5th Overseer Election Results

Postby Britonisea » Sat Feb 22, 2020 3:47 pm

5TH WORLD HIT FESTIVAL OVERSEER ELECTIONS RESULTS

The deadline for voting has passed and thus, it is time for me to reveal the results of the 5th WHF Overseer elections. I will first reveal the voting system that is to be used. First, we'll look at the second item on the voting ballot to determine if it is to be either borda count or instant-runoff voting.

Borda count•••••5
Instant-runoff voting••••4

10 users have voted; 1 abstained. 4 voters opted for instant-runoff voting, while 5 voters opted for borda count. Borda count voting will be used. The nominee that receives the least amount of points in Item 1 is elected.

Now, we can reveal the actual rankings themselves. 9 nations have voted, and I can reveal in alphabetical order that they are: Achaean Republic, Beepee, Besen, Ertzei Kishim, Izmedu, Kalosia, Polkopia, Todlichebujoku and Togonistan.

NationTotal
Darkmania13313332221
Natanya32231213118
Britonisea21122121315

Obtaining 15 points, the lowest amount, Britonisea remains as the Overseer of the World Hit Festival for an undetermined period of time - standby for further announcements.

The first four votes represent the results before the extension on Monday. At the time, of the four that voted, 1 user abstained from voting for a voting system. Borda count was favoured. Britonisea was first placed with 6 points.

The final list of participants at the 50th World Hit Festival will come shortly.

WORLD, THE HOST HAS A DEADLINE ANNOUNCEMENT

I've sent messages to a few of you already and in talking with Brit, I've decided to EXTEND the draft thread deadline to February 25th, 11:59PM PST, giving you all an additional 48 hours to complete and send in your entries. We are extremely close to triggering semis for the first time since WHF40, and it is my hope that this move will aid in helping that become reality.

As semis are looking likely, a modified schedule of what comes next after the draft thread closes shall come in due course. Stay tuned.

WORLD, THE HOST HAS A WHF50 ANNOUNCEMENT

I've spent the past couple of hours thinking about how the semis will go and planning the entirety of the rest of the WHF50 season. I want to stress that these plans are tentative and certainly subject to change, so do not take these to be set in stone. However, I've discussed with Brit the possible schedule moving forward, here it is.

Draft Thread Closes: February 25th, 11:59pm PST
Listen-a-long: February 26th, afternoon UK time (to be updated)
IC Thread Up: February 26th, 9:00pm PST
Voting Deadline: March 4th, 11:59pm PST
----
Semi-Final 1 Reveal: March 6th
Semi-Final 2 Reveal: March 8th
Grand Final Voting Reveal: March 10-15

What happens now?

Now that semi-finals are close to being a fungible thing, I'll begin the procedure of arranging everyone into their respective semis. As we are at the border of 29 entries, this means that I (the host) will likely remain the sole auto-qualifier into the grand final. I will discuss further with Brit the specific mechanics of how many we should qualify and how many grand finalists should there be once the final number of entries looks more concrete at the 25th.

There will also be a live draw for semis. It's currently tentatively scheduled the 26th; and I will do so in the lead-up to the listen-a-long. As a note (due to time constraints), it's unlikely I'll be able to make graphics for it. However, I will reveal which semi you will be drawn in and which half of that semi you will also perform.

A secondary live draw might occur for the grand final itself. Watch the space for this one.

Will the voting remain the same?

Yes! I will explain in more further detail once the entry deadline passes, but you will be asked to rank all entries in a full ranking, as well as send the usual information (RP, your spokesperson)
------
These plans are very tentative but if a nation wishes to have a former winner featured in a possible grand final interval act greatest hits medley, please let me know as soon as possible! I'm happy to talk it out and see what form you'd like this idea to take. I can't accept everyone into this provisional idea but my hope is to have at least 3 or 4 winners participate here.

World, I am pleased to say that the IC thread, though still in a very much WIP state, is now up and all entries have been transferred. This means that the voting is now OPEN

WORLD! START! VOTING NOW!!!

WORLD HIT FESTIVAL 50 - IC Thread

VOTING INSTRUCTIONS
We will be voting in the same way we have done for recent WHFs. You will be sending in a full ranking of all participating entries to me.

