Waterstad Harbour
Philia & Emily
The captain and the lady who introduced herself as Emily began to speak in a foreign language. Philia did not know what language it was. It sounds somehow Mediterranean, almost like the Latin, which some people spoke in her homeland.
She felt a bit marginalized and out of place. Are they just arguing because of her? After a while of conversation Emily spoke again to Philia and held out her hand.
Philia swallowed. Emely had taken her, a stone fell from her heart.
"Thank you, Emliy," she said, taking Emely's hand.
Orcadian Embassy - presidential table
Ian waited for the president to order his drinks before turning to the waiter
"one glass of rum please" he says before turning to Nick,
"ah yes, one Port Emberan white wine please" asks Nick,
"two coffees please, we're driving tomorrow morning" states Penny, who being a triple amputee doesn't drink much in the way of alcohol, less so now that she has a job, and Evan tends to only drink if he is not driving within the next 24 hours, and besides that, the husband of the embassador's daughter being pulled for DUI, oh how the press would have a field day given he's the husband of a Salty!
With the orders taken, the waiter nodded and made his way to the kitchen to get the orders whilst the band began to play some soft jazz music which gets puts a smile on Penny's face as she too is musically talented and it is known back in Greater Orcadia that she has also travelled to a certain beer festival in Neu Engollon. Wallace however had by now curled up in a ball underneath Nick's seat.
"After this trip dad, we'll have to have a look at the historic places in Port Ember" comments Penny, talking to Nick
"ah yes, maybe the old plantation house would be a place to start...." replies Nick "...would you agree, Mr President?"
Old Harbour House
Finja and Oakki
The building that the tour group entered was in the face of the nineteenth century. This style of furniture is still popular in Draycora, especially among the middle-class population. For the fresh Elvish couple, the old exhibits of the paintings and records were fantastic. They were like a portal from our time to the past.
When questions were asked, Finja raised her hand. Finja always has questions, Oakki thought. She seems to recognize small details in the stories that remained hidden from me.
"A little question," began Finja. "You mentioned Gazetown, which was founded with this building, what has become of this town?".

Emily took the outstretched hand of Philia, and pulled softly, indicating that she should rise. When she stood, Emily walked over to the Captain and gave him a soft kiss on his cheek, and started walking away from him, still holding the hand of Philia, pulling her softly.
The old captain flashed a smile and offered a feint wave, before speaking softly in his deep voice, "Go well Philia. Emily will take good care of you, and I will visit you once I return from my impending voyage."
Emily led Philia down and off the vessel, and led her towards the waiting vehicle. A suited man opened the door for the girls, who climbed in back. The door was closed once both were seated comfortably in the back, and the driver climbed in behind the wheel. Emily immediately addressed him, "Edward, kindly cancel all my remaining meetings for the day. I have a new priority to sort out.. And while we are at it, take us to Empire Mall." Edward replied swiftly and firmly, only acknowledging with a simple head nod and "Yes mam.".
Emily turned to Philia, "This is Edward, my driver. A reliable and trustworthy fellow. In the event of my absence, consider him my avatar. We are now off to the mall. You are now in the inner circle of Emily Hunter - you need to dress the part."

Penny wasn't expecting Edward Flint to bang on the table and so gave a notable flinch! probably brought on sub consiously from when she got shot up in the USA, however the hall had quickly fallen silent thanks to one large fist hitting an oak table
"...to a bright future" called the President, the crowd responded by clinking glasses and cups, for Penny and Evan are drinking coffee rather than alcoholic beverages, mainly for they will be driving in the morning, however their glass cups get in on the action too.
"TO A BRIGHT FUTURE!, HURRAH!!!!!!" bellowed the crowd none of whom were actually in key with eachother but they certainly had the spirit.
"you okay Penn?" asked Nick, seeing his daughter flinch
"yeah, I'm fine, just slightly startled, thats all, nothing serious"
"okay" replied Nick with a smile.
Ian, sipping his drink smiled approvingly "im sure this will go down nicely down London way" he says to the table in general, before turning to Penny and Evan, "you guys not drinking?"
"nah, for one, I have not got the body mass or blood volume that you have after loosing both legs and an arm, dont forget my legs are amputated just above the knee and my arm here is missing from half way above the elbow after being shot up in the states so drinking half a pint for me is like you drinking two or three pints, and given I am expected to be working tomorrow I gotta ensure that I am totally sober, remember your chauffeur on his way to pick you up last year?" replied Penny, taking a sip of her coffee, "being busted for DUI, the papers would have a field day!"
Soon after the toast, the waiters were on their way around to take notes for the starter course, stopping at every table on the way to take the orders, this included the presidential table.
"What would one be requiring?" asked the waiter.
"Tomato soup please" replied Penny, with Evan ordering salmon with parsley sauce, Nick went on to order a chicken based starter, as well as asking if the restaurant staff can give Wallace some roast beef diced in gravy, for even the cat isn't going to be left out with this meal, after all he has been *relatively* behaved and at the moment is lying down atop the stairs

Finja and Oakki
"Oh wow," said Finja. "That sounds like the city has been enjoying a boom since independence, or has Gaztown been a megapolis before?"
That would be interesting, since the country's independence seems to be quite young. Although Draycora was never dependent (which is astounding as the gigantic empire of Onderkelkia is right next to it), the united principality was not founded until 1888. From then on, the country had many ups and downs, only in the 1980s with the libertarian reforms, everyone was doing really well. Port Ember, on the other hand, seemed to be prospering since independence.
The couple continued to listen to the tour guide.

