The States-Federation of Snefaldia is in the early stages of civil war. The Supreme Council, the military government established in 2014, has largely broken up along factional lines following the illness and retirement of strongman Lord Chancellor Markes Vinselmo-Ryme. These factions control different parts of government, the armed forces, and regions within Snefaldia.
International observers and the media would largely know the following information:
Government Factions & Leaders
Army Clique: Headed by Sygme Vinselmo-Ryme, the Minister of State and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission. The Army Clique controls 1/3rd of the Snefaldian Army, and parts of the Dayan West and Northern Military Regions along with their air forces. Members: Magazyk Hurriya, Commerce Minister & CMC General Armament Department head.
Navy Clique: Led by Ta’us Rata’a, Lord Admiral & Minister of the National Bel. The Navy Clique holds is in almost complete control of the Navy, 1/3rd of the airforce, and the Sargedain Capital and Dayan East military regions, as well as Taxilha. The Navy Clique holds the immediate capital region and the majority of the central government ministries. Members: Stifan Brathy, CMC member and former Air Force chief.
Zannanza/Royalist Clique: An informal bloc nominally headed by General Zannanza, the Minister of Justice, with power bases in Karduniash-East Military Region and parts of Dayan East. Supported by Karduniash Luwite generals and governors. Members: Huradinak, Health Minister. James Korvik-Hantili, Labor Minister & CMC General Political Department head.
Ultraconservatives: An alliance of extreme right-wing conservative supporters of Aatem Nal, based in Serasarda, with power bases in many of the major cities. Supported by hard-line military officers. Ostensibly led by Grand Librarian Shan Parshtatar, but also includes many in the hierarchy of the Dominion of Hapalla and Seha.
Nonaligned/State Party Clique: A nebulous group of civil administrators, diplomats, and public servants. The so-called “state party” is focused on maintaining the operation of government and foreign policy. Ostensibly controlled by Foreign Minister Severín vèl Ortóvenë, but also by Ambassador Wemiya Tarku.
Nongovernment Factions & Groups
The Communist Party of Snefaldia: A Marxist-Leninist-Maoist revolutionary party, based largely in Allasha province. The General Secretary of the Party is a man named pseudonymously named Ullikummi, and whose identity is unclear. The Communist Party believes in the violent overthrow of the state and the establishment of socialism in Snefaldia. They have support among the working classes in the major cities around Snefaldia, but primarily in the west.
Committee for a Democratic Snefaldia: a center-left bloc based in the Caldan Union, composed of former officials and civil society leaders who fled the Hantili coup, including Ilionás Sondrásái, Foreign Minister under Ren Dirh, and Nemo Taranton, former World Assembly Minister, and Zylvan Hossa, businessman and former ambassador to Aerion.
Homeland Front: The successors to the former electoral Homeland Front of Khoung Davijic Tukka purged in the Hantili Coup, the Homeland Front is a Luwite supremacist militant group largely based in Biai province in the north and rural Sring Issa and Dayan. The Homeland Front’s leaders are unknown.
