I grinned, happy that they were coming along.
Oh, who am I kidding? I was glad, that Hiro came along. The girl, especially after the scrutiny given to her by the Major, was completely irrelevant to me. Others would take care of that problem.
Still, both Nora and her Mam were happy, the girl taking her Mam's hand and running ahead, dragging her along.
"Wait for us!", I called after them, knowing, that Nora could not wait to introduce her Mother to the others of our crew. We all knew, where we would go for our tea: The Cistanraith, one of the restaurants here in the Dorm Complex, with the best tea.
Still, I smiled, looked to Hiro. "Indeed, tea is wonderful.", I said and offered my arm for him to link, "Always good to have a cuppa while you learn for a test. It puts things into perspective."

"Ah yeah, that much is true." Hiro agreed. "After training, tea was always something to look forward to as a way to ease the days workout on us! You are a girl who knows her tea it would seem."

Himeko was holding back her giggling, not for Hiro being disingenuous, he was very much telling the truth but the other girl had taken a real shine to him. Something she'd talk to him later. Himeko wasn't a jealous or possessive type, if things didn't work out between them, it didn't work out, plain and simple, but for now he was hers so might as well make sure of that and she injected herself into the conversation. "Tea is a wonderful thing to make a habit of, wouldn't you also agree? You must know the feeling of watching rain fall and drinking a nice cup?"

Lillorainen wrote:It was a short walk, the Lillos just making sure not to accidentally run into Nora's axe, but otherwise not particularly minding the enormous, pointy thingy any further.
Of course, the fifteen girls forming the Puisíni were not entirely unknown to them, quite on the contrary. They were also aware, that not all of them were likely to seek a career at the SDF after graduation, just like not all of the Li'l Snails were likely to join the FAF after graduation.
Fiona called for attention in her mother tongue - the disciplined girls had formed up in front of the Faolchús and Crogalls at once, now making space for Caja and the folks representing the Federation at their shared passion for now.
As Jana and Arvid were addressed, Sandra, Britta, and Jette remained in the background, for they knew, that this was an occasion as formal as a formal occasion was just expected to be. Something in their heads also told them, that the tree sapling Alaina was carrying must have had a very particular meaning - and they would learn in a few seconds how right their intuition was.
The Commander and the Cadet bowed their heads and saluted back.
It was clearly visible, that Fiona was well prepared for this moment - everything was right, even her pronunciation of Arvid's and Jette's last name, which surely wasn't exactly easy to manage for foreigners ('Damgaard' roughly sounded like 'damn gore', first syllable stressed). Jana had to grin at the reference to the friendly rivalry - so did Britta, who was well aware, that the team she was about founding would be another friendly rival of the Schneckjes.
Jana bowed her head again, as the Accountant handed the indeed meaningful sapling to her. "Go raibh míle maith agaibh!" - she thanked them in formal Selkie-Language. "Indeed, may the tree grow large! Of course, the friendship between the Free Lands and the Federation cannot be reiterated enough times, like, hopefully, the one between our schools - and as we all know, a good friendship goes two ways."
Holding the sapling in one hand, she used the other one to get a coin out, seemingly out of nowhere, similar to a magician. It was a silver coin, of the size of a Gil coin - but instead of the Bratach, it showed a gate, namely, the Ahlweiler Gate, which nowadays separated the two Pontrath city districts of Lademünd and Frierscheid, which had each formed their own cities prior to their incorporation into Greater Pontrath, and both members of the Storöer-Städtebund. While north of this gate, most business had been conducted using the Nienhaguian Guilder, south of it, these silver coins, the Pontrath City-Krona had been the dominating currency money. This coin had a value of 12 Kronor; below the gate, the year 1697, the year of minting, and the city's authority of coinage were indicated in Younger Futhark, a Germanic runic script. Due to its widespread use, there were hundreds of thousands of this sort in circulation, not only in museums - of course, they were still valuable nonetheless.
Jana handed it to Fiona, bowing her head yet another time.
"This silver coin from our homeland, a value of 12 Pontrath Kronor, from 1697, shall hereby be our token of friendship!" - she said. "And a symbol as well as a friendly reminder of our shared passion for things washed ashore."

