Admiral Charles Vane

The admiral nodded again, "Offcourse Commander, those opinions normally lies with top command or politicians.. But one can only hope! Port Ember has entered a golden age of warship design and construction, and our recent battle of Port Arthur is one fine example of our new found domimance of the ocean. And just imagine if your navy is also fitted with these marvels - our entire region will be the envy of the world." The Admiral laughed at the Commander's joke, "Might be the truth Commander. But its not the worst place in the world to end up stranded! I must admit that judging from crowd attendance - today is a roaring success."

The Commander would smile as the Admiral spoke. "Your nation is a master at sea, my nation is more on the defence side... So the Navy's defensive ships get the boost, we have so many military categories it isn't even funny! 4,410,000,000,000 goes into defence every year. Some poll said we were the safest in Northern Ocean." He'd nod along with the Admiral's talk about Port Arthur, and smile at the mention of the Region. "Yes, we would!" as the Admiral finished, the commander noted "This truly is a success, I haven't seen one upset person since my arrival"

Commander John Crusuo

A unnamed uniformed member of the Port Emberian Security Forces Navy approached the SMS Jadwiga whilst the two senior officers were in conversation when he noticed the crowds growing near the vessel. Without desturbing the two officers-in-conversation, he addressed the crowds, informing them that they were allowed to observe the vessel from up close but no tours will be allowed on board. The crowds were slightly dissapointed but still content. The crowds knew that the navy's present today were the real deal and security came first. They continued to appluad their visitors one last time to ensure that they felt welcome.

Commander Crusuo continued to smile and beam with pride at the good behaviour and show of respect from his fellow countrymen.

Lilly Thorne

Lilly was pulled up by the unknown foreign sailor, and she was certain that in the process she failed to keep her underwear under her skirt hidden from view. The fall had opened a scratch on her knee, and blood was coming from it in small quantities. But her knee was not nearly as red as her blushing cheeks, totally and utterly overcome with embarressment. She continued to speak in her normal perky cute tone, with an added slight stutter due to her embarressment, "Oh my!" she let out, "I am a total idiot! I never look where I walk and have caused this idiotic mess! I am truly sorry mister. I beg your forgiveness!"

Karl Stortebeker blinked in confusion.
"Uh...okay? No need to apologize, it's my fault...and your knee is bleeding, hang on..."
He opened a pouch on his belt, and handed her a small adhesive bandage.
"You alright, miss? Knee aside, I mean."

The sailors all reacted differently. Some returned the greeting, others ignored it, and still others actively tried to distance themselves from it.
Fredrick von Mucke fell into the first crowd, although it was a little half-hearted-his mind was already on other things-namely, the dreary prospect of lunch at the University.
He didn't know how schooling worked in Port Ember, but in Prussia-Poland, students were one of the most overworked demographics in the entire nation, although those few that survived and made it through found themselves reasonably attractive to prospective employers.

Minister Jan Breytenbach

Jan smiled and nodded as the captain smiled, he agreed fully with his statement afterall and were gratefull that he did not find insult in his poor behaviour. He also firmly believed in the notion that their children should be protected at all costs, especially since the fact that his only child (before the incoming one offcourse) were blown into a thousand pieces in a terror act a few years prior. That was a image and a pain which would forever haunt him. What made it even worse was the fact that he actually did manage to extract revenge on her killers, and it brought him absolutely no reprieve from his agony. Thus he decided that all his time and effort should be spend on the future of his new unborn child.

Jan spoke once more, "Indeed Captain. On that high note, I will unfortunately have to greet you until later. It was an honor to meet you and I do look forward to continue this conversation. In fact, I have arranged a seat for you and your companions at my table for the VIP lunch." As the minister was about to leave, he shook hands with the captain in greetings, and once more kissed the back hand of Ensign Kayla, which was followed with a sofr bow to both of them.

With the food and drink in hand, Jason led his two companions to a nearby picnic type table which was covered with an sun umbrella, branded with the Port Emberian Navy coat of arms. Once they arrived at the table, Jason continued to pull out the black plastic chairs for both Alaina and Layla in an attempt to be 'gentlemanly'. Once the two were seated, Jason removed his cellphone from his pocket and continued to position himself standing between the two girls. He then snapped a picture with all three of them in view alongside their fresh seafood wraps. Jason smiled broadly as he looked at the picture, which honestly looked AWESOME. He knew that this picture would make both his fans go crazy and boost the stall owners business to the next level once it hit the social media networks.

