I nodded - wise decision.

I threw him a wink.
Dad rolled his eyes. "Now, Mister Buchan...", he said now that those arrangements were finished, "If I may ask, what do you do occupation-wise?"

"I hold three occupations, Your Highness," Ruairi replied, "Actor, philanthropist and mental health activist. I thought for a moment.
"No, not really.", I replied, "It's not as if he told us that at the morning of his coronation or something, but rather he made that clear quite early. He always said, that Papa's job seemed too boring."
I giggled as I remembered one particular occassion, when he told Papa that.
"So, quite early, all of the training and duties fell onto me and to be honest, while there are some slow days, the majority of the time it's a very nice job.", I added, "It's not as if we were purely representative, but our words holds weight."

Rena, Prinzessin von Wißenthen.
It was a bit as if watching a movie as the silence stretched on and on, before Maria introduced herself.
Of course, Raik replied with a small bow. "It is a great pleasure to make your acquaintance, Your Royal Highness. I am Prince Raik of Bucktend.", he said and offered his hand. Once he had his in hers, he would softly kiss the back of it, while holding eye contact. "Indeed, it is a very lovely evening."
Rena.exe responded at that.
"Is that so?", I asked with a smirk, "What does make this evening so nice, in your mind, then?"
"The food.", he said with a nonchalance and charme, which made lesser girls faint. "And, of course, the current company." He smiled. "May I invite you two for a bite?"

Prince Phillippe
“I see. Well, I am glad you were not thrown into the fray of governing a region. Lest, as I am sure we both know, worse off members of the nobility have been,” the Prince commented. He surveyed the ballroom once more observing the numerous dancers involved.

Changing the subject, Philippe asked, “Tell me, Your Serenity, do you know much about Fürst Alrich III? I have briefly met him, but I am curious about to learn more our host from those who socialize with him.”

Princess Maria
Feeling the Prince’s lips against her hand, Maria felt immediately uneasy. It was true, Prince Raik was handsome, but something about him made her hesitant to open up to him. Composing herself, the Princess forced a smile while listening to his request.

“Ah, yes. I will say I am interested in trying more Teressian delicacies,” Maria responded. “Rena has been an absolute delight in sharing with me the wonders of Teressien.” The Princess took a moment to flash a genuine smile at her new friend.

Turning back towards the Prince, she continued, “Would you recommend any dish in particular, Your Serenity?”

Jolene Gudfrey

Jolene's milky soft and smooth cheeks burst out in a bright red blush - matching the attention grabbing red colour of her dress, displaying her softer and almost child like side. A side which came out on display every now and then, normally when living out her fast paced wild social life in the nightclubs of Port Ember - in contrast to her hardass, steely resolve which she puts up for business purposes.

She obviously misunderstood the statement of the older gentleman - she have thought that they meant they wish to speak in german as its their native tounge - however they actually meant Jolene should address the waitress in german as their son has left the table, who is normally their translator. In her attempt to impress the table, she embarressed herself with this idiotic play.

With her blush still clearly visibly, she let out a soft and cute giggle in her embarressed state, and finaly replied, in english offcourse, "Oh my! I clearly misunderstood your statement my Lord. I offer my humble appologies! I realise now my mistake. I prefer english as well, as its my native language, german is my third language." She decided that it was clear that the table understood the majority of her last piece of the conversation, and would not translate it to them, instead continuing with the conversation.

"Oh yes, the german and french heritage is an interesting part to my family's rich history, yet it is definitely not our defining feature. The french and german blood might be responsible for my physical features - but my personality and soul is firmly of a true blooded Port Emberian." Even though her first loyalty has always been to herself, she did consider herself as somewhat of a patriot, believing her home to be the greatest nation in the world. Her pride managed to overcome her previous embarressment, and her blush dissapeared from her cheeks.

"And indeed my lord, Port Ember is vastly different from your nation, and most probaly the brightest burning beacon for free market capitalism on the planet. But I have no qualms with any other nation whom follows other economical philosophies, in fact I have made many millions in profit by doing business with socialist hardliners. But.. this evening is not about discussing economical models now is it?"

Jolene by now fully recovered from her previous embarressment and was her old confident self. She flashed a smile. Jolene laughed at the age versus charm banter between the gentleman, feeling thouroughly entertained. She finally responded, "Oh my lord, no trick was needed. I must admit that Sir Roderique's charm still requires some.. sharpening.. I do find him good company."

Jolene noticed the waitress Lykke standing only a few meters from the table, looking straight at her, obviously standing by to assist when and if needed. She admired the professionalism of the girls working here tonight, and made a mental note to enquire about employing this lassies in future for her own events. She flashed a friendly smile and a nod at her, signalling that she required her presence at the table.

"Yes well. life is much different when it is not centered on the vanity of profit. There is more to life than just the pursuit of wealth, no miss Jolene?" Alessandre smiled, sipping his wine "But you are right Signorina, we are not here to discuss economics...at least not at the moment."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Roderique raised an eyebrow

"We have things to discuss, the three of us. But obviously now is not the time. When you've had your fun just come back."

What is it about? Tell me." Roderique stood up, looking back and forth between Alessandre and Luis "This is the summit isn't it?"

"Yes, it is." Alessandre sighed "But we can talk about it later if you would like. Let you enjoy yourself for a moment. Now sit down before you cause a scene."

"I'll make the biggest scene I can if I wanted to. The duke of the ports and the king's left nut strong-arming me to vote against the autonomy of the French Quarter. Is that it?" Roderique was becoming increasing agitated but not enough to turn too many heads.

"If you sit down and take a breath, we will tell you." the advisor assured his companion calmly, then turned to the young lady present "Signorina Jolene. Would you like to excuse us a moment? Maybe come back in time for the dance. We greatly apologize as you have just arrived."

Roderique hesitant;y got back into his seat, deep anger in his eyes as he internally cursed these two men.

I raised an eyebrow, almost coming to metaphorical blows with the boy about philosophy of Rulership - and there were many Philosophies of Rulership. His callousness... it did not rub me in the wrong way, I only saw it as a challenge for a good discussion.
The topic was discarded, however, when he changed it to my date.
Or the absence of one.
"I am here alone tonight, in my Father's stead.", I said and twirled my glass of wine, "Sadly, he came down with a bout of summer flu, otherwise, we would be here together. It's nothing serious, but he opted to stay at home before it turned into something, that would impair his duties."
An outright lie, but one, which would find its confirmation in official press releases of Schloss Heimgeholz, if one bothered to check.

