Crimson Federation Charter Delegation

Postby Western Sokolias » Tue Oct 15, 2019 6:24 pm

“I am proud to call into order the first ever delegation for the Crimson Federation,” Chancellor Andrew Carter began. “Western Sokolias is grateful to host this conference and we hope to come to an agreement regarding the regional charter that will be mutually beneficial to all parties. So without further ado, let the discussion begin.” The Chancellor stepped down from the podium and took his seat once again with his cabinet ministers.

OOC: Members of Crimson Federation, please take a look at the Factbook linked above. There is much that we have yet to determine like a regional flag for example as well as other areas in the charter that were left blank for discussion. Also, if you have any other signatures you’d like to add, feel free to state the names and offices the officials hold.

A black-haired man, with a prominent widow's peak, sideburns and a limp, took the podium on behalf of the United Socialist States of Vandarzia. Diplomats and those with knowledge of Vandarzia recognized him as Viktor Sepp, the Chairman of the Central Governing Committee and Hero of the Revolution.

"I would thank the Chancellor, the people of Western Sokolias, and the nations of the Crimson Federation for initiating the discussion on the proposed Charter. Before addressing the Charter, though, I must represent the interests of my people and clarify our Communist participation in a capitalist-dominated organization.

"Since the 80s Revolution, Vandarzia has isolated itself from the world stage. The stagnation of the USSR and the fall of Maoism in the People's Republic of China left us with few allies internationally. We focused internally and developed our productive forces. We developed Marxism-Leninism into a unique direction for Vandarzia: with the principles of Socialist Organizational Cybernetics and the Viable Socialist Model.

"We, however, cannot survive alone in the world. We cannot close ourselves off and hope for an international revolution. Instead, we have brought ourselves back into the world with relations with various Communist Parties of the Crimson Federation. We have decided to not only advocate for these parties but show ourselves and our system as a model for the rest of the world: to inspire the proletariat of countries.

"And to do this: we must cooperate. We must act diplomatically and with fraternity and friendliness to our friends throughout the world. We must 'work together and interact for the welfare and prosperity for all.' We must 'transcend their diversity to form a common destiny.' And thus Vandarzia has sent me and my comrades as delegates to this conference.

"We helped draft the Charter, and ensured it would not compromise the sovereignty of any nation: ensured it would not interfere with the fundamental workings of any nation with regards to self-determination and democracy; with regards to economic system or democratic form.

"However, reviewing the Charter, we recognize our errors. There no provision for amendment of the Charter. Nor is there a provision for the duration of Charter, or when it needs renewal. These are fundamental to the ensured cooperation internationally of the nations of the Crimson Federation. Thank you."

Sepp, amidst applause from his Vandarzian countrymen and gesturing to a member of his delegation, is tossed a walking cane and limps slowly back to his seat with determination.

Secretary Felix Monaghan of Western Sokolias’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs rose to speak next. “Chairman Sepp has raised interesting points which I would like to take the time to address. Firstly, I would hasten to refer to the Crimson Federation as a capitalist alliance. While we do not prohibit capitalist member states from joining, market economies alone are not a qualifier for capitalism. Western Sokolias, for example, is rooted in left libertarian principles, worker self-management, and we do allow market exchange for nonessential services and goods. We also act in conjunction with the National Worker’s and Consumer councils. Now, we do acknowledge that there may be other member states which openly engage in the capitalist mode of production. Nevertheless, it is Western Sokolias’ hope that this Federation may be a shining example of what it means to be an ally of the proletariat beyond borders. Secondly, the executive cabinet of Western Sokolias is of the opinion that there is room for improvement with regards to the proposed charter such as an official flag and other identifiers of the Crimson. Not to mention, as Chairman Sepp pointed out rightly, we must have room for amendments and whether the charter must be renewed.”

Heather Stewart Rises to the podium to speak "beside the problem that has already been pointed out by the Chairman of the Central Governing Committee and Hero of the Revolution, along with the obvious problem of the blank spaces left up for discussion, we see no problem with the charter. it should be relatively easy to get it through the parliament of Kuplus as the only parties opposing the charter are the traditionalist and the monarchist."

OOC: Add the signature of Heather Stewart Prime minister, Franklin smith minister of Crimson Affairs, Natalie Murphy minister of Foreign affairs, Ray Wells Minister of Foreign trade, Blair Reid Minister of Regional Cooperation, and Chris Davies Minister of International Development Cooperation.
