WELCOME TO THE 47TH WORLD HIT FESTIVAL

Kyvivre, Britonisea

BIDS FOR JWHF6 - DRAFT THREAD - IC THREAD

Welcome to Britonisea!

Britonisea has won their fourth World Hit Festival last edition with the song "Dangerously in Love" which was sung by Doportedas-born Vhe Qi who won with 28 points, just one ahead of the hosts of the competition, Izmedu. For the fifth time, Britonisea will be hosting the World Hit Festival and this time we will be returning to Kyvivre for the first time in 20 editions to celebrate Britonish culture once again but also to celebrate the cultures of all participating nations and find our next World Hit Festival winner!

As we said in WHF43, we are excited to bring to you a truly Britonish World Hit Festival with exceptionally high production and ease to make sure that it is a great show for both the delegations and fans of the World Hit Festival.

Fabio McAlpine
World Hit Festival Overseer

What is the World Hit Festival?
The World Hit Festival (WHF) is a multiversal song competition. Each nation shall enter 1 song and 1 artist, and it shall be 'performed' via roleplay. Most nations tend to use a real-life tune as a musical backing, but every entry submitted to the World Hit Festival is required to have original lyrics (ie. if you submit a tune, you must re-write the lyrics), so this does mean that instrumental entries are blocked from entering the contest.

WHF operates with three threads, the OOC, Draft, and IC threads. The one you are seeing now is the OOC/Sign-ups thread, the main place for you to discuss the contest, reveal your entrant, etc. All OOC chatter goes here. The Draft Thread, opened by the host, is the second thread opened up during a WHF contest, and this draft thread is where nations will post and work on their entries until a deadline determined by the host. The IC thread, also opened by the host is the third and final thread attached to a WHF, and it is where the host will transfer your entries.

The World Hit Festival has had a very long history in NationStates, and a thread by the second overseer (Euskirribakondara) has been created to compile this long history. Click here for a thread with links to every OOC and IC thread of all World Hit Festivals so far. Click this for a statistical database of all WHF participants. For winners, click here to see a full list of all WHF winners with links to their entries.

For WHF veterans, this sign-up form will look very familiar as it is the same sign-up form for the past 15 editions. However, for debutantes, I have provided a sample application using WHF32's winning entry in a spoiler, with explanations in brackets.

Nation: Euskirribakondara (name of your nation goes here)
Broadcaster: EUSK1 (name of your broadcaster goes here, and this is usually your national broadcaster that would broadcast the WHF. For a real life comparison, think of the BBC in the UK.)

Song Title: "По, Дај Ми Любавте" (name of your song)
Artist: Nadija Djokanović (the name of the artist that will 'perform' the song in your roleplay.)
Language(s): Sirbadian, Euskal, Hinga (the language(s) that your lyrics will be performed in)
Title Transcription (if required): "Po, Daj Mi Ljubavte" (if your song's language utilizes another script such as Cyrillic, you would put the romanization of that title here. In this example, По, Дај Ми Любавте is Po, Daj Mi Ljubavte. Otherwise, this part can be omitted.)
Title Translation (if required): Come On, Give Me Your Love (the translation of your song's title to English. If your song is in English already, this part can also be omitted.)
Tune: Here (most WHF tunes will have tunes attached to them, such as this entry using Poli Genova's If Love Was a Crime. If you are using a tune, do provide a link of the tune in this form. However, there are cases in which users do not submit a tune and use self-penned songs, in which case, filling out this part is not required.)

Pick a number that's available HERE: Pick a number between 1-30 (subject to change) if it hasn't already been taken!

Your Trigramme: You three letter national code that will be used during the broadcast of the 47th World Hit Festival. In case of a dispute, nations registered on the NS list of trigrammes will take priority before a "first come, first serve" rule.

Interesting Fact about Act: (Optional) If you would like to provide interesting facts about your artist, it would go a long way in trying to help me piece together some RP during the competition. Expect that, if this is filled out, I will contact you via DM/Discord to ask a question to your artist a question or two. This will form part of the breaks between entries/interval acts.