Constantino was a decent person-reader, he'd like to think so. He knew there was more to whatever this was but it was best for him not to push "Ah, the damned summer flu. Ruined many-a summer weeks. Not for me of course, I keep myself healthy. Or try to at least" he gave a smile. It is true though, one must keep themselves as healthy as they can if they are to do what they must as long as they can. "Eh, I'm getting old" he chuckled, taking out yet another cigarette "Well, I'm twenty-seven, so that means I'm almost thirty, and thirty is an old age back home. Especially for someone like me." lighting the cigarette he took a drag, blowing it away from the girl "But it is understandable wanting to keep up with his duties, your father. I myself am the 'Deputy Lord' of my family's county. It's one of those free city type deals, so we're not really under anyone that isn't the king himself. You ever heard of the name 'Massimo'?"

Lykke Blon.
I saw Gudfrey's signal and approached the table, a professional expression on my face.
While I did not know about her will to hire some of us for her own events, I knew, that we had a good reputation for professionalism and skill, much like our colleagues at Schloss Hochheyde and Schloss Kap Leuenkönig, who were our main competitors in the contest of being the best Hausmädchen in Teressien.
It was a contest fought bitterly, but with friendly competitive spirit.
Anyway, when I was at the table, I bowed down and asked Miss Gudfrey in Teressien: "Sie wünschen, meine Dame?"
Your wish, Milady? was a standard as an appelation in such a situation. My tablet was stacked high with drinks, but maybe she wanted something else?

Jolene Gudfrey

As the discussion at the table started to heat up and the three men started arguing concerning some internal political affair, Jolene was asked to excuse herself from the table, and to return later when the discussion was finalised. Jolene shot a look at Roderique who invited her to the table and was a strong potential business partner, to see if he would object to this madness. He did not.

Jolene's heart and face burst into metaphotical flames as she was overcome with the most intense feeling of anger and hate which she have felt in a long time. She remained silent for a few seconds, forcing herself to extinguish the explosion of anger inside of her, for if she spoke then, she would have shouted at full volume.

After only a few seconds she managed to regain control of her anger and stared deep into the eyes of Alessandre, her eyes filled with hate, "You attempt to display a false sense of chivalry, yet you wish to treat me like a second grade being. Perhaps it is acceptable for senile old men to treat women like property where you are from, but a Port Emberian lass will never allow such barbarity. In fact, if a Port Emberian man saw this, he would have had your tounge for such nonsense. You could clearly have waited five minutes for your political scinaving, but your sensd of entitlement did not allow basic respect to prevail.." She rose from her seat and looked down upon Roderique, "Goodluck with entering the international markets without my help, I see no sense in doing business with a spineless brute." She once again gave a look filled with hatred to the three seated men, and offered a soft bow - obviously with the deepest sense of sarcasm, "Excuse me mi' lords..", her words filled with poision.

She turned around and took a glass of red wine from the waiting handmaiden's tray. She forced a smile and attempted to sweeten her voice when she offered a simple "Thank you for the excellent service dearie". Jolene then continued to walk away without a care in the world.

Khalid Faris.
Oh, this was getting interesting.
Her whispering into my ear had caused quite an interesting feeling... she did have a certain allure, one had to give her that, of a mature woman.
"I would be honoured, oh, great doe.", I said with a smile and a small bow. "Though I do hope, that you, too, will find a piece of paradise." I offered my arm to link and smiled at her. "Please call me Khalid, Your Imperial Majesty."

Wilrun, Baronin von Port Monee.
I shook my head.
"No, it was quite an interesting story.", I said and then went back a bit to a previous topic, "As for one of the Alphas or several to attend one of my soirees, if they are ever around Port Monee, when I hold one, I would be happy to have them." I let a beat pass. "Though I do ask for a call ahead, not that they stand on the doorstep one day and I have to say 'Sorry, but no luck today. Wanna have a cup of coffee?'" I raised a hand to prevent any objections. "Don't worry, all happened before. Quite embarassing for either side, let me tell you..."

Dowager Empress Anna Blachkov
"I expect nothing less from you, young hunter, replies Agathe with a smile and a small bow as well, before linking arms with him. All right Khalid, but only if you call me Agathe in return."

Imperial Guard Colonel Bradley Myers
"Thank you Baronin, replies Brad with a small bow of the head. I imagine that must have indeed been quite embarassing for you and for the guests, he adds with a small chuckle. Which is why I gave you my card, for your staff to send us the future dates of your parties, if you agree. Otherwise, if you are called every week by one of the Alphas, asking when the next party is, it's going to get on your nerves at some point, and nobody wants that, don't they?
Joke aside, I was wondering, but how often do you have to leave your domain to come here at the capital for politics and such?"

Shikonjima wrote:Jirou smiled back.
"These old machines with their old operating systems aren't always bad" - he said, "quite on the contrary - they are usually less vulnerable and liable to mistakes and attacks than many modern machines, also due to their relatively simple code structure. There is a reason why some space agencies still use them for certain control operations, at least for those that can get quite hairy for human lives - and for the national budget, of course, for you don't want have your space ship, which to construct and launch may have cost about 50 million Ryous or even more, to get blown up or to vaporize in the atmosphere, as it has already happened. Besides, of course, they are quite useful for programming, too - as I said, their code structure is way less sophisticated than those of modern machines. They're pretty reliable."
"Which still doesn't deny the fact, that a gamer needs, in ideal case, the best and newest system currently available on the market - provided that it's also within their budget" - Shiruko added, grinning. "Games like Age of Empires may run wonderfully on a computer as old as the game, or even older, but won't be capable of bearing the lagfests Jirou's redstone constructions may cause."
"And we're speaking of a relatively simple-structured game, even though it has become a bit more sophisticated over the years, not to mention the practically endless opportunities to run mod packs, texture packs and shaders on it" - Jirou noted.

Shiko had raised her eyebrows, as Purgatio was mentioned - she hadn't heard a lot about that place, but what she knew, was that it was a very ... special place, to say the least, or 'not exactly in harmony with the Four Souls', as a Shikonjimanese would say. The Principality did not have a lot of relations there, probably because that country had been less open to foreigners for a long time, anyways. However, the name Celina Treorai was not even unknown to her, but rather in the context of Bicíní Industries, which she had worked as a model for. She was sure to have heard, that she was in a relationship with a lad from Lillorainen, but Shiko tended to mix up all these somewhat-similar-sounding Rhenish names pretty often, so his name wouldn't come into her mind right now - but she took a note in her mind to look out for her travelogue, for it would surely be an interesting read.
She was asked for her own literature recommendations along these lines, and Shiko thought for a moment.
Then she said, "Indeed, there are quite a few pieces of literature telling about school exchanges" - she said. "The one I enjoyed most was written by a 17-year-old Shikonjimanese girl named Setsuko Furuyashi, the title being Of Parrots, Jaguars and Crowned Eagles - A Dragon-Girl Lost In the Jungle. She describes the one year of school exchange she spent in Inilani, Kelaina - which, as you may know, used to be part of the Shikonjimanese Empire and nowadays belongs to the United Confederacy. Keoke enjoyed it as well, for obvious reasons, especially getting an impression as to what this place is perceived like by someone who has not grown up there. She describes the local, in many aspects still very tribal culture, the relics of Shikonjimanese Colonial Rule, and how they perceived her. The difference between the perspectives of the common history we share are pointed out as well - especially under the aspects of the changes since Kelaina's independence, and especially since the Revolution and the U.C.'s founding. While it was surely not as horrible as going to Purgatio, there were still vast differences and culture shocks."
She let a beat pass.
"I could name a number of further examples, but this was the one I enjoyed the most. And I'm sure, that there will be a few other very good ones underway soon as well."
Indeed, it would - soon she would be able to read yet another one, this time about Shikonjima from a foreign perspective; another travelogue, written by a 15-year-old girl named Yelda Altanereg, would be released at the end of next month, in Sharulsi Mongolian - Shikonjimanese and English translations would probably be out yet another month later.