Not far from where the trio was seated, Jason spotted a group of uniformed sailors who broke into a festive folk styled sailor song -

"We'll rant and roar upon the spree
And sing and dance right heartily!
No sorrows, cares, or woes have we
The rambling boys of pleasure.

We'll rant and roar upon the spree
And sing and dance right heartily!
No sorrows, cares, or woes have we
The rambling boys of pleasure.

He's a hell of a man for drinking stout
And when the barrel has run out,
"Bring more porter!" They will shout.
The rambling boys of pleasure.

We'll rant and roar upon the spree
And sing and dance right heartily!
No sorrows, cares, or woes have we
The rambling boys of pleasure!..."

- and it honestly sounded jolly good! Jason turned to his companions and pointed towards the jolly sailors, "Check it out.. The festivities is in full swing!"

The unnamed Port Emberian sailor on duty was approached by the Kafair Drill Squad and enquired whether there was a suitable location to conduct a final rehearsal for their upcoming ceremonial drill. The sailor offered a crisp salute to the Kafair officer and responded, "Indeed Sir! The drill is to take place at the University Parade Ground, and is only scheduled to start this afternoon. Thus it is deserted and available at the moment! Please do follow me.." the sailor again saluted and walked away, leading the squad towards the parade ground.

The officer returns the salute and follows the man to the parade grounds, his men marching in silence. "Thank you for directing us." It was part of the Admiral's daily job to know the status and situation of not only his own navy, but also that of their military allies, of which Iarann Grudaidh was. They were a extremely militaristic nation, who viewed the defence of their nation as the ultimate priority. We went further in, explored the festival a bit, arms not linked anymore, a bit unaware of how well the meeting between the Captain and Breytenbach had turned out. It was a huge assembly, not even comparable in the slightest to what similar festivals I had seen amounted to - granted, this was my first festival like this, the Free Lands didn't have such Navy Days.
Maybe something to change? That remained to be seen as soon as the SEA-Accords were signed.
Further in - and let's see, what we would see!

al-Zefar walked forth, and barked a order. The men got into position, splitting into groups of 6. These groups split into pairs. The 20 remaining men take up positions in the corners of the parade ground, in case someone attempts to interfere with the drill. Zefar spoke, once more. "Commence.....Drill!"

The groups of 6 marched forth, in unison, they than started to move, crossing paths. While doing so, they draw their swords, the sounds ringing out, across the Parade grounds. The pairs than split groups, rotating in a complex order. They than split one more time, forming up into what is known as Position 35. The men are now arrayed, making the eagle and sun in flag of Kafair with their formation, swords pointed into the air. They sheath, and turn.

The pairs than face each other, and draw their swords again. They bow, all in unison, and stepped back, swords leveled. They than make one slash at each other, trading positions as they do so. The sound rang out. The turned, back into position. They sheathed their blades, and get ready. They than unsheathe, and in one moment, slash. They trade posts one more time, and ready their blades. The pairs step 2 steps to their left or right, and than begin their choreographed duel. From all the groups, a overhead slash, met by the other's blade. Than, a jab, met again. A slash, a thrust, a parry, and a duck. Back and forth. The pairs than break off their duels, and in the final 3 minutes, finish.

They sheath one last time, and turn, clicking their heels. The sound is echoed. They march, reentering their groups of 6. They than move, slowly, into their formation of 30. They raise their guns, which had been slinged over their backs, and fire. The blanks ring out, and the guns are set down, hanging on their bodies from their slings. They salute the crowd, and speak in unison. "May the Sun guide your lives, and may Prosperity shower you!" They grow silent, and turn backwards, slowly marching off. They leave the main area, their formation breaking up. Zefar nods once. "14 minutes and 36 seconds. Very good. If this goes as well in the real thing, you all get a bonus when we get back."

International Shipyard Promotion

Image

The time for the International Shipyard Promotion had arrived and the doors to the Alpha Hall has been opened to the public. Five massive displays are present and available for public viewing, namely that of the Silverport Dockyards Limited; Umberlee Shipyards; Marlin Heavy Industries; Finigan Shipyards and the Port Ember Maritime University Think Tank. This display is a soft marketing campaign for all the companies involved and targets both naval personnel, potentiol customers and investors and curious festival attendees.

Over at the University Docks, an unnamed naval annoucer utilised the speaker system to announce this news to the entire festival grounds. It was also announced that the naval tour event was now closed. It was now time for the naval warships to undergo replenishment, and for security and civilian safety reasons, no civilians were allowed onboard. Due to the unique nature of this event, The Republic of Port Ember has offered to provide free supplies to the visiting vessels, including fuel, rations, water and medical supplies. This is to be arranged with the Harbour Master - Douglas Green.

