have nuclear weapons too and if this suggestion to get back to a nuclear race goes through, it could trigger a chain reaction. Other countries could get back to making nuclear weapons too as a response to us, while more new countries could try acquiring a missile or a bomb. And with that kind of situation, that is when we could all go up in flames at any moment. Goodbye, planet Sunalaya. So, in a way, Temma is not just criticizing our guys, but the prospect of a nuclear race and nuclear annihilation as a result of multiple countries being to blame, but in this case, she is obviously saying that the Convet’s consideration of doing so, would make Sunrisia the one to trigger such a possible downward spiral towards ending all life on Sunalaya.
With quarantine in force, Sunrisians cannot really go out there in masses and show their position through street activism. People have found other ways to do it. And now, we see another case, where musicians are once again using their voice to spread a message as well. This has always been the case with art, but in the days of the quarantine, it is especially useful to get a conversation going or at least make people notice or consider something.
This week’s #1 across multiple charts in Sunrisia:
