OVERVIEW

Overlooking the largest metropolis in Atlas, and overlooked by the third-tallest mountain in the Free Union, Mont-Chagrin Academy's history is one shrouded in mystery. It is generally agreed that the hallowed school was founded in 1128 - predating even the first iteration of the nation of Acronius, although MCA has since gone through numerous restructures and expansions. Choosing to isolate itself from the rest of the world, the school's surroundings have strangely enough been the host of eighteen major battles in history, from the Aegran-Montfortian Wars to Great War II. It has consistently ranked within the best post-secondary establishments in Acronius since the 19th century, but was inconveniently quarantined from any form of civilization for thousands of kilometers, affecting its attendance. This changed in 1967, when, after two decades of construction, the sprawling streets of a brand new metropolis, Defense, were opened to the public, breaking Mont Chagrin's isolation from the world. Attendance requests, especially foreign, skyrocketed since, and Mont Chagrin Academy became a university of choice for both the aristocratic and those who dreamt big.

The Free Union of Acronius is a highly-developed first-world nation in western Vaaldhaven. Mainly French culturally, albeit with a substantial English minority, French and English are the nation's official languages, and as such, are the languages of instruction at Mont-Chagrin Academy, save for language-specific courses. Acronian Francs are the national currency, with a 1.01 exchange rate to the Universal Standard Dollar. Defense is a sprawling metropolis of 28 million people with an additional 11 million living in the surrounding metropolitan area, making it the largest metropolitan area in Atlas in terms of population. Mont Chagrin is located in the northwest of the city, and is easily accessible from other parts of the city via the Defense Metropolitan Underground Train system (abbreviated to Metro) and its sub-network of Defense Skytrain, the latter of which has a station at Mont Chagrin Academy itself. The main point of entry into Defense for foreigners is Defense Metropolitan International Airport, located in the southeast of the city. The airport and the Academy are connected via the Boundary Line on Defense Skytrain, providing a direct and simple means of transportation to the institution.

Mont Chagrin Academy boasts a complete and extensive campus sprawling over 11 square kilometers of land. It hosts numerous bars, cafés, and restaurants on its grounds, as well as numerous sports facilities including football fields, tennis courts, and a multi-purpose stadium. Students will stay in spacious dorms, which may be shared with up to three fellow students.

PLOT: LA MASCARADE

It is a time of the year many loathe. The Christmas and New Year festivities have come to a close, and with the passing of the holiday spirit, the resumption of reality's tiring mundanities inevitably follows. Such holds true at Mont Chagrin Academy – but a silver lining blesses those within the confines of the exclusive institution: the fast-approaching Mascarade. Intrinsic to the school's identity for centuries, la Mascarade is one of the most exclusive balls in Atlas, reserved only for princes, princesses, scholars and other young socialites of prestigious background enrolled at the Academy. An unique set of rules governs la Mascarade:

• Couples only
• Every couple must have at least one person of significant descent: this is defined as any royal, child of a world leader, or child of a Nobel Prize winner (third rule added in 1906)
• All proposals must be conducted in the presence of the School Headmaster, who will validate the proposal upon acceptance
• If any prospective attendee is courted by more than one suitor, the suitors must compete against each other in a series of three duels: hand-to-hand combat in the martial art chosen by the Headmaster; fencing; and the Mont Chagrin Hunt, whereby the suitors must be first to find their desired partner, who goes into hiding
• Strict dress code: White tie/very elegant/ceremonial dress.