Lilly giggled as Karl introduced himself, as his surname roughly translates into 'shower jug', when utilising direct translation to esperanto, Lilly's second language. She quickly swallowed her giggle in an attempt not to be rude and replied, "I'm Lilly Thorne. It really is a pleasure to meet you Karl, although it would have been better if I did not break myself in doing so.." She giggled again. As a traditional Port Emberian greeting gesture she moved in closer and gave Karl a hug, followed with a soft kiss planted on his cheek. "Say Karl, could you perhaps help me bandaging up this knee? The Admiral smiled, content that his offer was accepted. He knew for a fact that he himself would eventually end up at the Inn tonight, as the party vibe there was unlike anywhere in the world. Also, tonight was the only night in the year where it was acceptable for the Chief Navy himself to get drunk of his arse in public - and he would not miss that oppertunity for the world!

As the public announcer announced that the next event was about to start, the Admiral knew his presence was required there, thus he excused himself from the present conversation and bid Commander farewell.

Kafair wrote:
al-Zefar walked forth, and barked a order.

Kafair Drill Squad

The crowds seated underneath the trees kept a stared watch on the drill squad as they practiced. Although the gaurds were posted on the edges to stop any attempted interference, they had nothing to fear - Port Emberians held a deep respect for all military personnel and proceedings.

They were intruiged by the drilling squad - and especially captivates during the coreographed sword dueling. Once the practice session was concluded, the spectators applauded and cheered loudly, highly entertained and impressed.

10:01 AM - Nick and Evan
"well, looks like we've missed the tour, however lets head over to the promotional yards" comments Nick before heading over towards the said hall, stopping to take photographs of vessels moored up.

"Nick, ever thought of getting your grandfather's model sailing again?" asks Evan

"y'ad be hard pressed there Evan, she probably is more porus now than a collinder and would be a lot of time and effort, It would be nice though" answers Nick. Arriving at the hall Nick opened the door and let Evan in first before heading to Silverport's stand, casually picking up a leaflet on the way past.

Evan stops by one of the displays and leans forward to have a look at it, now he knows as much about naval warfare as the next layman, which quite simply put, isn't much, Even Sir Nick Warszinski knows a little bit more, but even then its not what you would call "his specialist subject", however Evan is impressed and turns to one of the members of staff manning the stand.
"can you tell me a little more about this please, Im guessing its a patrol frigate?" he asks

International Shipyard Promotion
Alpha Hall

Exploring the festival grounds would discover that the docks area were settling down as the tours have now ended and sailors were preparing to commence with the resupply process. The foodcourt was buzzing with activity - both hungry customers lining up in the que's and the cooks preparing meal after meal, delicious aroma's filling the atmosphere. The open air stadium was bustling with activity as the sound equipment wqa busy being set up and prepared for tonights show. The Alpha House wqs busy picking up in activity as the showcasing was about to start.

Jason paused his munching-down for a moment as he listened to the announcer over the intercom. Once the announcement ended he spoke, smiling wide, "Aye! According to the schedule my band performs immediately following you. And as we are the last performance, no one can interfere or interfere if we lengthen the show a bit, calling anyone interested to stage, putting up one hellavu Jam Sandwich!"

Alpha Hall.

It turned out awesome.
Sure, Nora had sent Gwenny away before the great surge came (to her knowledge, she and Fiona wanted to grab something to eat), but once it all began, she was busy - explaining here, entertaining visitors there, mediating some discussions while she was at it.
Yvain and Raidri and their people were aiding her best as they could, explained models and dioramas, showed off a bit what SDY had to offer, both for the military market, but also for the civilian market. One could see, that SDY was trying to get more of an entrance into the civilian market, especially in specialized applications.
Raidri watched with a certain pride, as Ava, the chief engineer behind the system, explained the Hydroponics Modules and their exchangeable system aboard the Wisewolf-class Hydroponics Vessel, which could be used to supply communities with food in a space-saving and environmentally agreeable way. One could see the passion of the blonde in her work and if one asked Raidri, that was wholly justified.
All in all, SDY took this as a success.

