24. Saviera
Clown, by Tom F. O. O'Leary

To The Tune Of Thief by Ansel Elgort

Thomas Ferdinand Oliver O'Leary Became Inspired to Write This Song When He Visited the Portal to Tijalantis in Saviera. He Wanted to Write About the Burning Fire, and Then Decided That the Burning of the Fire Reflected Well What One Feels at the End of a Relationship.

Later On, He Went to a Circus in Kajoyo, Saviera. It was Quite a Show. Very Entertaining. And That's How He Managed to Put Together the Words to This Song.

For the Big Night, Tom Decided That the Memory of a Broken Relationship was More than Enough to Accompany Him on Stage. To Everyone Else, It Looked Like He was Standing Alone Up There. He was Wearing a Black Leather Jacket with a White Shirt Underneath, Along with a Pair of Black Leather Pants.

As the Song Began, the Stage was All-Black, Save for a Single Red Spotlight that Shone on Tom.

Call me a clown
There’s been some foolery
I’ll put on a mask
Forget our past
It was a tragedy

As the Beat Kicked In, the Individual Panels of the Stage Began Flashing in Different Shades of Red. So Were the Lights Flashing in Different Intensities, According to the Beat of the Song. They Flashed Much Lie Strobe Lights.

Should’ve known that it was sketchy
The moment that you gave me dirt cheap
The satiation left me itching
The craving ain’t hit the spot

Tom Sings with Vengeance.

The memories I could relish
They left me out here feeling hellish
Like some sort of twisted fetish
My seeds you have left to rot

Tom Starts Walking Towards the Front of the Stage.

Drink after drink
I let the feelings sink in
I breathe, but
Can’t see through your heart

Blood drips from my fingers
These tears stay to linger
I’ll end the call
It’s falling apart

Tom Kneels to the Ground, as If in Prayer. The Stage Becomes Dark and Calm, Save for a Single Red Spotlight on Him. Based on the Song's Lyrics, He Does Seem to be Solemnly Reflecting Upon Himself.

Call me a clown
There’s been some foolery
I’ll put on a mask
Forget our past
It was a tragedy

As the Camera Shows the Entire Stage from the Front, a Single Serving of Pyrotechnics Erupts from the Edges of the Stage. Tom Then Slowly Gets Up.

I’ll walk through the fire
Burning our chemistry
You had set it alight
After the fight
Now we are history

Dramatically Clenching His Hand into a Fist, Tom Walks Around the Stage, Going Down the Left Catwalk, Where He Extends His Left Hand (His Right Hand was Holding the Mic) Out Below, While the Audience Around Him Extend Their Hands, Reaching Out to Tom. As This Happens, the Lights and Background Panels Become Intensely Beating in Red.

Life could be so heartless
Even if it looked so good topless
And as I’m drowning I still swallow
The empty lies you left me

Tom Turns Around and Walks Back to the Main Stage. His Left Arm Extended Again, and the Hands of the Audience Reaching Out to Tom.

As my nose is growing redder
My car smaller, my feet bigger
My skin is now growing thicker
Your words, I refuse to see

He Walks a Bit Slower Now, but He Walks Towards the Center Front of the Stage, His Left Hand Now Clenched into a Fist.

Drink after drink
I let the feelings sink in
I breathe, but
Can’t see through your heart

Blood drips from my fingers
These tears stay to linger
I’ll end the call
It’s falling apart

As the Emotions Build Up, Tom Kneels onto the Ground Again as If in Prayer.

Call me a clown
There’s been some foolery
I’ll put on a mask
Forget our past
It was a tragedy

Again, a Single Serving of Pyrotechnics Like Earlier. Tom Gets Up, and as the Beat Builds Up, the Flashing of the Lights Becomes More Intense as Well.

I’ll walk through the fire
Burning our chemistry
You had set it alight
After the fight
Now we are history

In This Next Part, the Red Lights and Background Panels Go Crazy to Reflect the Whirlwind of Emotions that Tom Expresses in This Song.

Join the circus, put on a show
And watch as people around you go
To have a laugh, this is such a blow
To my ego

Join the circus, put on a show
And watch as people around you go
To have a laugh, this is such a blow
To my ego

Now Everything Goes Still for a Moment, the Only Lights in This Part are White and They Move Slowly, to the Rhythm of the Song.

Blood drips from my fingers
These tears stay to linger
I’ll end the call
It’s falling apart

Now the Red Lights and Background Panels are Back and They are Flashing Intensely Like Never Before.

Call me a clown
There’s been some foolery
I’ll put on a mask
Forget our past
It was a tragedy

I’ll walk through the fire
Burning our chemistry
You had set it alight
After the fight
Now we are history

The Pyrotechnics on the Side of the Stage Begin to Keep Blowing. Endlessly. Tom Stands Still to Show that He has Control Both Over Himself and the World Around Him, but the Cameras Move, Circling Around the Stage to Add to the Dynamic Movement, Especially with Frequent Angle Changes.

Join the circus, put on a show
And watch as people around you go
To have a laugh, this is such a blow
To my ego

Join the circus, put on a show
And watch as people around you go
To have a laugh, this is such a blow
To my ego

As the Song Ends, Everything Dies Suddenly, Leaving a Lone Tom on Stage to Collect His Thoughts. The Audience Goes Wild. Tom Says: Thank You Valletta!!! God Bless Saviera!!!!! And Then Tom Leaves the Stage as the Delegation from Vartugia Set Up.

Error 404- "Song Not Found :-(

L33t!

A giant robot apears on the stage. As it is about to sing, it glitches out and end up singing numbers instead of the lyrics.

8 7 3 5 1 5 3 6 3 6 3 6 9 4 2 0 2 4 1 3 3 7 6 4 3 5 2 4 5
4 8 9 9 9 9 7 7 0 2 0 9 9 7 2 1 3 5 7 3 2

The robot explodes.

COMMENTARY - SPIRITUAL REPUBLIC OF CARYTON
Commentary by Carol Emerson, Master's Degree in Music - Music Theory Concentration
Broadcast by the Trinity Broadcasting Network of Caryton

Image
Carol Emerson in tonight's outfit for her commentary

"Good evening to those subscribed to the Trinity Broadcasting Service of Caryton. I'm Carol Emerson, with the privilege of representing our thoughts and feelings for the second time for this marvelous event. I'm here in the strikingly beautiful city of Valletta, Malta Comino Gozo where the 78th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest is being held. We are again graced by the presence of the Leading Reverend, Cary, and many others. I have a deep feeling that this edition will be one of cultural grace and dignity. Good luck to all participating nations. Let's get started, shall we?"

1 - Greater Korean Juche Republic

"What a way to start off WorldVision. Not as energetic or bombastic as I'd have preferred, but I can tell the Koreans are taking a modern approach and it's catchy. It's all propaganda but it sticks, music theory wise. A decent entry, worth two or three points maybe. If you'd like to vote for this country, please visit our website-- gospelchurchofcaryton.com.src/wv78/vote and select the bubble that says "Greater Korean Juche Republic". Good luck, Park."

2 - Spiritual Republic of Caryton

"Latanya, what can I say? Brilliant as always. Love this modern and uplifting change, but something about it seems retro, like an old workout video sprinkled among an amazing gospel experience. Maybe that was intentional? It pumps me up regardless. Again, sad that we can not vote for ourselves. If you want to talk about this holy experience, visit gospelchurchofcaryton.com.src/wv78/latanya and leave your impressions."

3 - Amuaplye

"A good statement on the press of other countries. The man has some good vocals, I must admit. There is a lack of stage detail, but otherwise, he's got me good. If you'd like to vote for this country, please visit our website-- gospelchurchofcaryton.com.src/wv78/vote and select the bubble that says "Amuapyle". Good luck.

4 - Lons

"Odd indeed. I doubt this one will get much attention. I started falling from it when he only sang in whispered falsetto and the rap-like beat came on. Is this what modern music has fallen to? If so, I might have just gotten this college degree for nothing. I decree, what point is music anymore if people don't even look at sheet music or dynamics? If you'd like to vote for this odd and sub-par entry, please visit our website-- gospelchurchofcaryton.com.src/wv78/vote and select the bubble that says "Lons".

5 - Talvezout

"Props to the pianist, she's really doing a good-... WAIT, WHAT IS SHE DOING TO THE POLE? How immoral! I would have thought that they'd have some morals after last WorldVision. On a musical note, the singer has serious intonation problems. She should not call herself a soprano, because she clearly can't reach those notes. Maybe a mezzo, but I strongly suggest something for an alto range. Artistic, but horribly suggestive for the children. If you're willing to put vocal inaccuracy and suggestive stripping aside, go to gospelchurchofcaryton.com.src/wv78/vote and click the "Talvezout" button.

6 - Todlichebujoku

"That's an abomination. The Leading Reverend has closed her eyes and the prophet is turning away in shame. If she were in Georgine, she would be arrested by now. Man or woman-- you do not present yourself in such a manner. Sex is sacred and meant for God's will, provided the couple in question is married. You know, premarital sex is a felony in Caryton? I can not accurately judge this woman because she did not perform-- she and her cadres filmed a pornography shoot. That's all I have to say."

7 - PR Joyea

"Who?"

8 - Diarcesia

"It was alright. I have no complaints, even if it seemed spontaneous. If you'd like to vote for this country, go to gospelchurchofcaryton.com.src/wv78/vote and click the "Diarescia" button. Good luck to you."

9 - Zamboodle

"... dysen-cary? REALLY!?"

10 - Polkopia

TBD

11 - Ruritane

"This is probably why 98% of Caryton is protestant. I have mixed feelings about it. The performer is... disgusting. The melody is okay, and the lyrics are so charged I can smell them from here. At least they can rhyme. The only saving grace is their background singers and dancers, but that's about it. That's such a shame-- I thought after "Ruritane Greatest Country", they'd bring something better to the table. If you'd like to toss your vote away, go to gospelchurchofcaryton.com.src/wv78/vote and click the Ruritane bubble. Good luck, I guess?"

12 - The Hlhata States

"Good lord! Is that woman okay!?" *pause* "Anyway, it's such a shame she couldn't perform."