  In all seriousness, a previously-overlooked issue may pop up during sign-ups or the RP, and I may need to address it. Anything I address or prohibit that is not currently listed in the rules will be added immediately.
• Additionally, please check the OOC thread, particularly the OP, on a regular basis. The OP in particular is still a work in progress. Rules may be added or clarified and I am not necessarily able to notify everyone each time I change the OP due to the frequency with which I do it. I may also add more helpful information, and other little goodies, such as the section for the campus map that I put in during this particular edit.
• No OOC fighting. Self-explanatory.
• Avoid super short posts. Though I understand that it's hard not to write a one-liner in a particularly dialogue-heavy scene in the RP, I highly recommend that you try to flesh out your posts, instead of trying to churn out one-liners as fast as possible.
• No sexually explicit posts. It's common for intercourse, promiscuity, stripping, or whatever else to happen in most colleges; this college is not likely to be an exception, and I won't shy away from that fact. However, I will not allow posting about sex. It may be implied or hinted at, but the scenes/'sessions' may never be directly RPed.
• Yes, you may have multiple characters. Four characters max. However, I will not allow characters being RPed by the same person to room together, and I ask that those who RP multiple characters keep their characters' interactions among themselves to a minimum.
• Expulsion is a thing. I have no issue OOCly with people doing stuff that would warrant disciplinary action by the school, but keep in mind that actions still have consequences: if I have you expelled (as I will also be RPing non-instructor school staff if need be), then you may not post in the thread anymore as that character. You may, however, still RP any other characters you have. If you only have one character, you are allowed to sign up another after the first is expelled, provided the character is differentiated enough.
• Lastly, and most importantly, remember the Triumvirate. Their jimmies are eternal. None can rustle the Triumvirate.

[Granzery]

• Personality: Charismatic and Outgoing, Attila was quite the womanizer back home in Granzery, of course the fact he was the youngest son of the Granzerian Royal Family did not hurt his interactions with the opposite sex. He is very protective of his family, especially his younger sister, Rozsa. He can occasionally be brash and abrasive, having limited experience with people willing to confront him when he goes too far.
• Ideology/Religion (Optional): Attila is an Eastern Orthodox Christian, like the rest of the Royal Family, while a Granzerian Patriot he makes an effort not to engage too heavily in politics.
• Bio: Born to King Karoly III and Queen Csilla, he is the fourth of five siblings, having an older sister, two older brothers and a younger sister. Growing up in Mezővörös Castle was something of an unusual upbringing, surrounded by servants and similar pompous royalty, he learnt to live in that world but it took him some time to adjust to the world outside. He attended private school from 2004-2014, unlike most of his siblings who were home-schooled, as was Attila for the first two years of his schooling, until at the young age of 8, insisted to his father to attend a public school, which his father finally relented to. Adapting to the rest of society was difficult at first, treating his peers as peers rather than as unwilling servants was an art which it took some time for him to master, however once he managed to learn to treat those of lesser birth than himself with respect, he became greatly popular, both due to his social status and natural charisma.
  
  After school, his intention in life was to join the Granzerian diplomatic service, but due to a rule barring royalty from holding government positions, he was not able to pursue his dream. He served with the Military for a year from 2017-2018, before completing his tour of duty. Since inviting the Royalty back to the Imperial Palace, the Granzerian state has begun to lax laws regarding its royal family, and Attila has sought to pursue a university course in geopolitics with the intention of joining the diplomatic service, joining his sister at Mont Chagrin Academy.

• Personality: Her Grace is reasonably diplomatic, willing to be relatively friendly towards most people. Even when people give her reason to dislike them, she can bear to be around them, and doesn't really believe in creating unnecessary drama. She is relatively down to earth - at least for someone of her heritage, and is more annoyed if you call her by her full name Alexandria than if you don't acknowledge her title - she prefers Alexia for short. Alexia loves music, and whilst sociable, is not exactly a socialite. Although reasonably mild-mannered and kind, she is independent and comfortable with her own company.
• Ideology/Religion (Optional): Raised Catholic, though does not follow this strictly. She has her own ideological beliefs but doesn't make it her mission to tell everyone about them.
• Bio: Alexia was born in the Castarcian City of Sainte-Aurélie-du-Lac in the region now known as Sauveterre, literally meaning "safe land" as it was where Acronians landed in a safe place in an otherwise hostile environment during the War of the Three Queens. The territory was given to a loyal Acronian noble house and over time descendants of these nobles still live in the area, though the territory has been firmly Castarcian for a long time now, the house members now being a mix of Acronian and Castarcian heritage.
  