For this edition, rank all participating entries from 1 to 30, with your entry ranked 1st as your favorite and your entry ranked 30th being your least favorite. Please remember to also include the host in your ranking (represented in semi-final 1 as the interval act). For nations that are participating with puppets this edition, the points limit rule for puppets still applies. I'll also need pictures of your spokesperson as well and brief RP dialogue (ie. "Good evening Vodiznad! This is [NATION]")

For people doing spokesperson dialogue, it's going to be a two-phase voting reveal this edition. Your spokesperson will be announcing your nation's 5 points during the reveal.

This full ranking ensures that you will only need to vote once for the entire contest. Sending in a new ranking for the grand final is not required, though nations that wish to do so are absolutely welcome to send me new votes.

I will use your full ranking to determine your points allocation for both the semi and the grand final. For example, if Testlandia competed in semi-final 1 and sent me a ranking of every single participating nation in the contest, who gets points is determined by who competes with them. Testlandia ranked Bobville 4th in their ranking; but since Bobville is their highest ranked nation/favorite entry competing in their semi, they get Testlandia's 5 points in semi 1. This points allocation will continue until all points values down to 1 are exhausted.

INFORMATION ON QUALIFICATION

Now that we've hit 31 nations, a WHF record, we're now at a point where we have 15 nations participating in each semi-final. The previous WHF with semi-finals, WHF40, only had 7 nations qualify from each semi to create a grand final of 15 nations.

This time, a decision has been reached to increase the amount of qualifiers. For this edition, the top 8 from each semi will qualify to the grand final. Between both semis, 16 semi-finalists will qualify to create a grand final of 17 nations.

Hello!

It's been a busy weekend, so many apologies that the IC thread has hung in relative silence for a couple of days! As you can see however, we now have a grand final of 17 nations. I would firstly like to congratulate all nations that qualified to the grand final this edition. I'm looking forward to seeing how the final results develop and who our winner will be. For those that did not qualify, many commiserations. However, this is not the end of your World Hit Festival journey as a whole. Your full ranking will still decide who the winner shall be and what the grand final's results will look like.

I'm waiting on a couple of nations to send me updated votes. Note that that latter part is optional. If you have voted with the ranking, you do not need to send me anything extra unless you absolutely want to.

With this in mind, let's take care of the schedule for the upcoming days. My ideal to conclude the World Hit Festival as quickly as possible, ideally around the 16th.

GRAND FINAL SCHEDULE
Entry Transfer: Beginning March 11, 9:00PM PDT
Listen-a-long: March 12, 2:00PM PDT
Results Reveal: March 13-16 (Phase I: 13-14 | Phase II: 15-16)
Winner Announced: March 16

Hello! :)

As you can see from the IC thread, we are now officially midway through the results reveal. 66% of the available votes have been revealed, but things are far from being over. With the first phase of the voting complete, we move onto Phase II, which will concern your 5 points. As seen in the past, this phase is the most critical one in deciding who the eventual winner shall be. The specific time stamp is to be determined, but I do know whose votes I will reveal today.

The rest of Phase II will work out this way: there will be 10 votes on day 3 and 4, and 11 votes in day 5. I will reveal the first set of Phase II votes today. This means the winner reveal is likely to come at around Tuesday, March 17, Afternoon PDT.

The nations whose votes will be revealed are:
  • Llalta
  • Axuva
  • Nahlcomo
  • Besen
  • Malta Comino Gozo
  • Polkopia
  • Skanden
  • Achaean Republic
  • Vartugia
  • Todlichebujoku

I'll also try to update the IC thread in due course. I'm excited to reveal more of the results. See you soon!

In it will be every single ranking, how I allocated your points, and the full points breakdown of every single nation between the semi and the final.

If you have any questions about accessing the above link or about anything in the sheet, please let me know.

I also would like to thank you for the chance to let me host this contest as well as a hearty congratulations to the winner! It's been a wild ride since the beginning of WHF50 and I am so grateful to have taken this journey with all of you. I'm looking forward to the start of WHF51.

And I also can't be anymore prouder of Britonisea's overseership. Though I know he is continuing on for the foreseeable future, what he's accomplished in the past 10 editions has been extraordinary. I'm looking forward to seeing how future editions go and to also see the WHF grow even bigger than it is.

See you soon :)