When the young man hailed me, most likely believing me to be some engineer, I smiled and walked up to him. He was looking at the model of a ship and asking me, if it was a patrol frigate.
"Close.", I said and smiled, "This is the Corrán-class Offshore Patrol Vessel. A small ship, 1,600 tons Displacement, 80 metres long, IEP-Propulsion and quite capable for its size. They are built as long-range patrol vessels operating from ports with relatively little harbour infrastructure. Sure, they profit from it, but they're mostly built for these developing areas and are not only usable to hunt for criminals." I pointed at two water canons on either side of the vessel. "They are also capable firefighting boats."

Still arms linked with the Commander, we watched as resupply went underway - we needed water, food and a few small things, all of which could be handled easily by the Third Officer. It wasn't a maintenance stay anyway, so all would be well.
Food? We had breakfast.
Music? Later.
For now... let's see, what the competition had in store! We moved towards Alpha Hall, interested as to what Umberlee Shipyards, Marlin Heavy Industries and Finigan Shipyards would show. We knew, that SDY had to offer, we sailed here on one of their vessels, and the Think Tank might be worth a visit later, but for now, Umberlee!
It was a bit sad, that SDY was literally the only foreign shipyard present with a stall, but that would not diminish our joy at being here!

Foodcourt.
Alaina Trasnaigh of the Tribe of Clonmel.

I nodded.
"Sounds like a plan, then!", Layla said with enthusiasm shining from her eyes, "We'll rock their world until the world is only rock!"
I took my drink and raised it to a toast. "Hear, hear!"
Layla grinned and raised her own cup.

University hall, Gina and Robbie
For Gina, the sea pretty much coarsed through her veins although almost now just a few days from being 20 years ago the sea nearly took Gina just as a group of gunmen and a submarine from a not so friendly state who had taken upon itself to claim a 200 mile territorial water, unfortunately the MV Celestia and its cargo of chemicals was unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and the Terra Azuran submarine took aim and let rip with several torpedoes before launching a small special forces boat to ensure that NO ONE lived to tell the tale, someone however did live and that was Gina, she did however pay a price and that price was her right leg was chewed up by the propeller of the small boat and later amputated aboard an Auroran warship.

"Fitt, down here, some displays" points out Robbie,

and so Fitt followed on behind, drawn in by the sight of a container ship on display however one thing that Gina was interested in was seminars so had to ask the question of someone who looked to be in authority (sorry PE, putting you on the spot here), as such Gina madeher way over to a person who looked to be possibly a campus security person, a person who may have seen the film "Alone", then again may not have seen it however that was probably irrelevant,

"Excuse me, are there seminars and talks on offer here?" she asks.

After placing his juice down on the table, he spoke with much excitement, "So I have it under good authority that tonight's performance is going to be LIT! We have a very large crowd turnout this year it seems.. And the navy lads are always a fun crowd! I heard that even some admirals and a few bigwig politicians are here to listen to all of us perform as well.. Hell I have heard a rumour that the Prez himself might show up tonight. Ya lassies excited as I am?"

Jan Breytenbach

The Minister of Defence was walking through the University Park which was temporarily transformed into the foodcourt for the duration of the festival, with a soft almost-smile. The day had turned out to be a professional success so far - he felt, and ran through a self composed list in his mind to assure himself:

- Largest attendance numbers in history!

- Successfull naval outreach - 6 foreign navies in attendance!

- The opening and vessel welcoming ceremonies - a resounding success!

- Naval Vessel Ressupply phase was underway without a hassle according to Harbourmaster Green.

The only shortcoming to the festival - so far - was the fact that only one foreign shipyard was secured to display their solidarity and products at the Alpha Hall today, which was shocking. Its considerably worse compared to the previous years, especially considering the fact that Port Ember itself has since become an international force in the market. Jan decided that the manager responsible for this area was most definitely jobless after the day ended.

Whilst walking deep in thought towards the Alpha House, Jan barely did not register that he saw a familiour looking person.. He halted dead in his tracks once his mind allerted him of this almost blunder. Once he was paying full attention to his surroundings, he found it to be true - there at a foodstall she stood. The love of his life. His reason to still care for the world. And the carrier of his unborn child. He approached Gwen from behind and when he were in range he announced in his signature deep but charming voice "When I saw all these wonderfull warships together, I thought that I would not see a fairer sight today. And now after seeing this radiant and perfect visage present - I know I was a fool." Jan's smile was so brilliant and wide, that if he had no ears - it would have encircled his head!

Umberlee Shipyards Display

Umberlee Shipyards spared no expense for this years display at Alpha House - and it showed. Each of the Shipyards 12 warships had a seperate display, with a scale model ship on display and a 3D screen at its back showing images of the ship, focussing on the features, construction and action shots, with a bullet point list of its statistics also on display, alonside a senior engineer at each display to handle questions. There was also a display which was manned by none other than Marthinus O' Neal - The CEO of Umberlee Shipyards, displaying models of their shipyards and awnsering general questions regarding the company.