Heda, Prinzessin von Dorch.
I scratched my cheek.
Well, I must admit, that I am not too knowledgeable in the internal workings of computers. I like to play, I know, which part to hit, if the blasted doesn't work, and that's about it.”, I said and shrugged, “If I am clueless, I call Vin. I have yet to encounter a computer problem, which he can't solve and I don't know, if I will ever.
I shrugged.
What I do know, is that Teressian Space Engineers are currently limited in their exploits to Kerbal Space Programme, myself included.”, I said and smiled, “Single-Stage to Eeloo, Baby!
I even pumped my fist at this proud declaration!

Aaltje Schreyg.
Rena nodded. “Furuyashi, Of Parrots, Jaguars and Crowned Eagles, got it.”, she said and nodded again, “It sounds interesting already. And about as serious, though for different reasons...”
I smiled. “I did hear from a colleague, that they were thinking about making a movie out of another travelogue, The Wonders of the Lands of the Selkie and the People, who inhabit them.
Gerulf gave a short laugh. “Now you're just scratching us under our chins!”
I shrugged with a smile that said Well, got me! while Rena explained: “That account was written by an ancestor of Gerulf, a certain Alexander von Sykane. A man held in high esteem in Teressien to this day.”
Gerulf nodded. “I had the pleasure of meeting a letter-friend of his, Miss Sneachtúil of the Spiorad, and I believe, that he does not get the credit he deserves in my family.”, he said with a bit of regret in his voice.

Berengar seemed intrested. "Huh...fascinating. So are the Younger Militias your version of the Boy/Girl Scouts, or are they something else?"
He decided not to mention his father's disdain for any of his children going into the civil service.

OOC: I know, not my best, but it's the best I can do while half-awake.

Princess Fara bint-Dardan.
I raised an eyebrow – one had to give her one thing: She had moxie.
Certainly not from her father, though.
I raised my hand and snapped my fingers once – as if appearing out of the shadows, a woman a few years older then me stepped out of the night, her green eyes shining like emeralds. She wore a Altanafus min la Shay, the Breath of Nothing, that was the traditional dress for Handmaidens in Kyrenaia, the deep red threads running through the white silk telling someone in the know, that she belonged to the Palace of the Ruby Hall.
She was my Personal Handmaiden, Saida Adib. Aceus would recognize her.
Please see to it, that Aceus-Malik has plenty to drink, Saida.”, I asked of her in Kyrenaian, she bowed her head in silent grace.
My eyes had not left Erika's, until I turned on the spot and walked back towards the patio, motioning for her to follow me or to remain with her Father, whatever pleased her.

Ida Findehoof.
I thought for a moment. “They became something like that, yes.”, I said, “Their existence to an ancient law in the Free Lands, that, I quote, every child learning the arts of numbers and signs has to learn how to defend his homestead, unquote. And in the beginning, until around a century ago, the Younger Militias were exactly that: Students at school learning how to fight with spears, swords, pikes, crossbows and similar implements in order to be ready to defend their cities, towns, villages and farmsteads.”
I let a beat pass.
“After the Battle of Anfa-Ridge in 1903, though, they were reformed. We still learn these things but also first aid and other important skills, so that the Younger Militias are nowadays a manpower reserve for natural disasters. Every other year, they are called upon to shovel snow, for example.”, I finished, “And they are under strict orders by the Army to surrender immediately should an enemy approach.”

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Dad nodded along with the explanation, and grinned in the end.
“Philantropist and activist – something we are quite acquainted with, right, Aurelia?”, he asked and I nodded.
“Indeed we are, Father.”, I said, “I am active in politics as a proponent of homosexual marriage and a corresponding change of the law within Kyrenaia. Despite claims by the media, Father has little to do with that.” He nodded with a small smile, as if saying, that he supported me no matter the result, as long as I fought. “Both of us are also engaged in a number of charities. Father, for example, is a patron of the arts and supports efforts to establish arts as a method of therapy for psychological maladies.”
“While Aurelia here is a known patroness of horseback therapies for disabled children.”, Dad said with a lot of pride in his voice and I blushed.

Herzogin Alvina von Raycbucht.
He wanted to know about Alrich?
“Hm...”, I made, the question would rather be, What could I tell him about Alrich? “He's a musician at heart, a politician by occupation. Do not be worried, when he sounds or looks as if he is mentally somewhere else, he is not. He listens to everyone speaking to him.” I let a beat pass. “He's also not a smiling person... I swear, he goes to another room to laugh.” Watching him and Enya, I thought of something else, which one could say about him. “And he loves her. It sometimes seems, that he does not know, why he loves her, but he does.”

Rena, Prinzessin von Wißenthen.
I smiled back when Maria smiled at me and I blushed, when Raik shot me a smile at that.
He considered for a moment. “You don't look like a person to me, who would enjoy spicy food, so...”, he began and considered my friend, even putting his head to the side, slightly. “...something sweet?”
It was cliché, but maybe the right call.
“Schoko-Bonbons.”, he suddenly concluded and turned to the table with a smile, producing a small silver place with the confections. They were small, dark chocolate balls with a core of Marzipan, which is coated in nougat. They were absolutely delicious.
I nicked one before he could offer them properly, which made him stop to looking at me. I shrugged, he smiled.
He offered the plate to Marie, a bit like a waiter would, with a charming smile. “As we say, please, help yourself, there's more then enough for everyone!”, he told her.

I myself am the 'Deputy Lord' of my family's county. It's one of those free city type deals, so we're not really under anyone that isn't the king himself. You ever heard of the name 'Massimo'?"

Lien, Prinzessin von Byrkland.
I raised an eyebrow at his inquiry.
“Actually, no.”, I said, most likely shooting him down quite heavily, “A family of note in your country, I take?”
Whereever he was from, I had not heard of a Massimo-Family before. Then again, if I were to ask him, if he had heard of the House of Byrkwall or the House of Hochheyde, he would most likely answer something similar, despite the House of Byrkwall being mine and the House of Hochheyde being the one of the Fürst, his dynasty.
Both 'families of note', so to speak, yet virtually unknown abroad.

