North and South Baggnagia preparing for a Double-Referendum in both nations on April 3rd

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – At its latest session the Military Council of South Baggnagia discussed the Double-Referendum that will be held jointly in North and South Baggnagia. The set date for the referendum in both nations will be April 3rd. This is what the Baggnagian Reunification Commission and the Joint Democratic Referendum Commission agreed on in their joint session. They delivered that proposal to the military governments of North and South Baggnagia. Both governments approved of the date. There is a popular belief not only within both leaderships but among the populace in both nations that this question has been the primary one debated and focused on since the war ended. Through this entire post-war period both nations have not only been rebuilding and healing together but hearing about whether to reunify and accept whatever the new constitution is going to be every day. This included formal campaigning by politicians (old and new) and up and coming social movements in both nations. North and South Baggnagians think they had enough time to consider and April 3rd is not too much of an early date to finally vote. Both nations and a divided Baggnagian people finally want to settle this.

Baggnagian Reunification Commission is preparing the Baggnagian Unification Treaty for North and South citizens to accept or reject. The Constituent Assembly of Baggnagia is putting finishing touches on the draft of a constitution for a reunified Baggnagian state also to be put up for acceptance or rejection by North and South voters. It will depend on what the verdict on the Unification Treaty is going to be for the verdict on the constitution to have any merit. In the midst of all of this the Joint Democratic Referendum Commission is working hard to establish voting conditions for the upcoming Double-Referendum. And that’s without mentioning all the responsibility of setting up conditions the ongoing referendum campaigning and all sociology polls of citizens in North and South Baggnagia that had been taken prior.

Military Council of South Baggnagia is also putting in personal effort into basically propaganda of the Double-Referendum. The military government insists that citizens should show up and create a large turnout for this historic vote. Otherwise they believe that South Baggnagia will not be able to move forward without clarifying this question with the northern neighbors. Military Council has even been reaching out to the citizens of the North but also asking that the North Baggnagian military government promote the referendum as much as it can to its own citizens. A high turnout is a goal for not just one of the Baggnagian states but jointly because voters in North and South will not be counted separately but jointly. During the vote they will be looked at as a single voting population. That is why a large turnout between both nations is needed for maximum legitimacy of the vote’s outcome.

Divisional General Zbynek Fiala addresses North Baggnagians on the April 3rd jointly held Double-Referendum in North and South Baggnagia

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – Head of North Baggnagian military government Divisional General Zbynek Fiala addressed all North Baggnagians today. Division General spoke to North Baggnagians still in the North and expats who have migrated or keep migrating to South Baggnagia. The head of military government technically joined the referendum campaign with this address. He asked that all North Baggnagians still in North Baggnagia go out and vote in the Double-Referendum on April 3rd. That is the date of the vote that the Baggnagian Reunification Commission and the Joint Democratic Referendum Commission have come up with together. They jointly proposed it to the North and South Baggnagian military governments and the date was accepted. Public opinion in both nations shows that North and South Baggnagians want the referendum to come soon too because they have basically expected this vote since the war ended. The address of Divisional General Zbynek Fiala for North Baggnagians still in the North was to come and vote in the vital and historic vote on April 3rd while also being ready to get accommodated with the documents they will be asked to approve or reject before voting. They are vital for the national future.

The Division General’s address for North Baggnagian migrants in South Baggnagia was a request to return to North Baggnagia on April 3rd. Even if the referendum will be jointly held in both nations and even if they will be counted as a single voting population there are still certain rules. North Baggnagian passport holders and North Baggnagian citizens will not be able to vote in the referendum in South Baggnagia. Neither will South Baggnagians will be able to vote in the referendum in North Baggnagia. But only the South as seen an influx of North Baggnagians into their nation while North has not seen South Baggnagians heading for the North. Divisional General Zbynek Fiala clarified that this was not an invitation to return and permanently live in the North but only to come back for the important vote. He clarified that North and South Baggnagia have obviously warmed relations after the war but they did not have time to establish proper diplomatic relations. Both nations have exchanged small consulates during the post-war period but it’s unclear how efficient they would be for foreigners (North Baggnagians in the South and South Baggnagians in the North) to vote in them and how long would the lines be and the exhaustion of polling station staff.

For the better of everyone the North Baggnagian head of military government is inviting compatriots to return home only for April 3rd. Depending on the outcome everyone will be able to move onto to something new. In case of one outcome people on both sides will live in a single nation anyway and moving between North and South may become less critical while applying for a visa or new citizenship will obviously be no longer needed. But if the current status quo remains after the vote the citizens will have the freedom to choose whether they want to live in North or South. Divisional General Zbynek Fiala said that North Baggnagians would be caged no more. He also appealed to all Baggnagians in the North and South to turn up to the referendum on April 3rd to finally decide on this important question for both their nations futures.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

New Vesvai On The Lookout For Officials From New Vesvai’s Previous Government That Was Overthrown In New Vesvai’s Silver Revolution

New Vesvai’s Ministry of Justice says that the nation is still on the lookout for the officials of New Vesvai’s previous government that has been overthrown in the Silver Revolution. After resigning in its entirety all officials of the previous government left New Vesvai. Nobody has heard from them since or what nations or parts of the world they had fled to. A special interest is towards the whereabouts of New Vesvai’s former Prime Minister Beana Villano who led the government that was overthrown and New Vesvai’s former Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet. He was also the cabinet official in that government and credited as being the author of many crimes that the previous government planned to commit in secret leaked documents were it not stopped by New Vesvai’s uprising. Technically they did not have time to commit those crimes because they lost power before that could be achieved but the intention to do so could partially be looked at as criminal offense on its own. Even if it was not committed. New Vesvai’s Head of the Intelligence Directorate Kaleo Aitebi said that the agents could find the overseas location of these people if New Vesvai’s government just gave such a task. Aitebi said he doubts that the Dominion of Vesvai has given secret political asylum to the previous Villano-led government because that government also planned to provoke a war with the Dominion of Vesvai. In other words the Dominion of Vesvai are not big fans of that past government either to say the least but relations with the current government led by Prime Minister Adi Letago could be even worse. But Head of the Intelligence Directorate Kaleo Aitebi says that New Vesvai’s agents can look into that theory just in case if the former government’s officials are in the Dominion just in case they managed to make up and now conspire against New Vesvai together. Some opposition MPs are skeptical if any of this hunting after the previous government is needed because even if they intended to commit their crimes they were stopped before doing so. Technically that doesn’t make the past regime criminals according to their logic. The worst thing they think the past regime could be accused of is corruption and that’s something that the prosecutors could definitely look into. Other than that some apologists of the previous regime believe that New Vesvai’s Supreme Court should give them amnesty for the secret illegal plans they wanted to do but ultimately did not do. That is causing a stir in New Vesvai’s Parliament because others are arguing that it would not deter any future politicians from planning crimes because they would be let off easy if they didn’t have time to commit them. Looks like this might be a question of public debate within New Vesvai’s government and New Vesvai’s society for some time.

New Virus Spreads into the Empire

Ciolani Coast Media
Alec Malisos

A new flu-like virus discovered out of the island of Ritterland has caught some attention after a number of cases have appeared here in Ciolan, Kurzera. In Ciolan, more than fifty cases have been identified, with about half among those forty or older. This number is projected to be larger since younger people do not feel symptoms as strongly. Efforts to identify this virus have yielded no results to give clues as to what virus it could be. Some experts are claiming that it is a novel virus.

Meanwhile, officials are working to medical professionals to try to handle this virus, as prime tourist season hits the province. Travel to and from Ritterland is suspended for the time being, with Rezuans currently in Ritterland instructed to report to the Rezuan embassy for flights into specially designated isolation centers in Kurzera.

Despite these restrictions, no further limitations have been placed on travel. Citizens and spring-break visitors coming to Kurzera have been instructed to be mindful of their closeness to other individuals, to avoid touching the face, staying home if feeling ill, and washing hands more often. Kurzen Provincial officials remind the public to be as careful as they would avoiding getting any other flu. Businesses and public places are operating as usual.

BREAKING: Union Of Oblaren And Vesvai Founded After Oblaren’s And Vesvai’s Parliaments Finally Ratify The Union Treaty

Image

The world’s newest nation has just been born before our very eyes. The Parliament of the Oblaren Republic and the Parliament of the Dominion of Vesvai have ratified the Union Treaty that was signed in Fortwel, Oblaren by Vesvai’s Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal and Oblaren’s President Nathaniel Harrisbur. After ratifying it Vesvai’s Parliament passed the Union with Oblaren Act to fully legitimize it. With these actions by both governments the Oblaren Republic and the Dominion of Vesvai have been succeeded by a new joint nation: the Union of Oblaren–Vesvai or just Oblaren–Vesvai. Two fraternal island nations connected by cultural similarities and a similar history will now be living together and go into a better future together. They will be stronger together than what they both were apart.