The Event Security personnel in question responded to Gina's question with a friendly and warm smile and tone, "Indeed mam - theres a few events worth looking into here today. You can visit the display of Silverport Dockyards Ltd, from the Free Lands, or one of the local displays of Umberlee Shipyards; Hydra Industries; Finigan Shipyards; Marlin Heavy Industries or the University's own Think Tank. But to awnser your specific question mam - two seminars are scheduled for today on the top floor, one presented by Doctor Hana Lee on the topic of the new [i]Trident Naval Combat System, followed by a seminar presented by Professor Drake Willbur on the subject titled Port Ember's Golden Age of Shipbuilding".

University Docks
Lilly Thorne

Lilly giggled as Karl introduced himself, as his surname roughly translates into 'shower jug', when utilising direct translation to esperanto, Lilly's second language. She quickly swallowed her giggle in an attempt not to be rude and replied, "I'm Lilly Thorne. It really is a pleasure to meet you Karl, although it would have been better if I did not break myself in doing so.." She giggled again. As a traditional Port Emberian greeting gesture she moved in closer and gave Karl a hug, followed with a soft kiss planted on his cheek. [i]"Say Karl, could you perhaps help me bandaging up this knee? I'm terrible at medical stuff.."

[/quote]

Karl seemed slightly stunned by the kiss, but shook it off, chalking it up to some local custom.

At Lily's question, he raised an eyebrow.
"You haven't ever used a band-aid before...? Alright, then."
He went to one knee and ripped open the paper packaging on the bandage, before removing the paper strips that covered the adhesive. After lining it up with her wound, he applied it, and stood back up.
"Good to meet you, Miss Thorne...you from around here?"

Had he known about his name's meaning in Esperanto, Karl probably would've shrugged. His surname was that of a pirate, and apparently meant "empty the mug with one gulp" in Low Saxon, so "Shower Jug" wasn't much worse, in his view.
"Furthermore, I submit that Carthage NSG must be destroyed." t. Marcus Porcius Cato

IC name is "Blauveldt-Ryszana".

A traumatized, but recovering, MT-Early PMT/FanT constitutional monarchy consisting of a personal and constitutional union of two Realms. Features: near-universal gun ownership, governmental dysfunction, terrified Christinaslander Air National Guard personnel counting down the days until they rotate back home, and an eternal standoff with the last of it's former oppressors.

Foodcourt.
Alaina Trasnaigh of the Tribe of Clonmel.

We were musicians, all of us, who understood, that the important part was not, how many CDs one sold or how many people attended the concerts, but that the important part was the art. Not the empty art, but the art filled with emotion, with joy, with being.
Of course we would be getting along!
"Of course we are!", Layla said with a smile, taking a sip. "Some of our people are bound to be there, too, so look for the lads and lassies of the SDF-Navy!"
"I even heard, that the Maighdean is here on a training cruise with ensigns, so new meat will be there, too!", I added with a grin. Indeed, sailors were always a fun crowd...

Foodcourt.
Fiona Banphrionsa of the Tribe of Cavan.

I was standing in line to get both of us something to eat from one of the stalls, Gwen stood in a quite corner, her stomach so big... she was due quite soon, by the end of October. The Doctor said around the 22nd.
She had a radiating beauty because of it.
Sure, she was a beautiful woman, my teenage self could go on and on about her beauty, but now... she looked happy. Something, which I hadn't seen her being in a long, long time...
The the father approached - Jan Breytenbach.
The guy, who had fucked Gwenny until she had a little life grow inside of her. He looked happy to see her, told her something, which made her smile and turn to him. He seemed happy, too.
Except for a very icy dinner with Nora, Gwenny, Uncle Tyran (a.k.a. Tyran Cathlong, Gwenny's Grandfather), me and him, I had little experience with him, but he seemed to love her. And the child.
Those were the important parts.
A few moments later, it was my turn and I ordered three fruit shakes, receiving them a few moments later. When Gwenny had finished her hearty welcome of the father of her unborn child, I joined them.
"Hello, Mister Breytenbach.", I said with a smile and handed him one of the fruit shakes, the other went to Gwenny, who gave me a peck on the cheek. I grinned. "I see, that you already spotted our greatest treasure."
Gwen blushed lightly, but took a sip of the shake.