Port Ember wrote:Jolene Gudfrey

Morgane Macánta of the Tribe of Cork, the High Priestess of Cailb, was alone as well, her date having left her standing by the Refreshments Table. She was enjoying a glass of wine.

“It would be my pleasure, Agathe.”, I replied as I led her away, towards the dance floor, then informed her: “The next dance will be a Kyrenaian Polka. They can be danced like the Kyrenains do or like a Fast Polka in general.” I smiled. “Surely, we will see at least one person showing off and dancing it as we do, but I do not my capabilities as a dancer well enough to drag you into a counter, Agathe.”
I smiled a bit sheepish.

Erika followed Fara out onto the patio, and turned to face her. After a few seconds, she decided to initiate the conversation-staring awkwardly at the gardens or at each other probably wouldn't do.
But where to begin?
"So." she started. "...How did you and father meet? Someone set you up, or did you run into each other at some sort of event?"

Berengar closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.
After awhile his eyes opened again. "I remember something about that...Crisis of 1903, if I remember right. One thing, though. You said that they trained mostly with pikes and the like? As everyone was definitely busy socialising with the loads of guests that had arrived, for Catherine and her sister, Juliana, the two were initially forced to cut their arrival time by a large margin, due to several unspecified reasons. However, this did not deter them from arriving safely at the ball.As the two made their first steps into the ballroom, the queen and crown princess appeared posed with their respective but similar white colored dresses.Taking a few seconds to look around at their surroundings, the crown princess turned her head slightly for a whisper.

"Sissy, let's stick together, please?".The queen wasted no time in agreeing and they begin to gracefully walk through the crowds of guests, hoping to possibly stumble into someone random.

Ruairi nodded and hummed at both of their replies.

"Oh, yes, I heard of your wee crusade, Your Highness," Ruairi replied, "Awfy unfortunate that it had to be stained with a violent incident. But however, it's in the past, and I'm glad that your country's recovered, if not recovering, from it," he gave off a reassuring grin.

"Anyways," he turned to the father, "that's quite a interesting process you're advocating for. Just how artistic do artworks have to be to treat any psychological illnesses, and could you give me an example of one, at the best of your ability?"

Both Jirou and Shiruko laughed when Heda pumped her first had her proud declaration - the 'well-known' Teressian Space Agency, with its current plans, missions, and discoveries - and if it was only in KSP.
"Yeah, this is pretty much what the entire mission of Shikonjimanese Space Engineers currently boils down to as well!" - Shiruko said. "To explore some dwarf planet at the edge of the Kerbol System - well it's better than no place to ram the Royal Standard into at all!"
"If I recall correctly" - Jirou added, "there once were plans to assign a parent planet for Eeloo, thus turn Eeloo into a moon. I don't know if this is still being worked at, but in case it does, it could be interesting to see, whose Space Engineers, yours or ours, will be the first ones to explore that one!" He grinned. "Granted, no fun with flags there - they don't stick in the surface of gas planets particularly well!"

Shiko nodded. She would definitely watch the movie once it would come out!
"Alexander von Sykane is, indeed, a name which should ring a bell with more people!" - she said. "At least, it does so with me. And you're surely lucky to still be able to talk to someone he knew well, for she happens to be of the Spiorad! I also believe to vaguely remember, that Alexander has also visited Kuronami later on, if I'm not entirely mistaken, right?"
She let a beat pass.
"The Free Lands of the Selkie - or simply the Lands, spoken from a perspective of Alexander's time period - are surely a place that always has been interesting for many people to see" - she continued, "which will, most definitely, have inspired him to visit them - and not only him, for Hanna Marell happened to leave us one of the most famous quotes characterizing the Selkie in a nutshell. And people still go there, probably with the same initial fascination as people like Marell or Alexander, with the same expectations as to what the life of the Selkie looks like - and, despite all the years that have passed since these accounts have been written, still don't get disappointed. Granted, the Selkie have advanced since then as well, modern technological devices having become just as widespread as in, say, Shikonjima, but when it comes to the expectation of a very traditional, tribal society, I could, out-of-hand, name five countries that 'disappoint'" - she formed a quotation mark by moving the pointer and the middle finger of her right hand up and down, "foreign visitors more than the Free Lands - my own not even counted."
She let another beat pass.
"Though, I'm now wondering, Sir" - she continued, turning specifically to Gerulf, "why Alexander, still held in high esteem throughout the entire Teressian society, and rightfully so, receives remarkable less credit in yours of all families? I mean, I'm proud to be a Yamura, no question asked, but carrying the last name of such a famous explorer and naturalist would surely be something I'd be constantly bragging about as well. Is there a particular reason for that?"

I even already have a donor in mind, who would love to meet you."
I smiled at that.

Aceus
After a while Aceus simply had enough...he did not wish to remain silent for any longer. Once he had finally regained his courage, or perhaps a sense of madness, he would rise up and make his way towards Fara...if not stopped by the handmaid. He would politely insist in Kyrenaian that "Princess Fara was right. This matter had to be settled between the two of them."

The Heiromonk nodded and shook his head. "It appears that the Yellow Press rules the Sultanate, and Her Majesty merely reigns." he mused. "A pity, but what of this "donor"? Donors tend to have agendas, you know. Some might not appreciate a firebrand." the elder smiled sardonically.

But with the devlopment of railways and such, travelling became easier, so during the second half of the 19th century, this went to every three months.

Prince Philippe
Philippe nodded slowly as Alvina spoke. Fürst Alrich III seemed to be a reasonable man. And, from experience, having a listener as a ruler always helped. Though, when mentioning his current love, the Prince was surprised.

“Loves her,” the Prince questioned. Glancing at Enya from across the room, he could see the chemistry. Even when entering the ballroom earlier that night, it was clear there was a deeper relationship between the two. “Is it common for someone like the Fürst to be in love with a commoner? I, of course, mean no disrespect to either, as she seems quite nice. But, in Rivienland, this would certainly be a step towards social suicide. Even when my great aunt attempted to marry a man of lower rank, the Grand Duke at that time was close to banishing her from the Ducal Court altogether!”

Princess Maria
Hearing the Prince’s comment about spicy food, the Princess could not help but laugh, “You are quite right, Your Serenity. I was not expecting your country to have such spicy foods.”

As the Prince moved to grab something sweet, Maria was actually quite excited. It was no secret, for all her efforts to stray away from any temptation, sweets was one she could not give up. It was then Prince Raik said the word “bonbons” that the Princess’ mouth began to water. Among the small silver plate, these small delights looked divine and she nearly had to hold herself back from devouring them all.