13 - Scotatrova

TBD

14 - Ertzei Kishim

TBD

15 - Nekoni

TBD

16 - MCG

TBD

17 - Voxija

TBD

18 - Elejamie

19 - Micronation of Oceanland

"Again, I'm in love. Oceanland's 2nd entry and they've already blown me away. Jimmy Ruff is like a boy band without the band. If I were in my high school years, he'd definitely be the first crush I'd have. He's going to be an amazing performer in a few years if he gets the right scholarships. The performance itself was simple and carefree in a manner which I've only seen once last edition. This one's getting a bounty of points, we hope. If you'd like to vote for Oceanland, please visit our website at ''www.gospelchurchofcaryton.com/src/vote/wv78" and click the "Oceanland" bubble, good luck to you."

20 - Huelavia

TBD

21 - Achaean Republic

"Achaean Republic, what are you doing? I've had to avert my gaze many times during this competition, and this one is almost reaching Zamboodle levels. Have some self respect and modesty to not publicly sing about sex. Act like a human being and not a product. It's a shame such talent was wasted this time around, especially considering how well they did last edition. The unholiness of this competition makes me wonder why Dorothy Shirleyton even goes to these things."

22 - Natanya

TBD

23 - Nahlcomo

"The song was cute and poppy, and I got some good cake at the end. Definitely one of my favorites. I never expected an innocent song about baking to stick so much to me, but it reminds me of my grandmother who used to bake all the time. Vote for Nahlcomo at "www.gospelchurchofcaryton.com/src/vote/wv78" and click the "Nahlcomo" button. Definitely better than last time, so I expect a massive place jump."

24 - Saviera

TBD

25 - Vartugia

"As expected."

26 - Lactatia

TBD

27 - Yvesia

TBD

28 - Estogium

TBD

29 - Mister X

TBD

XX - PLACEHOLDER

TBD

30 - Izmedu

TBD

31 - Teezdexxia

TBD

The Spiritual Republic of Caryton
(CARYTON VIDEO)
A serene & puritan 80s-90s tech agrarian Christian fundamentalist nation with no separation between church and state. Wide prairies, fertile plains, archaic clothing, clean skies, lack of modern influence, universal prohibition, kind societies, and simple austere lives forge the Carytonic identity.

26. Lactatia
Chrissy Von Coochie - Uh Huh
(Yes, the IC song title is the same as the tune I'm using)

Got a big stick
In my pink lips
When you go deep
Love me like a princess

Making that sound
When you go down
Makes my head spin
Like a motherfucker

Feelin' close now
Gonna find out
Gonna find out now

'Cause my body feels some kind of way when you...
Uh huh!

We're at the point of no return
But I hope you wrapped it up, 'cause boy I don't want no son.
Uh huh!

I'm thinking that this may be real.
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel like
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel.

Made the bed rock
Got your rocks off.
Now I'm drippin'
With your love inside me.

It's organic
How our lips met.
With no regrets
And no second guesses.

Feelin' close now
Gonna find out
Gonna find out now

'Cause my body feels some kind of way when you...
Uh huh!

We're at the point of no return
But I hope you wrapped it up, 'cause boy I don't want no son.
Uh huh!

I'm thinking that this may be real.
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel like
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel.
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel.

(telling me how I feel)
(telling me how I feel)

'Cause my body feels some kind of way when you...
Wooh!
Uh huh!

We're at the point of no return
But I hope you wrapped it up, 'cause boy I don't want no son.
Uh huh!

I'm thinking that this may be real.
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel like
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel.
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
Uh huh!
'Cause it's more than just my body, telling me how I feel.
(telling me how I feel)
(telling me how I feel)
Uh huh!

ETV1 presents WorldVision 78 - English language commentary by Cerin Erali and Flynn Taggart

Image

Image

CE: Welcome to WorldVision 78! Bienvenido a WorldVision 78! Yalcom WorldVision 78! Live from Valletta, Molto Comina Gazo.
FT: Not even close.
CE: Slip of the tongue. Malta Comino Gozo! Melte Comin Yoso! I'm Cerin Erali...
FT: ... And I'm Flynn Taggart.
CE: And we are your English language commentators for this evening. For a Spanish commentary, Iyilim language commentary or to sing-along to each entry, please press the red button. Thank you. Para Español, Iyilim o karaoke, pulse botón rojo por favor. Gracias. Aspenol, Iyilim o cereoc - Ancelis o Aspenol, ne Iyilim - plaes toc rad boton. Fenci.
FT: You know how the voting works, they'll explain it later but just dial the number on screen, text to it or use the WorldVision App. We'll give you instructions on how to vote when we get there.
CE: Song #18 is us, so that's greyed out on the app which means you can't vote for it. You could try with your phone and texts but you're not gonna get anywhere.
FT: I think that's everything.
CE: Yes it is. For now. On with the show!

Opening Act

CE: And we start off with a video showing us all the sights and scenes from Malta Comino Gozo. All set to an orchestra soundtrack.
FT: Simple.
CE: But elegant. Hey, it's their motto. Kind of.
FT: Right.
CE: And then we come to the song itself. The song everyone does to kick the competition off, to warm up the crowd so even if it's a terrible competition they don't go home unfulfilled.
FT: And this song is decent.
CE: It's OK. Not super-duper great but I'm still positive about it. It did what it needed to do, which was to entertain the audience, get the crowd hyped and introduce the show.
FT: And we get to the hosts.
CE: They also did what they needed to do. Just talk to the crowd and introduce the contest. Also showed us the King of MCG, who should be in for a good time. I hope.
FT: Knowing a few of these songs, I doubt it.
CE: Maybe he'll have a sense of humour about it, maybe he'll even have a few unexpected interests. Who knows. Let's crack on with the first entry. Take it away!

01 - Greater Korean Juche Republic

FT: Not a good start.
CE: It's one of the better GKJR entries, that's for sure. Not high up on our list, though.

02 - Spiritual Republic of Caryton

CE: Makes a nice change from their first two entries. Not because they were bad but it's nice to see some upbeat gospel. I liked it.
FT: Not a fan of it but I still think it should do well. Won't win, though.
CE: But that's because it's second. Maybe it'll break the curse.
FT: Doubt it. But you never know what to expect.

03 - Amuaplye

CE: This is it. It's picking up now. Good work, Amuaplye. It may not be my sort of thing.
FT: Nor mine.
CE: But it's a definitely good entry. Wouldn't be surprised if it finishes in the top half.

04 - Lons

CE: And this is a face we haven't seen since... quite a while really. It's Lon. Or Lons. I don't know if you have to pronounce the S at the end.
FT: It doesn't matter.
CE: And it's fairly decent. Doesn't sit that right with me but I could still imagine this also doing very well. Might even pick up some points from us, who knows.

05 - Talvezout

FT: Isn't this just a rehash for their entry from last time?
CE: Sure feels like it. The staging's different but other than that.
FT: Not a great start to be honest.
CE: I don't know, Lon or Lons was a highlight, ditto Caryton, maybe Amuaplye.

06 - Todlichebujoku

CE: Toad-licker-bazooka there with another potential top five entry. Not nearly as great as Murky-something.
FT: Mürskütsá.
CE: But of course it'd be very hard to top that. But this comes close. Might get more points, might get a second consecutive win.

07 - People's Republic of Joyea

TBA

08 - Diarcesia

CE: They've been in the WHF, now they're going to give the WV a go, yes it's Diarcesia! And a quite good start from these guys. Not my favourite and might finish mid table but I hope they prove me wrong!

09 - Zamboodle

*no commentary, although the faint sounds of Cerin cracking open a can of beer and drinking it, as well as fainter sounds of Flynn headdesking, can be heard on the microphones*

10 - Polkopia

CE: Question, if Polkopia won again would it count as a threepeat?
FT: No, it has to be three wins in a row.
CE: Yes but it'd be three wins in their last three appearances.
FT: I think it has to be three wins in three contests, it won't count if they miss one.
CE: I guess. Let's talk about the song, shall we? It's a good one. It's Polkopia, after all! Brilliant stage set-up, brilliant vocals, definite favourite.
FT: Song was OK, didn't like that Z instead of an S at the end. It always bugs me when people do that.
CE: I'll just say we both liked it.

11 - Ruritane

(pure silence for a few seconds before Flynn decides to speak up)
FT: Was this song mocking me?

12 - The Hlhata States

CE: Well... hopefully we'll get a repeat performance? Preferably without any interruptions?
FT: Won't happen.

13 - Scotatrova

CE: It was good.
FT: Harmless enough.
CE: Will definitely do well tonight.

14 - Ertzei Kishim/Kishrael

CE: Kind of generic club sounding, with a slight hint of garage for extra taste, but I don't know. Something about this kind of works.
FT: Not that big on it but you expected that already.

15 - Nekoni

CE: Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant track. A definite top five. For me, definitely. Not sure about the multiverse but I hope they make the right choice.
FT: If I wasn't so joyless I would've danced to it.

16 - Malta Comino Gozo

CE: Our gracious hosts, sending yet another good entry. I won't say that it's a step down from Majorium, that was a different category entirely, but this should do just as well. Probably a few places lower if I had to be mean, which I hate to be.

17 - Voxija

CE: Voxija carrying on with the retro theme by sending something from the disco era. It's still a good song.
FT: Agreed.

18 - Elejamie

CE: Here's us. We can't officially commentate on it due to the fact it'd show bias but we do wish them the best of luck.
FT: Not just because we're contractually obligated to.

19 - Micronation of Oceanland

CE: Friendly, not just for the radio but also for whatever sports game you own. I kind of like it. I don't imagine it'll do well tonight but hopefully they'll again prove me wrong.

20 - HUElavia

TBA

21 - Achaean Republic

FT: That was fucking horrific.
CE: Ehh-nyeh-meh, yeah you're right, it was bad. The beat was decent but the vocals take the bumpability into, like, the negatives. So much autotune. Makes it sound all hollow and even worse.
FT: Congratulations on finally winning the competition, Acaya.