  Alexia is the eldest child of her parents Éloïse and Charles, raised with being the successor to her mother in mind. Noticeably gifted from a young age, she was educated in Sauveterre's best schools, taught how to act 'proper' and was encouraged to pursue passions such as music and sports. As such, over the years Alexia has become an exceptional, if not prodigious pianist, having previously performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Castarcia.
  
  Alexia inherited the Duchy of Sauveterre at the age of twelve when her mother was killed when she fell from a horse she was riding, which saw her begin to grow particularly close to her father, who oversaw the Duchy as Alexia was obviously too young to do it herself. Alexia's sadness over her mother proved to be a catalyst for her attachment to the piano, which was a distraction she could find joy in. Alexia's father still currently oversees the Duchy as she has been enjoying the education at Mont Chagrin Academy for the past couple of years, which was deemed a fitting institution for her, being a noblewoman of both Castarcian and Acronian heritage.

• Personality: Rich is a very outgoing young man who likes to have a good time with his friends doing pretty much anything, from watching TV and films on the internet with his dorm mates when he should be studying, or going clubbing. He is normally trusted to come up with clever comments in any situation and very rarely finds himself without some way of entertaining himself. If you're cool with Rich, he's cool with you.
• Ideology/Religion (Optional): Religion isn't for Rich. The only god he believes in is money.
• Bio:Rich is part of the upper middle class in Castarcia, not exactly super privileged but there was always food on the table and his family could always afford a holiday every year. He is a clever young man that always enjoyed popularity in his school life and unexpectedly had an opportunity to go and study business at MCA, which he felt like he couldn't really turn down.
  
  Although affluent enough to be an attendee of the academy, Rich found himself in first year spending a lot of the money he had, mainly on having a good time. His parents send him an allowance every month but still he needed some kind of other income to make sure he didn't have to survive on tight budgets for the rest of his time as a student. Noticing the prevalence of casual drug use amongst other students and being in many social circles where partying is one of the things that brings them together, he used a chunk of the money he had left to buy drugs in large quantities and initially sold them to his mates. He was better at this than he thought he would be, soon finding himself wanted by many students he didn't even know who had gotten his number (he has a separate phone for his side job), who find a fellow student much more approachable than people in the streets of Defense - not everyone speaks great French or has great social connections from outside the academy. Rich intends to stop drug dealing when he graduates MCA, but he must admit it has been a financially healthy occupation that has also given him business experience outside of the lecture hall.

• Ideology/Religion: For the most part, Pyotr is an Orthodox Christian, but tends not to follow it as strictly compared to his other family members. Though having been born outside of Gorbatov, Pyotr is a Gorbatovic nationalist, and for the most part is bittersweet with the communist government of Gorbatov, though he recognizes the communist's role in the continued strengthening of the Gorbatovic state, it is the same party that had deposed his great-great-grandfather, and supposedly responsible for the deaths of his father, grandfather, and granduncle.
• Bio: Pyotr is the eldest child of Prince Grigory Mikhailovich and Antoinette Fouché, a notable historian and was from an Acronian lesser noble family. Moreover, he was born into the once royal family of Gorbatov, House Voronstov, once being the rulers of Gorbatov, until their deposition by the Rykovist in the October Revolution, and the subsequent civil war. To this fact, the family had fled initially to Elesar, but with the impending threat of a new war between the restored Elesarian Empire and the Communist in Gorbatov and Stasnov, the family fled further west, in which they ended up in Acronius.
  
  Though life has been good to Pyotr in his early years, it all changed in 2008; as his father was involved in a serious car accident, which left the father in a serious coma. Rumours of the Gorbatovic government responsibility for Grand Duke's condition have begun to spread in the household, it particularly hit Pyotr hard as he had a particular fascination with Gorbatov, and have begun to grow some sympathies; but all he focused on now, was his father's condition. In one of the lapses of consciousness, Prince Grigory stressed to move on from his condition, and have Pyotr continue living his life.
  
  To this fact, Pyotr's studies were very good in his elementary and middle school years, to such an extent, he was offered a scholarship into one of the top lycée school in the country. For the most part, he was a model student and he particularly excelled in the fields of history and science, all in an effort to make his father proud, if ever he awakens from his coma. In addition, at this time, Pyotr grew a particular passion for football, with CSKA Vałožyn as his favourite team, even though the team has communist connotations.
  