Head of Delegation: (The Head of Delegation is the person who is in charge of your delegation at the 47th World Hit Festival. If you have already provided information about this, you do not have to fill this part of the form out)

Rules and Procedures
Contest
  1. A nation is allowed to submit 2 puppets maximum to the contest, meaning that a user can be controlling at most 3 nations in the contest.
  2. Nations must send a full ranking of all nations on the IC Thread to the host of the competition when the voting opens.
  3. The nation ranked first will receive 5 points, the nation ranked second will receive 4 points etc. Nations ranked 6th or below will not receive any points.
  4. Users are allowed to receive 8 points maximum from their puppets. Meaning, a user with three nations can use Nation B and C (with B and C giving 4 points each) to give Nation A 8 points total, but nothing more.
  5. A nation is also expected to vote, but there is no penalty for not voting. The host will make up your votes in the event that they do not have your votes.
  6. All or at least most of the written lyrics must be original. Should any user spot any concerns, don't hesitate to let the overseer or current host know.
  7. In order for Semi Finals to be initiated, there must be enough nations for there to be 14 nations per Semi Final. The number of participants before Semi Finals are initiated will be dependent on circumstances.
  8. In the unlikely event of there being 40 or more complete entries, the top 5 from last edition (including the host) will qualify automatically to the Grand Final.
  9. The maximum amount of nations that can participate at any World Hit Festival is 47 (including the host).
Hosting
  1. The winner of the competition will automatically be given the right to host the competition. The winner will have 72 hours (maximum) to announce their interest in hosting the Festival to the Overseer.
  2. The host must not reveal their acceptance of hosting until the Overseer has announced it on the WHF Network.
  3. If within the first 72 hours, the host either doesn't announce their interest of hosting the proceeding contest or declines hosting rights, the nation who came 2nd will be asked. If declined five times, the World Hit Overseer has to host the World Hit Festival.
  4. If the host abandons their host duties, the World Hit Overseer will be responsible for what left needs to be done.
  5. We would like to ensure all World Hit Festival hosts can host the competition to the best of their ability. If you have any concerns about hosting if given the opportunity to, don't hesitate to speak to the World Hit Overseer.

Host Information: World Hit Festival 47

HOST INFORMATION: WORLD HIT FESTIVAL 47 IN KYVIVRE, BRITONISEA

Welcome to Britonisea! This will be the fifth time that Britonisea will have hosted the World Hit Festival after having previously done so at the 27th World Hit Festival, 35th World Hit Festival (Junterapten), 38th World Hit Festival (Doportedas) and most recently at the 43rd World Hit Festival (Burgendore). For the first time ever, a Britonish city has been selected for the second time to host the Festival. Kyvivre, the city that hosted the 27th edition of World Hit Festival), will host the 47th World Hit Festival after 20 editions since Britonisea's first hosting in the same arena we will be going to for WHF47. Vhe Qi's win in Polumisec, Izmedu has given BVC another chance at hosting the World Hit Festival in superb fashion, while also giving the Multiverse another viewing of a truly Britonish production. Below, you will be able to find out more information about the 47th World Hit Festival including the city that we will be heading to.

Copied from the Kyvian WV51 Bid;
Kyvivre is a bright city on the mainland of Britonisea, and even though it struggles to maintain superiority – being in the middle of Estogium’s border and the capital city, Doportedas – the city shines through when it comes to showing everyone the epitome of Britonish culture, and how this culture can be explored in a futuristic environment. Kyvivre is a unique city which shows that regardless of the digital age, and how fast the world is moving, culture can still adapt and thrive in an ever-changing environment. Over the last 20 years, Kyvivre and the Kyvian* population has seen major changes to the city’s skyline, and like Junterapten and Knightinghamshire, Kyvivre was one, and still is one of the targeted cities to turn in to a neo-future based city. Our idea of neo-futurism isn’t going taller and out-there, but neo-futurism shows our changing desire and style within Britonish borders, and how our unusual taste can be shown to the fullest. Kyvivre has gone through vast improvements to transportation, the infrastructure and most importantly, and the living conditions. The city boasts a marvellous transportation system, design to fit our quirky taste, our building designs and our newly built, greenhouses – and not as in the colour.