Following Rena’s poor manners, the Princess immediately smiled at the Prince and took two Schoko-Bonbons off the plate. Placing them in her mouth, the Princess closed her mouth as she enjoyed the taste of dark chocolate and Marzipan. She could not help, but think of the fine chocolatiers in Novenville.

Before taking more, the Princess said, “These are absolutely amazing! I dare say not even the finest chocolatiers in Rivienland could create such treats Please, you must take the tray away before I eat them all,” Maria giggled. Taking two more and popping them into her mouth, she grabbed for a napkin to wipe her face.

“Tell me, Prince Raik, do you also have a soft spot for sweets?”

He didn't seem too happy with his lot in life, but he was still there and approachable.
Beyeha Fadwa Faris, of Surya Corps, was present as well, the dark-skinned Kyrenaian with the violet eyes surveying the ball room as well after she had left the company of Lieutenant Commander Karim Maghamir of the RKCG and his date, Adele Falk, who were already in a discussion about aviation with a few fellow air racers.
Morgane Macánta of the Tribe of Cork, the High Priestess of Cailb, was alone as well, her date having left her standing by the Refreshments Table. She was enjoying a glass of wine.
Ambassador Group 1, namely Miss Marla Cróimiam of the Tribe of Cork as Ambassador of the Selkie and Mister Áed Gadhair of the Tribe of Fermanagh as Ambassador of the Free Lands, was standing by their lonesome as well, their shared conversation partner having left them after dropping by for a quick hello. If someone wanted to make business with the Free Lands, now was the time to approach their diplomatic representatives.

He was Onno Buttel, the Head Butler of Schloss Zyng. If Jolene really wanted to know how to hire some Hausmädchen for her private gatherings, now was the time.

Jolene Gudfrey

As Jolene Gudfrey stood in the Ballroom, she took a sip of her wine in hand, which she enjoyed tremendously. It was a true quality wine and her mind wandered and wondered regarding the origin of the wine. She made a mental note to investigate at a later stage, and find out whether it could fit into her export business, as she knew quite a few wine conneseurs always looking for rare and tastefull wines.

As she snapped back to reality, she noticed a duo standing unintently in the ballroom, whom she recognised from photos - Miss Marla Cróimiam of the Tribe of Cork - the Ambassador of the Selkie and Mister Áed Gadhair of the Tribe of Fermanagh - the Ambassador of the Free Lands. Jolene immediately forgot about her anger she mustered only a few seconds ago, compliments from the 'gentlemen' of Lux Pulchrae when she noticed this new duo.

The Free Lands was a wealthy and influential regional nation, and still mostly untapped by Port Emberian business. Jolene was on the prowl to unlock the possible Free Lands economical benefits for a time now, unfortunately without success. Seeing the ambassadors here must have been a sign of faith and fate - The Golden Lady smiling upon Jolene for sure.

Thus without hesitation she walked over to the ambassador duo, and upon arrival she offered a soft bow as a greeting gesture (she was taught that this was the normally accepted Selkie greeting custom). She quickly followed with an introduction, "Blessed evening to you both Sir and Madamme. Jolene Gudfrey, owner of the Gudfrey Trading Company, hailing from the Republic of Port Ember."

After minutes of roaming around the ballroom, the two finally found two empty seats for use.As they rested themselves, the queen was the first to take note of the round of goblets neatly placed on the table. She then quickly took her sister's seemingly wavering attention in a quick instant."Rosey, a drink?", asked her openly. For the crown princess, she accepted it straight away but showed a bit of worry towards her older sister."You're not drinking, sissy?", asked Juliana diligently. In response, the queen gave a slight "No, thank you", to which it made the former thought that the latter is pregnant since pregnant women wouldn't normally drink under such circumstances. Her visibly aroused face of suspicion presented a clear warning for Catherine, leading her to quickly shut her sister's mouth before anything else in a lowered tone as to not arouse attention."Rosey, I am not, pregnant", said her sternly."Aw, but I want to have another niece!!", teased the crown princess in return. The two sisters spontaneously laughed it out in a polite manner.

As Juliana was happily taking several drinks from the provided bottle, Catherine seemed observant in her surroundings, seemingly studying the people around. To add, she would turn to her sister's a few times as to make sure she doesn't overdrink herself.

I made a vague gesture into the direction of my stomach, indicating towards Fara's wound. I was familiar with the term of the Hundredth Street Church and its reputation. And while some of my sheep were rather smitten, I personally loved to read the sermons out of interest and to burrow the odd snippets. "On to happier topics... say, Reverent, what would you think of visiting your cousins in faith in Kyrenaia? Of course, we would take care of all traveling expenses...

Rev. Stavros

Polish Prussian Commonwealth wrote:Erika followed Fara out onto the patio, and turned to face her.

My father would probably be all over that...He used to be part of a HEMA association before the Revolution of 1992*..."

*Obviously, the year that the Communist government fell and was replaced by the current constitutional monarchy.

Adil Btryrik.
"Oh, less ruling and more sticking their noses into every pile of shit they can find and blowing it out of proportion, usually.", I corrected and shrugged, "Most of the Royalty learned to not listen to it or to reply to it, especially after they insinuated, that a fourteen year old boy was a four-time father, including a pair of twins from his Personal Handmaiden."
I shrugged.
"It might appear to be a problem, but people need something to distract them from where the real power rests.", I spoke and let a beat pass. "That being said, I know this donor and this donor knows you and she believes, that you are exactly what she needs to advance her own agenda. And yes, she has one."
A sort of signal came from the orchestra, heralding the next dance.
I smiled a bit sheepish. "My apologies, Cousin in Christ, but I must excuse myself for a bit.", I said and bowed my head lightly, "I did make a promise and I do intent to keep it... would you mind, if I were to bring Morgane into our discussion afterwards? She might have some useful insights..."
After his reply, I nodded and was off, collecting Morgane and leading her to the dance floor.

Saida Adib
I nodded at his words in Kyrenaian, then motioned for him to sit.
He would remain here until either this Erika-girl or my Princess came back.
I did not like this man, never did. He appeared to me to be a little arsehole, not worthy of the woman that was my Princess. The Gods alone knew, what had driven her to him in the first place and only the two of us knew, what a huge fight we had because of that.
But that was in the past now.
I turned for but a moment to take up a tablet with a tall glass of lemonade on it, turned to offer it to him. I had been ordered by my Princess and I would follow her orders.

Princess Fara bint-Dardan.
I looked at her long and hard, something, which I sometimes did to people, which sometimes unnerved them. I doubted, that it would have that effect on Erika.
"We ran into each other at a Ball, very much like this one.", I replied to her question, "He was very much interested in Kalak, that's my pet Caracal, who I had with me back then..." I giggled. "What a naive little girl I had been back then."
I looked at her.
"A little tip for you for your future as a Princess, just because someone is a good dancer and quite charming at a ball, it does not mean, that he is a good guy in general.", I advised her, "I should have listened to Saida..."

