Deadline for Entries; Voting Begins - Monday 27 January, 20:00 GMT

A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

1. To start, you must sign up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You won't be penalized if you sign up and don’t end up posting a song. You then post the song in the IC thread after a host vote (see previous contests to see what a "normal" post looks like).
2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory, and other languages are encouraged.
4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the Committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one edition in order to qualify to host a following edition. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic and fair result.
2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the Committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if you do so and don't finish your entry by the deadline, you will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalized or not. You may also state that you are withdrawing from the contest on the OOC thread.
9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee. If you'd like to edit something in after the deadline, please ask the Committee for permission first.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee - it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Achaean Republic, Ertzei Kishim, Mister X, Polkopia, Todlichebujoku) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

National Finals (6)

Host Bids (1)

Disqualified Nations (0)

A reminder that this a ban on the user, not the nation: using a puppet to attempt to circumnavigate this will not be allowed.

Starting this edition, a new strike system for punishments will be implemented, where players breaking certain contest rules will receive strikes depending on the severity.

• One Strike: No immediate consequences;
• Two Strikes: One-contest ban;
• Three Strikes: Two-contest ban.
• Strikes expire after five editions; however, a strike expiring during a ban does not edit or shorten it.
• Bans stack; that is, a nation reaching three strikes within one edition is immediately banned for the following three editions.
• Bans erase strikes once they are completed.

Here are the following issues that can net you a strike:

One strike:
• Not voting in the contest (will also disqualify a contestant from competing)
• Changing votes without Worldvision Committee supervision.
• Posting halftime results when not the host or WVC & refusing to remove results (which also results in disqualification)
• Posting an incomplete entry.
• Not declaring a puppet.

Two strikes:
• Engaging in tactical voting.
• Intentionally refusing to vote.
• Attempts to evade a ban.
• Entering more than one puppet in the contest.

If you have any questions regarding the new strike system, please contact the Worldvision Committee and we can assist you.

Following their 4th place finish (and third consecutive top five placing), ETV ONE announced that not only will Elejamie be competing in the 79th WorldVision Song Contest but, following another brief search, they'll be sending Shireen with the song BE A STAR.

Nation Name: Elejamie
Official Broadcaster: ETV ONE
Song Title: Shireen
Artist(s) Name(s): BE A STAR

Tune: Michael Gray - The Weekend

Yes, the all caps in the song name was intentional. No, the slight fade at the end isn't part of the song, it's just that I didn't want to use the actual music video (which doesn't have it) out of fear of breaking the PG-13 rule even though it probably isn't that risque.
Elejamie (English); Elejamia (Spanish); Elejam (Iyilim) - Denonym: Elejamian - Pronounced (English): Eh-leh-jah-meh

"Welcome to Izmepisma. 9 songs have been chosen out of a field of hundreds waiting for their shot at Izmedu's WorldVision baton, but only one song can remain standing"

Arijana Kovac and Sandra Susa's 3rd place in Malta Comino Gozo came as a pleasant surprise for the WorldVision faithful in Izmedu. Fears had arose that an edition away alongside the domestic controversy surrounding RTI would lead to a soft start for an embattled WorldVision team. Thus, the high placing from an old WorldVision winner and an acclaimed singer led to a renewed resurgence of interest in the contest. Following a two-edition break, Izmepisma returns with its planned 25th edition celebration. Continuing on the theme of celebrating past Izmeduan entrants, the aptly codenamed 'silver edition' of the national final brings back both songs and familiar names that have appeared in the past 'decade' of the WorldVision Song Contest, starting from WV70. Many of the songs on offer here are songs that came close to winning their respective editions, but were graced with the silver medal. These artists were offered to be placed as possible acts for the World Hit Festival. Instead, they elected to wait for this particular chance. Their waiting has paid off, and now here they are.

However, RTI couldn't fill an entire NF with just old songs alone. An invitation was sent out to former participating artists from WV or Izmepisma to send new songs to the national final. After receiving about 17 submissions, 3 were selected to compete alongside the returning entrants. For the first time since WorldVision 50s, Izmepisma would have a singular Grand Final round. Thus, 9 entries stand here before you, waiting for your votes.

Song #1
RENATA/DINO, Olga Antolic, Ivo Spajic - Puno lita ljubaura
Translation: Summer Love
Tune: Takagi & Ketra ft Giusy Ferreri, Sean Kingston - Amore e Capoeira

Song #2
Daria Calic - Amar polibi
Translation: Bitter Kiss
Tune: Ани Лорак - Я тебя ждала

Song #3
Dora Skoric - Racuadam
Translation: I Remember
Tune: Noemi - I miei rimedi

Song #4
IgorIvo Izrada - ENERGY
Tune: Electric Fields - 2000 and Whatever

Song #5
Dijana Jurina - No Air
Tune: Tamta - Replay

Song #6
Jadrana Bogovic - Wanderer
Tune: Halsey - New Americana

Song #7
Lea Sabolic - Still I Rise
Tune: Celine Dion - Lying Down

Song #8
Letenje & Noviostar - Anywhere
Tune: Illenium, X Ambassadors - In Your Arms

Song #9
Nebeski Snaga - Unforgiven
Tune: Halestorm - I Am The Fire

International juries will vote by ranking their top 7 songs in the following format. 12 points to their favorite, 10 to their 2nd, 8 to their 3rd, then 6, 4, 2, and 1 points for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively. Your least favorite 2 songs will not receive any votes. To vote, simply send a TG to Izmedu with the format or send a Discord DM to Izmedu#6997 (and if you have a national final, let me know and I will vote for yours in return).

The final result of Izmepisma will be determined through a 50/50 split of the international jury and public vote. The amount of points that the public will give out will be determined by how many international juries vote for the national final.

Last edition of Worldvision marked another Top-10 finish for Polkopia and the PNB opted to continue the tradition of using a National Final in order to determine Polkopia's entrant for the next edition of the contest. It should come as a surprise to no one that this National Final will once again take place in the form of the Landa vy Polkopiya, which has served as the National Final for Polkopia for decades and is one of Polkopia's longest-running TV shows. The contest dates back to 1972, where the winner of the competition received a cash price and was flown to Peeto in order to record more tracks with an established Polkopian record label. Of course, times in Polkopia are much different now, and apart from exposure on several media platforms, the winner of the Landa vy Polkopiya typically has the opportunity to represent Polkopia in the Worldvision Song Contest.

The lineup for this edition of the Landa vy Polkopiya has been revealed! As always, the PNB is calling on international juries to submit their votes before the conclusion of the semi-finals, and this result will be mixed with a televote in a 50/50 format in order to calculate the overall winner of the competition. The list of competing entries can be found below:

Semi #1

#1. Anastasia Krinkol - Crazy
Language: English
Tune: Malou Prytz - Golden Touch

#2.Anna Viktoreevna - Angel'

HARESHET Announcement - Kdam WorldVision to Return

HARESHET today announced the rebootl of the popular selection show "Kdam-WorldVision" after a disappointing result in Malta. The format has returned on a smaller scale, involving 5 songs rather than the typical 10, however if it is expected to improve results, then the format may be more likely to stay. International Juries have been invited to assist in the selection, alongside voters from Kishrael itself. The winning song and artist will compete at the 79th edition of the contest in a yet to be determined destination, with the likely outcome of second place being considered for the next World Hit Festival. The name of the song will be announced at a later date.

1. Camila Benjaminez & Naobi
IZA, Ciara, Major Lazer - Evapora

4. Tatyana Shapsugh
Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

OOC: Voting is 5-1 points