Kyvivre has been commended for it’s push for the country’s switch from fossil fuel use (Coal, Oil, Gas) to permanent, sustainable, renewable energy use (Wind, Solar, Water), while also opting to use battery-powered vehicles instead of using oil. When we use our small percentage of fossil fuels, we try our hardest to stick to cleaner ways of using them. For example, we wouldn’t extract oil from the earth, but instead, extract oil from plants. This is known as using biofuels and we plant 2 seeds for every flower used.

Image

In Arenakyvivre, you could fit around 21,000 spectators in there which means that we will have a packed and filled audience for the Festival. We hope that this will create a fantastic atmosphere and will appear great on the television too. Arenakyvivre will have large floor space where we can fit as many fans in as possible, with very high one tier seating which will stretch around the whole of the arena. We are looking forward to seeing the thousands that will fit into Arenakyvivre. Below, you can find information regarding the stage and what will happen inside of the Arenakyvivre.

When it comes to the World Hit Festival, the Britonish are known for having huge stages. With the 47th World Hit Festival, we wanted to create a huge stage for viewers across the Multiverse to enjoy - with there being a huge LED wall (52 metres width, 9m high) which will be mounted at the back and stretch from one side of the arena to the other. We don't want nations to feel as though they have to use all of the wall or it at all - we have other things in place to make sure that your performance can stick out from the rest. Feel free to look at the images below spoilered and more information.

Image
Picture 1: A closer image of what an Izmeduan performance might look like. This shows that we can still keep it intimate if broadcasters want us to do that.

Image
Picture 2: A further away image of the stage. As you can see, the LED wall goes from one end to the other end of the arena.

Image
Picture 3: A picture of The Grid. Here, in Todlichebujoku's performance, they are using the LED lights to emerse the audience into the performance.

Image
Picture 4: Here is a picture of Togonistan's performance and they've also used the Grid. They have pyros coming from the top...

Now, what I could do is lie to you about everything, however, I am just going to quote things from the official makers (OOC but let's pretend it's IC) of the stage that we will have at the 47th World Hit Festival. robe.cz
The stage: Nearly 300 Robe moving lights - 80 x MegaPointes, 166 x Spikies and 52 x LEDBeam 150s.

Moving back onstage at the RAI gig … a 52-metre-wide by 9-metre-high LED wall defined the stage area and in front of this each side were structures providing three vertical strips of positions for the Spikies, repeating the form of the ‘plus’ video sculpture.

Above and below the main section of this video wall were 10 x MegaPointes and 10 x strobes for silhouetting and accentuating the depth of the performance area. The balance of MegaPointes were rigged on three concentric arc trusses above the stage.

Out in the house, the LEDBeam 150s were located between each of the LED / MegaPointe / Cyberhoist pods. They provided additional effects, fabulous beams, more crowd interaction and effectively lit the audience for an upcoming You Tube stream.

As well as the Robe fixtures, the design featured 76 x LED strobes, 100 x 1-lite blinders and 21 x 4-lite blinders, all supplied to the show by lighting vendor Focus / RentAll.

Above the audience, there will be a large grid of lights and pyro effects, you can find the information here - robe.cz
The grid of MegaPointe / LED pods above the crowd was created utilizing 30 of the Robe MegaPointes each rigged on an individual Cyberhoist motor for up / down movement.

The ‘top’ of each hoist pod was clad in a 3x3 metre square of 3.9MM LED screen with a gap in the centre for the aluminium tube. The home position was 10 metres above the floor which was as much headroom as they could squeeze out of the RAI.

The only difference is that...there isn't a large plus in the middle of the stage!