Caja Storholm of the Tribe of Tipperary.
As the gifts were exchanged, the entire ceremony went with high amounts of dignity and formality, as appropriate for what would soon be a military officer. Fiona was on the fast track to that occupational choice.
The reply from the Lillos was not any less dignified, although Jana's joke about things washed ashore fell a bit flat with Fiona. Some in the crowd snorted with amusement, though, so not all was lost.
In any case, once Fiona packed away the coin, it would find its place of honour, she bowed her head again, this time a sign of gratitude.
As she rose again, she still wore a mask of professional neutrality, but her eyes shone.
"Commander, Cadet, you would honour us greatly, if you were to inspect the formation.", she offered.

I grinned at Mikela and took my smartphone out.
"Gimme a moment!", I requested and sent a quick message to Doireann. That done, I put my phone back into my pocket. "She should be here in a minute."
I let a beat pass.
"So, Räv... do you know much about tanks already? Or are you a newbie like me?", I asked with a smile, leaning back a bit, smiling at the excited boy."

"I've read some books and papa's told me some things but I don't know much. So maybe I'll get to know more things while I'm here. And mama too!"

"Hehehe my my, military tech is not my specialty that's why I was only a legislator and not a Military Commander. But I'll be happy to learn along with you, Räv. "

"Thanks.", Marla said, exhaled, "Though, one correction: It's Squadron, not squad. As in the sub-unit of a regiment." She shrugged. "Others might call it a battalion."
At that moment, the tea came, herbal tea made from a blend of hibiscus, citrus peel, dandelion and lemongrass - rich in a lot of useful things to wake up and to help with beauty. Marla, at the end of the day, was just a woman, too.
"Hundreds of souls, who I led into battle and who depend on me as their commanding officer.", she added, then sighed, lifting her cup as if for a toast. "On our men. May the Gods protect them even without us being there!"

"Oh, squadron," She corrected herself, "Of course, my mistake. You can probably tell I did my time as a clergy instead. Oh that is, all islanders have to conscript to a term of military or clergy service. Given my elder sister and mother are both Priestesses I felt that'd be the best place for me for that time. But long term as my career choice, I take after my father more and have a love of being on the ocean. Wild as it can be." She rose her cup in exchange bowing her head "For your Gods and my Goddesses may they bless us both and those who serve under us with good fortune."

Enya Cíochach of the Tribe of Navan. A bench on the Plaza.
I smiled and wanted to reply as, suddenly, two arms slung around me from behind.
They belonged to a tall woman with long, light blue hair, which fluttered freely in the light breeze, and shining green eyes. She had a built appropriate for a model, with long legs and a figure to match. However, what one only caught at a second, closer glance, was, that she had strong arms and legs, as well as a bit of shyness in her eyes.
She knew me, though, so she was open in front of Räv and his Mam.
Like me, she wore our school uniform.
"I'll be happy to teach all three of you a bit...", the young woman said, smiling especially at Räv. We knew, that he most likely didn't have an eye for beautiful women yet, he maybe still thought we had cooties or something, but that would not stop us from being us. "...just like I taught this cub a few things."
"Hi, Doireann.", I said, looking up and grinning. Then I turned to Räv and his Mam. "That's the fried I talked about, Doireann." To her, I said: "Those are Räv and his Mam - they're interested in the tanks."
Doireann smiled softly. "Then you certainly came to the right place!", she said and offered her hand to the boy. "I'm a loader on one of our Crogalls."

The Printíseach.
Marla nodded, took a sip.
"My Dad is a carpenter. My Mam's a carpenter's daughter. My brothers became carpenters...", she said and shrugged, "...my little sis married a stonecutter." She let a beat pass. "I'm sort-of the black sheep of the family, to be honest. Not in the sense that I don't have contact to the rest, mind you, I still get the invitations to family festivals and I still come, but I didn't go into the family business."

Hiro felt a rather tense spark streaking down his spine right about now. It would seem Himeko was doing her best to be friendly even if she wanted to keep a firm grip on him, rather unusual given her usual quiet reflecitve nature. The other young lady certainly had her eyes on him, he had to admit she was a cute little lady, circumstances be different she and him could be a couple even. But for now...

"Very nice days." He agreed "A day of marching or sentry patrol in winter back home, finsihing with a hot cup is the best. Surely you'd agree to that, Himeko."

"Mmm suppose that I wouldn't know...." There's no way Himeko could pass off as a working girl who would toil in the fields or in a mill or anywhere, thus she didn't try to put on the persona beyond that of a likely affluent girl which is probably all they knew about her, probably....

"Himeko might not look like it, but she knows her way around a kettle."

