Save The Rainforests Program Initiative

Postby Odinburgh » Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:00 pm

The Save The Rainforests program originated in Odinburgh to work in areas of the world to replant many trees in the rainforest areas and take animals to protective centers which they be brought back to their habitat once restored. It is important we have a balance of our activities in the program so the process goes smoothly. OWCA would like to see this as example in the World Assembly in passing new resolutions to do things more widely. However that is not OWCA's job really but work with nations independently that have rainforests that needs replanting and save animals that live in these areas. It is our belief OWCA stands apart from the WA bringing leadership working with OWCA nations and non-members that wish to work with us.

Are you suggesting that The Save The Rainforests program should be should be made into a WA resolution?

The Black Party promotes the advancement of anti-WMD initiatives for the sake of protecting the global environment.

Regarding the Save The Rainforests Program Initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released this statement,

International Dispatch - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Black Party
"The Black Party supports the program of restoring rainforest areas across the globe, but rejects the idea of transporting animals out of their homelands in unnatural patterns. The Black Party firmly believes in the pride of the national border, and widespread transportation may prove problematic to the nationalist tendencies. As such, The Black Party will have to withhold their endorsement of this initiative, and proposes a revision of such.

The Black Party hopes to hear more from the OWCA."

The Save The Rainforest Program Initiative is looking into ways of saving animals without having them to move far away till they are returned and considering more closer on site facilities or least find another suitable. It is worry of the dangers of these animals that once trees are cut down in their habitat they are disturbed great. It is not only a disruption but endangers of their livelihoods. What do you suggest as possible solution instead of transporting animals out of their homelands?

Project Proposal:Mandatory Energy Standards And Labelling

Postby Sakaryata » Fri Jan 25, 2019 4:40 am

Mandatory Energy Standards And Labeling (MESAL) would be a brief yet descriptive bill to prescribe standards for resource use efficiency and environmental sustainability in manufacturing, energy production and consumption and water and waste management. The standards would be binding on all member states part of OWCA and the enterprises within it.The standards would be phased and implemented and enforced over a period of 1 to 2 decades to maintain business competitiveness of member states. The OWCA may also advise and help non member states achieve these standards.Clauses will be provided to allow talent and technology transfer between member states to faster achieve goals.

Specifically,standards for :

1)Electricity production CO2e emissions
2)Electricity transmission, consumption, and HVAC (including fridges) efficiency
3)Auto,Arms,Chemical,Pharmaceutical,Non electric energy production, and mining industry sustainability
4)Farming runoff, energy, and other resource sustainability standards

and many more.Lets discuss it here!!!

If I have got a clearance, I will start drafting it but we need to define its scope first. Do you guys have any other things you want to regulate?

A Tax on Gasoline to Fund Carbon Offsetting Projects

Postby Middle Barael » Fri May 22, 2020 6:50 am

We propose a carbon tax on all gasoline. The tax would be around $12 US Dollars per ton, which is enough to offset the CO2 emissions produced by one ton of gasoline, or approximately 102 gallons. This would equate to less than 12¢ per gallon, which seems reasonable enough. We found this $12 amount by comparing different carbon offsetting projects, and finding a price that is on the lower end, but not so low that there are very few projects with this price. Projects with this price of $12 per ton of CO2 or less include the following:
A 100.5 MW wind farm in India
A 20 MW solar farm in Rajasthan, India
A 20 MW Biomass plant in Chhattisgarh, India
“Sidrap” wind farm in Indonesia
Clean water access in Laos
Clean water in Cambodia
Safe water access in Rwanda

Countries may raise the price if they so wish so as to better fit their minimum wages or their wage standards, or also to make it more profitable for the government (otherwise all the money collected from this tax would go to carbon offsetting).

If this bill is passed, we can extend further and include taxes on petroleum, diesel, crude oil, airplane fuel, “natural” gas, coal, and other fossil fuels.

This bill will incentivize people to switch to renewables, and if combined with a tax reduction for renewable energy users, people all over will flock to renewable energy. However, it will not effect people to heavily, meaning people who for whatever reason can’t switch over to renewables will not be hurt too badly. Even if people do not switch, it will generate enough money to fund projects that will offset most of the CO2 produced by these fossil fuels. If this bill is passed, we can use this model to create bills for taxes on other fossil fuels, and it will not cause as much uproar amongst the general populace, considering that it is not as big a leap from gasoline tax to fossil fuel tax as it is from not having any carbon taxes at all to taxing all fossil fuels.

We sincerely hope that this bill will be ratified into law, as the environment is incredibly important to us, and carbon taxes are in of the best ways to combat the climate crisis whilst not making sweeping changes.

The Holy Empire of New Edom's delegation wishes to propose the following.

1. That member states be offered the opportunity to purchase investment in cubesat (mini satellites) for communication and environmental monitoring in order to reduce the number of cables and telephone wiring.

2. That member states should be offered the opportunity to invest in hydroponics and aquaponics, which reduce the amount of arable land required to feed urban populations if introduced on a large scale.

3. That member states, especially those experiencing disasters or with water development needs, should be able to invest in Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units that can easily set up to provide several houses at a time with water filtration that eliminates dangerous microbes, parasites and toxins using light and natural filtration methods.

All the above are available through New Edom's National Science Directorate and the companies that produce them. It is further proposed that for those countries that cannot afford such development on a wide scale, that a fund be set up where other nations can provide funding for the investment.

My nations wishes to present an opportunity for renewed effort in offsetting carbon footprints:

My nations power is 95% renewable energy, around half of this comes from the Sweet Falls Dam.

One of the main companies behind my nations formation is Berry Hydroelectric, they are now asking permission to operate in members of the OWCA

This proposal I like also. Odinburgh has invested interest in hydroponics and aquaponics. This does sound promising.

Berry Hydroelectric sends their thanks, if there is any opportunity for a dam in any nation please let our delegation know.
It is a win-win for everyone really, Our corporations get business, You get energy for your nation and (of course) the environment bares less load

What environmental impact has your hydroelectric system had compared with coal, gas or or based power plants?

Berry Hydroelectric generally build them in more isolated areas, so the only problem can be noise pollution. They also have a patented way of moving wildlife from one side to the other (appropriately called the salmon cannon)

Also, please be aware that Berry Hydroelectric is NOT a national company and does NOT represent our nation in any way.
