As they approached they approached the dais, both Princes gingerly doffed their black silk top hats to the new Duke and Duchess, and genuflected before, Graham on his left knee and Robert on his right. The right leg is for Mass, stupid! The elder cousin thought reproachfully, but let the little blasphemy go by unremarked. It was unlikely anyone would notice, and at any rate it was too late to correct. The Ministry had not provided any information to Graham as to what the customary greeting was for Kuronamian nobility, so Graham had suggested genuflection. It was ancient, polite, and seemed to have been fairly common, historically. At the very least it probably wouldn't offend anyone.
"Hail, my Lord and Lady." Graham intoned solemnly, still on his knee. "I am Prince Benedict Graham Biscos-Hamor, Lord of Dauventroy, and this is my cousin, Crown Prince Robert Francis Biscos-Hamor."
He paused briefly, rising to his feet, and ushering for his kinsman to do the same. He then continued with his memorized spiel.
"We come in goodwill from our sovereign, King Alexander the Third of Anatidor. He offers his regrets that he could not attend personally, and this."
Graham hefted the heavy wooden case up gently, and held it out for his hosts to take.
"In this box is an exact copy of the famed Hours of King Thomas, a medieval book of hours that has been a treasure of the Crown for over six centuries. I am told the monks who copied it even had trouble telling it from the original. Take it as a token of our King's esteem."