"Hmph." Himeko also nudge herself close to Hiro taking his hand and linking up her arm around his. "So, Lesley." Hiro continued "I've heard many a Selkie person takes a wolf as a companion. Doesn't sound like I'm wrong based on what you just told me about cuddling with a grey wolf. What's that like, raising one? I've only had traditional domesticated dogs so I must plea ignorance. I bowed my head lightly and politely at Victoria's introduction, her compliment of my accent making me smile - she would meet many more people with similar accents around these parts.
Still, I winced at the large machine to our side having trouble with the steering, which was always bad... my heart went out to the magnificent machine.
Still, when Victoria asked, what I wanted to know about her school, I shook my head. "Actually, I came here for one of your tanks.", I said and pointed at the Crusader, "He looks remarkably similar to a vehicle employed by the Lutetiians. A nation, not too far away from here. Theirs were called the Fulmine Cavalry Tank, the most likely opponent to our Dobhareach-ATVs and their Gabha G-18 47mm Anti-Tank Guns."
I smiled at Victoria.
"They never met on a battlefield, though, except for Sensha-Do.", I added.

Victoria stroked her chin as she pondered a brief moment, “They’re one of the Italian-like nations, right? If that’s the case it might make sense that it and the crusader shared similar designs, since Italy was trying to mimic British tanks to catch up with them.”

She looked back towards the crusader. “Figures you’d like her though. Anybody would like a tank with speed, with 26 miles per hour off road, 15 miles off road, she’s pretty fleet-footed. The only weakness she has though is that she can get constant engine trouble if we’re not careful with our speed.”

She looked back at Nolly, “All in all, we found her to be a good tank. Jane seems to have a lot of fun with them, charging into battles like a rag muffin. She claims she likes being up close and personal.”

She looked around before she leaned close to Nolly, “She even for carries around a dulled cavalry sabre to pull out for all out charges and flanking maneuvers.” She shook her head, “I swear, for being the captain of the light tank group, she doesn’t act like one, nor does she follow our standards of tact and grace.”

The Selkie wrote:Asteria Vena. With Melissa and Alyssa.
Oh, Great Guardian, safe me...
"I'm Asteria Vena...", I brought out during introductions, briefly wondering about the numbering, but then again, to each their own. I listened to Melissa's words carefully and nodded in the end. "Yes, Toirneach Motor Gun Carriage employs a Field Gun, 155mm, Model 1940 to lob shells over 30 kilometres and more at the enemy. We only have five shells aboard, but we have an ammunition vehicle, which carries forty more shells for us and our partner. We found out, that the gun carriages might face some difficulties in close quarters, but the larger the field, the better they perform."
I smiled softly.
"Even if they only lay smoke cover, their fire is invaluable.", I added, "Our two gun carriages are known as Starrcailann-Aon and Dó. The Starrcailann is an animal at home deep in the Great Woods, known for their ferocity and territorial behaviour, but also for their massive roars."
I became more sure of myself, firmer in my language in the moment I could talk about the Toirneach, not about me. It was... quite interesting.

“I could see why close quarters could be quite difficult, generally it might be relatively unwise to dedicate a separate vehicle for ammo, open as an easy target for the opposition to take advantage of.” Melissa said analytically, “The common saying goes, don’t put all of your eggs in one basket.” She looked back at the gun carriage, “As for the naming, it’s quite adequate, it does indeed look ferocious and territorial.” She looked back at Asteria with a polite smile, “I’ll have to take your word on the size of their roar though.”

Alyssa stood to the side as she paid close attention to Asteria. She found it quite inspiring for her to find her footing and to start to feel more comfortable around them. However, her eyes began to wander though, as she took stock of the details of their friend, both in body language and in... other aspects with a blush.

The Selkie wrote:Food.
The chips were, what Jane would call crisps and they were from potatoes grown in the area, deeply imbued with the taste and smell of the Mór-Land. Cooks all over the Free Lands regarded them as some of the best available.
Luckily, the staff of the stalls was plenty and professional, not taking too long with every customer as the 'assault' on the food stalls began, but still very polite. While it did take a bit, the line moved forward.
Shortly before she was up front to order, though, the young man behind Jane bumped into her.
"Sorry, Miss!", the young man, barely not a boy anymore, as were his two companions, said. His brown eyes really looked apologetic as they looked at Jane from under red hair. "We miscalculated somethin'!"