Ida Findehoof.
I nodded.
"I can imagine. They are quite interested in martial arts, these HEMA-guys...", I said and smiled, "My apologies, we get visits from them at our schools once every blue moon. We usually go through the drill manuals for them, so that they have an idea as to how it looked for us and so that they can compare it to how their drill manuals looked." I smiled. "They're usually pretty nice."
Then a sort-of signal heralded the next dance and I smiled, offering my arm to link.
"I believe, that this is the signal?"

Icadias wrote:As everyone was definitely busy socialising with the loads of guests that had arrived, for Catherine and her sister, Juliana, the two were initially forced to cut their arrival time by a large margin, due to several unspecified reasons.

Lykke Blon.
I noticed the late arrivals on my patrol, but I was already on my way back, so the tray was empty. I was not the only Hausmädchen who did so and with a quick nod, I 'reserved' them, so to speak.
A minute later, I approached their table.
My tablet held wine and lemonade, as well as a few snacks, breadsticks mostly.
I moved closer to them, into the view of Queen Catherine, so that she could call me over, if she or her sister decided, that they needed something to snack on.
Then the signal heralded the next dance and people moved towards the dance floor...

Folaisia wrote:Ruairi nodded and hummed at both of their replies.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Dad smiled.
"I can do one better.", he said and took out his smartphone, calling up his image gallery, "My apologies for taking out this device, but I believe, that I better show you an example of what I mean. Here we go!"
He turned it so that all three of us could look at the screen.
On it was an image of a... field of flowers. Really, it was pretty, flowers in all colours of the rainbow on a lush, green field, it seemed so tranquil... if it weren't for the burned out husks of several armoured vehicles in the middle-distance. Almost stumbling between them, a solitary figure of a soldier.
"As long as it helps the soldiers to work out their traumas, I do not care about how artistic a painting is.", Dad explained, "This one here is from a veteran of the Kyrenaian Peacekeeping Mission in the Harblia Civil War, specifically of the times of enforcing and keeping the peace between the different factions. He was a man in an armoured platoon and his column was attacked. He was the only survivor." He let a beat pass. "This one now hangs in the Museum in Motya."
I nodded. I knew the man, he suffered greatly from loosing his bothers and sisters in arms, but otherwise was a nice man.
Then, the signal called for the next dance.
Dad smiled and turned off the smartphone. "Now, I believe, that's the signal for the next dance." He offered his hand to Ruari for a shake. "Mister Buchan, it was a pleasure to meet you. I hope, that we'll meet again someday. Aurelia, watch your feet!"
I grinned and nodded, then offered my arm to the man so that he could lead me to the dancefloor.
"Shall we?", I asked.

Shikonjima wrote:Both Jirou and Shiruko laughed when Heda pumped her first had her proud declaration - the 'well-known' Teressian Space Agency, with its current plans, missions, and discoveries - and if it was only in KSP.

Heda, Prinzessin von Dorch.
"Oh, if someone finds a way, then it is the brave souls of the Space Program of Kerbin, gas planet or not.", I said with a smile, "And if everything else fails, one can always try and have the spacecraft paint a banner into the atmosphere via trails... or debris."
I shrugged at that.
"Not all missions are successful.", I added with a smile, "You don't want to know, how often I crashlanded on Mun in the beginning..."
Then, the next jingle sounded out and called for the Kyrenaian Polka... and Little Heda didn't have a date to dance with. Well, maybe someone would ask me at the last minute, but with a smile, I made way for those, who wanted to go dancing.

Aaltje Schreyg.
Gerulf nodded.
"That would be my Great-Grandfather's, and Alexander's Father's, fault.", he said and smiled with a bit of sadness. "My family always prided itself in the industrial pursuits of mining and business, but in his eyes, Alexander was a childish dreamer at best and you can imagine, how little he liked him. Alexander's Brother Gerulf, my Grandfather, did not hold a much higher opinion, but he did leave Alexander to his natural sciences and traveling, seeing that it was something he enjoyed more then mining."
The man shrugged.
"The opinion stuck with the family, over the many decades since that time, despite the admiration, that the country has for Alexander.", he added and wanted to add something more, but then the jingle sounded out, calling for the Kyrenaian Polka. "Speaking of time, I believe, it is time for the Kyrenaian Polka." He offered his arm for Shiko to link with a bit of gallantry, which made his wife giggle. "Your Majesty, if I may?"
Indeed, the two did want to take the Polka.
I would be taken in a few moments by Bertram, and Rena would be taken by surprise by a young Prince by the name of Vin...

"Well, the wine, the food, the beer and the better company," replied both the prince and his sweetheart the toast. Both clinked glasses and took a sip.
"Well, with the good wine, you can probably see as confirmed," said Lady Mhaire with a cheeky smile. "We Elves also enjoy good wines".
The prince nodded: "We are rather told to be the liqueur nation," he said. "Maybe you know the delicious eggnog of Halsholm".
"Or the 'Lovely Field', a caramel liqueur from the Crystal Realm. This is my favorite. ", The lady added.

Adalrich von Ehrenback.
I nodded. "I indeed heard of them, though I must admit to my utmost shame, that I have never tasted them.", I said, "Their reputation as excellent liqueurs does hurried well ahead of them to these shores." I let a beat pass. "That being said, we have quite the good fruit brandies as well aside from the wine... and people say, that we brew good beer, too, but I could never get behind those."
Then, the signal for the next dance came and I had an idea...
"Your Majesties, this is the signal for the next dance, a Kyrenaian Polka.", I said and looked especially at the Mhaire, "Would it be too bold to ask Your Majesty for this dance?"
Meanwhile, my own wife looked at the Prince, offered her arm for the dance.

"Don't worry, I was far from a perfect dancer at your age, even though Ii had taken a few lessons, replies Agathe with a smile. But I don't doubt you will do your best to impress me."

Imperial Guard Colonel Bradley Myers
"Okay then, replies Myers with a nod. Don't worry, things needed to be cancelled happened to all of us, you can ask Anaximander and Anna how many times they had to cancel things for various reasons.
Anyway, thanks for your explanation Baronin. Concerning the Empire, until the 19th century, the meeting of nobles at the Imperial Capital was usually every six months, given the time to travel in the vast expanses of ur country, which usually took nearly a week and a half to the nobles who leaved the most westerly. But with the devlopment of railways and such, travelling became easier, so during the second half of the 19th century, this went to every three months.
Nowadays, it is still the case, and we also have the Assmbly of the Governors who happen twice a year."

