Winner's reprise has been posted :) I've also been in contact with Anoll and Brit, got home earlier so finally had a chance to be able to write down the reprise and let this process through. I'm still very much in shock from this ngl. To say this was unexpected is an understatement, this came out of nowhere and I just... Thank you all so much. Thank you to everyone who voted for the Izmeduan entry.

I've been in love with Ornella Vanoni's Imparare ad amarsi since its release in Sanremo 2018, and it's a song that helped me IRL come to terms with a lot of things. When life threatens to throw me into a state of anxiety, the message of the tune with it's IRL lyrics just help... calm me down and re-gain perspective again. The more I listen to it, the more it allows me to step back and just take things day by day again. I discovered this song during the precipice of graduating from university and back then, it was one of the things in life that helped me calm down just a little bit when I was faced with that exciting yet frightening prospect of what is very possibly the rest of my life. But it also helped me come to terms with the fact that it was an end of an era of sorts, that a long, yet short, and yet packed chapter of my life was coming to a close.

I wanted to write this in my last edition as overseer (WHF41), but the circumstances just didn't feel right. A couple of months away, and seeing my future finally crystallize and take shape... It was only fairly recently that I felt like I could write "Maja pisma" and... here we are now. Like "Closure," it was a song that I wrote to make sense of a lot of the craziness that surrounds my head and... something I've had in mind for quite a long time now. So to see the tune and the entry win is incredible. As I said on discord, the tune and the circumstances surrounding it very much mean the world to me.

Looking forward to the next festival. Again, thank you all so much.

Once again, congratulations Izmedu! You have won this contest so many times now that I think it's safe to say you're basically the king/queen of WHF. :p Seriously though, I don't remember a single entry from you that didn't have years of backstory and didn't have an emotional punch.

I can't speak on behalf of everyone, this is just my personal opinion. Typically, entries that don't have RP don't tend to do so well, partly because it doesn't demonstrate that you put a lot of work into the entry but also because a lot of people also care about staging/performance. In addition, I feel like your entry didn't match up with the tune that well; I personally had trouble following it. Finally, I didn't really understand your lyrics. It started off really similar to "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen and then started talking about "getting head" and "wanting to kick" or something. It didn't really resonate with me.

It's only your first time though, so it's understandable. There's a link to my very first entry in this contest in the second post of the IC thread and it wasn't that great. The lyrics didn't always match up with the tune, there were verses missing, there wasn't much substance to the RP and it was hard to read, some of the lyrics were a bit too cheesy.

Just realised - just before I checked the IC thread, I got an Issue, which went like this:

Astoria falls flat in singing contest

Either it was a coincidence, or the issues system knew I flopped badly

Wow 10th? I have to do better :eyebrow:

That being said, congratulations to Izmedu for winning the World Hit Festival! Looking forward to coming back to Vodiznad [insert eyes emoji here] and reading your speech, it seems like it is a well-deserved victory and I'm glad all the effort you took into writing your entry paid off.

I do realize this is a very late response but this is my first time properly logging into NS since before voting began (although I had been keeping up with the results and stuff)