Jane stumbled forward, though she was starting to fall over, she quickly regained balance and turn around. Being tired, and hungry, made for a bad combination, and now her lower class roots began to become noticeable as she had a clear fire in her eyes, fists clenched she yelled back, “Damn roite ya did ya feckin’ belland! Watch where ya fuckin’ goin’ or yar in fer a ‘ard time!”

Thankfully she didn’t get her food to spill yet, but they still caught her in a bad mood. And... possibly to later Melissa and Jane’s chagrin, she was making an unnecessary scene and was quite possibly giving the team itself a bad name.

Sensha-Do, an strange but interesting thing to be honest. Nothing out of normal in some places, but in Mervay??? It would be strange to see some boys and girls being in those kinds of battle's with WW2 tanks!! Maybe it would end up with the army having to intervine because of such situation and considering the use of even if it is obsolete, military equipment.

"Could you believe that this thing could be banned in home because of the safety concerns???" someone asked, it was an... Girl. Blonde, dark blue eyes like the most pure ocean or sea, dressed with an outfit which resembles an school uniform, well it was an school uniform, her school uniform.

The girl that needed to answer was her friend and partner, three years old than her, black haired and with red or ruby eyes and the same uniform than her, but she wasn't an student of that school anymore.
She thought about what her partner told her and it kinda made sense, Sensha-Do was becoming quite popular on Mervay but there were concerns of the safety of the sport and how would affect on the environment. Well that included the economic reactions, how will they be able to keep the sport when we are talking about using WW2 tanks. But hopefully an solution comes because if not then either the people wanting to take part has to go to foreign lands where they allow it or just straight out try and pass over the law.

"Maybe yes, but I know well that as soon as they approve the Sensha-Do as an leisure sport I can bet that many goverment officials and others which will be part of the federation for the sport, you know like the FIA" the girl in question answered, her name was Antonella, the older friend of the blonde girl, Alice.

She thought of what her friend told her and it kinda made sense, but still surely if they see the sport in Mervay will be as an test match at first to see the success and surely how it can improve as such.

"I guess your right, still we should see how it goes" Alice answered smiling as they kept walking. They were prepared for go to somewhere and enjoy their time together here. "Hey do you think we might get the chance to see an match here today???" she asked thoughtful.

Meanwhile Antonella grinned as she looked at her friend.

"Maybe... We will have to find and wait!!"

I giggled. Well, my Grey Wolf had survived a whole lot longer!
And Himeko was trying. She honestly was. But... let's see, if she was successful in her tries to keep him.
"Indeed, many do, especially in the more rural areas.", I said with a shine in my eyes, "I am originally from Wadebridge, at the Northern edge of the Silver Mountains, so one can hardly get more rural around these parts. In any case..." I smiled, sought for the words for a moment. I knew them already, but it was a nice show. "...raising a Grey Wolf is challenging and rewarding at the same time. One has to have a strict hand, but also a rewarding hand, be just as active, unless one wants a pudgy, unhappy puppy."
I smiled.
"But in the end, one has a wonderful companion, a protector.", I added, "When I came here, I had him with me and he is still here. However, today, he's with Rona."

"I'm sort-of the black sheep of the family, to be honest. Not in the sense that I don't have contact to the rest, mind you, I still get the invitations to family festivals and I still come, but I didn't go into the family business."

"Haha nothing wrong with being an odd duck or black sheep. I predictably followed my family's footsteps in both capacities even if my Priestess time was just for the mandatory service. important thing is you still like em and they still like you."

Enya Cíochach of the Tribe of Navan. A bench on the Plaza.
Doireann greeted both mother and son with smiles, bowed her head lightly.
Then she turned to Räv: "I indeed load up the shells, both from the stockpile into the tank and from the magazine into the gun. A heavy 155 millimetre short shell.", she explained with a smile, letting go of me and rounding the bench. It became apparent how tall she actually was with her 1.83 metres. "I also have a few other jobs, but we can go into them when we are over there."
With a smile, she offered her hand to Räv.
"Wanna have me show you around?", she offered to him and his Mam, me being included by default.

The Printíseach.
"Indeed.", Marla said uncommitedly, then took another sip, "So... is there anything in particular, that you want to see today?" She let a small beat pass. "Two of the school bands are going to give informal concerts, if my information is correct... they will not be Dísréad, or at least I doubt they will be, but it might be worth checking out. Or are you more interested in seeing the heavy equipment?"