Right now Oblaren and Vesvai still have their separate governments. That’s going to be the next step in further evolving the Union during a transitional period since its foundation. There’s going to need to be a government merger and also a constitutional merger. That’s unless a decision will be made to adopt a brand new constitution of Oblaren–Vesvai. There is also going to need to be a merger in all other areas or the replacement of Oblaren’s and Vesvai’s separate institutions with new joint ones. Currency and military merger are just two of the examples out of everything else that will need to be merged. It looks like the two nations who are now one may actually be able to go in a more unity direction than previously thought. But that will also be a question of discussion within.

For now Governor-General Andrew Gaileta would still remain the Governor-General only of Vesvai’s part of the Union. Another question will be of foreign policy variety. Before joining together Oblaren and Vesvai were both part of ROVAA but only Vesvai was and is also part of the Rhodeve Commonwealth. That means that at the moment Commonwealth jurisdiction only works on Vesvai’s part of the Union. The same with Queen Diana Wolff who is also the monarch of Vesvai and remains the monarch only of Vesvai’s part of the Union. A lot of question will need to be decided on but today’s not the day for that. Today is the day of celebration for the people of Oblaren and Vesvai or more appropriately the one people and one nation of Oblaren–Vesvai.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCMENT: VNNHD corporation has decided to change our network’s name in honor of the new Union of Oblaren and Vesvai and to have our media brand reflect the new nation we live in just like VNNHD had reflected the Dominion of Vesvai all these years.

Federal Government Threatens Relocation

March 24, 2020
Jean Factoire

It has only been a little over two weeks since the national Rhodeve government announced strict new measures to prevent the destruction of fish populations along the eastern Rhodeve coast, including the waters off Port-aux-Perdrix. Since then, the Rhodeve government has announced yet another measure. They are contemplating the subsidized relocation of several communities along the northeast coast of Ilyan Province, though there has been no word yet on which communities might be relocated or when.
Image

The Rhodeve Minister for Business and National Development, Rhonda Fitzgerald, gave a statement yesterday morning underlining the fact that no verdict has been reached regarding whether any relocation will even take place. "Please keep in mind that these measures are purely speculative, and no decision has been made regarding the subsidized relocation of communities. We are keeping all of our options open at the moment, to ensure that the right course of action is being taken."

It is safe to assume that many people will draw parallels from the current threatening situation and the situation along the southern coast of Iylan Province after the first fishing moratorium was introduced in 1998. As any resident over the age of 20 can remember, the federal government considered some smaller communities a 'burden on resources', especially after the moratorium squandered any economic opportunity for many villages. In response, the government offered financial benefits in exchange for moving nearly 1000 people from their homes while their village was absorbed by a nearby town.

"I just knew it. First they take our jobs, now they take our houses... just like they did to so many others 30 years ago. The Rhodeve government simply doesn't care about us small town folk. But I guess they must have bigger fish, that's what they say at least," commented Philippe Fillion, 55.

The Warden of Hauteterre County has assured inhabitants that he will fight for their right to stay where they currently reside, though he admits that it is a tough situation. "I can tell each and every one of you that you have the right to stay where you wish, and I will fight against all action from the federal government to push you to relocate."

There is one ray of hope amongst all the worries and fears, however. Between 1998 and 2001, all the communities that were relocated further south in Iylan Province had fewer than 500 inhabitants. Port-aux-Perdrix, with its 600-some residents, might be spared this time around, though some aren't so sure.

"They said they had to take stricter measures to protect fish populations. What is to say that they won't take stronger measures while contemplating relocating communities this time around? We should not count ourselves out."

While nothing in the future is certain, it looks as though our future in this village, our home, is less certain than ever.

Beloved Family Restaurant Closes Doors

March 24, 2020
François Lemaître

Chez Thomas has been run by the Bergeron family ever since it was opened by Thomas Bergeron nearly 50 years ago in 1973. Renouned for serving local, fresh seafood and keeping up with modern culinary trends, it has been passed down to Bergeron's grandson, Alec. Located at 173 Rue de la Baie, the restaurant had developed a reputation for good food, a homely atmosphere and world-class service.

As of Monday, March 30, however, the restaurant will close its doors for good. Although Alec Bergeron admits that it was a hard decision to close the restaurant, he says that it was necessary based on the current financial situation in the area.
Image

"It breaks my heart to see the restaurant close like this. I wanted to hand it down to my kids and grandkids, just like my grandfather did for me. But if I did, there would be no restaurant to hand down anyway. No one comes here anymore, no one has any money. Neither do we, unfortunately, so we have to sell. I'm deeply sorry to all of our customers who have enjoyed our service over the years, and I regret not being able to offer it anymore."

The closure of the restaurant will be a big blow to the local business scene, as the economy struggles to diversify after fishing regulations and allowances further restrict the income that can be made from fishing. One resident, 71 year old Théodore Lavaisseur, laments both the government's regulations and the ripple effects they cause.

"We wouldn't be here if we were still allowed to fish like we used to, back when I was young, but I guess there just isn't any fish to be caught anymore... it's sad seeing the world I grew up with slowly shut its doors and be lost forever."

Even the warden of the county has had something to say about the restaurant, where he famously paid a visit in 2013.

"It is sad to see it go, and it does not bode well for the future of our businesses in the county, but we have learned that we cannot trust the federal government to support our way of life, so far removed from Kingstown."

Opinions
Run Away, Fast

March 24, 2020
Julie Laronde

It has become apparent over the past month that the town I grew up in will be no more. The fishing regulations have devastated our economy and our way of life in this town, and we are feeling the effects in all other areas of business. Now, we have to contend with a government that doesn't even want us to live here.

We can see the effects of the government's ever-changing narrative already. I blame the closure of the beloved Chez Thomas directly on the new restrictions. Surely, the drop in business for everyone has just pushed the Bergerons over the edge financially.

In my last column, I called for us to work together to keep our way of life. The federal government, now, seems dead set on destroying it completely. They have made us aware that our way of life cannot survive in a modern environment. Now is not the time for optimism in the face of crisis. We must face the reality.

I know that I will not be able to keep my job here at the Pêcheur Quotidien for much longer. The situation here has made me re-evaluate all my options, and I will have to move elsewhere in search of work in the next year. I no longer see a way out. I thank everyone at the PQ for their years of friendship and hard work, and I hope that I am wrong. To anyone else, my advice is this: Run away, quickly.

Rec Centre in Baie St.-Paul Offers Badminton for Seniors

March 24, 2020
Marcel Laurent

Good news for anyone in Port-aux-Perdrix over the age of 65! Centre recréationnel Guy H. Mercier is now offering training sessions and reduced rates for seniors who would like to try playing badminton. Roch Côté, director of the Rec Centre, had this to say:
"We wanted to give back to the generation who helped build our communities into what they are today. It's really helpful to remain active as you get older, and to keep yourself mobile."
Image

He says that badminton is the perfect sport for seniors. It isn't all too strenuous, but gives enough activity to keep you energized. In fact, studies show that badminton is safer, on average, than tennis, which is very popular. Tennis balls can fly with a lot of force, and can lead to wrist, elbow and shoulder injuries, while badminton birdies are lighter and take less force to send over the net.

"Yeah, it's much better for reducing stress on the arm joints," approves Dr. Michel Fortin. "Badminton is a very good choice for seniors trying to get active. Being active can help reduce joint pain from arthritis, and can help combat the development of osteoporosis, and I think badminton is an excellent way to do that, yes."

Côté adds that the centre may plan on organizing a senior's tournament in badminton, provided there is enough interest. While excellent for senior's health, some are uneasy with the fact that they have to travel to Baie St.-Paul to have the chance to play.

"Why can't we play in the school gym? I think we should organize something ourselves, instead of continually relying on other people for our needs. If you'd like to get active, go for a walk outside, instead of giving Baie St.-Paul undue attention."

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

Officials From New Vesvai’s Overthrown Villano-Headed Government Reveal Themselves To Be In Kleinaruscha

New Vesvai’s search for the previous government overthrown in the Silver Revolution has apparently ended. On the same day as New Vesvai’s government spoke out on the topic and New Vesvai’s Intelligence Directorate offered to begin an international search the former officials revealed themselves. New Vesvai’s former Prime Minister Beana Villano, New Vesvai’s former Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet, the entire cabinet of that government and pretty much apparently all AIT’s coalition’s MPs live in Kleinaruscha. They have been under New Vesvai’s nose the whole time unless they were somewhere else before. Villano bravely revealed herself by recording a video she published on her own social media and later asked for it to be televised on one of the local channels in Kleinaruscha. The first video was just of her. In the second one, it was an edited montage that showed Villano, Polvandet and all the missing faces from the previous government enjoying their lives in Kleinaruscha. This is now their new home since Villano revealed that the previous government in its entirety has been granted political asylum in Kleinaruscha.