Oh, I would do so, don't worry, my dear doe...
I smiled at her. "Indeed, I know the problem, though I did have my debut with thirteen - the traditional Dance of the Cherries.", I explained, "My date for the night was the daughter of a friend of my Mother, a girl by the name of Alya... if it wouldn't have been for that little cheater Prince Karim appearing with Princess Fara, everyone would have seen her beauty, yet, I am quite glad, that he did... that way, I was the only one to really see her beauty." My smile turned sad. "Sadly, the life of that blossom was cut short by an act of vileness."
I shook my head, telling Agathe to please not ask further questions. It was painful enough to think of her as it was.
The jingle for the Kyrenaian Polka was like the saving bell.
"It appears, that this is our signal.", I said and led her to the dance floor.

Wilrun, Baronin von Port Monee.
"Yes, the transportation problem...", I said with a nod, "The frequency of the Herzöge and Barone coming to Hochheyde rose tremendously with how much those got speedier." I smiled. "Though no one beats my father - he came with a Zeppelin, every time there was such an assembly, until the day he left us, screw all those fancier and newer methods of transport!"
I giggled at that - I had sadly only seen images and I had been at the hall of that Zeppelin, that still existed and was now a museum dedicated to my father, Baron Firmin VI.. I usually took the train, it was merely a few hours of a ride.
Others had it far more complicated.
Then, the signal for the Kyrenaian Polka rang out, making me smile.
"Well, Colonel, it was interesting to meet you and a nice conversation.", I said and made a small curtsy, "I hope we can talk again sometime, maybe even tonight."
And that was the time, when Prince Damir, my next dance partner arrived. He smiled broadly. "Wilrun, hi.", he greeted, then nodded to Myers.
"Damir, hi back!", I replied, "I was afraid, that you had forgotten me... but it appears, that you didn't." I smiled, motioned to the Colonel. "Though if I may introduce, Colonel Myers of the Imperial Guard."
Damir raised a hand. "Thank you, Wilrun, but the Colonel and I are already acquainted.", he said and offered his hand for a shake. "Colonel, I am very sorry, but I must abduct your conversation partner. I do hope, that we can talk again later."
After the exchange of pleasantries had concluded, Damir led me off to the dance...

Rivienland wrote:Prince Philippe

Herzogin Alvina von Raycbucht.
I smiled - I knew, that he meant no disrespect, not only by his assurance, but his question came off to me as one born of curiosity, not of malice.
"Depends on who you ask, but the general consensus is, that it happens sometimes.", I replied, "We have a saying for such a situation: No one knows, where love falls, yet when it lands, it lasts forever." I smiled. "Though, loving is one things, acting on it the other... It was, once, social suicide to act on it, but those times have passed around here. Took a lot of time, believe me."
The signal for the next dance sounded out.
"That would be the Kyrenaian Polka.", I said with a small smile, looking at Philippe. "Do you have prior commitments or would you be free for this dance?"

Rena, Prinzessin von Wißenthen.
Apparently, the sweets worked their magic, Marie almost melting in delight, which made both me and Raik smile. These bonbons were wonderful, after all!
Upon her request, Raik indeed placed the tray back onto the table.
"Tell me, Prince Raik, do you also have a soft spot for sweets?", she asked and I was feeling a bit... jealous, shall we say? She was talking to him with such self-confidence and poise and...
"A bit, I must admit.", he replied politely, "Though its less chocolate, usually and more caramelized fruit."
He wanted to continue, but the signal for the next dance, the Kyrenaian Polka, if I was not mistaken, sounded out.
He smiled. "Well, ladies, if you have prior commitments concerning this dance, please do not allow me to stop you.", he said, bowing his head lightly, "I am free for this one, so..."
YAY!!!
There was still hope, I just needed to gather my courage... easier said then done, though...

Port Ember wrote:Jolene Gudfrey

Marla Cróimiam of the Tribe of Cork.
"And a good evening to you, too, Miss Gudfrey.", I replied and returned the bow, smiling slightly - indeed, it was how we greeted people, and it was nice to see someone from abroad knowing our customs. "I am Marla Cróimiam of the Tribe of Cork, this is Áed Gadhair of the Tribe of Fermanagh."
I had little doubt, that she knew, who we were, just like we knew, who she was before her introduction - still, politeness was important.
"It is a great pleasure to meet you.", Áed said with a smile.
"We represent the Free Lands of the Selkie, though, we would both really appreciate it, if you could call us Marla and Áed.", I added with a smile, not only because I knew, that Port Embrians weren't exactly sticklers for protocol, but because we weren't either. "I did meet Mister Breytenbach during the commissioning of FTS Challenger earlier this year - an interesting man."
I wanted to continue, but the signal for the next dance sounded out and made me stop.
"That sounds like the next dance.", Áed said and smiled, "Before we continue with diplomatic talk, I have a rather easy proposal for you, Miss Gudfrey." He bowed lightly and offered his hand. "Would you grant me the honour of taking this dance with me? Unless you have prior commitments, of course!"

Dowager Empress Agathe Blachkov
"My condolences, replies Agathe with a sad smile, as she understands Khalid's gesture, asking no further questions.
All right young hunter, show me what you got, she continues with a mischevious glint in her eyes as her partner leads her to the dance floor.

Imperial Guard Colonel Bradley Myers

"Well, the Zeppelin is also a valid method of transportation, replies Myers with a small chuckle. I indeed enjoyed meeting you Baronin Wilrun. See you later. Prince Damir, he adds to the Kyrenaian Prince who has approached, shaking his hand. We are indeed acquainted. Have fun you two, finishes Bradley, as the couple and him part ways.
All right, on to find Admiral Naya Findehoof, thinks the Colonel, scanning the crowd with his only eye. After a few seconds, he spots her. Target acquired, he thinks as a small smirk tugs at the corner of his lips, before walking towards the highest ranking soldier in the Principalty.
"Pardon me if I disturb you, Admiral, says Bradley once he has reached her, saluting her militarily, his hand to his forehead. Colonel Bradley Myers, Imperial Guard of the Empire of the Scarlet Eagle. Would you make me the honor of having this dance with me?" he asks with a smile, extending his hand towards her.

Jirou had grinned on Heda's last remark - indeed, kissing Mun was quite a thing in the beginning, when a player was new to the game and still needed to figure out what things worked like.
This, and a firm nod, would be the last opinion Heda would get from Jirou for now - since the next jingle sounded out, announcing the Kyrenaian Polka being played in a few, so it was time to pick a dance partner.
The Shikonjimanese had none, and neither did Heda. Jirou made way as well, until Shiruko spoke to him, in a low tone and in Shikonjimanese language. Jirou nodded, replied something, then turned back to Heda.
"Heda-Hime" - he said, "since this spot on your Dance Card is, quite obviously, not filled yet, I would be greatly honored to fill it! May I ask you for the next dance, Hime-sama?"