09 Antahbrantahstan: Nations will get this right before their performance, similar to in WHF43.

Image
We aim to make the production of the 47th World Hit Festival the best yet, incorporating the best ideas from Britonisea's four other hostings and merging them into one, into a package that we think is more than capable of becoming the best World Hit Festival yet! From the hosts to the postcards, to the interval acts that will be having, we are there to make sure that the 47th World Hit Festival will be truly unforgettable. Speaking about the postcards for the show, for the 47th World Hit Festival, we will be bringing back the idea of the written postcards that Euskirribakondara bought to the table when he hosted the World Hit Festival 32. As a host it involves a lot of RPing, however, the results are great and provides a more realistic and enjoyable experience to the World Hit Festival. The 47th World Hit Festival's postcards will start with someone appearing in front of the camera in a certain location which will be picked out by each of the participating broadcasters. The acts that are participating then will go on to participate in the events that they chose, with these events happening all around the nation showing the true diversity of Britonish culture. At the end of the postcard, the nation's name will be displayed in an area similar to the postcards for the WHF35. Similarly to the last time, there will be Postcard music which will "play" over what is happening.

Image

Kelli Brooke will serve as the main host for the World Hit Festival along with Zorsia McIntyre. Both females are known in Britonisea for being professional actresses on television. With their experience in television and on stage in front of thousands of guests, BVC thought this group of hosts would be perfect for BVC's third international television singing show in the Britonish cultural capital, Kyvivre. Diane Lewis-Stephens will be hosting from the Greenroom, interacting with the acts of the 47th World Hit Festival - asking them questions and also providing insight and facts into their lives. We have decided to have three women hosting the competition for reasons you will see later but also, we haven't had three women hosting the competition in any one of Britonisea's previous hostings.

Image

As you can see from above, this will be the design for the scoreboard for the 47th World Hit Festival. We understand that in the midst of the WorldVision Song Contest and the upcoming (and exciting) Junior World Hit Festival, the number of nations may not rise from the edition before. However, we are hoping that around 18 nations participate in the upcoming World Hit Festival and hopefully, the host information you have just read will make more broadcasters interested in participating at the 47th World Hit Festival. The design will be different from Britonisea's recent hostings (35, 38, 43), with us going for a cleaner design (each nation won't have a clunky box with the design being more akin to the 45th World Hit Festival). Another difference is that you will be able to tell where you are placed by looking at your placing which will always be on the screen. This means that you can see that the nation, FROMULYA is 9th place instead of counting down the list to nine. The only time you will not be able to tell where you are placed is when you (or if you) receive five points from a nation. As you can see above, NORMANDY AND PICARDY received 5 points from Britonisea and therefore they have a 5 next to their name and they have been highlighted in gold. The different colour will make it easy for people to recognise who received the 5 points as well.

In addition to this, you will see that the nation who is currently voting is placed under the spokesperson's picture. As you can see here, BRITONISEA is voting here. The name, which will be a requirement when voting, is placed under the nation voting. You can see that the man in the picture (who will be Britonisea's spokesperson for the 47th World Hit Festival) is named Markus Aaronson and he is LIVE from Kyvvire. We will also be asking for the city you are calling from. On the left-hand side on the bottom, you can see what number the nation is voting at and what phase it is.

As you can probably tell, the phases are back this edition and for now, it'll be a normal 4-1 and then 5 points system. If we get 15 or below nations, this should happen over 5 or fewer days as I would like the voting segment to have high intensity but this will be confirmed nearer the date. Depending on the results, I might change how the votes are presented, but this will be revealed nearer to the date as well.

We look forward to inviting you to the World Hit Festival in Kyvivre for the first time in 20 editions, we hope that many nations participate because we would love to have you all!

Kalosia confirms.

We invite everyone to vote in this short national final that only has 2 songs. I was thinking of closing it maybe on the 14th or 15th. Once we have a winner, then I will officially submit the form.

Also pre-confirming Fromulya and Skanden.

Nightom takes 17.

Reminder to check both the list for numbers + any nations that come after the updates before picking your number. Looking forward to doing the written postcards - tell your friends to sign up.

Also 15 days left to post a bid for the Junior World Hit Festival. It's gonna be a big one and will look great on your hosting CV!

The Draft Thread will be up in around, well, less than 48 hours from now for two weeks :-)