Villano’s address early on started with an apology to New Vesvai’s people. That would give the assumption that the former Prime Minister and maybe her colleagues from the previous government had a sense of guilt and there was moral still left in them. But Villano immediately threw all of that possible sense of guilt away when she started attacking New Vesvai’s current government. She claimed that her government resigned peacefully and the leaked plans that the previous government had secretly architected at the time were never realized. That’s what makes the previous government not guilty of anything according to her because they didn’t have time to act on it. She also called out those politicians in New Vesvai who suggested that the previous government could and should be investigated for alleged corruption.

Villano concluded with an apology on behalf of her former government to what used to be the nation of the Dominion of Vesvai and which no longer independently exists. It is a known fact that one of New Vesvai’s previous government’s plans was to start a war with the Dominion of Vesvai by staging a false-flag attack where the Dominion would have been blamed for attacking New Vesvai. This would’ve gotten Sunrisia involved because of the defense pact and the government hoped that their joint forces could have taken over the entire island as a result. Looks like the Villano-headed government was hoping for something that ultimately ended up happening in Baggnagia. Except in Baggnagia everything turned out that way for actual legit reasons. Since what used to be the Dominion of Vesvai is an ally of the Kaiserreich and Kleinaruscha her government’s apology to Vesvai may have been influenced by those nations to keep positive relations between Vesvai, Kleinaruscha and the Kaiserreich. That’s a theory of some of New Vesvai’s politicians anyway. But it’s also coincidental that Villano and others came out just as talks of searching for them began again in New Vesvai. It’s also possible that the previous government did not want to become subjects of an international manhunt. Maybe they are even saving hope of being able to return home someday.

Activists Stage Symbolic Funeral For The Nation Of Vesvai After The Formation Of Oblaren And Vesvai Union

Today In capital Perloveu and cities all over New Vesvai activists are holding symbolic funerals for the Dominion of Vesvai. Although the nation has become an enemy of New Vesvai in the modern era it’s also the original Vesvaian sovereign state that ultimately everyone in New Vesvai has hailed from. Dominion of Vesvai was a Vesvaian sovereign state that united the entire island of Vesvai at one time and it was the same nation that achieved its independence from Rhodevus after being its colony for a long time. But the Dominion of Vesvai has now ceased to exist. The Union of Oblaren and Vesvai was formed in its place and also in the place of the independent Oblaren Republic. Many in New Vesvai are reacting to it as a somber moment. Even in New Vesvai’s Parliament some parties have proposed opening tomorrow’s morning session with a moment of silence. There was some reluctance but ultimately it seems that many MPs from the governing coalition and the opposition had actually agreed to go ahead with it.

But it’s not a sad day for everyone. In parallel with the symbolic funerals Vesvaian Nationalists are staging celebratory marches patriotically celebrating New Vesvai’s independence and statehood. They insist that New Vesvai is now the definitive Vesvaian sovereign state in the world and will remain so for decades or centuries to come. The nationalists are inviting New Vesvai’s citizens to celebrate the fact that those who live in New Vesvai today have managed to break-away from the Dominion of Vesvai at a right time and avoided being swallowed up by a new nation or disintegrated. They hail New Vesvai as the true land of Vesvaian nationalism, Vesvaian identity, Vesvaian culture and a nation that will become a home to all patriotic Vesvaians in and outside New Vesvai and a place of hope which will save the divided Vesvaian nation in the end.

Internet Shut-Down In Vesvai’s Part Of The Union Of Oblaren And Vesvai

Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai has been facing an internet shut-down since 7:00 a.m CST. Users have been reaching out to their internet providers but not many answers have been or are being provided. The questions are turned towards Vesvai’s leadership which still administers Vesvai’s territory until a common Union government is established. Nonetheless not many questions are coming out of there either. The Parliament has declared it to be a mystery just as much to them as it is to the local populace. There’s a theory a new cyber-attack against the internet on Vesvai’s territory may have been launched by New Vesvai or Sunrisia as top suspects. The military will be assigned to look into the situation. Vesvai’s leadership denied this has any link to the authorities intention to battle extremism in Vesvai since alert has been raised of possible unrest brewing. The leadership insists this is a separate issue either technical or a foreign-created one to destabilize Vesvai’s part of the new Union. People in Vesvai have been urged to stay calm and carry on with their daily routines while the problem will be handled.

Vesvai’s Leadership Forgives New Vesvai’s Pre-Revolution Government: Good Relations Maintained With Kleinaruscha Which Agreed To Give New Vesvai’s Former Leadership Political Asylum

New Vesvai’s former government led by the defunct New Vesvai’s branch of AIT coalition has resurfaced for the first time since being ousted from power in the Silver Revolution as it’s called in New Vesvai. This has happened just as the search for the whereabouts of the ousted leadership has been gaining momentum. So much so that even New Vesvai’s intelligence agencies were planning to get involved. But their target bravely came out before New Vesvai could start its predatory hunting and spying abroad. New Vesvai’s former Prime Minister Beana Villano came out and revealed that her, New Vesvai’s former Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet, their entire cabinet and pretty much all of their former coalition’s MPs are living their lives in Kleinaruscha. Villano apologized to the people of New Vesvai but called out New Vesvai’s current government for planning to hunt down and prosecute their predecessors. Villano said that she and her government did nothing wrong and no matter what morally questionable plans may have been leaked they were never committed. That’s why New Vesvai’s former government has nothing to be prosecuted for no matter what New Vesvai’s Ministry of Justice says. Villano also reminded that she and her entire government peacefully resigned from power. She called corruption allegations by certain political parties in New Vesvai unfounded excuses to have something to prosecute the former government for.

But her own homeland New Vesvai is not the only place that Villano and her government have been at odds with. New Vesvai’s previous government had secret plans leaked which ultimately led to their fall from power. Among those plans was an intention to start a war between New Vesvai and the Dominion of Vesvai at the time where New Vesvai would stage a false-flag attack against itself and blame Vesvai for it. This would trigger the defense pact with Sunrisia and according to this plan the forces of New Vesvai and Sunrisia were supposed to jointly occupy the Dominion of Vesvai. According to this leadership’s plan the entire island of Vesvai would come under their control. Supposedly this plan was architected mostly by Vesvai’s former Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet. Villano apologized on behalf of herself, Polvandet and New Vesvai’s entire government of that time and asked for forgiveness for even considering something like this. Today Vesvai’s leadership forgave New Vesvai’s previous government and declared that relations with Kleinaruscha would not be negatively impacted by them giving political asylum to people that once planned to wage war on Vesvai. Vesvai’s leadership offered to turn a new page and reminded that New Vesvai’s past leadership did not go through with those plans whereas post-revolution New Vesvai did fight the Dominion of Vesvai in a brief war. And that was done with the help of those same Sunrisians. But Vesvai was lucky to have allies behind its back at the time.

Cases Rise in Wilhelmsarchipel of the "Novel Illness," Imperial Ministry of Health Orders Quarantine and Research; Chancellor Denounces Sunrisian Actions

Image
Reichsminister Florian von Bothmer

Freie Reichsstadt Engelberg, Englean Kaiserreich -- Two days following the report of a novel illness affecting the island of Ritterland in the Wilhelm Archipelago (Wilhelmsarchipel), the Wilhelmsarchipel Territorial Health Commission has reported that further cases of the illness have been found in the 5 other islands of the archipelago. With this, the total amount of cases reported has skyrocketed to 2,500 and it is estimated that the unreported cases range from 100-500. This comes after the report from Kurzera, where about 50 cases have been reported of the illness. Due to these reports, the Imperial Ministry of Health has ordered a month-long quarantine of the Wilhelmsarchipel to prevent any further movement of the virus to Englean territories or the world. His Imperial Majesty cooperated with the IMH through declaring the territory as being under a state of emergency, and permitting the usage of the Schutztruppe if necessary to maintain the quarantine.

Reichsminister für Gesundheit Dr. Florian von Bothmer stated today that "It is apparent that the situation in the Wilhelmsarchipel is much more serious than we previously had believed. The presence of the illness in the other islands of the archipelago, and now in Kurzera, have shown that this illness is communicable and highly contagious at that. Both myself and His Imperial Majesty have come to the conclusion that we must take this challenge head-on and proceed to isolate and identify this illness so that we may work to counteract it. With this, I have ordered a month-long quarantine of the Wilhelmsarchipel that will be affective at zero-hundred hours tonight."

In addition to the quarantine, both the Imperial Ministry of Health and the Institute for Disease Control and Research have begun efforts to isolate and identify the illness - which is speculated to be a respiratory virus. Head of the IDCR, Dr. Olaf Wegener, has stated that isolation and identification of the illness should take no more than a week - as the IDCR has a significant database consisting of nearly every extant disease. Until then, he stated that citizens should remain calm and to practice normal acts of hygiene - especially the washing of hands at 20-30 seconds. "This simple activity can be of tremendous help," he said today.

Currently the illness remains unknown, but its symptoms have remained constant in emulating those of the common flu. However, some cases have reported much more serious symptoms such as intense internal bleeding within the lungs and seizure of the airways. It is unknown if these symptoms are from the later stages of the illness, or are isolated incidents due to the patients' health background.