Ensign Fiona 'Fi' Bláth of the Tribe of Wexford.
Umberlee Shipyards Display.

Much like SDY, the local top dog Umberlee did not spare any expense when they set up their display, all twelve military export designs represented by engineers and scale models and 3D screens and I think, that I spotted the CEO somewhere.
Still, the Commander and I knew enough about Naval Engineering to find our ways around.
One had to give Umberlee one thing: They knew, what they were doing.
Any polite offer from engineers to aid us was declined for now, as we knew, what we were doing, too. It was good, that we were here, though, because what we saw made us aware, that an armed conflict between Port Ember and the Free Lands would not end nicely for either side.
In the end, we still approached someone, one of the Engineers.
"Excuse me, Sir?", I asked, bowed my head, "Ensign Bláth, SDFS Maighdean. Commander Bratoi and I have a few questions concerning the Armageddon-class."
From the scale model, the First Officer of the SDF-Navy Guided Missile Cruiser in harbour waved.

Tarja & Freya
Tarja tipped on the button on her smartphone, which triggered the shooting of a photo. She had her cheek pressed against her friend Freya and threw an arm around her shoulder. The two Elvish students were on vacation and decided to spend it in Port Ember. This was mainly due to the warm weather of the tropical island state, as it was in their home, Draycora something rougher again. For today, it's time to go to the Navy Day celebration. When the two arrived on the grounds, the Minister was just giving his speech.
They both dressed rather summerly. Tarja wore a pale green, sleeveless summer dress made of chiffon, which went up to just over her knees. Her dark blond hair let her fall unbound over her shoulders, putting a flower on the side of her hairdo. Freya's summer dress was white and had a floral pattern that, apart from the waist and sleeves, covered the whole dress. Her hair hung from her head as a plaited ponytail. Both had an amulet around their necks, which was made of a gilded soapstone and showed a sun wheel - the symbol of the goddess Sol.
The short summer dresses and the cutouts accented by the chain gave the two beautiful girls a little notice. That was their goal too. Since they have been here, they have noticed that this country has many nice guys. Tarja in particular knew how to attract the attention of such men.
Freya took a picture of the minister and began to whisper to Tarja.
"The phrases that he cut out could also be from our prince," she said in her Finnish mother tongue.
"You're right," answered Tarja. "But our prince is hotter."
Both started to giggle.
After the speech of the politician, the guests were led to the port, where they greeted the naval ships. The ships came from all over the world. There is even a cruiser from Draycora, it shone in the Elvish national colors.
Tarja made a soft "hm ...".
"What is it?" Freya asked.
"How can you celebrate war tools like that?" Tarja wondered. "Luckily we have abolished our military".
"It was even privatized," Freya replied, pointing to the logo on the cruiser. "The cruiser is from a private company".
After that event, they went to the Alpha Hall for the International Shipyard Promotion.

A classic steam cruiser, as it was probably used in the early twentieth century, entered the port. Its hull was painted in the color called "Amber", its deck was white and the chimneys were in a straight turquoise. It was certainly known to some of the guests of the Navy Day Festival that these are the national colors of the Principality of Draycora. The flag of this nation was hoisted at the bow, above it hung the flag of Port Ember. On both sides of the fuselage hung a logo; a blue circle on its sides the golden inscription "Akatemia Oyj." , in the middle of which is the equally golden picture of this steam cruiser. Something that distinguished Draycora's navy from the others, that there was not only a Marine, and that they were all private companies. Akatemia Oyj. was such a private marine company, so is Oyj. the Finnish version of Inc ..
When the ship docked in the port, a mature man stepped on the land. His gray hair was almost completely thinned out, but a considerable gray beard grew from his chin. A blue uniform decorated with badges clothed him. On the left side of his belt pouch hung a scabbard with a golden saber in it.
This man was Amiraali Juhani Pauli Kaskeala. What the title Amiraali means is different from company to company. But you can translate it with Admiral. So Juhani wore the star, the four golden stripes and the golden banner on the sleeves.
The admiral was not only the holder of a title, but also CEO of the marine company. For a long time, there was no longer any naval work but rather focused on the management of the group. But for festive and representative purposes he could be Amiraali again. The admiral dismounted, followed by a few crew members. Now he could show what he could.

Elias & Euphoria -- University Port
"Interesting. I have never heard of a nation where nudity is part of their culture. Well. No matter. I thank you for you explanation. Tell me, what nation do you hail from?"