22 - Natanyeet Natanya

CE: After that massive disappointment, we've got Natanya! With a song that would've been their entry in Rosario but something happened and they had to drop out.
FT: Let's not get into it.
CE: But let's get into the song. While it's not super-duper great, I still lean towards positive here. I can see this doing fairly well. Maybe lower middle at the very, absolute least.
FT: At least it's better than the song that preceeded it.

23 - Nahlcomo

FT: At least Mister X will like it?
CE: I disagree, I'm also leaning towards positive. Should do better than their vastly underrated first entry, at least.

24 - Saviera

FT: Puns about the artist's name aside.
CE: Wasn't going to make any but anyhoo. Again, it kind of feels generic. Like that standard bassy synth. But again it still works. Could do fairly well, could bomb. Hopefully not the latter.

25 - Vartugia

FT: At least it's better than what they normally put out.

26 - Lactatia

FT: Standard Lactatian fare.
CE: But at least it was better than 76. Way, way, WAY better than 76.
FT: True, can't disagree with that. The squeaks kind of annoy me.
CE: Same but I can live with it. Really, if this doesn't get any points from the viewers back home, I'll ask Marc to make a dish out of a hat.
FT: Not how the saying goes but I can't disagree.

27 - Yvesia

CE: Song's good.
FT: Lyrics are a bit repetitive, though.
CE: Could cost them but overall, this should do fairly well.

28 - Estogium

FT: Another big-voiced female emphatic tune.
CE: But it's still good. Quite good, even. Wouldn't be a surprise if this finished top ten, like the BEAN nations almost usually do.

29 - Mister X

FT: At least he won the local election?
CE: At least the song's good? Just hope that girl's alright.
FT: The stagehands will fish her out later.

30 - Kalosia

FT: This is interesting.
CE: Also good. Sad but "sad" doesn't mean bad.
FT: Unless it is actually done badly.
CE: True but this wasn't done badly. This was done fairly well. Not a potential winner compared to, say, MercyRadio, but this will do equally well.

31 - Izmedu

CE: Oh hey, Izmedu's back after missing out on Majorium!
FT: Welcome back.
CE: Now we've got the pleasantries out of the way, I'm afraid to say, this song ain't great. Again, same genericness issue as entries 1#4 and #24 but there's nothing that makes it work. It's just there.
FT: Not that good to me either.

32 - Teesdexxia

CE: And, finally, we have another country who was going to take part in Rosario. Yes, it's Teesdex-xia.
FT: I think you needed to pronounce both Xs as one X.
CE: Either way, I also like this entry. Maybe it's because it's best suited as a last entry, a song to round everything up. On it own, it could still do OK.
FT: Not very positive.
CE: I know but what else could I say.

Valencia Bleau - "Flying"
Tune : https://youtube.com/watch?v=lWA2pjMjpBs

Valencia stand on a circular white platform as smoke filled stage floor surrounding the circle, behind her on the LED screens the audience was being shown.

Your eyes shining beautifully, I am suffocating
It feels like, it feels like, I am flying through the sky
Your love is intoxicating, oh I cannot breathe
I dont know why, dont know why,
I am flying through the sky

Valencia progressed to the chorus and bright lights behind her flashed as the smoke cleared off the stage and it began to rain around the platform.and smoke blew out the stage infront and behind her.

All of the birds just come and fly away
Oh, fly away

Sometimes it feels like I have wings to be spread
It feels so right I cant deny

I’m flying high, so high
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky
Flying high
It’s so right
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Time flies for the two of us when we take things steadily
Take it slow, do it right
Cause I’m flying through the sky

Your love is intoxicating, oh I cannot breathe
It feels so right I cant deny
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Sometimes it feels like I have wings to be spread
It feels so right I cant deny

Flying high
It’s so right
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high
It’s so right
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever

Flying high
It’s so right
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
It feels as if I’m flying through the sky

Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Oh yeah
Flying high forever
Flying high forever
Flying high forever

The rain stopped and she held the microphone, walking off the stage.

"Good evening, buenas tardes, kaló apógevma, lejla tajba, hyvää iltaa, masa' alkhayr, bona nit, boa noite, arratsalde on, and êvar baş! I am Isobella Bachelor, and I am TRT's official commentary for the 78th Worldvision Song Contest! We are coming to you live from Valletta, on the beautiful islands of Malta Comino Gozo. These islands remind me a lot of Talvezout to be honest, especially the bits like Tarabulusi and Telimane. This is Malta Comino Gozo's first time hosting the contest, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that I am rather interested in seeing how this night will go. Hopefully, for everyone involved, it's a good one!
OPENING ACT
What a lovely opening act honestly, and what a great way to open up this contest. This nation is a very beautiful one, and I think the opening video showcased that. And Malla Infidelo, that voice! She has the voice of an angel. All in all, what a gorgeous opening act. I'm excited.

01- Greater Korean Juche Republic
How very... Juche. Reminds me of the propaganda North Talvezout would put out way back in the 80s. It's giving me some cultural PTSD, to be honest. Anyway, this seems like a rather interesting entry. It's blatant propaganda, and I would honestly dock points for that. But, Park Hyeon-Il does have a very gorgeous voice, so points for that. Perhaps TRT could book her for Colors of Phoda[1]?
02 - Spiritual Republic of Caryton
I'm frankly not a fan of the big propaganda like entries - shout out to Gregoryisgodistan and The Sword Shop - but I do love good singing. And thankfully, this entry has that. Yeah, it's slightly generic feel-good gospel music, but it's good generic feel-good gospel music.
03 - Amuaplye
Work in progress. Or WIP. How do you pronounce wip? Like wip? or like an acronym?
04 - Lons
This honestly sounds like something we would send. It's got that indie, natural, vibe that we would do. And what a performance! Very much top 15 material. Top 10 maybe? I wouldn't be surprised if the Talvezian vote ranks this entry rather high, or rather if the jury vote does at least. We shall see.
05 - Talvezout
It's us! And what a great job the wonderful Sunny Siracauso has done for us. A+ effort. Siracauso wrote, composed, and recorded the song all by herself, and she staged everything as well. I have no idea how we are gonna place, but at least we can hold our heads up high with the fact that we sent a work of art.
06 - Tödlichebujoku
Kar berdewam e. An jî WIP. Tu wip çawa diaxivî? Wekî şilpikê? an mîna akronîm?
07 - People's Republic of Joyea
Lana martxan. Edo WIP. Nola ahoskatzen duzu? Wip bezala? edo siglak bezala?
08 - Diarcesia
Just to be clear - this entry is about gay sex, right? Like walk with my everything, what did I sense, and so on so forth - that's definitely about two guys getting it on. And honestly good for them. We need more gay sex in this world. Smash it if you want to guys! Also the song was cool. Forgot to mention that.
09 - Zamboodle
What the fuck was this?
10 - Polkopia
Another great performance from Polkopia. Like seriously, where the hell do they get all these great performances? Do they keep them in a factory or something, and just release them everytime Worldvision comes around? I'm bamboozled. Or zamboodled, rather.

And we are back from our commercial break!

28 | Estogium | Nala Parks - Inspiration

Postby Estogium » Fri Dec 13, 2019 5:06 pm

#28 ESTOGIUM
Nala Parks - "Inspiration"
Tune : Dotter - "Evolution"
Language: English
Duration: 3:58

Image
Estogium and Nala Parks: Estogium will be participating for the 31st time with the song, "Inspiration" in Valletta.

In what is set to be Estogium's 31st entry into the WorldVision Song Contest, in order to better results, RVC has selected Nala Parks to sing "Inspiration* in Valletta

Ever since Estogium took a break at the WorldVision Song Contest ever since the nation received their worst WorldVision result in sixteen editions (17th place at the WV74), it seems as though while Estogium has received top ten finishes at the WorldVision Song Contest, the results seem to be stable at the lower end of the top ten, with the nation finishing 8th and 9th in their last two participations. The scheme that has been put in place until the 80th WorldVision Song Contest has been successful in some ways, but RVC aren't moving any closer to receiving Estogium's first win. They're hoping that with Nala's effort at the WorldVision Song Contest could edge Estogium closer and closer to the win that Estogium has been waiting just under 50 editions for.

RVC has had better success elsewhere. The last time that RVC finished in the top 5 was the 62nd and 63rd WorldVision Song Contest where the nation placed 3rd and 5th in a row which looked as though things were looking up for the nation. At the World Hit Festival, which has the same team as those who pick the entries for the WorldVision Song Contest, despite the smaller field, Estogium is still doing better recently at World Hit Festival than the WorldVision. At the most recent World Hit Festival, Estogium and RVC finished 2nd place, 5 points behind the eventual winners and co-host of the 49th World Hit Festival - Britonisea. With RVC's attention being slightly swayed to the hosting of the 49th World Hit Festival, it is hoped that RVC is still making a concerted effort with the scheme it's put in place. Since Britonisea's withdrawal, Estogium will again be the only ABEN nation in the competition which brings increased pressure to do well since the bloc has very high standards set upon it from the international community.

Nala is feeling the pressure. She understands that not only representing Estogium at the WorldVision Song Contest, but the whole of ABEN is a huge task. Nala, a 23 year old from WorldVision Song Contest 73 host The Estograd, is up representing the country this edition. She had been practicing for this moment for ages; making sure that her stage presence wins her votes at home. Can she in the end? We will found out...

It was a very nervous time for Nala Parks, who was rather inexperienced performing in front of a crowd so large. She had been taught how to perform in front of a crowd and was slowly improving how good her stage presence which she did need to get better in. Nala had been performing on live shows in studios in Estogium which did help a tiny bit but this was a totally different ball park. As the 27th entry died down, it was now time Estogium to grace the stage in a rather late position of 28th. She walked onto the stage with the microphone in her hand. The dress that she wore was very flowy and was silver, embroidered with silver diamonds on the dress. She looked confident as she stayed at the back of the stage which was her starting position. A group of men were some distance in front of her, sitting down on chairs playing some of the orchestral instruments that you could hear in the back of the song. The scene was set for Nala to begin her song. A wave of nerves hit her, but as the arena went dark and the audience died down, adrenaline hit her - she was ready to represent Estogium at the WorldVision Song Contest.