FlaRakWgn VI "Sternschnuppe" anti-missile batteries of the Kleinaruschan Flugabwehrraketengeschwader IX

Meanwhile in Corentia, recent activity by Sunrisia in the attack on a Vesvai anti-missile battery has sparked controversy within Kleinaruscha and the mainland Empire. The attack by Sunrisian forces on the missile battery coincided with the arrival of the Imperial Chancellor in Kleinaruscha, which some in the Empire saying that the Sunrisian action could have resulted in an accidental - or purposeful - elimination of the Chancellor. Chancellor von Scherzinger, however, has not taken up the latter sentiment on the matter. Instead, the Chancellor released a statement today denouncing the attack on Vesvai, calling it a "Wild display of aggression from a power wishing to strong-arm those it opposes."

"Although the Sunrisian forces contacted their counterparts in Vesvai, this attack is a wild display of aggression from a power that wishes to strong-arm those in the region that it opposes. Actions such as those taken by the new Sunrisian President Addél Dîlectên show that the new Sunrisian government is willing to 'strike first' militarily on matters that it perceives as a threat to their Corentian hegemony, which is exceptionally worrying in the case of both Kleinaruscha and non-MDAA aligned nations in this region. This is especially true in the case of Kleinaruscha, which employs over 10 anti-missile batteries within its territory, and the Weniges Reich which has ordered one of these batteries for usage by its defence forces. In the cases of said batteries, may it be clear to President Dîlectên that the Empire will not allow such action to be taken against these emplacements - even with prior contact such as that in the Vesvai operation." In the case of Vesvai, the Chancellor has stated that the Empire is willing to assist the new Oblaren-Vesvai union if the latter nation so wishes.

In the case of the Weniges Reich, Weniger Generaloberst Emmerich Brestrich has been named the new commander of the Weniges Armed Forces by President Fehrenbacher. Generaloberst Brestrich was formerly a member of the Daredi Konföderaleswehr, but had resigned his position in that organisation in favour of joining the Weniger forces in their war for independence. In a ceremony attended by the commander of Englean volunteer forces in the Weniges Reich, Generalleutnant Jürgen Wächter, President Fehrenbacher personally promoted Brestrich to his position through a traditional Englean ceremony in which the head of state - normally the Emperor - personally places the new staff officer's pips on their shoulderboards. Following this, the new commander gave a short speech swearing his allegiance to the Weniger cause. Most notably, the new commander stated that he plans to personally see the Weniges Armed Forces growing into a force capable of "handling" the Konföderaleswehr without Englean support. In addition, it was confirmed that the WAF had indeed ordered an anti-missile battery from the Empire for placement outside of the capital for defence against Daredi or Sunrisian action.

President Addél Dîlectên Preparing To Replace The Current Cabinet Of Ministers And Other Administration Officials With His Own

Today, President Addél Dîlectên has met with the current Cabinet of Ministers, which the Dîlectên administration has “inherited” from the previous acting Apstérâ administration. At that meeting, the President went ahead with the progress of his intention to appoint a brand new Cabinet of Ministers and replace all administration officials left over from the preceding acting Apstérâ administration, with new officials that would be appointed by the Dîlectên administration. The President argued that the current officials in the administration were appointed by an acting head of state, who was not elected, but only filled the vacant presidency during a critical period. Being an elected President, the current of state believes that he has the responsibility to bring in new officials into his administration. Obviously, President Dîlectên would not do this single-handedly, because the new administration officials that he would nominate, would need to be approved by the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, before finally taking office.

The intention of today’s meeting was not only to declare that a final decision has been made to indeed nominate new officials for the Dîlectên administration, but also to thank the outgoing officials for the short period of cooperation with new President Addél Dîlectên. The outgoing officials would move onto new things after leaving their posts and giving them up to the President-nominated and Convet-approved officials. The only official currently exempt from replacement, but also not for a long time, is Cáldăs Flórêna, Secretary of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia in MDAA, who still needs to fulfil certain MDAA-related tasks on behalf of Sunrisia, as the paraphrased statement by the President illustrated it. Other administration officials temporarily exempt from replacement are Sunrisian Special Envoys, who would proceed to work under a new Department of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia in their current positions.

The meeting between President Addél Dîlectên and the Cabinet of Ministers ended on good terms with warm and friendly sentiment, according to everybody involved. The President will also be meeting with other administration officials carried over from the preceding acting administration, in order to discuss the transition of their posts to new President-nominated and Convet-approved officials.

In other news:

  • Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) Cálêr Ustrīnâ: “Even with the establishment of a union between Vesvai and Oblaren, the policy of individual sanctions against government officials of Vesvai would remain no matter what position they hold. That policy currently does not apply to the government officials of Oblaren, but it will depend on the actions of the new union and its’ domestic and foreign policy.

  • Department of Security states that Englean anti-missile systems and military objects/assets anywhere in Corentia, currently stationed and planned to be stationed in the future, will automatically become Sunrisian targets, but they would not be struck preemptively.

Lt. General Radoslav Meier and North Baggnagian Divisional General Zbynek Fiala discuss anti-virus security measures before the April 3rd Double-Referendum

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Military Council of South Baggnagia has discussed on an emergency basis the set of challenges that the nation apparently keeps facing. Just as all South Baggnagians are focused on April 3rd Double-Referendum together with North Baggnagia the attention has been shifted towards a new threat. A new and not yet properly researched virus which has been born on the island of Ritterland (part of archipelago under the sovereignty of the Englean Kaiserreich). Although a far-away territory it has reached Kurzera which is a territory belonging to the Rezuan Empire situated on the continent to the south of Ventismar. Today’s confirmed cases of the virus in far-away Ritterland has been confirmed to be 2,500. But there are suspicions of 100-500. This is according to the local authorities in the Wilhelm Archipelago (Wilhelmsarchipel) and according to the Englean leadership. In Ciolan, Kurzera local authorities and the Rezuan leadership have confirmed 50 cases. Kurzera is basically a neighbor of South Baggnagia first and foremost with a basic across the not-too-large ocean reach. Military Council has gathered to discuss the risk of South Baggnagian exposure to the virus which could come from Kurzera to the Ventismarian mainland. North Baggnagia is less at risk of exposure because South Baggnagia now basically serves as a buffer between North Baggnagia and Kurzera. But since North and South are heading towards a path of integration and movement of people between North and South has become easier it means that both Baggnagian states could come under risk. The specific possible outcome of the Double-Referendum could lead to the disappearance of the border altogether if the voters agree to go a certain way. That will naturally put all Baggnagians at risk. And this realization could even switch the outcome of the vote from the one that public polls have been demonstrating.

Lt. General Radoslav Meier, Chairman of the Military Council of South Baggnagia, said in advance that he does not support any ideas of postponing the referendum because North and South Baggnagians have been going towards it for so long. And now when that dream is practically reachable the fear of an outside infection is threatening to disrupt it. Lt. General personally committed himself and all of his energy to ensure that South Baggnagia remains protected from the virus but to make sure that the April 3rd Double-Referendum happens as previously planned. Right after the Military Council’s session ended Lt. General Radoslav Meier called his North Baggnagian colleague Divisional General Zbynek Fiala to discuss mutual efforts to ensure security from the virus for North and South and to provide safe sterile conditions for the mass voting in North and South.

Opposition parties Party for Central Approach (PCA) and Social Liberal Party (SLP) form the Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance

Image

Two of the most notorious opposition parties in the Daredi Confederation with the exception of the Germanic Union (GU) opposition coalition have decided to come together. Party for Central Approach (PCA) and Social Liberal Party (SLP) have announced that their parties would be forming a political alliance: Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance. PCA and SLP have toyed with the idea forming a political alliance for a while but never went through with it. The members of both parties said that they are ideologically too different to work as a single unit but they often strategically allied to oppose the Daredi government on many issues. They cooperated in standing against the previous PLFWCD-led government and against the current LPM-led government. Often it was to much success. PCA and SLP partially credit themselves for contributing to anti-corruption protests against the PLFWCD-led government which forced it to declare snap elections. PCA and SLP both had the best numbers in those snap elections in the longest time. They have also often gotten success for standing against the current LPM-led government and credit their stances or criticism as having cornered the government or having to take or change certain actions and policies. PLFWCD-led government and LPM-led government have called PCA and SLP parties inconsistent ideologically and also populist. But the reality is that this similar strategy by both parties has helped them win a lot of success and basically rise from the ashes. They have often been compared to each other in other ways and evaluated as being more powerful together and not apart. Looks like PCA and SLP have finally realized that they have more similarities than differences and decided to create a political alliance after all.