  In 2015, it was Pyotr's second year in lycée, everything was well, until in April, when his father died, due to complications of a lung infection. The news had obviously hit Pyotr hard, as the first weeks he left school to join the funeral procession of his father. At the end of the funeral procession, Pyotr's grandfather and current head of House Voronstov, Grand Duke Mikhail he declared Pyotr as his new heir, as he was next in the line of succession. Though he was initially hesitant in accepting such position, his grandfather managed to persuade Pyotr into accepting the position, to the fact that his father would have wanted for Pyotr to live on.
  
  At the end of his secondary schooling, Pyotr was able to enroll in the prestigious Mont Chagrin Academy in Defense, due to his academic merit and also influential family. In which he is currently in his sophomore year, and had declared to pursue a double major in political science and history, in the hopes of joining the diplomatic service of Acronius, with a further goal of being stationed in Gorbatov, so that he could finally visit his family's homeland.

• Bio: Born in Aiguebelle, Acronius, to an army man and an insurance agent, Axelle is part of the prestigious Rossignol-Sarkozy family, an aristocratic family of immense wealth often associated with the Sheridan Family, of which the founder and first leader of Acronius, Edgar Sheridan, was a part of. In 1999, Axelle, her older brother, and her parents moved to Defense, an ultramodern metropolis in the northwest of Acronius. Raised in Axess District, one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country, she attended a private, Catholic school from the beginning of elementary school to the end of middle school. At age 17, she enrolled in the International Exchange Student Program and completed her final year of secondary school in Kwadai, where she met Garth Arburr and has since been in a relationship with him. Upon finishing secondary school, Axelle moved back to Defense to attend Mont Chagrin Academy, and is in her sophomore year, enrolled in a Political Science & Journalism double major.

This immense privilege, however, did not save her from feelings of self-doubt and worthlessness at an early age, as she sat fourth in line to the throne of Acronia, behind her sisters Zara, Charlize, and Eugénie. With her parents seemingly infinitely more interested in her siblings, particularly Zara, her perceived uselessness and unimportance would become the nucleus of her insecurities, which in turn considerably shaped her personal philosophies, as her life became a relentless pursuit of grandeur; of any sense of significance or self-worth to assuage her appetite for recognition. This pursuit manifested itself most prominently in painstaking perfectionism in schooling and extracurricular activities - which inadvertently revealed the Duchess of Bruges' remarkable intellect. Victoire used her brainpower as a tool for manipulation, and her natural affinity for politicking led her to Mont Chagrin Academy, where she plans to complete an Honors Political Science & Philosophy degree.

• Bio: Born to a upper middle class family, Annestasia has traveled the globe, from school trips to family vacation. She doesn't know much about her family's past other than the fact she looks very much like her great grand mother, she is mostly Zeran Nordic, and of Chazicarian decent. She has always show signs of wanting a career in politics. Is staunch in her opinions, and loves a good arm wrestling match. • Bio: Kannitha was born as the second child and eldest daughter to Kem Vang, the Vice President of Surinland, then-governor of Thakhek province in Surinland, in late 1999. She spent her earliest years being raised in the family home on the outskirts of Sekong, the capital of Thakhek, with her mother, Mu Vang, and her older brother, Sar, and later her two young sisters, Boupha (b. 2002), and Chanlina (b. 2004). In 2002, when she was 3, her father won the election for the leadership of the Reform Party, then the country's fourth-largest party, and after the results were announced, the famous photo of Kem Vang holding Kannitha celebrating was taken. In 2004, when her father was elected to the National Assembly and left his position as the Governor of Thakhek, the family moved from Sekong to Rayong. Here, Kannitha attended a private Khmer-language primary school. Kannitha, unlike her other siblings, excelled in school. He has developed a reputation for being eccentric, straight-talking and extremely self-confident. It is believed that he once served in the Carlosian Army and made attempts to enter politics.