During the very long instrumental at the start of the song, we could see a bright soft light facing towards the camera. The camera was slightly tinted to make the scenery look older, as though we were slightly behind time - maybe the posh 60s. She started walking, very confidently, from upstage to downstage, passing the men sitting down as she walked towards a microphone stand where she placed the microphone. The camera tracked outwards as Nala moved closer and closer to the microphone. As she reached it, for those at home, the shot faded to black before we were joined by another camera which showed a side view of her face, closer to the microphone. She started to sing the first verse of the song;

Woke up and I felt inspired to do much, much more
Oh I felt drowned by the sea of tiredness and pain
Swim through the high tide and ride the wave,
Just breathe; watch the worries wash away

The men that were around her all stood up with their orchestral instruments that they hand on them. There was a quick aerial shot of all the men standing up around her with her glossy dress sparkling in the middle amongst them. The men were all wearing black tuxedos which contrasted with what she was wearing. She sang the last bit of the first verse with the camera slowly moving in on her from the aerial shot. As soon as the chorus hit for the first time, all of the lights in the arena quickly went away, with nothing but a bright light on her only.

At the end of "I had a purpose" and into the "higher" sections, the lights pulsated along with the strong beat of the drum. More lights in the background also twinkled on and off along with the drum to make the stage more dramatic. After every other beat, the camera angle changed a bit and right before she came in to sing the chorus normally, the camera stopped itself right in front of her. After the "higher" section, she looked intensely down the lens of the camera in front of her. The lights in the arena flashed gold before dying down and keeping at a lower intensity light during the chorus when the cameras backed away and viewed the scene from an establishing shot of the arena.

I woke up feeling lighter
I woke up feeling better
And yes, for once I had a purpose
Ha ha higher, ha ha higher!
I knew what I wanted
And now I'm going for it, yeah
And I won't stop until I get it
Ha ha higher, Ha ha higher
Ha ha higher!

As the lights came on, you didn't notice anyone on the stage with her - she was completely by herself with the men who were around her being gone. As we swiftly moved on into the next verse of the song, she decided to take the microphone off of the microphone stand and pushed it to one side as she continued - in true ABEN style. The camera followed her and she moved her body a tiny bit forward. Cameras zooming in from side to side captured her in the middle of the stage, and with each camera that was on her, she made sure to give each eye contact. The lights and screen behind were golden and silver - a gradient everywhere, which was more shiny than mat on the screens behind her. She looked as though she was getting into the song as she started singing the verse...

I thought that I was alone,
All by myself, alone
But I realised that I had everyone around me
They inspired me to carry on
And they all gave me hope

There was a camera that was zoomed in over her shoulder and as she sang the pre-chorus, the camera pulled out with her singing into the camera - following it as it started swirling around her. Similarly to what we saw earlier, but now with the gold and silver colours, the lights were pulsating as we moved closer and closer towards the chorus of the song once again. She flicked her hair and sang strongly and confidently as she got closer to the chorus.

And I won't stop no
I'll keep on rising up
I've been inspired, yes!
I know what to do
And I cannot wait
Can't wait anymore!

I woke up feeling lighter
I woke up feeling better
And yes, for once I had a purpose
Ha ha higher, Ha ha higher
Ha ha higher!

With her free hand wide up into the air and the microphone to her face, during the section between the two singing bits. She slowly pivoted around, looking up at the rigs. During this section, the lights shone a bright gold, with the camera from afar showing the beautiful scene as Nala spun around in position. She was slightly jigging with each pivot she did, enjoying the flow and feel of the song. The wind machines also turned on, making her long and flowy dress blow off to the side ever so gently. A camera zoomed in on her from the front as she was making her way back to the front. She looked momentarily at that camera as she did make her way back round before putting the microphone back on the mic stand as she sung the bridge of the song. The lights in the audience died down as she continued singing. A projection of a light was shone on her dress as she went to the bridge.

And I won't stop no
I'll keep on rising up
I've been inspired, yes!
I know what to do
And I cannot wait
Can't wait anymore!

The camera that we were only quickly tracked back, over the audience, showing the stage on full as she continued to sing. The projection of the light beam on her dress because more intense. And by the time she sung the first four lines of the watered down chorus, the light beam suddenly exploded bringing the stage back to life with golden being splattered everywhere - the lights turned gold, the stage walls showing gold all around. Gold confetti started to fall in front of her. As it did, she looked up so ever slightly with the camera catching her looking up with a medium close up shot. She handled the microphone as one of her arms flung up into the air as she belted one of the lines of the chorus.

I woke up feeling lighter
I woke up feeling better
And yes, for once I had a purpose
Ha ha higher, Ha ha higher

I woke up feeling lighter
I woke up feeling better
And yes, for once I had a purpose
I woke up yeah, I had some inspiration ohhh!

I knew what I wanted (I knew what I wanted)
And now I'm going for it, yeah (And now I'm going for it!)
And I won't stop until I get it
Ha ha higher, Ha ha higher
I had some inspiration!

At the end of the song, the gold disappeared but the confetti still fell on top of her. She looked straight down the lens which slowly zoomed in towards her. She didn't have any facial expressions in particular. She looked serious before the audience came in with their applause. She started to smile and took a breath out, now looking less tense as she did so. She blew a kiss towards the audience, "Thank you so much" she said into the microphone before walking off the stage as the stage crew got ready for the next proceedings; the performance from Mister X.

Commentary Part 2.

Yay! Part two of the commentary.

Vela: Those lyrics suck.
Koldo: I have to admit, I didn't really like the lyrics either. The song in general was pretty mediocre.
Vela: Meh. There is one good part to that song.
Koldo: Oh? What is it?
Vela: Who. I like the artist. I would say he was hot, but he's seventeen and that would be creepy. His backup singers were more creepy than I would be, though.

tbd

Koldo: I liked this song. It was extremely catchy, and the lyrics are still stuck in my head.
Vela: Is it just me, or is there a trend of overtly sexual songs in this WorldVision?
Koldo: It's not just you, Vela. There was a hosting kerfuffle. Before they decided on Malta Comino Gozo, Caryton was going to host.
Vela: Makes sense. If those theocrats were hosting, I would wreck their dreams.
Koldo: It was a great song. I imagine it will be popular among Voxijans.

Vela: Another break-up song that tries to be sad but winds up sentimental.
Koldo: Yeah, the singer wasn't much of a wordsmith. It reminded me of K-pop, though.
Vela: K-pop?! I hate K-pop! You shouldn't have mentioned it was K-pop. The song used to have a chance, even if it was minuscule.
Koldo: The kids will love it, though.
Vela: You mean teenagers. Anyone under twelve is goimg to be smart enough to avoid this song like the plague.
Koldo: Geez, it doesn't deserve this much hate.
Vela: K-pop.

Vela: Why do you subject me to this torture, Nahlcomo? I listened to your song and NOW I'M HUNGRY!
Koldo: I think the song did its magic on you, Vela.
Vela: Makes sense. I mean, why else would a nation send in a song about making cake unless the performer wanted to make me hungry!
Koldo: It's not always about you, Vela.
Vela: That's not what I meant.

Koldo: That song blazed, man. It crackled like fire,
Vela: Flowery metaphors are ridiculous, Koldo. That somg was just very good. I think the songs are getting better as we near the end.
Koldo: Really? I thought they were getting worse. But this song isn't worse.
Vela: This song is great.

Vela: Okay, so, that was just numbers?
Koldo: Usually, I have an idea, but this time, I have no idea.

Koldo: I did like that song. I know what you're going to say, Vela.
Vela: Yes, I know I'm very predictable. That song is nasty and explicit and not in a good way like, say, Achaean Republic.
Koldo: I think this song will be pretty popular in Voxija, don't you think?
Vela: Since I would like to think that Voxijans are a good people, no.

Vela: Meh. Well, I know what that song was about, but that's cause it was one lyric hammered into my brain a zillion times.
Koldo: Yep. I like a good chorus, but not when a song is just one line repeated over and over and over.
Vela: An absolutely average offering. Pure mediocrity.

Koldo: I loved this song! It was happy and positive in a way that no other song was in this contest! It might even win.
Vela: Eh, no.
Koldo: What do you mean by that, Vela?
Vela: The song was good, but I don't think inspirational and encouraging are what Voxijans are looking for.
Koldo: Sadly, that is so. please-vote-for-this

Vela: Politics. I hate politics in WorldVision. This wasn't really propaganda, but almost as bad.
Koldo: I think it was a catchy song.
Vela: I think we have different definitions of "catchy". The voters don't do politics, and neither do I.

Vela: I'm crying, I'm crying. The song was so deep. This might be the best one yet.
Koldo: I agree. It's a shame that it came so late.
Vela: Are you kidding? It's going to be one of the last songs the audience will hear, which means it's going to stick in their heads more and then they'll vote for it.
Koldo: This song comes close to being a masterpiece. A suitably dramatic song, that manages to be sad in a way other songs can't do.
Vela: This one will be popular in Voxija. It will be a sleeper hit.

Koldo: This might have been the song that I was looking for. In hindsight, some of the nations were probably trying to save the best for last.
Vela: That is the best way to start a hype machine.
Koldo: This is one of the best songs, right?
Vela: Eh. One of the only few good ones.

Vela: That creeped me out.
Koldo: That song was confusing. I have no idea whta it was really about,
Vela: Whoops! I immediately forgot it. Except for the creepy.

Filius Deorum - "Why Don't You Like Me?"
Tune: Mika - "Grace Kelly"

Image

Opting very much to revert to type, MRX Television have decided to reference Filius Deorum's political career when he stood in the East Majorium local council by-election last month, and came last with 104 votes. His result was almost considered as a success given he had never been in the area before, so why he decided to stand there is a mystery to many.

Filius sits at a piano and there is a little girl standing on top of it.

Get down from there! (You can't tell me what to do, Mr Deorum, otherwise I will liquify and administrate your assets.)

Do you love me? Do you hate me?
Do I make you all cry?
Am I too scary, like Bloody Mary?
Have I been abusing you online?
Feeling dejected, never elected,
Am I too bad for your votes?
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you check out the polls?

