Lena De La Reina - "Haunting"
Trigramme: TDX
Language: English
Music: Lena De La Reina
Lyrics: L. Reina
Tune: Lana Del Rey - Young and Beautiful
The stage is covered in a low cloud of smoke, starting pitch black, a pillar of light appears on the LED screen as Lena walks down from the back of the stage. The camera focusing on her face and upper body as she sings the first verse.
I’ve lived my life,
Got it all,
Presents of gold now,
Precious gems, magnificent,
And dazzling me now.
Cold winter days, large foyers,
With you and I drive around the bay,
The stolen dreams, city gleams,
Unsure of whether we’d even stay.
As the chorus begins the layered silhouettes of an orchestra and it's conductor appears on the LED and starts to play backed by bright white light emanating from the same pillar.
Will you stand with me,
When the troubles are large and daunting,
Will you stand with me,
When all the words are rude and taunting,
I hope you can,
I hope you can,
I hope that you can.
Will you stand with me when everything is haunting.
In the second verse, the pillar dims somewhat and the coloured orbs, seemingly like gemstones, appear on some of the silhouettes in time with the music, where about the persons chest pocket would be.
I’ve lived my life,
Toss a coin,
Take a chance now,
Channelling movie stars on first glance now.
Long summer days, burning sun,
And all the cares, we had none,
And I would think, you’re the one,
Your touch made my heart weigh a tonne.
Going into the chorus, the pillar brightens again, revealing more larger yet dimmer and more "distant" feeling silhouettes of orchestra players. With the camera panning between them, Lena and wide shots from the audience.
Will you stand with me,
When the troubles are large and daunting,
Will you stand with me,
When all the words are rude and taunting,
I hope you can,
I hope you can,
I hope that you can.
Will you stand with me when everything is haunting.
In the bridge, the pillar turns a deep red colour, causing the smoke to have a red hue, with this, a sole bright spotlight falls onto Lena from across the arena, and she sings up to it.
Dear Lord, when I leave this plane,
Please let him be safe,
And if he happens to leave before me,
Please allow me no chafe.
Oh his wonder, oh his love,
Oh this grace from up above,
He’s my time, he makes me move forever onwards.
Into the chorus, the pillar of light turns white again, but the light behind the rows of silhouettes stays a fuzzy red. Rows of lights also span out into the audience. As the music fades out, the colour starts to drain from the LED and the lights dim with the camera solely focusing on Lena herself, who delivers the last lines looking straight into the camera, and closes her eyes for the last words.
Will you stand with me,
When the troubles we face are large and daunting,
Will you stand with me,
When all the words are rude and taunting,
I hope you can,
I hope you can,
I hope that you can.
Will you stand with me when everything is haunting.
Will you stand with me when everything is haunting.
Will you stand with me when the troubles are large and daunting.
Lena thanks the audience for their hospitality, holding her palm to her chest, she then waves and makes her exit.