PCA and SLP parties are both old political parties in Daredland that have been around since before the Flaming Revolution. Most of the times they have been in the opposition but they had often also each won mandates in the past Daredi governments. Although neither has ever won enough to be a governing majority or be in a governing coalition. PCA is more centrist and SLP is more left-leaning. SLP often balanced between center-left and leftist. Both parties share a similar history in other aspect. They both basically committed political suicide when they conspired with the Legion of Germanic Daredland (LGD) party to usurp power in the nation. All of them were opposition parties without enough mandates but by using loopholes in the Daredi constitution at the time they used it to oust the elected governing majority and climb straight to the top. This caused outrage in the Daredi public and led to mass protests which became the Flaming Revolution. The government was deposed. PCA and SLP were thrown away as ruminants of the past regime which was labeled as pro-Englean. Since then after having lost confidence of the Daredi public they had basically no chance of a comeback. The parties either faced voluntary disbanding of themselves or at best trying to remain in the political opposition. This strategy ultimately ended up working for both although they approached it separately. Since the Flaming Revolution PCA and SLP largely operated on the anti-government stance and intense populism. PCA and SLP were ruthless critics of the PLFWCD-led government and harshly blamed them for every misstep playing on the public’s anger or disappointment. PCA and SLP said both their parties could achieve what PLFWCD-led government was failing to achieve or was ineffective in achieving. They attacked the government on domestic and foreign policy. To win back Daredi public trust they also had to shake the public image of being remnants of an ousted pro-Englean regime. Neither PCA or SLP ever adopted an anti-Englean stance and both parties are reluctant to address the topic of Daredi–Englean relations. Nonetheless PCA and SLP had distanced themselves from the LGD party and the rest of the pan-Germanist GU coalition. PCA and SLP also increased their support for Daredland’s membership in MDAA and SOWEFTA. In fact joining those structures became one of the foreign policy goals that they criticized and continue to criticize the Daredi government for not achieving. PCA and SLP say they would achieve that much quicker if they were in power. As mentioned before PCA and SLP credit themselves for basically ousting the PLFWCD-led government. Members of these parties always cite their role in contributing and partially organizing the anti-corruption protests against PLFWCD-led government and forcing it to declare snap elections. The populist strategy has worked because the numbers of PCA and SLP in the snap elections were very good with many mandates won in both chambers of the United Confederal Assembly. Both parties also did well in the local elections. PCA and SLP have their members in the Daredi Confederal Cabinet. Second Vice President of the Council of States of the Daredi Confederation Daci Bauer is a member of the PCA party. Special Representative for Interactions with the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg Niklas Böhler is a member of the SLP party. Both officials were confirmed to have participated in the negotiations between PCA and SLP to form the Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance.

As opposition parties PCA and SLP continue to badmouth the LPM-led government of today the same way they badmouthed the previous PLFWCD-led government. Both of their approval ratings have been steadily rising. It almost feels like them being part of the Daredi government that was deposed in the Flaming Revolution has basically been washed away from their reputation. And now both these parties who had been strategic allies will be a single force. From now on instead of being apart the Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance will speak and run in all future elections as a single unit if the alliance holds. For any Daredi government it will only mean a more amplified opponent.

North and South leaderships decide that April 3rd Double-Referendum will go on as planned with extra measures against new virus spreading internationally

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – Divisional General Zbynek Fiala and Lt. General Radoslav Meier, Chairman of South Baggnagian Military Council, had an important discussion over a phone. Their primary topics and pretty much the only things they talked about were the April 3rd Double-Referendum in North and South Baggnagia and the new virus that has been spreading internationally. Prior to their phone call both leaderships discussed the issue separately. South Baggnagian Military Council discussed it in their own session and North Baggnagian military government discussed it in theirs. Divisional General Zbynek Fiala announced during the North Baggnagian military government’s session that he supports for the Double-Referendum to go on at an April 3rd date as planned with increased security measures. South Baggnagian Military Council Chairman Lt. General Radoslav Meier pretty much had the same position. After both military governments discussed it earlier in the day South Baggnagian Lt. General Radoslav Meier called Divisional General Zbynek Fiala on a phone to coordinate the action. The fact that heads of both military governments had the same position truly helped reached a cooperation strategy much easier. The conclusion remains that North and South Baggnagia will go on with the North–South vote as planned with increased anti-virus measures for such a mass event. The specific measures will be announced later by both governments in an extensive list.

The reason why North and South Baggnagia (more so South) are so on edge is that the new and not yet familiar virus has basically expanded close to Ventismar and North and South Baggnagia first and foremost. The virus first appeared on an island of Ritterland in the far-away Wilhelm Archipelago (Wilhelmsarchipel) which belongs to the Englean Kaiserreich. On March 25th there were 2,500 individual cases of the illness confirmed there with 100-500 unreported being suspected. The next area where the virus expanded to was Kurzera which belongs to the Rezuan Empire. 50 cases have been reported there on March 24th. Kurzera is not that far away from North and South Baggnagia and makes both among the most vulnerable Ventismarian nations for the virus to come from Kurzera.

As military leaders Divisional General Zbynek Fiala and South Baggnagian Military Council Chairman Lt. General Radoslav Meier took a tough tone which they meant to both be encouraging and determined. They called upon fellow officials of military governments headed by them and upon North and South Baggnagians not to panic. All measures would be taken to prevent the virus from reaching North and South Baggnagia. Right now it will stay at the gates but not come inside.

West Zilveren Berg Initiates Unilateral Establishment Of Customs And Border Demarcation With Other Zilveren Territories

The State of West Zilveren Berg has decided finally establish its’ clear national borders. Since the division of Zilveren Berg, 3 separate Zilveren territories have developed, which today are collectively known as – the Zilveren Territories. 2 of them became new sovereign states – West Zilveren Berg and East Zilverenberg (with alternative spelling). The south to this day remains the South Zilveren Administrative Territory (SZAT), which has not declared formal statehood, but does have a government-liked structure watching over it. 3 territories of a formally-united sovereign state and a divided Zilveren people coexist in these 3 separate territories, with possible hope that their land might be reunified one day. Nobody really focused on establishing clear boundaries even, because there might have been some hope that reunification might happen sooner than later and lack of clear borders would ease the reintegration process. However, today, things have partially changed.

The West Zilveren government has concluded West Zilveren Berg and East Zilverenberg have already successfully established their separate sovereign statehoods and have continued post-war developed in different directions. West Zilveren Berg is a representative democracy without an ideology and East Zilverenberg is a socialist state. The South Zilveren Administrative Territory (SZAT) is going its’ own way as well. Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek said that reunification might be achieved one day, but until the Zilveren people in all 3 territories are prepared to come towards that, the current reality must be the focus. That also means that building and developing the current separate sovereign territories in their current form for maximum legitimacy and stability, must continue as a process. Therefore, the government has declared that West Zilveren Berg will begin the unilateral process of demarcation of its’ sovereign borders. At first the announcement was made by Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek as the head of government. Later it was echoed by the Department of the Interior and finally by the West Zilveren State Border Guard Service, a relatively new institution. Legally, this initiative was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate without much debate or argument among the government and the opposition.

Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek said that West Zilveren Berg has no border disputes with East Zilverenberg and the South Zilveren Administrative Territory (SZAT), therefore, the country would begin demarcation and establishing of customs on the current borders that West Zilveren Berg claims.

Sunrisia Preparing To Host The Upcoming MDAA Summit In Orentan

Image

Orentan is preparing to welcome foreign delegations for an approaching MDAA summit. This time it is the turn of the Sunrisian national capital to host the MDAA summit, as the last 2 summits were hosted in the capitals or major cities of other member states. The last MDAA–Daredland summit was hosted in Conordo, Edereon and the MDAA summit before that took place in Celstead, The Seven United (Damsmar). This time, the turn has come for Orentan and the hosting duties will continue to rotate in a row as member states usually prefer, unless circumstances suggest otherwise. The presiding of the summit on Sunrisian behalf will be led by Cáldăs Flórêna, Secretary of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia in MDAA, who will basically act as the lead host. Vice President Césâ Gáûdĕr might join the Secretary, maybe even President Addél Dîlectên will join to welcome the foreign guests. However, confirmed officials that are going to assist Secretary Flórêna will be the National Defense Consultant (NDC), the Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, and the Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. It is just unclear whether it will be the current outgoing ones or will the Convet will have already confirmed their replacements nominated by President Dîlectên by the time the summit comes.

Here is a list of countries, whose delegations are going to be participating in the Orentan summit:

MDAA member states:

  • Creperia.

  • Edereon.

  • The Seven United (Damsmar).

  • Sunrisia (Host).

MDAA associate state(s):

  • Daredland.

Special guest country/countries:

  • New Vesvai.

This is going to be first MDAA summit for New Vesai. It is expected to be breakthrough summit, because member states have been discussing offering New Vesvai to sign an association with MDAA, the same sort that Daredland has. This would be quick progress, as New Vesvai fairly recently signed the MDAA–New Vesvai Action Plan. The faster progress of New Vesvai’s through the path of MDAA integration in comparison to Daredland’s pace, has been estimated to be related the bigger stability of New Vesvai in comparison to Daredland, as the latter country continues to face issues with territories occupied by the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic and self-proclaimed Weniges Reich, as well as pressure from the Englean Kaiserreich, which does not intend to easily allow Daredland to leave its’ sphere of influence. However, even in the case of Daredland, the alliance has been discussing a new precedent to help the country progress without being tied by its’ unique predicament. MDAA has discussed the possibility of allowing Daredland join the alliance, with the exception of territories currently occupied and outside Daredi control. Secretary Cáldăs Flórêna discussed this option with Daredi government officials during his visit to Freihat, Daredland and this option will likely be discussed at the MDAA summit.

