A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You won't be penalized if you sign up and don’t end up posting a song. You then post the song in the IC thread after a host vote (see previous contests to see what a "normal" post looks like).
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory, and other languages are encouraged.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the Committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one edition in order to qualify to host a following edition. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the Committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if you do so and don't finish your entry by the deadline, you will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalized or not. You may also state that you are withdrawing from the contest on the OOC thread.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee. If you'd like to edit something in after the deadline, please ask the Committee for permission first.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Antahbrantahstan, Kalosia, Togonistan, Todlichebujoku, Darkmania) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

No, its just that nation who keep making low-efford songs in order to get nul points.
This is a puppet for Darkmania.

Britonisea will return to the WorldVision Song Contest after taking a break from the 69th and 70th edition. This is, of course, our 40th anniversary at the contest and we will definitely be celebrating that through our entry. Information regarding who will be representing us will be revealed in the coming weeks.

I promised a bid back at 70, so here is it! It's my first one, but this should work.

Main Nation Ministry's Bid for WorldVision 71!

Image

"What happens here will make sure you will never be the same again."

(Credit to Tekanu from Discord/Todlichebujoku for providing the above logo and postcard below!)

ABOUT US

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen to the Ministry of Regions. Here lies our nation called Main Nation Ministry. As you can expect, we will provide a possible top entertainment experience...with some natural downsides.

Image

Don't worry about that man that you see up there. He is simply a traitor to the Ministry. To provide all of our guests and musicians attending this WorldVision, our secret police will be on their guard enforcing the safety that our citizens enjoy. It is one of our top qualifies of our nation. As you can see, we have most of our citizen serve their country and nation for the benefit of victory. Down on this picture below, you can see some of our new recruits getting ready to serve their cause. Some are happy at being a part of our armed forces, as shown below.

Image

We are focused on perserving the nature of life itself. So enjoy visiting one of our forest sectors. However, it is recommended that you bring a soldier as your guide. We are responsible for protecting our lush forests, but we're not responsible if you get attacked by anything that might be in our forests.

Image

Luckily, our featured venue for WV71 will be in one of our major city sectors. Pictured down below is the city of Bright Falls, best known for housing our main political sectors for the Ministry and the famous Victory Square. Here, you can get to experience tourism of Main Nation Ministry's urban side in it's finest. Alongside with admiring the view at night, you can expect a good stay, as long as you follow our protocol.

Image

Feeling a tad bit hungry? Most of what we Ministrians eat is fruits, grains, vegetables, diary, protein, and an invasive species of snakefish to consume. Here we serve snakefish in all sorts of ways, so don't be yellow in not eating some. While it's not mandatory, you don't want these creatures to continue breeding, do you?

Image

THE VENUE

The venue for WorldVision 71 will be held in a lesser-known area of Bright Falls, known as Freedom Plaza. While it has served as a local area to visit one of the monuments known as "The Will of Power", it has began to decline in tourism rates from 2017. While scouting for spots to host the WorldVision 71, we found a large theater that has enough room to give Freedom Plaza an opportunity for a boost in tourism. Pictured below is a security photo of Freedom Plaza in 2017, where an artist has added a minimalist touch to it.

Image

Inside the Freedom Plaza Theater, we updated the interior to give off a more Gothic vibe, where the Leader popped up to give us some design choices, which he believed would suit the stage for WorldVision 71. Here on the stage, our stage is composed of the main stage, which is composed of the "catwalk" and the central performance area beyond the curtain. As you may have noticed, there are two winding stairwells on each side of the stage, which is optional for performers to be on for their performance. Beyond the curtain, there are two LED objects that are movable upon request which act as a mobile blue screen to display any background for your performance. The central performance area allows any participating nation to bring their own props or sets to be set up beyond the curtain to help with their performance. What is not in view for the photos below is a LED screen that extends in front from where the curtain rises and falls to display the postcard for each performing nation. The black grand piano with the candlestick can be removed, if any performance is to be without a piano. While not in view, lining the stage are pyrotechnics which can let out anything from sparks, flames, jets of water, or even bubbles. Make sure to tell the pyrotechnics guy on what you need for the stage.

POSTCARD

Image

Above, here is an example of our postcard. The nation name will be listed along with the performer and the name of their song. Performance number included!

COMMERCIAL

To advertise our bid for WV71, we prepared a special commercial to convince people to support our bid!

The commercial stands off at a snowy street in the middle of the night in front of an old-looking electronics store. At the shop display window, multiple televisions can be seen stacked on one another. A young man wearing a red jacket, looking like they are down on their luck, appears in view where one of the TV's suddenly switches on to static, drawing their interest. Slowly, the TV's start switching on one by one to show static, surprising the man where he slowly backs away. Then the narrator proceeds to speak to the viewers. "For WorldVision 71, Main Nation Ministry would like to help you focus on a show like no other. Here in the nation. We'll help strip you away from the absurdity of your normal life." After the narrator finishes, the shop window explodes in a bright light, sending the man to the ground, while shielding his eyes.

The man looks to see a large theater in place of the electronics store, where the double doors open, letting out fog. The Leader emerges, wearing a red and black ringmaster outfit, extending a hand to the young man. "Would you like to join?" the narrator states, where the words "Vote for Main Nation Ministry for WV71 Bid!" flash on the screen.

Several minutes ago, it was announced that the Allied States of Polkopia would return to the upcoming contest and the PNB would serve as the nation's broadcaster for Worldvision. Last edition, the nation was represented by the girl group MJM who finished in an impressive 3rd place with 89 points. The Landa vy Polkopiya will still serve as the National Final for selecting Polkopia's entry for the 68th Worldvision song contest, however the format will be altered. The PNB is introducing semi-finals for the contest. In this format, there will be two semi-finals with 5 entries in each. International juries' votes will be collected, and then they will be randomly assigned a semi-final and their points will be distributed accordingly. Two songs will qualify to the Grand Final from each semi-final, as well as one 'Wildcard' entry. The international votes are then distributed to the songs in the Grand Final, along with the televote, and the winning entry will be determined then.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Main Nation Ministry's Bid for WorldVision 71!

"What happens here will make sure you will never be the same again."

ABOUT US

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen to the Ministry of Regions. Here lies our nation called Main Nation Ministry. As you can expect, we will provide a possible top entertainment experience...with some natural downsides.

(Image)

Don't worry about that man that you see up there. He is simply a traitor to the Ministry. To provide all of our guests and musicians attending this WorldVision, our secret police will be on their guard enforcing the safety that our citizens enjoy. It is one of our top qualifies of our nation. As you can see, we have most of our citizen serve their country and nation for the benefit of victory. Down on this picture below, you can see some of our new recruits getting ready to serve their cause. Some are happy at being a part of our armed forces, as shown below.

(Image)

We are focused on perserving the nature of life itself. So enjoy visiting one of our forest sectors. However, it is recommended that you bring a soldier as your guide. We are responsible for protecting our lush forests, but we're not responsible if you get attacked by anything that might be in our forests.

(Image)

Luckily, our featured venue for WV71 will be in one of our major city sectors. Pictured down below is the city of Bright Falls, best known for housing our main political sectors for the Ministry and the famous Victory Square. Here, you can get to experience tourism of Main Nation Ministry's urban side in it's finest. Alongside with admiring the view at night, you can expect a good stay, as long as you follow our protocol.

POSTCARD

I hope MNM wins the bid! They have my vote!
