From there, party with an open end.Launceston is home to a small station of the SDF-Navy, which includes a small airbase, as well as a base of the SDF-Army with two Squadrons. It is the only major city along the Icy Shore and one of the centers of industry in the area, with one of the most well-known companies internationally being Bicíní Industries, a clothes manufacturer. Livestock, especially cows and sheep, are in abundance up there and dominate the cuisine (including a spirit made of fermented sheep milk), as does fish.
Launceston also has a small university, the creatively named University of Launceston, which is famous for its faculties of Marine Biology and Arctic Studies, as well as its swimmer team. The Binn Boarding School Complex is nearby as well, mostly famous for being the northern competitor of the Iris Boarding School Complex near Fortham. In line with that rivalry, the Binn also has a small Sensha-Do Team.
The Selkie-Rock Band Mórbhileog comes from Launceston.
Inns
- The Caora Inn is one of the most popular inns in the City. Good food, good prices, good beds and professional staff make it enjoyable to stay there. It's not too far away from the Sípéir Square either.
- The Muirmhíle Inn is a popular inn among travelers, with good beds and a nice view. The professional staff is very much in their element.
- The Sraoilleáil Inn is a huge house at the edge of the City. It's a large enterprise and quite new, so it doesn't really have a reputation yet. It's cheap, though.
- The Seanmhairnéalach Inn is a house of a rather good reputation, with especially good seafood. The prices are good, too. The Seanmhairnéalach Inn offers 'Additional Services'.
- The Mórrón Inn is a small inn by the harbour, mostly frequented by sailors. Good food at decent prices, but also nice staff. The Mórrón Inn offers 'Additional Services'.
- The Báirse Inn: The Báirse Inn is not an inn in the strict sense of the word, but an accommodations vessel of the SDF. The beds are bad, the food decent, the price low. Good to stay in if you are on a budget.
Traveling Information
Launceston is a major city in the Free Lands and can easily be reached by sea, by air and on land.
Launceston Regional Airport allows for quick access from the air, only a stone's throw from the city. A total of six airlines, five of which are Selkie, are allowed to land there.
If you wish to come by land, Launceston is connected to the Railway System of the Free Lands, with a total of three stations in the city and the nearer surroundings. Launceston is also one stop of the Old Traveling Roads, which actually have their northernmost point there.
Easiest, however, is by sea. Launceston has a large port, which is especially popular for arctic cruise liners, but which has enough space to house yachts and other cruise ships.
We highly recommend coming by sea.
Hello and welcome to A Cold Harvest in a Cold Land!
In line with my personal traditions, I am going to host a Harvest Festival again this year, this time in Launceston, along the Icy Shore. Up there, it's cold, even in summer, for the Northern Polar Circle is not that far away.
Contrary to my usual approach, a RP-sample will not be mandatory this time around.
The IC will started on the 23rd of September 2019, which is a Monday.
IC!
No Godmodding or Metagaming. I know, this is a festival, but such things will not be tolerated. No exceptions.
Please keep it civil, at least on the OOC.
About the application:
Please keep it civil, at least on the OOC.
- Violence only if both players and myself agree to it here on the OOC.
Please keep it FSK-13 or the appropriate equivalent in your country.
IC on the IC, OOC on the OOC. And please use this OOC, it's not here because it looks cool.
Please try to avoid one-liners. I know, that it sometimes will be impossible to do, but please at least try to.
- No Heads of State or High State Officials, including military persons – there can be an exception made to this, but contact me about that here. Actually preferred are celebrities, musicians and especially normal persons.
No bodyguards. If your people need one, this might not be the right occasion for them to visit.
Humanoid and MT only. No magic either. No exceptions.
As for weapons, as I know that this will come up, no firearms. Knifes are good, though, swords, lances, bows, etc. are good. Just no firearms. And no walking armouries either. No exceptions.
The maximum number of characters is only limited by yourself, but please nothing too excessive.
NPCs will be RPed by me. No exceptions.
About the application:
- I'm going to stretch the part about the "valid passport photo" far beyond the ones accepted by the offices, you just need to supply a picture of your character (be it a photo, a picture, anime-artwork works, too). However, please keep it within 500x500 pixels maximum or hotlink to it in a sensible way.
Please answer the question about having read and understood the rules with "I want warm tea." No exceptions. This phrase may change in the future, though.