Waterstad International Airport.
Bloody shit, that had been one heck of a long flying odyssey!
For someone only used to regional hoppers from Leuda to Traverse, or from Fortham to Traverse, for that matter, a series of flights of several thousand kilometers to finally get to the place of vacation, with several stopovers and changes in planes, was quite an adventure in its own right!
But now, here I was: Port Ember, Waterstad International Airport.
I breathed in the refreshing, tropical air - this time, real tropics, not the half-baked tropics that was the Archipelago! Here, I would spent seven nights and the corresponding number of days, relaxing between my studies of economics in Fortham, see the sights, lie on the beach and work on my tan, maybe get to know people... we'll see, what we'll have!
I was not here for any work, that was for sure.
Then, the whole trip would go back, maybe less complicated this time...
Anyway, here I was, dressed in a white summer dress, knee length, with a pair of sunglasses on my nose protecting my blue eyes and my long, blonde hair bound into a braid, that wrapped itself around the back of my head... maybe I would try a new hairdo while here? Let's see about that.
I walked through the terminal with my traveling bag in my hand and with a backpack on my back, one loop over my shoulder. I smiled, as I exited. Taxis - in a long row before me.
I approached the first one.
"Hello!", I greeted the driver, "Got a spot left?"

Peter, a middle aged man working as a cab driver was seated in his olive green cab, parked outside the Waterstad International Airport, waiting for his next job. And his next job approached, and only noticed her when she was at the car, speaking through the window, asking him whether he had a spot left.
He took a quick look at his potential customer, and noticed that she was a female dressed in a white summer dress, wearing a pair of sunglasses and had long blonde hair bound into a braid. Very attractive indeed.
He replied, still seated inside the cab, "Top o' the day lassie. Sure do - get in! Where ye off to lassie?" He spoke in a thick Emberian accent, the specific Waterstad culture unique to those folks who grew up around the waterfront area.

I smiled at the cab driver, pretending to not notice, that he checked me out. Well, a middle-aged cab driver wasn't exactly what I was looking for as someone to get to know.
I entered the car, putting my bags onto the rear seats.
"Perfect! Thank you!", I said and sat down next to him, "I would like to go to the Wheelhouse Hotel, please."
It would be the hotel I had a room booked, after all, so...
I had taken a moment to listen to his thick accent, but I would manage, I believed, if there weren't any worse then that.

Embassy Opening Crowd
President Flint noticed Penny flinching when he slammed the table, and felt sorry for startling her. He however did not know the true reason behind her fright as he did not know her history. Therefore he dismissed his actions quickly, as the table slam was a normal Port Emberian custom.
The crowd responded to the president's toast with great passion - even though cheering out of tune with another. The passion was there nontheless. Edward smiled as he watched the passionate response from the crowd - arousing passion from crowds was one of his greatest talents and features and a large factor which makes him so popular in the public's eyes.
Edward and Joani clinked their glasses of rum together following the toast, and enjoyed taking their first sips of the high quality Port Emberian spiced rum served to fhem. Edward also enjoyed the fact that PM Ian did the same.
When the waiter arrived at the table, Edward and Joani both ordered a salmon based starter.
Edward then turned to Ian, "So Prime Miniser, what is your first and honest opinion regarding what you have heard and seen regarding the Republic?"
Orcadian Embassy, opening dinner
When President Flint asked his opinions, Ian Gordon paused momentarily, "well, Mr President, When I came to politics as a back bench MP, things between our two nations were not what you could call warm and I think you were in a senatorial position or was that a congress position, and there was some distrust on both sides, however a lot of that may have been from the media, both your media on us, and our media on Port Ember yet wind the clock forwards a few years and things had started to change, there are still cracks to fill in and things to do but the fact that we have been able to open this embassy here is a start and a big move in the right direction.
As for what I have seen, your environmental policy seems to be forward thinking and it seems your social policies are something that we back home could learn from, but I think it will take a while for the populus of both nations to begin to trust eachother but we are on the right path I think"
Penny listenned intently, her eyes focused on Ian Gordon as he spoke, then moving to whoever else was speaking for Penny was one who believed in eye contact, Evan caught movement out of the corner of his eye, it was Wallace making his way down stairs towards a door that lead to the private area of the Embassy for there a member of the Embassy staff was standing with a plate of diced meat covered in gravy so it looks like Wallace will be getting something to eat soon.
Evan's attention turned to Penny, "whats the charge like?"
Penny moved her arm and glanced at the status LEDs before looking at her legs, "seventy percent, they'll need a charge before tomorrow, my legs are in standby mode at the moment as I am sat here so they'll probably last a bit longer, however the spare pack should be charged when we get home tonight"

I smiled and buckled in as per the recommendation - I felt his gaze still lingering, but this time, it felt more admiring then perverted, so I let him do as he pleased. As long as no one got touchy...
As my Mam once told me: Fi, if you ever have a boyfriend, let him get as much appetite as he wants outside, but he eats at home! I bet, that he was someone's boyfriend or something else.
I smiled at his words about the Wheelhouse - that was the reason, why I took it, to be honest. It was a touristy-place.
"Thank you - and I don't mind.", I said with a smile, "I am from the Free Lands of the Selkie."