The lights all fade up slightly.

I tried to go on the telly - heeee
But my looks were too bad - ahhhhhhh
People act like I am smelly - hhhhhhh
I am essentially maaaaaaaaaaaad....

And now the chorus. As each colour is mentioned, the lights all change colour.

You could vote red, you could vote blue
You could vote for the Lib Dems
You could vote purple, you could vote Brex-P
You could vote for who you like
Just not the Greens, please don't vote Green
Please don't vote for the Greens
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you check out the polls?

The girl makes an inadvertent comment...

(Getting angry doesn't solve anything.)

... which results in Filius stage-punching her and her falling backwards off the piano and through a trap door in the stage, never to be seen again.

How can I help you? How can I help you?
How can I change how you vote?
More spending axes or fewer taxes?
Feeling a bit less remote?
Why don't you like me, why don't you like me,
Why don't I like myself?
Getting a thrashing, voters are smashing
Up my votes in the box...

The girl emerges from the back of the stage, way ahead of cue.

I tried to go on the telly - heeee
But my looks were too bad - ahhhhhhh
People act like I am smelly - hhhhhhh
I am essentially maaaaaaaaaaaad....

And now the chorus. This time, the lighting turns into sunshines, happy colours, and blue, green, and yellow. Dancing suns come onto the stage, encouraging Filius to be happy.

You could vote red, you could vote blue
You could vote for the Lib Dems
You could vote purple, you could vote Brex-P
You could vote for who you like
Just not the Greens, please don't vote Green
Please don't vote for the Greens
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you check out the polls?

For the bridge, the lights all go down.

I'll say what you want 'cause I'm a populist (hey!)
But then I'll abandon all my principles for power, y'all
You all...

As Filius sings this next bit he seems to be in conflict with himself.

I could say yes, I could say no,
I could say nuance and think
Whether to say yes, whether to say no,
And get people to vote for me please
Gonna say yes, gonna say no,
Gonna be the right man
So that you'll like me,
So that you'll like me,
Check out the polls!

The back wall shows thousands upon thousands of votes being cast for "DEORUM, Filius".

Just vote for me, just vote for me
Just vote for Filius D
Just vote for me please, not for the Brex-P
Don't just vote for who you like
Please vote for me, please vote for me,
Please just vote for myself
Now people like me
Now people like me
Now I will check out the polls...

Hooooo

The back wall shows an imaginary declaration.

(Deorum, Filius: 23,163)

Ya-hay! Yes!

Kalosia
Time and Tragedies — Zlato
performed in English to the tune of Mosawmat — Massar Egbari

Zlato is a four-member band from Kafalon, the largest city on Kalosia's northern coast. The band consists of the lead vocalist Franku Ženoves, trumpet player Luiž Marseľanu, guitarist Sebastianu Rajmon, and Vietnamese-Kalosian DJ/producer Ǧovan Anh.

Founded amidst the dubstep craze of 2012, the band had been very experimental from the beginning, something that has been reflected in all of their music. But throughout the years, a pattern had emerged. The band found themselves mixing more modern electronic sounds with traditional and/or conventional sounds, often including experimenting with vocals. This is mostly the work of Ǧovan, though of course the other band members pitch in.

In terms of their lyrics, Zlato's songs cover various themes, ranging from typical topics of love to the headache of politics. Overall, though, they seem to prefer to sing about social issues. The different band members take turns in writing lyrics, though it often ends up being Franku who becomes the band lyricist. The band's fans say that you can tell who wrote a song based on what the song is about, and from that theory it can be assumed that it is Ǧovan who tends to write about social issues. Linguistically, they tend to sing in Kalosian, sometimes incorporating phrases or entire verses in English into their songs. They had previously released a handful of songs in English, though, and they chose to sing in English for their WV participation.

The song they're about to sing, Time and Tragedies, was a group effort and all four members played a role in the tune and text, but it was mainly composed by Ǧovan and written by Franku. The song was but a draft when they were approached by RTVK with the possibility of representing the island nation at the WorldVision Song Contest. Knowing that this was about to become their biggest project yet, all four of them collaborated and made the major decisions through consensus. Eventually, the end result was presented by RTVK as the Kalosian entry to the 78th WorldVision Song Contest.

Time and Tragedies describes a story that touches upon issues such as child abuse, teen drug use, mental illness, and possibly gang violence. At a press conference following their first rehearsal in Malta Comino Gozo, a member of the press asked what the song was really about. Franku answered that it was based on the story of a child raised in poverty who faced neglect and abuse from his parents, who turned to substances to find fulfillment in life, and spent a lot of time with small street gangs as a result. The 'beast' mentioned in the chorus is a representation of the mental illnesses and disorders that had developed as a result of his parents' failure to provide him with an upbringing. However, when asked whether the line "he reached for his belt" implied that the teen took his own life, Franku expressed that he will leave that open to interpretation, saying that, "no matter how you can see it, it's not a good ending."

Following Kalosia's 4th place in Majorium which came after a very tense voting segment, Kalosian WorldVision fans have felt a renewed sense of optimism that have made people feel as if Zlato had come under a lot of pressure for succeeding Mercyradio. However, the band's members have expressed that they have felt no such pressure, or no excessive pressure at least. In an interview, Sebastianu conceded that the pressure was always going to be high given that they were representing the country in one of the world's largest musical events. But he felt like it wouldn't be any different if it happened any other edition.

For the live performance, the four were wearing black t-shirts and black ripped jeans. It was something of a typical band setup — Franku stood in front behind a mic, Luiž with a trumpet on one side, Sebastianu with a guitar on the other side, and Ǧovan in the back behind a simple DJ stand.

As the song began with a big band sound, the camera was somewhat blurry (reflecting the muffledness of the song), but then the band came in focus. Ǧovan was the only one already in place, with the other three members walking onstage towards their respective spots. Franku had a mic in hand, and greeted the audience: "What's up Valletta! We are Zlato and we are ready to transform your world!"

The crowd cheered, the three reached their respective spots, and Franku began singing as the camera focused on him while exposing the background, which showed an line-drawing animation, white lines on a black background, of a baby coming to existence, rapidly aging into a boy. The boy develops scars and wounds on his face and arms, his clothes become ragged, and he becomes visibly upset. In the second line of the next part, Ǧovan pushes a button on his DJ kit that adds a baby crying noise, reflecting the lyrics.
Before he matured
This boy was once so pure
But the life he had to endure
Was so brutal and so dark
Sorrow made its mark
He lost himself and his heart

Camera changed to side angle but still focused on Franku, changing back to a closed up front angle halfway. At this point the background screen was mostly just a plain black.
What kind of evil soul
Would leave him in this hole
With no escape, no way out?
He needed to survive
With what could bring his demise
And that’s what came about

Now a camera circled the stage slowly, showing all the members of Zlato. At the same time, a young man stumbles onto the stage. His face was dirty as if he had been exposed to coal and soot. His clothes looked dirty and as if they were about to fall apart as well. He looked dazed and confused, but also lost. He passes by the members of Zlato.
The years came by full of thrill
Who knew that words could kill?
And everywhere he’d go
Had to put a violent show
He had to keep it low
Because no one could know

The camera focuses on the man, who makes his way down the right catwalk.
But then the foes get stronger
The fights, they go on longer
The anthem he had sang
It went out with a bang

At the end of the catwalk the man encounters a hooded figure wearing a black coat. The man, startled, starts running in the opposite direction. The figure comes after the man, creating a cat-and-mouse chase scenario on stage. They run around the band, who perform as usual, indifferent to the chase.
This is the story
That’s buried
In time and tragedies
And the beast
It will feast on
The poor boy’s maladies

The figure disappears backstage but the man keeps running for a while, until he realizes he is no longer being chased. Then on the background screen, which has mostly been black this whole time, a an animated white-lined drawing of the figure appears and makes movements that suggest he is laughing — at the same time Ǧovan recreates laughing noises on his kit. The man, startled, looks behind to the background, but then stumbles and sits on an ottoman chair with another ottoman and a round coffee table nearby, which on it has two champagne glasses of white wine. He looks exhausted.
For a bit, the camera focuses back on Franku, occassionally showing Ǧovan playing around with his DJ kit. This part is made interesting because Ǧovan, with his DJ kit, directly manipulates Franku's vocals. Whenever his voice is being manipulated by Ǧovan, there is a bit of a visual effect which makes it look like the transmission is glitching.
Clinking glasses with the devil
He sold his soul to rebel
But soon the world around
Him would dance in sight and sound
He should’ve written his will
When he swallowed that damn pill

The camera has some sort of pixellated transition which then shows the man again, closeup. The camera slowly zooms out, first displaying the champagne glasses, now empty, and then showing that sitting on the other ottoman is the hooded figure from earlier.
But then the foes get stronger
The fights, they go on longer
And the anthem he had sang?

When the man notices that figure is right beside him, he freezes (and so does the music). He slowly gets up, not losing eye contact, and then dashes out of view. After a moment, the hooded figure gets up too and starts making his way after the man.
Well it brought out the big monster
That his thoughts had helped to foster
But he went with a bang

As the band members sing their na-na-nas, another chase ensues between the man and the hooded figure, while off-camera, the furniture from the past scene are moved off-stage. The background and stage lights turn a deep but unforgiving red.
Eventually, the man, exhausted, collapses at the end of the left catwalk. The hooded figure slowly approached from behind.
At the end of the rainbow
There lay sorrow
Which was left for him by the greedy
He reached for his belt
Starving
But he had nothing else to feed on

Just as the hooded figure is about to touch the man, the camera switches to a close-up of Franku. As his voice is being manipulated a bit by Ǧovan in this next part, there are "glitchy" visual effects again.. Halfway through the next part, the camera slowly starts to zoom out.
And that’s the story
It is buried
In time and tragedies
And the beast
It will feast on
The poor boy’s maladies

A white flash is then followed by a camera angle circling the stage. You can see that on the catwalk, in place of the poor man is a figure literally in all-black — he is wearing a balaclava that covers his entire head as well as black gloves and socks. The man may as well have turned into a silhouette. The hooded figure holds his hand for a few moments, before then getting up and leaving the stage.
And that’s the story
It is buried
In time and tragedies
And the beast
It will feast on
The poor boy’s maladies

Now the camera angle switches between different members of Zlato as they carryout their final set of na-na-nas. As the music seems to slow down, so do their movements and so do the movements of the lights. After they do a final pose, the crowd cheer.
And so the song is over. As the members of Zlato break out of pose, the three band members run over to Franku and they all embrace each other. Franku grabs the mic and says, "THANK YOU VALLETTA! YOU'VE BEEN AWESOME!" before leaving the stage.