"Oh, we are from the Epistocratic Confederation of Sophistan," Euphoria replied.
"The greatest nation in the world!" Elias added. "The only nation in which true justice and wisdom rule".
"Ilías! Skáse! (Shut your mouth!)" Euphoria told her brother in a sharp way.

At Karl's question of whether she have never used a bandaid before, she giggled. Offcourse she did before - in fact she was a qualified paramedic, but she wanted an excuse to spend a few moments more with the cute sailor. And he now touched her leg, which made her blush softly. With her blush still present she finally replied, "Thank you for the aid Karl! And aye - I am indeed a local. Born and bred around the docks. Ye know ye have been very kind to me.

The Engineer assigned to the Armageddon Class Arsenal Ship was approached by two uniformed Selkie Sailors, whom introduced themselves as Ensign Bláth and Commander Bratoi. The Engineer offered a soft bow in greeting (which he learned from a mandatory culture seminar before the festival commenced). He clearly lit up as they showed interest, as he took great pride and honour in the vessel in question - he was part of the design of it afterall.

As the veteran war hero Commander Crusuo did his rounds around the Docks, he observed the steam cruiser from Draycora entered port. Although she was obviously an antique, she remained a beatifull beast, and a testiment to her engineering genuis of her time. Once the ship had docked, the Commander approached the vessel and spotted the captain. He walked up to the older gentleman and extended his hand, "Greetings! The thought that she might actually find him cute failed to occur to him.

Gina and Robbie

Gina listened carefully, smiled and replied
"Thanks, the one on the golden age sounds interesting, now, where's the lift? I dont do too well on stairs, they're hard work" comments Gina, referencing her lack of a lower right leg thanks to a propeller of a speed boat.

Robbie looks around, then back to Gina, "Fitt, the silverport display seems to be interesting, may be worth coming back to that one", her eyes then spot someone
"Isn't that Diplo-trucker's husband over there?"
Diplo-trucker being the social media account of a certain Penny Snyder, followed by Gina and Robbie, both of who know Zoe Mariner who owns Meridian Cargo Systems - The former boss of Penny and Evan

Gina looks over, "yes I think it is, meaning that guy there must be Sir Nick" she says to Robbie before reaching for her phone and opening her Instapic account snapping a photo of Evan and sending it to his account with a message.

Evan Snyder and Nick Warszinski
In Evan's pocket, a phone vibrates as he looks carefully at a model before reaching for it and momentarily glancing at it
"Nick, over there" he says, not using Nick's title. Nick looks over, spotting Gina who is giving a wave.

Evan gestures towards Gina and Robbie, and so the two of them make their way over to Evan and Sir Nick....

His words were overblown - yet, who could blame him? First, he worked for the company building these ships and I, personally, doubted, that the local defense forces considered the Armageddon-class in the same high praises. Second, no weapon was ever the 'ultimate' weapon.
Knowing of the enemy's weapons allowed for potential enemies to counter these weapons and no matter what the defense industry everywhere, including our own claimed, no weapon system was truly unbeatable.
Some found that out the hard way.
"Indeed, 1,200 missiles is a huge number... I wonder one thing, though, for a start...", the Commander began, "The vessel has 1,200 missile tubes, too - are they not capable of multi-packing, like our own Fe-12 Modules?"
That was indeed an interesting point raised by the commander, for while we only had 228 tubes on the Maighdean, we could pack up to 896 missiles, if we put quad-packed missiles into every tube - of course, that couldn't be done with every missile, but the Miodóg-SAM and the Type 43 AShM were good examples.

The men wave to the crowd, as the 20 in the corner walk over, the men chatting happily. A few sat down, cleaning their blades. Suddenly, a pair of men break off, followed by the another 3 men. 2 take up positions across from eachother, as 2 of the other men stand next to them, and the third stands in the center. Both bow, and locked eyes. Each was now holding a distinct weapon, unlike the rather plain swords they had used before. One was armed with a massive zweihander, the other with a flail. The man in the center called out. "We will now commence the duel between First Lieutenant al-Artan, and First Lieutenant al-Yeran. Both contestants are the highest ranking officers in the drill unit, and will be leading the Drill, in the absence of al-Zefar. We request that all watchers stay a safe distance away. First to surrender loses. On the line is the responsibility of buying the entire 50 man land crew drinks at the tavern, come night!" The large crowd of Kafairian sailors cheered at this. "The duel will commence in 3, 2, 1, Go!"