As the girls were seated in the comfortable backseats of the luxury vehicle, the 'new car smell' was overwhelming and a welcoming smell to Emily. She did however notice the worry in the eyes of her new companion. She suddenly realised that this was most probaly the first time ever that Philia have driven in a car before, as she have heard about the total bam on cars in Sophistan where Philia hails from. She pitied the girl, yet decided yo to broach the subject, not wanting to insult her or make her pity clear. Philia would have to get used to traveling with a car quickly - the city was just too massive not to travel by car.
She listened to Philia give her reply, that she only had one pair of clothes to wear, so she misunderstood her intent, and ask her about the 'inner circle' statement, seeing the worry on her young beautifull face.
Emily smiled softly and replied, "The Inner Circle is just a silly label. Basically what I mean is that I have taken you in.. You are now directly associated with me. When people see you, they will see you as kin to me.. and I have a status to uphold you see, so you need to look the part.. And worry not - I have deduced that you lack extra clothes.. thus we came here to the mall, to purchase you an entire wardrobe." Emily maintained her smile and even extended her hand to Philia, in an attempt to comfort her in her understandably confusing environment.
The vehicle arrived at the mall - a MASSIVE building, 5km wide and four stories high. This was the largest shopping mall in the entire Northern Ocean region, with more than 800 stores. The vehicle pulled up to the mall but went underground, and came to a standstill in the packed underground parking space.

Philia & Emily
Philia was relieved that the "inner circle" was just a metaphor. "Oh, good," she said. "I had somehow thought of such a Freemasonry in this expression". In Sophistan they are displayed as a terrorist sect. Philia was aware that this was a misrepresentation, but education can not simply be swept away. However, Philia's thoughts wandered off when she saw this monster of a structure. The height of this building was not abnormal, but the expanse stretched almost to the horizon. Overwhelmed by this greatness, Philia uttered a soft, breathy "Theé mou!". That was definitely bigger than the department store of Polis.
"Wow," said the sophist. "I am amazed, how was it built and who built it?"

When the guide was finished, Finja thanked for the question.
"Megapolis," Oakki whispered to her in Finnish. "That has to get Halsholm first".
"Would not you call it megapolis?" She asked him back. "Elvish cities can be quite big too, like Smeralda".
Smeralda is the largest city of the Principality. It is almost twice as large as Halsholm and lies on the southeastern coast of the Elvish peninsula. There lies the so-called Crystal Realm, the wealthiest and most prosperous province of Draycora. This city was a haven of cultural and economic boom and overshadows Halsholm, the capital, a lot in the shade.
The couple now heard that the tour was over and the tourists were on their way.

As we hit the highway, we picked up speed - indeed, there seemed to be no speed limits, yet it was not anarchy and chaos of self-destroying cars. Surprising, really, but pleasantly so.
There was still a certain order to it.
I listened to his reply and smiled.
"Indeed, no soil is like Selkie-soil either, so... come visit one time! I especially recommend the Lake Mór Area in summer.", I said, "But yes, this is my first time in Port Ember. The people, present company included, seem nice, but I haven't seen enough of the country to really form an opinion. Sorry." I smiled apologetically. Emily giggled im a cute manner when it was revealed that Philia thought that her metaphorical 'Inner Circle' implied some sort of Freemasonry cult. It was clear that although botg girls spoke english, the cultural differences between them meant that there would be several future misunderstandings. This would be overcome eventually with time spend together.
Philia was clearly amazed at the sheer size of the Empire Mall and weirdly enquired about its construction. Emily frowned softly at this unconventional question, but still admired her curiosity. Emily replied, "Its construction was funded by a private company called Liberty Retail Group. They contracted a few private consruction companies who worked together in its construction. I dont know much about construction, so cant delve into specifics if how exactly it was build. But probally with enough manpower and powertools and some sort of construction vehicles I guess...".
As the vehicle came to a stop in the underground parkinglot, Edward quickly climbed out and opened the door where Emily were seated. Emily climbed out and gestured to Philia to follow suite. Once she was out she took her hand again, and led her to an esculator which took them upstairs - straight into the belly of the massive mall.

Spiced or not, good rum was definately on my to-do-list, as was good food - what was a trip abroad without the local cuisine?
"So, for starters, know any nice beaches?", I asked.

The table was momentarily interrupted as the waiters came along with the starter meals, all cooked to perfection.

The door of the limousine opened and Emily got out and called Philia also get out. Then Emily took her hand and pulled Philia into an elevator. This drove them to the hall of the building. Philia's jaw dropped as she saw this crowded mall.