31. IZMEDU
Arijana Kovac & Sandra Susa - Immortal

Tune: Lindsey Stirling ft. Amy Lee - Love Goes On & On

'Immortal' had a long road from concept to the stage.

It started off life was a World Hit Festival entry, conceived of by two immensely popular Izmeduan names that each played a role in either Izmedu's contest history or in shaping Izmeduan music itself. The whole project surrounding Immortal was both a passion and dream project for almost everyone involved. It all came right down to the names heading the project. Arijana Kovac, a person who performed for Izmedu 4 times between the WorldVision and the World Hit Festival (and one of the winners of the 38th WorldVision Song Contest) and Sandra Susa, the frontwoman for one of Izmedu's most celebrated metal bands (Grupa Grobnica) and considered one of the best singers of her generation. For those that were chiefly concerned with how this would be received domestically, a collaboration between both was considered the stuff of dreams. The fact that it did happen, with a new song to boot, brought in an immense amount of hype when it was originally announced and slated to perform for the 48th World Hit Festival.

Time came and went. Arijana and Sandra, facing a channel struggling to keep up with its budget and existential purposes, missed their chance to perform in Llalta. Due to a myriad of contracts surrounding the entry and RTI nearly ballooning in on itself, and both WV and WHF teams nearly facing complete elimination from the channel. Both artists found themselves embroiled in a channel's fight to justify its own existence and its very reasons to stay in both the WorldVision and World Hit Festival. They witnessed an insular history within the channel. Arguments were made on either side as to whether or not RTI could continue justifying participation. Did the country's stagnation in the contest hit too far? Did Izmepisma have any future? Were there even enough artists in the country left? All this happened while the channel tried to put up appearances, prompting the possibility of Gordan Glavas & Duje Delic performing for the country in WV77. To insiders, they knew that was a move encased in smoke and mirrors.

Ultimately, Arijana and Sandra lobbied to keep Izmedu in WorldVision. There was a provisional contract extension and what was left of the WorldVision delegation were able to get Izmedu's sign-up to the 78th WorldVision Song Contest. Team WorldVision was still alive, but barely.

For Arijana and Sandra, having Izmedu return with a song like 'Immortal' added another emotional layer to an entry that both were already strongly attached to. Outside of the complex politics surrounding RTI, the two women joined forces for the now WorldVision entry in a time where both were hitting professional and personal lows in their lives. For Arijana, this meant confronting a career that was slowly stagnating and seeing her name slowly morph from something close to beloved to being both forgotten and pushed back against. The Izmeduan fame machine ensured that even the most famous artists would go through that gauntlet. Arijana, while trying to test out ideas for new albums, felt lost through the process of trying to progress through her artistic career as someone right in the middle of it. She acutely felt the fact that trying to chase the glory days of Illusion was not going to happen anymore. People had moved on from the fervor, but perhaps most distressingly... Arijana felt as if she'd lost the fundamental spark that made music such an alluring thing for her. There were two prongs to the existential crisis she faced leading up to collaborating with Sandra. There was the fact that she felt as if she could no longer grow, having plateaued since the many collaborations during the time she was primarily making music for the World Hit Festival. Then, there was the voice inside her that told her that the way she fundamentally even performed the violin was getting worse. There was no way out. No way to break free from the cycle she was locked in. In the years leading up to WorldVision 78 in Malta Comino Gozo, that was the mindset she lived within.

Sandra's path to 'Immortal' was both a path to convince herself to do the project with Arijana and to stay with the project during its most tumultuous hours. She'd led a conflicted career as one of Izmedu's most celebrated yet divisive metal frontwomen (and her status as a metal singer is hotly debated still). Having primarily existed in the realms of both metal and a symphonic/classical crossover, she and her group (Grupa Grobnica) always existed at the periphery of what made rock, rock. This was exacerbated by Grupa Grobnica and especially Sandra's enduring and overwhelming popularity in Izmedu. For fans of more underground groups and singers, they were not happy with someone like Sandra being the sort of de facto ambassador of the Izmeduan interpretation of the genre. At the height of her popuarlity, it was not uncommon for her to be spoken of as the best and the worst singer of the genre around Izmeduan rock fans. Her competitive appearances with Grupa Grobnica in Izmepisma also didn't help matters. While Grupa Grobnica did modestly well during most of their appearances, it was fairly clear that the international juries didn't find their material compelling enough to warrant the podium places. Thus, fans feared that Sandra would drag down Arijana's return to the contests, fears that clashed with those frustrated with Arijana having appeared so many times already.

For the first time since WorldVision 38, Arijana Kovac would be bringing a song in which the concept came from her first instead of artists bringing the demo to her. 'Immortal' came from recording sessions where she tried to map out the sonic landscapes of a potential new album. She largely did these sessions to try and stamp out the lingering feelings of stagnancy and inadequacy that were bubbling up. These sessions were mildly fruitful, but ultimately led to more scrapped recordings and not many possibilities. The instrumental to 'Immortal' was one of the few that translated well in the studio. Good enough that Arijana flagged the initial demo for further development and production. There was something about the melody that beckoned for a 'something' that Arijana couldn't quite articulate then. However, she kept the demo sitting for a good while, returning to the business as usual mindset she tried to adopt to keep her away from lingering in her own thoughts for too long.

It was months after the demo that Arijana ran into Sandra. Grupa Grobnica and The Wicked were doing a joint domestic tour around Izmedu for the first time in their histories. Having grown up with both bands (especially Grupa Grobnica), Arijana secured some VIP tickets and attended a show that the two bands were co-headlining in Gralicna. Grupa Grobnica were the first to perform while The Wicked were preparing their set. For Arijana, it was an experience of a lifetime seeing one of her chief inspirations and idols take the stage. She got to yell, scream, and experience their music as a fan, not as someone trying to represent her image and brand. It wasn't until the VIP that people started catching on Arijana Kovac was at a Grupa Grobnica concert. She met Sandra during the VIP and both hit it off fairly quickly, both of them changing contact information and Sandra being excited to meet one of the people that not only sang with Izmeduan rock royalty, but who also helped bring the WorldVision trophy home.

It was the days after that Arijana returned home to Vodiznad and listened to the 'Immortal' instrumental demo. During that listening session, it finally clicked for Arijana what the song was missing. Having been absorbed with Sandra's voice and listening to her band's music, she started to imagine having her as a possible vocalist to a song that was originally born as just an instrumental. She started to see the possibilities at hand with having Sandra as a collaborator. It was a faint, faint hope, but she made a call to Sandra about listening to a demo and pushing some ideas around. Arijana didn't want to immediately get down to the collaboration request so soon after having just met Sandra and finally establishing contact. To Arijana's relief, Sandra was more than willing to listen to the demo that she recorded. Over a period of a few days, Sandra did listen to the demo, and sent a fateful text to Arijana...

As it turns out, Sandra loved the demo. She loved it enough that she herself suggested to do a collaboration and presented some provisional yet brief lyrics to Arijana. From there, both finally agreed to embark on that joint project. It was a dream come true for Arijana, hearing Sandra's brief demo and lyrics sung to the violin she played. She could barely believe her ears, nor her eyes when both her and Sandra were finally sharing the same studio. The whole song came together quickly, though schedules did need to be adjusted to account for Grupa Grobnica's tour with The Wicked. The full project didn't go full steam until after the tour was done. And even then, the whole process for both women felt like a whirlwind. From demo to final master, there was a viable song. A viable song with meaning.

For both Arijana and Sandra, this represented what they were trying to get at both for their careers and personally. They had frank talks about what the Izmeduan music industry did to them, both to their bodies and their psyche. Arijana recounted the many, many times she herself was this close to being at the chopping block from her label. Sandra wasn't hesitant in describing her complicated place in Izmeduan rock, of being the recipient of both admiration and hate. There was one thing throughout all of this that they held with common ground. They both had no idea how to handle the stagnancy and the realization that the 'end' of their careers and possibly even lives turned from a faraway abstract to a reality that was going to much sooner than either of them thought. If this was going to be one of the last things they sing due to the Izmeduan music industry rearing its ugly head or some other reason, they wanted to make something that would be unforgettable. Something that would test the sands of time and something that would live on in someone's memory.

That very theme grew in significance as they lived through the possibility of performing for the World Hit Festival only to find themselves being affected by what was going on in RTI. Now, in Malta Comino Gozo, with the entry this close to a possibility, did it finally hit them that this was happening... The rehearsals were uncertain for them both, given that RTI was so unstable to the point where a withdrawal from the contest even during the jury rehearsal was a real possibility. That's why, the entire time the both of them were here, they both focused on the music, and they focused on that stage. Neither of them knew what even was happening administratively. Arijana counted herself lucky she could pay for some of the costs to get the delegation over to Valletta.

There was too much riding on this. Both Arijana and Sandra glanced at each other one last time... Once the Kalosian entry finished, both shared the tightest hugs possible, and walked to the stage as soon as the Izmeduan entry was announced...

Stage lights billowed down to the center of the Valletta Arena, flashing a brilliant white before quickly simmering down to an all-consuming darkness. Arijana and Sandra were situated at opposite sides of the stage, the both of them having taken up a singular position on one of the triangular formations.