Shiruko had nodded. The case was clear - Alexander had been considered the black sheep of his family, so to say, being more interested in traveling, natural sciences, and exploring, rather than digging coal and ores out of the Feuerbergkette and making Thalers with it. And since the Family's line had been continued by Gerulf, Alexander's brother, who had disapproved of his brother's travels all along, his reputation of the childish dreamer had made it into the modern era - despite the admiration for him prevalent all over Teressien and in good chunks of other countries. Gerulf (the present one) was going to change that - or to try, at least.
The jingle sounded out, announcing the Kyrenaian Polka. Shiko had not forgotten, that she indeed was going to take the dance with Gerulf, and linked arms with him, not missing Rena's giggle.
One could see the notorious Shikonjimanese competitiveness shining in Shiko's eyes.

Häkkinen-Couple
A new music sounded, which initiated a new dance. The minister called it Kyrenaian polka. Then Lady Mhaire and the Prince were offered a dance, each from the other partner. The two monarchs looked at each other.
"Partner swap?" Said Lady Mhaire in Finnish. "You know, I'm always behaved," and she gave a cheeky smile.
"Of course," he answered. "If you want it, always".
She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"It would not be too bold, Minister," said Prince Nyyrikki to the politician. "If you promise me that it will be a good dance".
With a smile, he accepted the minister's wife's offer and took her arm.

Erika barely even acknowledged Fara's glare-she may as well have been throwing a glass of beer at a Churchill. Her advice, though, would be filed and cataloged for later on.
"I'll keep that in mind." she replied. "In any case, I assume you're going to break up with him here, correct? If so, do it quickly and without delay. It'll be better in the long run for us all, I hope."
She sighed and kicked her shoes against the ground. "Pap hasn't been fine ever since I broke the news to him 'bout mum. Still, he'll recover...from both this whole business and...that. Hopefully."
After being silent for a few seconds, she decided to change the subject.
"You mentioned something about a pet 'Caracal'? What's that?"

Berengar returned the smile, and linked her arm with his. "Gladly, Lady Findehoof." he replied, leading her to the floor.

Jolene Gudfrey

Jolene was delighted to see the smile form on Marla's face as she greeted the duo - it was clear that she appreciated Jolene's knowledge and respect towards their customs. She continued with a short but sweet conversation, a clear indication that she was in proper company. She spoke of how it was an pleasure to meet her, and that she have met Jan Breytenbach - the Port Emberian Minister of Defence before, and that she have found him to be an interesting sort. She also indicated that she would prefer if Jolene called the duo upon their first names. This pleased Jolene to no small extent, as Port Emberians were not very fond of formalities, as they were a passionate and go-getter people, and considered protocol to be a form of time delaying beaurocracy.

Jolene replied in a sweet and friendly tone, "Really, the pleasure of our introductions are mine, it is an honor to be in such fine company. I am pleased that you have met Minister Breytenbach, I consider Jan to be a dear personal friend of mine. And finally, thank you for dispensing formalities, please call me Jolene in return."[i]

As the signal for the next dance heralded, Áed requested the honor to partner with Jolene, unless she allready had previous offers. She did have offcourse, but she considered that offer completely void, swiftly being remnded of her previous anger. Jolene smiled widely and returned the bowing gesture in kind, [i]"You honor me Áed, and would love to dance with you."
she took his hand in hers, allowing him to guide her to the floor.

Besides the obvious advantage of enjoyment, she hoped that this dance was an oppertunity to impress the Ambassador for diplomatic capital. Jolene was a fine dancer afterall, as her father had send her to dance classes since she was 6, and continued with it for many years. And she knew that the Selkie was a people of song and dance, so this would be a win-win scenario.

The signal of the polka hit his ears, and he gave himself a silent deep breath. Eyeing the Princess after her father left, Ruairi offered his hand in response, grinning and bowed.

"It would be a pleasure, Your Highness," he replied.

There, he guided Aurelia onto the dance floor.

Prince Philippe
“Ah, I see,” the Prince said as he nodded slowly. “Well, it is always said that traditions in Rivienland have slow deaths. Perhaps one days my country will progress past that point.”

Hearing the signal for the next dance, and Alvina’s offer, Philippe could not help but smile. She seemed like a nice girl and, if she spoke the truth, they might be a good pair of dancers.

Bowing before Alvina, the Prince answered, “I am free and would be delighted to dance with you. Though, in fair warning, I have never danced the Kyrenaian Polka, but I am a quick learner,” Philippe said as he winked.

Interlocking hands, the Prince accompanied Alvina to the dance floor. While he was enjoying his time, Philippe hoped Maria was also getting on well.

Princess Maria
“Ah, caramelized fruit can be quite good, but which fruits do you-,” Maria was interrupted as the signal for the next dance was given. Hearing Prince Raik’s offer to dance, the Princess knew this was her moment to strike. While Rena did not say anything, she clearly had hope in her eyes.

Taking a moment to think of an excuse, Maria, praying her idea would work, curtsied before the two, “While I am flattered by the offer, Prince Raik, I am afraid I cannot dance at this time. In fact, now that I think of it, I have not spoken to my brother in quite some time. Perhaps,” Maria placed her hand gently on Rena’s shoulder and moving her forward, “Rena could assist you on the dance floor?”

Not giving a moment for the couple to reconsider the idea, Maria curtsied once more. “Until another time.”

Beginning to walk away, the Princess attempted to, out of Prince Raik’s sight, mouth to Rena, “Find me later.”

Leaving the couple, the Princess had no intention of finding her brother. Passing the refreshment table, Maria snatched a bonbon and threw it into her mouth. The Princess was having quite the time in Teressien and was wondering what other adventures the night would hold.

When the signal for the next dance echoed all around, Catherine was caught by surprise.Though a small feeling of anxiety leaped into her thoughts, she turned quick for a solution. In a split second, her face met her little sister's who had seemingly stopped drinking for a moment."My little sissy Rosey, I know this is weird but do you want to dance?Sisters only", blurted her.Expectantly, Juliana was taken by surprise too from those words, blinking her eyes a few times as a result. After peering over her sister's shoulders, seeing that most of the guests had started dancing aswell, she quickly accepted the offer.

As they both stood up, the crown princess spontaneously jumped and hugged her older sister tightly, "You're the best sissy I ever had!".After the two sisters relaxed, Catherine took note of an attendant standing nearby and flashed a warm smile towards the latter while her lips demanded for two drinks of martinis for future purposes.Soon after, with her expertise in dancing, she tenderly brought her sister along to the middle in a gliding motion, the former clearly impressed.Clearly, she showed a bit of worry towards her "sissy" for unlike her, she wasn't skilled as her older sister's.Nevertheless, as to avoid any disappointment, she mirrored her sister's position with one hand circulating her waist with the other on the opposite shoulder.Personally, for the crown princess, it would be an extremely sweet memory that she could later share with her siblings, especially her beloved older sister, Catherine.