Artan starts it off, spinning his body, and sending the blade directly at Yeran. Yeran ducks it, his flail flying up at Artan's chin. He blocked it, sending the flat of the massive blade at Yeran, as the flail came up, hitting away the blade. Both set back, and go at it again, in a very intense battle. The 2 men next to each would stop the fight if the sailor they were watching was either in danger, or if the 2 go too close. al-Zefar walked up, watching. Cheers came from the others, when Artan got a close shave on Yeran, where he held the blade, in the handle, and one hand on the blade, sending it down. Yeran dodged, stumbling back. Than again, when Yeran spun, the flail whipping at Artan, where is was bounced away, the 2 going at it again. One would see, though, the it as carefully in check. Every so often, both would step back, taking a second, and readying again, than leaping back into it. The 2 men watching each were careful, making sure both were safe. This was the truest element for a Kafairian. On the field of battle.

Harbour Master Aedin Green

The salted Harbour Master barked orders whilst overseeing the replenishment of all the docked naval vessels. Under his command fuel were pumping, and all manner of rations and medical supplies were finding themselves to their new stores in record time. All the teamsters and technicians at work were masters of their respective trades, as part of the authorities attempt to show of its competence and hospitallity. The harbour master also contacted the docked vessels and informed them to communicate any additional needs.

Mister Breytenbach, you sure know, how to make nice compliments!", I said and nodded towards the sailors, a reflex I had developed when working with different armed forces over the years. Gwen, slightly blushing from the hand on her stomach, did something similar. "I am actually two years older then Gwenny."
"She is.", Gwen confirmed, taking a big gulp, "But more importantly, and before I get jealous..." The little devils dancing in her eyes told me, that she was just joking. "...how have you been, Jan?"

Alaina took hold of Jason's hand and gave it a tight squeeze - a totally surprising gesture, but most definitely not an unwelcome one. Alaina told Jason of their previous experience where they were granted the oppertunity to perform live for the deployed forces of the Free Lands Armed Forces. Jason smiled broadly, with just a hint of sadness visible in his eyes as he replied, and gently returned the hand squeeze, "Wow! That must have been one hell of a experience!? I can only imagine the feeling of pride ye girls felt at that moment, realising that ye are actually making a difference with your music. I myself have always dreamt of such an oppertunity, but alas, the Port Emberian Security Forces have never allowed any band to perform overseas during a deployment. Their still uptight about civilians entering their warzone" Jason sighed before continuing, "Anyways I hope ye lassies enjoyed the culinary taste of Port Ember! Whats the next stop on yer program?"

Jan Breytenbach

Jan always the gentleman smiled politely. He was trained in the art of making people feel comfortable. Jan's joy was visible in his eyes, as he still tried to convince himself that this wonderfull reality surrounding him was not one of his ever present dreams of being reunited with his Gwenny. "Oh Gwen, I have been well, no complaints here!" He was lying through his teeth offcourse, the job of being the Minister of Defence was no walk-in-the-park even on the best of days, not even to mention the reality of which The Republic found itself in at the current moment. Her forces were deployed on a global scale in a multitude of different conflicts, She was truly beset by enemies on every turn, and Jan had to ensure that none of those sharp knives made it to the ribs of the Republic. He forced a smile as he continued, My only and deepest regret was spending so much distance and time away from you my love. I failed to be at your side through this wonderfull journey... I hope you can forgive me?"

The engineer swore he could see from the reaction of his audience that they saw right through his tall-tale. He did indeed oversell the value of the vessel, but he did not really care. He was still proud of the ship, as he was 9ne of the lead engineers on the vessel. Even though she was not unstoppable as he made it sound, she was still a very formidable and scary beast. He listened closely to the commander's question and nodded at appropriate moments, and finaly replied, "A very observant question commander. The normal cells of Umberlee is capable of multi-packing indeed, yet with the Armageddon Class, the Company insisted we use a single purpose Cell, fitting specific missiles only. This was done to fit more cells in total instead of multi packing.." The engineer sighed and attempted to hide his frustration. "But.. I am not allowed to call that a design flaw.. but a.. experimental concept.. Excuse me I am rambling..To awnser you straight forwardly Commander, the current cells cannot accomodate multi-packing, which the Port Emberian Navy is unsatisfied with, and the entire class is scheduled for a upgrade, where the new Tridento Naval Combat System will be fitted to the class, and includes the new and upgraded - and multipacking capable cells."

The small gathered crowd seated under the tree's continued watching the entertaiment provided by the Kafair Squad, this time performing a live weaponised duel between two sailors. The crowds erupted in cheers and applause as the duel dragged on.