In other news:

  • President Addél Dîlectên continues compiling the list of his nominations for the positions in his administration.

  • Lawmakers at the Convet criticize President Addél Dîlectên for prioritizing his administration composition and not on providing protection for Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia from the virus now detected in Rezua’s territory Kurzera, close to North and South Baggnagia.

  • Members of the Egress Alliance and the Iron Dome Party have called for full evacuation of Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel, as well as all other Sunrisian nationals, currently in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. Civic Nationalist Sovereignty Bloc has called for the urgent delivery of protective gear to all Sunrisians in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia.

  • Members of Citizen Dialogue back President Dîlectên for focusing on the “cleansing the executive branch of the government from Sunrisian intelligence operatives” as soon as possible. Citizen Dialogue lawmakers have called out coalition partners and opposition parties for provoking panic, when not even North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia have reported any presence of the virus on their territories and have taken sterile precautions to keep it that way.

Sylva Čérny and Karel Čérny, daughter-father duo and leaders of the Socialist Bloc party, return to South Baggnagia after self-exile abroad

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – The Čérny family who are behind the founding of the South Baggnagian Socialist Bloc (SB) party have fulfilled the promise they had made not too long after the Baggnagian War ended. They are back home, back in South Baggnagia. Father and daughter Karel Čérny and Sylva Čérny have both landed in a Jugac airport from a nation they refused to disclose to the welcoming journalists. Since South Baggnagia is now on edge over the new Novel Illness which had spread to the not-too-distant Rezuan Kurzera the Čérny had to go through more checks than just customs. Both also had to go through a quick health check-up to look for signs of any presently known symptoms of the new virus. Nothing was found and both reported to be feeling well but they were still asked to disinfect their hands with a sanitizer on location before going further and to avoid touching the surroundings. After going through lengthy procedures Sylva Čérny and Karel Čérny went through the exit door of the airport and were greeted by a crowd of their fans outside. It did not take long for a political statement to made there and then.

I and my father can’t put it into words how happy we are to be back in South Baggnagia. We are honestly still struggling to believe that this is a reality. We might still be at our homes or on the plane dreaming. But this is reality and we are here and all of you are here. I can also say that I feel a different kind of energy in the air. South Baggnagia feels different since last time we left it. The air was filled with fear and tension. Now I feel a fresh Spring wind of freedom and peace. I can also feel hope because the divided Baggnagian nation may soon receive a historic chance to finally reunify.

I know that many of people who trusted in myself, my father and the Socialist Bloc may have felt confused and frightened on that day when we left the nation and later declared that we were going into self-exile. But I prayed that our supporters would understand that we did so out of fear for our lives. It was a very dangerous and tense time. Once we were in a safe location I immediately let our followers and the South Baggnagian people know where we were and what was happening. That was the first thing I did. By the messages I received later and by seeing you all here today I’m sure I can assume that you have understood and forgiven us. Bless you all for that.

We are happy to be back at a time when the Baggnagian War is over and the tyrannical regime in the North which threatened all Baggnagians has fallen. But the fight is not over yet. We have returned to continue what we had started before we went into self-exile. And that is to lead a nationwide rally for the full restoration of democracy in South Baggnagia and the nation we are going to live in after the historic vote of April 3rd.
Sylva Čérny, current leader of the Socialist Bloc (SB), daughter of the founder and former leader of the Socialist Bloc (SB) Karel Čérny.

Sylva Čérny was the initiator of the nationwide and popular but short-lived pro-democracy demonstrations in South Baggnagia. She led the peaceful revolt against the South Baggnagian leadership at the time: Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia. It was a body that led South Baggnagia without being elected and a body that was not in the constitution. Čérny called for the restoration of constitutional order, the reestablishment of Chamber of Deputies (the parliament) and the restoration of the office of the President and the Prime Minister, a return to democratic elections. All of these were abolished at the time and the nation was single-handedly governed by the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia an unconstitutional governing body proclaimed into existence by itself. Čérny later branded her initiative as the program of her Socialist Bloc (SB) party which she has basically transformed into the only true political opposition force in South Baggnagia. All other parties basically were self-disintegrated or merged into the Congress of National Sovereignty. The pro-democracy message really resonated with people and soon pro-democracy protests were taking place all around South Baggnagia. But that didn’t last long.

After the power in the nation was peacefully taken over by the military from the Congress of National Sovereignty and the Military Council of South Baggnagia was founded the Čérny and Socialist Bloc-led movement ceased. Sylva Čérny, Karel Čérny and members of the Socialist Bloc fled South Baggnagia abroad out of concern for their own safety. They declared that a coup had happened and were afraid that the new military government would imprison or kill them. Since the Baggnagian War ended Lt. General Radoslav Meier, Chairman of the Military Council of South Baggnagia, addressed this problem for the first time. He declared that there would be no suppression or prosecution of political opposition or any political forces in South Baggnagia. It seems that the Čérny family may have believed him or decided to take the risk if they’re now back in South Baggnagia. But they also hinted they don’t believe that the Military Council will voluntarily leave power without pressure and thus declared that their pro-democracy movement would continue where it paused. Sylva Čérny said that other self-exiled members of the Socialist Bloc would be returning to South Baggnagia soon too. From there the party would resume leading the nationwide pro-democracy movement.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

Government And Opposition Debate In The Parliament On Whether There Should Be A Referendum Held On Joining MDAA And SOWEFTA

Government and opposition MPs have clashed over the approach that should be taken towards Vesvai’s accession to Corentian bloc like MDAA and SOWEFTA. MPs from the parties with the governing majority: the National Renewal (NR), the Nationalist Bloc (NB) and the Pro-Independence Coalition (PIC) say that New Vesvai should just move ahead with pursuing membership there without delays. MPs from many opposition parties have fired back at the governing NR–BOA coalition. There has almost been a sort of anti-government bloc of opposition parties formed at the Parliament during this clash. These parties claim that New Vesvai can’t join neither MDAA nor SOWEFTA until a referendum on membership in either organization is held. Some went as far as to say that New Vesvai shouldn’t have even signed the MDAA–New Vesvai Action Plan without a citizens referendum on it first. And New Vesvai should definitely not sign an association with MDAA that the alliance has been proposing to the nation. The Action Plan and the association automatically attach New Vesvai to MDAA and it will be hard to pull away from the organization even if the citizens of New Vesvai don’t approve it or change their mind. These opposition parties have a similar stance on any dealings with SOWEFTA and said that at most New Vesvai can sign trade deals with the bloc without asking the citizens first. But any integration deals with SOWEFTA should go through a referendum first the same way as any deals with MDAA should go through a referendum first. Of course some opposition parties are more favorable of SOWEFTA more than MDAA and others vice versa.

MPs from the majority-holding NR–BOA coalition respond to the opposition’s accusations with the following arguments. They argued that on foreign policy programs of the governing parties MDAA and SOWEFTA membership was there. So if the citizens voted for these parties to lead the government that means that they also support their internal and foreign policy course. The citizens were given full free will to give their support to whomever they wanted. Some MPs from NR party specifically said that New Vesvai’s Silver Revolution also partially had a pro-MDAA and pro-SOWEFTA sentiment. As the “Party of the Revolution”: NR which was founded and led by the revolution’s leader and New Vesvai’s current Prime Minister Adi Letago the party has an obligation to deliver on foreign policy hopes of the revolution too. The supporters of the revolution in New Vesvai have known this from the start and many remain hopeful and supportive of this course.

The debate at the Parliament was heated but it didn’t seem like for now there has been any understanding reached. Everyone staid by their own position. PM Adi Letago was not present at the Parliament during this heated discussion. The debate on New Vesvai’s membership in Corentian blocs is happening close to the approaching MDAA summit in Orentan, Sunrisia. It’s going to be the first MDAA summit for New Vesvai’s where it’s going to be a special guest nation. New Vesvai hopes to sign an association with MDAA at that summit which the alliance has proposed to the hopeful nation. The MDAA summit and New Vesvai’s progressing integration into Corentian blocs is also happening shortly after the neighboring Dominion of Vesvai united with the Oblaren Republic to form the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. The new nation has a potential to aim for a status of a regional power and given that Vesvai was individually a credible threat to New Vesvai the nation is not at ease with this. So it’s no coincidence that New Vesvai is meanwhile progressing towards achieving serious backing.