The camera faded from its long-shot view to a view much closer to the stage as soon as the entry proper began. A soft yet ethereal purple hue began to coat the stage as brief sounds emanated from the speakers, heralding the start of the Izmeduan entry. After 2 seconds of a soft atmospheric sound, a spotlight shone on Arijana. Her eyes were closed, her body seated on the floor, and her expression calm as she played the opening notes of the song. Fans of the former WorldVision winner cheered when her third WorldVision appearance finally became a reality. She played the main melody of the song on her violin, doing so in a lower register at first to give the audience a taste of what's to come. The camera singularly focused on her playing, letting the darkness linger in the background and making it look as if she were performing in a singular void. She then repeated the melody in a higher key, an expression of pained sorrow looking over her face, and her eyes finally opening. She looked up into the light at the final stretches of the melodic line. The lights around her disappeared to a brief silence, giving off the impression that Arijana had dissolved into the ether. The Valletta Arena was dark for just a brief second...

A voice could be heard from the music like a siren. It was Sandra's voice melding in with Arijana's violin, both of them together singing the same melody of the song. Additional production could be added, one that attempted to build an epic feel to the song. Appropriately, a much wider view of the stage was utilized. Care was taken to imbue the views with a cinematic feel, with every shot and pan making sure to hide the audience from view as Arijana was playing along with Sandra's voice. The singer was still hidden from view as Arijana was moving about the stage, looking up at the white and purple lights in hope and wonder. She was searching for the voice that was calling out to her, playing the melody in hopes to finally see who was singing that melodic line alongside her violin playing. Soon, Sandra's voice would begin to dominate the proceedings. Her trademark belts resonated throughout the Valletta Arena, as if she too were calling out towards Arijana. Throughout this, the arena was imbued in a brilliant light show, flickering traces of white and purple light that were augmented by abstract patterns behind them that represented and interplay of light and shadow. The more both of them played, the brighter the arena became, as if it were building up to something...

And indeed, it did. A brilliant flash of light and an augmented reality effect of particles manifested as the song's production came into full force. If the initial melody that began the song was the verse, what Arijana and Sandra were performing now was the 'chorus' of the song. Both of them gave it their all, Arijana dancing around the stage and dominating the arena presence in a way she never did for her previous entries. She made motions towards the source of Sandra's voice, performing much more dramatic movements even as her fellow performer was now dominating the soundscape. For Sandra, she poured every inch of emotion she could in her vocals. Even if she was singing no words to this melody, she still had them in the back of her mind as she could feel the song move toward its first set of lyrics. The lights around both of them danced, the camera teasing just the barest moment of Sandra's presence even if it primarily focused on Arijana. The yearning, the exhausted hope, and yet the embattled optimism were etched both in Sandra's voice and Arijana's expressions. Each movement from both of them brought ethereal wisps to the screens, both on the triangular wedges and on the broadcast being showed to the viewers at home. As soon as this instrumental chorus ended, darkness once more as Arijana faded from view... This time, the focus was on Sandra. After a lengthy instrumental intro, it was time for the first verse of the song...

There's a cold darkness that lingers
Deep within like a monster
I'm drowned within that cruel abyss
But I want to be set free

Befitting the theme of the song, the Valletta Arena was consumed in total darkness as Sandra sang. The camera focused on her as she was now situated at the center of the stage. Only the barest hints of light were present, with Sandra again looking as if she was singing in an all-consuming void, due to the disappear at any moment. Her almost husky yet warm tone reverberated through the arena, her eyes open and locking the camera to its place. It was a contrast to the almost cold-looking eyes that she had, one that figuratively pierced the camera. As she sang, there were brief cuts to Arijana, who was 'performing' alongside the lyrics. She was now situated at the catwalks, slowly going on her knees and clutching her chest as it looked as if she was being consumed by the darkness. She took great care to make sure that she was still able to play her violin in a moment's notice. As this short first verse progressed, arena lights began to slowly dawn upon Sandra as she sang each line, especially at the final line.

As soon as Sandra sang that final line, there was a renewed yet desperate energy in Arijana's face. She played the melody once more as Sandra vocalized with her. Purple and white lights once more began to parade around the stage, again trying to enmesh with it that epic and cinematic feel. The camera views were slow and deliberate in their movements, once more trying to hide the arena audience from view. There was a sense of building up to something, especially when there was a brief 'pulse' sound in the background in the middle of this instrumental interlude. As both Arijana and Sandra played together, they both now attained a mutual visibility. For the first time in the performance and its stage narrative, Arijana and Sandra were now on the path of finding each other after the darkness has been lifted. There were still spots where it was still visible, ie. Not every triangular formation was lit up while a few (especially those close to the center) were changing colors to the melody, sticking to variations of purple. At the interlude's end, Arijana was approaching the source of the voice that was calling out to her earlier, with her solemnly walking over to the singer. The camera then cut to Sandra, who would sing the second half of the first verse...

In the end our lives are fleeting
We all fade to memory
Yet still I see and feel a light
Can I break free?

The production, vocals, and emotions were intensifying. There was a breaking point this song was approaching. The lights and the screen effects began to 'dissolve' alongside appropriate moments in the lyrics, especially as Sandra sang 'fade to memory.' There was a continued interplay of light and shadow, but the light was beginning to dominate the proceedings. Arijana was approaching Sandra as the latter passionately sang this part of the verse. She reached out to the audience, singing with a dogged determination. As soon as the screen effects faded, the arena effects in the Valletta Arena all began to coalesce to make it appear as if Arijana and Sandra were situated in a glass dome. White borders began to appear on each screen, both in the arena and even in bits of augmented reality for the viewers at home. These borders began to manifest as Sandra drove the verse to its conclusion and as Arijana approached closer to the singer. The verse would end with both of them glancing at each other, every single light on the stage fading except for the spotlights on them. The silence after Sandra's verse was brief... The camera quickly cut to a close view of Arijana, finally having found the voice that was beckoning for her. Now, she gave back. She played a quick line of violin, expertly and quickly playing the line that served as the transition from verse to chorus. As soon as that violin line ended...

I am free
I sing a song that cannot die
I pierce the shadowed veil
I'm always with you, never forget
Not even death will stop us
Our souls are immortal

A brilliant flash of white overcame the stage as the stage effects, the white borders on anything that resembled a screen, 'shattered' like glass. Arijana and Sandra had 'broken free' from the fate that was holding them down. They both performed with each other, the whole performance now being an interplay of the similarities and differences between them. Sandra passionately belted out the chorus, gripping her chest and paralleling some of Arijana's dramatic movements. She gazed in awe at the violinist at some parts, but kept her attention at the camera and at the audience. Sandra's voice soared throughout the production, the dubstep-esque production directly harking back to WV38's Illusion and filling the Valletta Arena. Throughout the chorus, Arijana would be performing alongside Sandra's strong vocals. The very melodic line that she was playing was one that was picked up from the long instrumental introduction. She made wide, sweeping movements from the stage, with light particles and streaks dancing around the both Arijana and Sandra. The shattering glass effect made way for one dominated by abstract effects dominated in white and purple. These effects moved with them, and so did the camera as it focused on them both. Sandra finished out the chorus with as much emotion as she could pour into, nearly sending her onto her knees as she felt every single feeling risk overtaking the performance. As soon as her part of the chorus ended, the effects and lights pulsed as Sandra took a step back, letting Arijana have center stage for this instrumental interlude.

The camera shifted views from Sandra to Arijana. Each step she made caused the screens to pulse, and each step was timed to the beats that were apparent in the production. A look of determination in her face was apparent as she looked ready to play the string of violin notes that were imminent. At the fourth beat, she was now properly at the center of the stage as she began to play the fast-appearing violin line. She arched her sides as she played the notes, moving her body alongside the way the instrumental itself soared and arced. An ethereal circle effect flashed on the augmented reality bits as she played that particular set of notes, as if she were summoning an energy around her so strong that even reality began to distort. As she transitioned to another set of notes, the circle flashed and dissolved as she led the song closer to its conclusion. The beats only intensified as she again arched her body sideways, the stage effects beginning to darken except the ones already present on the screen. As Arijana closed out this part of the instrumental interlude, the effects on the screen began to resemble a nebula floating in space.

Appropriately, the production was pared back and Arijana played the melody that defined the song. During this, there was a deliberate slow down of the song's pacing. It befit the effects, with Arijana appearing to 'float' within the space that the screens were created. She moved and played the violin with her body slightly arched, simulating a zero gravity movement as she slowly went through the song's main melody. Once Sandra joined on the proceedings, Arijana would align herself upwards and return back to a upright posture. For this moment, the sound mix ensured that neither dominated the other. Arijana's violin and Sandra's voice almost seemed to congeal to sounding like one instrument, the violin and the voice both beckoning for and needing each other. At that, the interlude came to a quick end. For the song's closing, both Arijana and Sandra reprised the song's chorus.

I am free
I sing a song that cannot die
I pierce the shadowed veil
I'm always with you, never forget
Not even death will stop us
Our souls are immortal

For the final reprise of this chorus, both Arijana and Sandra gave it their all. Sandra's voice soared to an even greater extent from the previous chorus, as she ad-libbed at a few parts and played with the vocal mixing to ensure the most amount of power from her voice. Vocal effects were gently added to sustain the ethereal atmosphere, as if Sandra's voice was singing within the great reaches and the skies above. Even so, her voice and Arijana's violin would pierce the veil that was mortality. For Arijana, she ad-libbed and took much greater risks from earlier. She dodged the song's melody and instead complemented Sandra's vocals with her free-styling. Both of them moved in time with one another, playing to each other and recognizing themselves as each other's safe harbor from the darkness. The interplay of light and shadow had now been truly transformed into the interplay of singer and violinist. The effects once more coalesced into a brilliant collage of white and purple lights. As the chorus progressed, the two performers got ever so closer to each other. The chorus finally met its end. One last note from Arijana was what it took to create its conclusion. From there, the lights faded from both performers, and a strong crowd cheer could be heard.

Arijana and Sandra shared a long tight hug on the stage as the song ended. They had no words to say to each other. In many ways, what was in the song itself was the very thing they'd been saying to each other since the 'Immortal' project began. This was only one song, yet that song had been through ups and downs that almost made it impossible for this kind of performance to see the light of day. Yet, fate and luck had other plans for the both of them. They'd worry about the implications for RTI later, or even the results.

The fact that they were standing on this stage in Malta Comino Gozo was itself unbelievable. Arijana was too overwhelmed to even say anything. This led to Sandra saying a tired but heartfelt thank you to the crowd.