Mediama wrote:Victoria stroked her chin as she pondered a brief moment, “They’re one of the Italian-like nations, right?

Display of the Beastly Badgers.
Nolwenn Lagrogha of the Tribe of Dundalk.

I was puzzled for a moment - what was an 'Italian-like nation'? In the end, that did not matter and I decided to roll with it.
I had to giggle at Victoria's stories about their Squadron Commander.
"Oh, you should see Kay, when she gets into the driver's seat...", I said with a grin, "She's the Driver of our command vehicle, Raicleabán-Aon, and an when she sits in there, she's like another person. An aggressive Beast of Rhiannon, that girl is!" I grinned. "Still, she is balanced quite well by Fiona and when she sits in her little Mionsamhail, you'll never find a safer driver."
I shrugged.
"I guess, that's how people are. Amazing in their own, odd ways.", I added, then motioned to the table, "Would you mind me joining you for a cuppa?"

Asteria Vena. With Melissa and Alyssa.
"The number of people, who heard a Starrcailann roar and lived to tell the tale is rather small.", I said with a small smile, "They don't like visitors and so does the Gun Carriage named in their honour. When their shells fall, nothing stays standing."
I smiled slightly.
"We are masters in using the terrain to our advantage.", I added, "See a ridge above the enemy column? Well, they'll have to redraw the maps rather soon..." I shrugged. "Most foreign teams are actually more concerned with us getting hurt as the Toirneach only has one protected seat, the driver's."

Food.
The lad, as Jane turned to yell, had many options.
Fold and offer more apologies. Or fight. Or escalate further.
He was not gonna fold, not only because his friends were closeby, but also because... well, he apologized. Her going at him like that was undue.
"As said, Miss, my apologies.", he said, his tone far more neutral then friendly, locking eyes with her. He was half a head shorter and looked quite self-assured. "If you wish to get me a hard time, though, I believe, everyone would appreciate, if we went at it in the Gym. We have a ring there."
He smirked.
While not an expert in hand-to-hand, he was a Selkie and a lad. He got into scrapes.
And despite regular discouragement from his parents, he solved some of them with his fists.

Plaza. With Alice and Sophia.
Walking around the tightly-packed plaza had many things people interested in Sensha-Do could enjoy, from vehicles of the Historic Fleet to the display tanks of the different teams present on that day. The Badgers and the Little Snails, the Naval School's Team and of course the hosts, the Iris Boarding School Complex's Team.
The Naval School Team was currently on parade, honouring their 'rivals' from the Little Snails, but the rest of the teams were displaying - and they were preparing. While no matches in the traditional sense for Sensha-Do would happen today, they still had an interesting itinerary.
There was a tank biathlon challenge planned, as well as three gunnery competitions (the SPGs were excluded, for some reason) and a lot of events and things happening, which had little to nothing to do with Sensha-Do.
It all boiled down to what the two young women from Mervay wanted to see.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

"It does sound like a lot of fun! If you'd be so kind, we'd love to see around some more." She nodded with a smile.

Aina took a moment to think if there was anything she had in mind, to be honest she didn't, she wasn't a tourist type so nothing in particular came to mind but she was going to be here a while and she didn't want to spend it all indoors and sleeping when the day was so nice out. "Music sounds pretty nice I must admit. Don't suppose you'd like to accompany me? I'll admit I don't often stay in port long, besides my home port anyway. So I don't often really go sight seeing. But having a local to help me around, sounds like a nice day. Plus we shared tea together so you must be able to tolerate me!" She joked.

Plaza
The plaza itself was massive with what has to offer, although tight with all of it and the amount of people being present. There were various tanks of the different teams as so vehicles of the Historic Team from the school, etc, etc.
To be honest there were many other choices for them to do and mostly they were for everyone no matter if they were interested on the sport or not. Although their options were many, they came here for the Sensha-Do and so they will go for it... In other words, they will go to see the display of vehicles of the teams and see an little more of the sport as close as they can.

"Think we will be able to talk with one of the many team's members???" Antonella asked curious as Alice thought about, a gamble that's for sure since they would have to be lucky to meet one of those lads but it can be worth it since they would hear a little more of the Sensha-Do from the experts.

She just slightly smiled as she looked at her friend with her arms linked behind on her back.

"Maybe..." she said letting a beat pass. To then step and be at front of her friend. "We just have to wait and see" she grinned. To then kept walking with her friend, smiling of the time they will spend here.