North and South Baggnagia agree to temporarily close borders, end all air and sea travel with other nations except for each other over virus scare

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Lt. General Radoslav Meier, Chairman of the Military Council of South Baggnagia, and North Baggnagian Divisional General Zbynek Fiala had an emergency phone conversation today. The topic was to coordinate further anti-virus protective measures between North and South Baggnagia. Prior to the phone call the Military Council of South Baggnagia gathered to discuss the measures they thought should be taken. Afterwards Lt. General Radoslav Meier called his North Baggnagian colleague to hear out his opinion. The conversation had a goal to know of the North Baggnagians would maybe agree to implement similar sort of measures that South Baggnagia was planning for itself. Lt. General Radoslav Meier also wanted to know if the North Baggnagians had come up with anything and would have something to propose. Divisional General Zbynek Fiala informed Lt. General Radoslav Meier that the North Baggnagian military government also had an emergency session on this topic. They have also come up with some measures that they were going to propose to South Baggnagia and also wished to hear out the South Baggnagian leadership’s opinion. Some of proposals from both sides coincided while some were new to each other. By putting the agreed-upon different ideas together and combining them with coinciding ideas the North and South leaderships have come up with a list of joint measures.

It was agreed that North and South Baggnagia would take measures against the spread of the virus that would only apply towards communication with other nations. Inter-Baggnagian communication would not be affected and both nations were not planning to close off from each other. Especially when there is a need to hold a Joint Double-Referendum in both nations at the same time on April 3rd with increased sterile measures. North and South leaderships agreed to close their land borders except for the land border between North and South Baggnagia. They had agreed to close their airspaces and air travel with other nations, except between North and South Baggnagia. They agreed to block cruise ship, ferry, yacht and other boat travel to their nations, except between North and South Baggnagia. Cargo shipping and aircraft would be exempt from the limitations. For a temporary period during the virus scare North and South Baggnagia have agreed to close off from the rest of the world but not from each other. When this agreement was reached over the phone Lt. General Radoslav Meier went back to the Military Council and called upon it to vote in favor of these measures where North Baggnagia would be exempt. North Baggnagian Divisional General Zbynek Fiala said he would call up a new emergency session of the North Baggnagian military government where they would basically do the same.

Confederal Ministers Karl Weiß and Lukas Armbrüster visit the demarcation line with the self-declared Weniges Reich

Image
Flag of the self-proclaimed Reich of Wenigberg or Weniges Reich

Confederal Minister of Home Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Karl Weiß and Confederal Minister of Defense and Protection of the Daredi Confederation Lukas Armbrüster have together to visit the demarcation line between Daredland and the self-declared Weniges Reich. They went there to examine the situation and speak with the troops of the Daredi Konföderaleswehr stationed there. This time their trip was focused not so much on national security regarding the deterrence of enemy forces advance beyond the occupied territories deeper into Daredland. It was also related to the threat of the new virus presently spreading in several parts of the world.

The Confederal Cabinet already had an emergency meeting on the virus called up by President of the Daredi Confederation Hans Receni. They evaluated that the virus which originated on Ritterland in Wilhelmsarchipel could very easily circulate around other former and current colonies or overseas territories of the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg. That involves neighboring Kleinaruscha and also occupied parts of Daredland’s Wenigberg region that are currently under control of the self-declared Weniges Reich. The free movement through the Englean-associated territories including those under the control of the self-declared Weniges Reich can threaten Daredland. That was the assessment made by the government in that meeting. Confederal Ministers Karl Weiß and Lukas Armbrüster have come to examine the situation and better determine what Daredland could do to contain the spread, protect itself and its troops stationed on the demarcation line.

Apart from obviously providing the Konföderaleswehr with medical and protective supplies from infection Weiß continued to push for a customs-like structure to be built on the demarcation line between Daredland and the self-declared Weniges Reich. He argues that at times of an epidemic threat it would better help control the movement from that area or close it completely if necessary. Armbrüster was more reluctant to support this idea but he did not publicly disagree with it either. Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan again blasted Weiß for this idea. He said that Weiß is using the virus threat for speculation and to promote the policy he has been proposing earlier. Potesinan also said it was dangerous because it would be the first step towards Daredland basically recognizing the secession of land under the control of the self-declared Weniges Reich. Finally he attacked Weiß for proposing that Daredland could close that ‘border’ at any time to contain movement from the other side as if citizens on the Weniges side are some type of outsiders or foreigners when in fact they are Daredi citizens living under occupation of militants and foreign forces. Potesinan was supported by Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People of the Daredi Confederation Andrea Färber. She declared that she could place her signature under every single word that Potesinan said.

The newly created Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance of opposition parties Party for Central Approach (PCA) and Social Liberal Party (SLP) criticized everybody involved in this story. They criticized Confederal Minister Weiß for using the virus to push his agenda, proposing to build a border between Daredland and its own detached territory and for suggesting to restrict movement of citizens on the other side in case it is needed. PCA and SLP criticized Confederal Minister Armbrüster for failing to either support or reject the proposition of Weiß there and then. They also criticized Confederal Ministers Potesinan and Färber for ‘playing partisan games.’ PCA and SLP noted how Confederal Ministers Potesinan and Färber were both members of the same party and they were just jointly attacking officials from other parties because they viewed them as political rivals and wanted to undermine other parties policies. PCA and SLP suggested that Potesinan and Färber don’t really care for the issue but rather care about promoting their party’s view on the issue and to discredit a cabinet official from another party with another approach.

Sunrisia Prepares Anti-Virus Protective Gear For Intended Delivery To Sunrisian Military And Humanitarian Personnel In North Baggnagia And South Baggnagia

Image

President Addél Dîlectên has apparently heard the criticisms towards him coming from the lawmakers at the Convet. The President was criticized for focusing too much on nominating officials for his administration and not being concerned with Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, countries that are in the zone of risk regarding the spread of the new Novel Illness virus, which has now reached Rezua’s territory of Kurzera, close to North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. The criticisms towards the President came from lawmakers and it did not take too long for the Sunrisian public to begin criticizing as well. In addition to criticism, parties of the governing coalition and opposition parties came out with their proposals and calls for specific action.

Members of the Egress Alliance and the Iron Dome Party have called for full evacuation of Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel, as well as all other Sunrisian nationals, currently in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. Meanwhile, Civic Nationalist Sovereignty Bloc, including its’ member and Convet Speaker Flórên Infána, have called for the urgent delivery of protective gear to all Sunrisians in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. Only Citizen Dialogue came out in defense of the President, praising him for taking the precautions of urgently “cleansing the executive branch of the government from Sunrisian intelligence operatives” and doing it as soon as possible like he promised voters. Members of Citizen Dialogue instead criticized coalition partners and opposition parties for attacking the President and provoking panic, when not even North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia have reported any presence of the virus on their territories and have taken sterile precautions to keep it that way. Coalition partners and opposition parties fired back at Citizen Dialogue for acting like the President, who is an Independent, is their party member, referencing their irrational defense of his irresponsibility, while also suggesting that maybe they were looking to become a President-favored party. Whether it was this counter-attack for coalition partners and opposition parties or something else, Citizen Dialogue has changed its’ tune today. The party now has come out in solidarity with the position that President Addél Dîlectên needs to take care of Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel, as well as other Sunrisian nationals in those countries first, before getting back to compiling his administration list. In this case, Citizen Dialogue has adopted a stance more similar to Civic Nationalist Sovereignty Bloc, which is to send supplies, instead of the Egress Alliance and the Iron Dome Party, who have called for an evacuation.

President Addél Dîlectên has reacted to the parliamentary and public criticism and took action today. The President reached out to the military governments of North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, and requested that they allow Sunrisia to deliver protective gear and other necessary supplies to protect from the virus, to Sunrisians currently working in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia in ACREFOR operation and other humanitarian missions. This request came as North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia declared that they would both be closing off completely to the rest of the world, except for each other, which means closing land borders, airspaces and territorial waters. By that logic, Sunrisia would also be placed with the rest of the world into countries that would not have access to North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. After he receives the green light from both leaderships, the commander-in-chief said he would immediately order for geared-up Sunrisian military forces, with anti-virus protective gear themselves, to deliver all necessary supplies to Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. Right now, these supplies are being prepared.

Sunrisian forces allowed to deliver anti-virus protective gear even after North and South agreed to close all borders except for the inter-Baggnagian one

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Military Council of South Baggnagia has decided to allow Sunrisia to deliver anti-virus protective gear to their personnel working in South Baggnagia. This exemption for Sunrisia from the rules of closing off from the rest of the world except from North Baggnagia was made after the Sunrisian President called Lt. General Radoslav Meier, Chairman of the Military Council of South Baggnagia, with a request to access South Baggnagian borders. It didn’t take long for the Military Council to approve of allowing Sunrisians access since they have helped South Baggnagia numerous times and are helping South Baggnagia to this day in post-war recovery. Sunrisia is also a nation that has so far not reported any virus cases apparently as it does not seem to have reached their part of the world so far. So there’s that too. Sunrisia was given an exception from the current closing off rules, but the Military Council made it clear that there would be no more exceptions after this to anybody. North Baggnagian military government reportedly got the same request and gave the same approval. This means that Sunrisian personnel there would also receive the anti-virus protective gear. Lt. General Radoslav Meier assured the Sunrisian President that North and South Baggnagia both recognize that they are in a zone of risk because of the virus being in nearby Kurzera. But both leaderships have taken precautions to keep those in North and South Baggnagia safe from the virus by closing off. That includes that citizens of North and South Baggnagia and foreigners in both nations would also be safe. Both leaderships feel responsibility for citizens and foreigners in their nations and will do everything to keep the virus out. In a way North and South Baggnagia are also nations that are taking precautions not only to keep the virus from their own territory but also to contain its spread into the rest of Ventismar. The combined stance of both leaderships is that North and South Baggnagia would not become the gateway for the virus into Ventismar.

