Ismos Peace Prize

The Ismos Peace Prize has been awarded every year since 1890, following the death of former Ghantish Prime Minister Irat Ismos, who founded the Ghantish Peace Committee, which was renamed in his honor following his death.

Ismos, Ghant's first Prime Minister, who advocated and achieved non-violent resolution during the latter part of the Ghantish Civil War and remained a committed pacifist his entire life, stipulated in his will that a yearly award should be given,

"To the person who has done the most of best work for peace between nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies and of preventing or ending conflict."

In honor of Irat Ismos, the award has been presented each year to a notable individual or group in the world who has contributed to the cause of peace.

The recipient will be presented the award at the Ghish Concert Hall by the Chairman of the Ismos Peace Committee alongside the Empress of Ghant.

Nomination for Ismos Peace Prize

Full Name of Nominee: Her Imperial Majesty Empress Marsella (née Atmos), The Dowager Empress

Nationality of Nominee: Ghantish

Profession of Nominee: Diplomat, later Empress consort

Please explain briefly why this candidate should be considered for the Ismos Peace Prize: Marsella Atmos has time and time again proved to be a force good. She began as a Ghantish diplomat before becoming Empress. As Empress, she continued her work, sponsoring numerous charities throughout Latium, primarily focusing on reading and school programs, for which she also worked on expanding government support in these areas. Marsella is a regular participant in key BC-NATA dialogue, which is paramount to peace and stability in not only that region of the world, but the world as a whole. She once again proved integral to the peaceful resolution of the 2016 succession crisis, meeting with the democratically elected local county and city councils at great risk to her own life. Her selflessness in such dire event alone a demonstration of her desire for peace and a better world.

Nomination for Ismos Peace Prize

Full Name of Nominee: Her Majesty Melisende III, Queen of Sydalon

Nationality of Nominee: Sydalene

Profession of Nominee: Head of state and government

Please explain briefly why this candidate should be considered for the Ismos Peace Prize: Throughout her young reign, Queen Melisende has worked to secure peace and justice for all of her subjects, even at great cost to her own security. In her first month of ruling, she sought justice for victims of corrupt members of the religious order, the Order of the Holy Lance, who used their position not only to expand their own personal wealth, but power over those that could not adequately defend themselves. The subsequent arrests led to these corrupt elements in government seek her overthrow, forcing the Queen to seek refuge in neighboring Ascalzar for some time. Her Majesty has made sacrifices and overcome this attempted overthrow. She has vowed to continue her anti-corruption agenda, and has worked towards the progress of a representative government in Sydalon.

Profession of Nominee:Jesuit Priest

Please explain briefly why this candidate should be considered for the Ismos Peace Prize: Father Marcos Jimenez has worked hard in post-civil war Ashab establishing primary and secondary schools for impoverished children living in the rural areas of the Temethis security zone. His work providing education and feeding for dozens of children, of both Intaki and Catholic background, has ensured that the children of these villages will have hope and the opportunity for advancement that was only previous available to middle and upper-class families. These children now have the ability to raise themselves to careers that are more than working as a laborer on a plantation.

Father Marcos Jimenez Wins 2018 Ismos Peace Prize
By John Igara| GHISH | Posted: December 20th, 2018 12:00 GST

GHISH – Father Marcos Jimenez, a Chacoan Priest, has been awarded the 2018 Ismos Peace Prize for his humanitarian work in Ashab following the civil war that ravaged that country. Father Jimenez was supposedly the runner-up to last year’s award, which was captured by Ghantish Prime Minister Nymun Izarbegiratzeak. In a statement released from the Ismos Peace Committee, the reasons for awarding Father Jimenez are elucidated upon:

The Ismos Peace Committee has decided to award the Ismos Peace Prize for 2018 to Father Marcos Jimenez for his humanitarian work in post-civil war Ashab. These efforts include building schools for children in poverty-stricken areas, providing food for the starving, medicine for the sick and ensuring that the worst off citizens of Ashab, be they Intaki or Catholic, have the basic needs necessary for life satisfied.

Father Jimenez has shown what impact one man can make in a dangerous situation and how a dedication to humanitarianism can improve the lives of thousands of people who have been deprived basic human rights as a result of poverty, famine and war. Father Jimenez’s dedication to serving the poor and needy regardless of race or religion is of profound importance in a world increasingly divided on those grounds. The Ismos Peace Committee wishes to express the hope that others may be inspired by his efforts to make the world a better place.

The Ismos Peace Committee focused especially on Father Jimenez’s aid to those affected by war regardless of race or religion. Father Jimenez’s efforts have supplied food, clothes, education and medicine to people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to any of those things, and for that we at the Ghish Post cannot think of anyone that more closely embodies the spirit of the Prize.

The Peace Prize will be presented to the Isidium Foundation on December 23rd at the Imperial Ghish Concert Hall by Peace Prize Laureate Empress Sophia of Ghant, Gorka Aguirre and Institute member Sara Haribec, great-granddaughter of Laureate Prime Minister Malderi Haribec and descendant of Irat Ismos through her mother. Congratulations to Father Marcos Jimenez.

I would like to thank you all for this recognition, it truly is an honor that I do not deserve. Indeed, all glory must go to God. He alone has protected us and all the little ones from further violence in Ashab, and he has made it possible for us to spread his word to those poor wretches who have endured so much suffering. When I started three years ago, I arrived in a devastated region. So many young children left fatherless, wandering the street of their villages, searching desperately for food, wondering if their little lives would be cut short by the next band of rebels to come through. They suffered so much, and they still bear the scars both physically, and emotionally from the conflict.

Today our school has grown, from a single small building to a chain of boarding schools, that are able to feed and house these children in comforts that they could never receive back at their villages. Intaki, and Catholic study side by side, and treat each other as brothers. They also receive the blessed intangible gifts of education, and the word of God. There is a hope in their lives.

This award will not be used for my glorification, but for the glory of God, and to gain awareness to expand our operation to open up a vocational school, where the children will be able to learn valuable trades that can help support them and their future families for their lives. Wonderful things have been happening in Ashab, but the needs are immense, and the workers few. I pray that this recognition goes to further help the struggling children of that nation.

Thank you all so much and God bless you all,

Father Marcos Jimenez