Even if things go badly tonight... I have this memory. And that's more than enough for me, was Arijana's thought heading into the green room.

Short of Money - Touch Me
Tune: Skinny Living - My Blood

Image
Short of Money

(As the music begins, the band stand centre stage and groove to the music, the camera pans round as lights flash to the beat. As the music begins, the camera focuses on full and half body shots of the lead singer, who sings the lyrics emotively and expressively.)

You know you'll never see me with a clenched fist,
I don't really figh oh, I just let it slide.
I'm a nice guy, an average pacifist, yeah,
Not much can really hurt my pride.

But you are something else and you should really know,
Oh! Go!

(During the chorus the camera angles get slightly more intense, being from tilted angles and stranger positions, during the lyrics "fire" short fire pyro bursts up the sides of the stage. And after the first and third life, taller spark pyrotechnics burst up as well.)

Cause you're playing with fire,
You're playing with your own life,
Cause of you touch me,
It's you're-ah-own strife,
Everyone has a soft spot,
That'll make them grab the knife,
So careful, careful,
Or you'll loose your own life,
Life, you're life.
Goodbah-ah-ah-ye

(During the second verse the staging is much like the first, except everything a slightly redder tint, camera angles are just slightly "off" and the lead singer, still emotive, looks slightly more distressed.)

You rea-lly get right under my skin, yeah,
You've just got that type of charm.
You obviously, think you're really smart, but you're mistaken,
This ain't no little game.

But you are something else and that's all you need to know,
Oh! Go!

(The second chorus follows the same staging as the first, except the redder theming introduced in the verse)

Cause you're playing with fire,
You're playing with your own life,
Cause of you touch me,
It's you're-ah-own strife,
Everyone has a soft spot,
That'll make them grab the knife,
So careful, careful,
Or you'll loose your own life,
Life, you're life.
Goodbah-ah-ah-ye
Your life,
Life, your life.
Goodbah-ah-ah-ye

(For the bridge, the lights now fully turn to a deep red. The camera focuses on the leader sunger, and then goes to two of the other hand members one after another for the backing vocal reply. For the two totally solo lines the camera starts at a body shot of the singer and zooms out into the audience at a fair bit not jarring speed, going from the left the first line and right the second. All of this is the same on the repeat, minus the members and the pan directions are flipped)

Touch me (Touch me, Touch me)
Trick me (Trick me, Trick me)
You think you'll get away with this,
But trust me, my shot doesn't miss.
Touch me (Touch me, Touch me)
Trick me (Trick me, Trick me)
You think you'll get away with this,
But trust me, my shot doesn't miss.

(For the final chorus the staging is once again the same, but at it's most intense. The deep red is carried on, the angles are jarring and the lead looks like he's got death in his eyes. The pyrotechnics are much the same, but right on the last note of the song, smoke pyro shoots up as if a gun has went of, not just from around the main stage area, but the entire stage, including the side walkways.)

Cause you're playing with fire,
You're playing with your own life,
Cause of you touch me,
It's you're-ah-own strife,
Everyone has a soft spot,
That'll make them grab the knife,
So careful, careful,
Or you'll loose your own life,
Life, your life.
Goodbah-ah-ah-ye,
Your life,
Life, your life.
Goodbah-ah-ah-ye.

(As the song finishes and the camera settles on the lead singer, he gives one last menacing grin, and then laughs and thanks the audience and those watching as his band mates surround him, they shout "Goodnight Valletta" together before walking off.)

After the last song has been performed the camera jumps to a view of the excited crowd in the Valletta Arena before zooming into the stands to the VIP seats, where we find Ian, Michela and King William, leaning back in their seats, crumbs all down them stuffing their faces with cakes that they have gathered from Nahlcomo's performance. Ian and Michela look at the cameras shocked with a mouthful of cake. The audience laughs hard.

Muffled Voices
Michela: Hmmmm, sorry let me start again Lejla tajba, and welcome back to Valletta Arena. Ian your line have you finished eating?

Ian: Delicious, yes just! What an incredible show and thank you to all our wonderful performers we wish you all best of luck!

King William: That was indeed a fantastic show ( he wipes crumbs of his royal attire) and stands up to an eruption of huge cheers, he waves to the crowd as the camera zooms into him) Thank you to everyone for making tonight such a fantastic spectacular evening

Ian: Well, the last song of the night has been performed, and now it is time for you, our viewers at home and all around the world to vote for your favourite song from tonight.

Michela: Indeed! You can only vote up to 15 times from your landline or smart phone. You can vote by phone using the telephone number on your screen, online at http://www.worldvision.tv, or through our Worldvision app, but please please remember you can't vote for your own country.

Ian: Yes, no voting for your own country because your wont count

Michela: And now lets get the voting open who's ready to vote? (The crowd cheer as a wide-pan camera combs through the arena.)

Both: Count with us in Maltese from 10 –għaxra, disgħa,tmienja, sebgħa,sitta, ħamsa, erbgħa, tliet,a tnejn, wieħed

Both: Start voting now!

Fireworks shoot up from the stage to the cheers of the crowd.

The camera cuts off to a short, thirty-second recap of each performing song.

After the recap we cut back to Michela now back on the stage, in a long elegant cream coloured dress.

Michela: And for those of you who aren't taking a break, we have a great treat for you in store tonight. In the theme of the contest simplicity and elegance, we have a phenomenal performance now from the national choir, national acrobatics team and Ell the lead singer of famous Maltese band Gengima. Take... it... away...!! Huge cheers from the crowd and the green room can be heard

Interval Act
The arena darkens into a dark mood with dark red lighting. The lights centre on the stage as drummers dress in dark red robes start to march onto the stage, each marching in unison, every movement copied perfectly. They slowly march in flooding the edge of the stage. All together 40 drummers circle round the back of the stage. The triangles on the top of stage glisten a soft yellow and move and rotate. The stage beats like a heart (0:27) All the drummers turn their backs to the audience and continue drumming)

The camera switches to a floor camera that shows the 1 central platform with the main singer, Ell on, descend down from the ceiling, she is dressed in a dark red dress. The camera transitions to a frontal shot of her singing. She sings towards the camera. 0:41 A hologram appears next to her (shes throwing her arms widely) for a few seconds before fizzling out. (1:10) the camera switches to a shot of the suspend platform with Ell, singing towards the camera. The Camera transitions to show the front of the drummers, in the back you can see the whole audience waving flags (1:34) The drummers turn back around to face the audience and 4 large square sized suspended platforms begin to descend from the ceiling, so Ell's platform is now the central platform.

A loud eerie chant from the choir can now be heard. 5 Members of the MCG choir dressed in white cloaks are on each platform calling out towards the stage. The platforms slowly descend down towards the excited fans, flashing in time with the beat with bright yellow lights. As they reach halfway they extend outwards. Acrobats descend from the ceiling into various areas of the hall suspended in mid air,the crowd goes wild, they are all dressed in brown cloth, the men shirtless the women in cloth bras. They descend down motionless with their hands outstretched. (2:30)They begin to jerk their bodies, twisting there arms, swinging their legs, rocking their heads. Almost body popping they all begin rotating slowly whilst still performing. (2:17) The choir raises their arms towards the performers. The back off the stage opens up and more drummers join in unison. Each singer on the platforms turns to one another and there red lazer pointers cross paths in the centre of the auditorium creating a eerie twisted shape The shape morphs and reshapes. The platforms resonate with the beat as the song kicks back in. Slowly the triangles on the stage begin to pulse with the beat and the catwalks glow. (3:10)Fire begins to rain down from the top of stage and the edges of the platforms catch fire in midair.

The choir singers look scared and begin to move to the middle of the platforms they look shocked and horrified as their dance shows. They try to shelter they cover their faces, they curl up and then try to blow the fires out. With each cartoonish blow, the fires on the stage grows. Out of nowhere 40 choir singers appear from the left and right of the stage and circle the edge of stage singing towards the stage their hands are tooked into their sleeves, not visible, they drop their hoods and turn to the crowd as the platform surrounding the stage their on raises them about 8 ft into the air above the fascinated spectators (3:25) The fires spread to the edges of the stage and each choir singers lean towards the stage beckoning the fire. The fire grows until the flames are high and shoot out spectacularly. They all then stop as the song reaches the end and look at ground hanging their heads. The camera pans out backwards showing the whole stage and suspended platforms. The crowd goes insane with massive cheers, with flags of all nations being swung, the crowd is overwhelmed with the show!

Good evening, Valletta! Buenas noches, La Valeta! This is Coventry calling with me, Nick J. Holland, and I've returned to give you people back home the results of the Elejamian people. It's been a good competition, plenty of fun tunes and plenty of fun times. Let's not waste any more time, let's get right onto the ones to sevens. Unos a sietes.

Image

Nicholas Holland, better known by his stage name Nick J. Holland*, television personality and singer best known for co-hosting the late night LGBT-themed variety show Saturgay Night from 1997 to its cancellation in 2001 and from its resurrection in 2017 onwards.

* Much like the real life actor Michael J. Fox, the "J." in his name doesn't stand for anything, though in this case not only does he not have a middle name altogether but also he chose it because he thought the name "Nick J. Holland" had a nice ring to it.

OK, we've given you people your ones, twos, threes, fours, fives, sixes and sevens. Let's move right onto the eights. Ocho puntos! And guess who's getting them. If you said "Malta Comino Gozo", you're right on the money. MCG eight points!

Your ten points? Who'll be getting them? That's right, Mister X gets those ten points.

And, finally, we've reached the twelve pointer. The big, big winner among the Elejamian people. Are you ready? I know you're ready for it. And I hope these people are ready for it. Nekoni gets the big doce puntos. Thank you very much, Malta Comino Gozo, this is Nick J. Holland signing off!

Modernized Juche Korea. In 1900s, Joseon Dynasty still existed. Kim Il-Sung led one of many revolutionary groups, captured 2/3 of Korea. Alternate Korean War, North won in 1950. Kim Jong Il dies in 2009, Un in 2016. A cousin, Kim Seyong-Taek obtains power and makes Korea a regional influencer.