President Addél Dîlectên Lets Go Of Officials Left From The Last Administration, Presents Nominees For Their Replacements

The last several days had enough multi-tasking for President Addél Dîlectên, which he personally admits of not being a pro at, as he prefers to be focused on a single thing at the time for a maximum good result. And yet, he has managed to balance between compiling his administration reacting to parliamentary and public outcry, which forced him to move towards guaranteeing the delivery of protective gear and other supplies against the Novel Illness to Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, while also having negotiated permission for Sunrisian access to those countries’ territories, after both of them have announced that they were closing off from the rest of the world, except for each other.

While anti-virus protective gear with accompanying other supplies are on their way to North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, President Addél Dîlectên has finished compiling the list of his nominees for officials and other personnel he would like to see in his Dîlectên administration. The President has thanked those officials from the acting Apstérâ administration, who have briefly worked with him, for their help to him personally and for their service before the nation and the country. The President then proceeded to let go of the past administration’s personnel, who will be moving onto new things.

The following is a list of nominations for administration positions by President Addél Dîlectên:

Non-Ministerial positions in the administration:

  • Líbêll Aûctórên – New National Defense Consultant (NDC). Replacing: Mústêll Cónsîla.

Some positions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the administration:

  • Aûdrî Elénên – New Minister of the Interior and Home Affairs of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Vacant.

  • Vénî Adsécĕr – New Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Nívâl Rêtráctăs.

    • Sánăt Pêrtínâ – New Vice Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Frîgăs Sécrêtén.

  • Vîsár Inpétăs – New Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Rêbór Acértâ.

  • Anímâ Sálûs – New Minister of Health of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Vacant.

  • Cóitâ Nêcétó – New Minister of Finance and Economic Development of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Fácîla Cónmodên.

  • Fídês Sódâlītás – New Minister of Industry, Trade and Commerce of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Absítâ Sépârátĕr.

    And the list goes on...

Some other positions in the administration:

  • Vósâ Lócīta – New Media Representative for the Administration of the President. Replacing: Aûra Erémítâ.

  • Lícīd Tâbélĕr – New Spokesperson for the Department of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Replacing: Hīmât Mácêra.

The final verdict is now behind the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, who will have to approve of the President’s nominations, before they can take office and become part of his administration.

In other news:

  • Geared-up soldiers of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) deliver anti-virus protective gear to Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel working in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, after the military governments have allowed Sunrisia to access their territories, despite them closing off from other countries, except for each other.

  • President Addél Dîlectên thanks Lieutenant General Radoslav Meier of South Baggnagia and Divisional General Zbynek Fiala of North Baggnagia for allowing Sunrisian access into their closed off territories to deliver anti-virus supplies.

  • Outgoing Department of Health of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia recommends all Sunrisian military and humanitarian personnel, as well as other Sunrisian nationals, who are returning from North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, to self-isolate at home for 14 days. Testing will be made available, in case anybody starts feeling symptoms that are currently known to be associated with Novel Illness.

Čérny family call for a continued pro-democracy uprising led by their Socialist Bloc party

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Recently returned Čérny family did not take their time when trying to get back into South Baggnagian politics. Straight out of the airport Sylva Čérny made a political statement in front of journalist that she, her father Karel Čérny and their Socialist Bloc party would resume their pro-democracy movement which was interrupted by a military takeover in South Baggnagia. The same military takeover that brought the current Military Council of South Baggnagia led by Lt. General Radoslav Meier. Fearing for their lives as the leading pro-democracy opposition force the Čérny family and members of the Socialist Bloc fled abroad and went into self-exile. Now that they are all back they will continue where they left off because they are not afraid anymore according to their own words. The statement that Sylva Čérny made outside of the airport quickly swept though all media in South Baggnagia. Today she made another statement and that one was linked to the decision by North and South Baggnagian military leaderships to jointly close all their borders and cut off connection from the rest of the world except between both Baggnagias.

Personally I support reunification of North and South Baggnagia but I will still have to get better acquainted with the Unification Treaty that the Baggnagian Reunification Commission has compiled. That is ultimately what will be voting for or against in the upcoming Joint Double-Referendum. I also did not get to accommodate myself with the new constitution for a unified Baggnagian state that will also be up for the vote in that same referendum. I practically just got back to South Baggnagia and I’m still basically in the process of moving back in so obviously I did not getting around to analyze those documents. Or forms of those documents available for the public. So I can’t really call upon my and our Socialist Bloc supporters to vote for or against. But I call upon you to research the documents that are available to the public and then definitely come to the Joint Double-Referendum on April 3rd.

Now on another note of what I wanted to say. We are facing a lock-down people. This is not a joke. North and South Baggnagian military dictatorships and that’s what they are, are trying to use the virus as an excuse to cut us off from the planet and cage us in. If we vote to unify back we are going to be caged in together in one Baggnagia. If we vote against unifying we will be caged separately in North and South Baggnagia. Cut off from each other and from the rest of the world too. So I call upon the supporters of the Socialist Bloc party, democratically minded people in South Baggnagia in general and even like-minded people in North Baggnagia to join our resurging and resuming pro-democracy movement. This is a matter of life and death, freedom and slavery. We are being given a choice between democracy and dictatorship. If we don’t act now tomorrow could be too late.

Karel Čérny, (founder and former leader of the Socialist Bloc) has supported his daughter's statements and calls for action.

Marshal Jan Tillich and members of the former regime being transferred from house arrest to prison cells before future trial

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – Overthrown North Baggnagian dictator Marshal Jan Tillich and his comrades within their regime had been put under house arrest before the Baggnagian War was even formally over. That was in fact one of the climactic moments that allowed for the South Baggnagian–Sunrisian victory and North Baggnagian surrender under the leadership of Divisional General Zbynek Fiala. He was the one sign capitulation of North Baggnagia as de facto leader while Marshal Jan Tillich was under house arrest. Today was the first day since then when Marshal Jan Tillich and his associates were released from under their house arrests. But they were not released into freedom, no. Instead, the North Baggnagian Armed Forces surrender them over to the authorities in Silcenda and elsewhere where former regime’s officials were under house arrest. The local authorities proceeded to take them from one prison into the other. Marshal Jan Tillich was transferred from the prison that his mansion in Silcenda has become for him. Or one of his mansions since others uncovered around North Baggnagia had been arrested by the state. The dictator has been taken to a literal prison into an incarceration facility where he would remain until the day of his trial. The exact same will be done with his associates within the fallen regime. Authorities in Silcenda are reluctant to publicly declare where Marshal Jan Tillich would be incarcerated awaiting trial because they fear riots if that location were to become public because the angry crowds might attempt to ambush the facility. Same confidentiality are being kept by other municipalities who avoid exposing the location of where other former regime’s officials would be incarcerated. Their motive is the same as that of Silcenda law enforcement colleagues.

Burch Shuts Down the Government

Image
Christopher Burch addressed the nation today

Birwood, Cardo -- At 3:45 P.M, the Prime Minister met with the King, outlining his reasons to invoke the Audrey Act of 1936 in response to the looming threat of a virus. The bill passed over 60 years ago transfers absolute power to the monarch and creates a King's Council comprised of the Prime Minister, the Defense Minister, the Health Minister, the Shadow Health Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister whose role is to advise the King. With the ailing health of the King and the advanced role of Prince Luke as of recently, the Crown Prince will have a senior advisory role on the committee. After the King provided his signature, the Prime Minister addressed the nation.

"With the first case of the virus found at our borders, we need to take definitive precautions to halt the spread of the virus in Cardo and across to our neighboring nations. Today, I have met with the King and we have decided to invoke the Audrey Act of 1936 so as to efficiently provide solutions to the imminent spread of the virus. For now, I would suggest limiting non-essential travel and please maintain above normal hygienic standards."

Hospitals across the nation are preparing for the worst and have begun to take extreme precautionary measures, even sanitizing their gloves before working with patients. Health Minister Dominic Dellit applauded these measures. "As of now, we don't know much about the virus other than the origin, so we must over-prepare and over-sanitize as we truly do not know what our future holds."

Opposition Leader Brooke Packer was critical of the timing, stating, "It's difficult to discern why the Prime Minister would do this before shutting down restaurants, hospitals and things of that sort. I understand the immediacy of the process, but there was no 'step back and think,' so to speak. Just pure panic."

The Crown Prince is due to address the nation tonight.
