The World Educational and Cultural Organization (WECO) (Glanish: Verden Uddannelsesmæssige og Kulturelle Organisation) is a non-governmental organization based in Vænholm, Glanodel.
Its declared purpose is "to contribute to global education and pursuit of the liberal arts by promoting international collaboration in order to increase universal respect for intellectualism, diversity, culture, and heritage."

WECO pursues its objectives through five major programs: education, natural sciences, social/human sciences, culture, and communication/information. Projects sponsored by WECO include literacy, technical, and teacher-training programs, international science programs, the promotion of independent media and freedom of the press, regional and cultural history projects, the promotion of cultural diversity, translations of world literature, international cooperation agreements to secure the world cultural and natural heritage, collectively known as World Heritage Sites, and to preserve human rights, and attempts to bridge the worldwide digital divide.

WECO's aim is "to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information". Other priorities of the organization include attaining quality "education for all" and "lifelong learning", addressing emerging social and ethical challenges, fostering cultural diversity, a culture of peace and building inclusive knowledge societies through information and communication.

With the conclusion of Anna de Ouserad's two-year term as the Director-General of the World Educational and Cultural Organization, it is now time for the group's members and board to elect a new leader who will hold office until 2022. Who the 23rd official WECO Director-General will be, and what direction they will take the organization in remains to be seen. Whilst the sitting Director-General may campaign for a second term, they are usually challenged in their pursuit of another mandate. Only one Director-General of the group, Silas Lund, has served more than one term.

Delegates from each of the regional offices of the World Educational and Cultural Organization will now have the opportunity to submit their nominations for the new Director-General. These individuals will be cordially invited to participate in a number of events in which they may put their case forward to the various members of the organization.

With the conclusion of campaigning each national delegation to the World Educational and Cultural Organization will be empowered to submit their votes for their preferred candidate. The organization operates a two-round voting system which will see the two most popular candidates from the first round go head-to-head in a final vote to decide who will govern the organization for the coming years.

List of candidates:
  • Anton Kaveter
  • Kévin Dubois
  • Arabel Moreno
  • Kirsikka Huomalainen
  • Apollo Verdi

OOC: Nominations for the new Director-General of WECO may now be made by any nation within the region, over the coming day's candidates will be required to provide a speech outlining their campaign platform and the direction in which they wish to take the organization during their term. Additionally, candidates will be required to answer questions from the media for the duration of their campaign and during official WECO events. Nations may also participate by providing news coverage of the campaigns, though any major events should be agreed with the individuals in question (unless it is disprovable slander or libel) Participants are also encouraged to outline any political backstabbing/dealmaking that may be going on behind the scenes in their bid to get their candidate(s) to the seat of Director-General.

Name: Mwengo Tsurabba
Date of Birth: 1960, May, 11th
Citizenship: Mardki

Alma mater:
Triune University of East Mardki,
Mydroll Collage, (Masters scholarship in Agricultural Sciences)

Employment history:
  • Agricultural Commissioner in Zud Inland district (1983-1984)
  • Appointed Mayor-Executive of Narok Farmsmill (1985-1991)
  • Appointed Mayor-Executive of Wamba Civilian-Guild Corporation (1992-1999)
  • Social Security Advisor to Lasu Duz Capital Authority (1999-2016)
  • Triune University Academic Ombudsman (2017-2020)

Mwengo Tsurabba was born into Mardki during the early reign of the Presidential Dynasty of the Kwahil family, and received formal education beginning at age 13 after his first year in his village’s conscript army as part of the mandatory 7 year service requirement. After completing his national service requirement of 7 years in 1979, Mardki had a devout sense of duty to do the best he could to better the impoverished conditions he had seen combatting local gruella groups and policing villages, where children were tied to their mother’s wrists in public to prevent kidnapping and sold as slave labour to illegal plantations. Ascending the academic ranks studying economics, politics, engineering and theology, Mwengo Tsurabba was offered the position of agricultural commissioner for his home territory of the Zud Inlands. Finding little satisfaction in the practically powerless and bureaucratically strained work of the regional government, Mr Tsurabba applied for the notoriously corrupt position of Mayor-Executive in the urban cores of Zud Inland. In Narok he oversaw the enforcement of civil rights and fairer working conditions, along with fighting embezzlement by officials and syndicates. A glimmer of hope to the end of corruption in Mardki, Mwengo sucessfully completed his masters scholarship as an 'ambassador of peace' at Midrasian Mydroll Collage. Coming back to the coast in his later life to serve a key role in the University reforms of the late 2020s, to raise standards and crackdown on corruption, he turned his attention to the international community and felt a strong empathy towards the neighbouring states and histories of hardship in the world.

Campaign platform summary:
  • Establishing a Humanitarian Action Branch of the WECO to protect refugees and children from conflict and displacement, and rehabilitation of populations to promote lasting peace.
  • Encouraging inter-institutional partnerships and agreements between universities and hospitals to share and promote the virtues of knowledge and learning and improve access to medical care for the poor and stateless persons.
  • Increased focus towards archaeological studies and restoration efforts for historical buildings, artefacts, texts and promotion of ‘cultural committees’ in urbanized environments to provide an easier framework for infrastructure development in developed nations.
