And thanks for the tactics, now a few more questions.

-If an airship is shot from the ground, will that still change the ROE to allow any airships to be destroyed?
-In your mind, will this RP be predominantly air engagements, or will there be a land campaign as well?
-How are the people in the area responding to the escalation of conflict? Are they aiding pirates or RAS?
-Does the RAS have a foothold on the islands, or will allied forces need to fight for a beachhead?
-Is this a 'peacekeeping' or 'peacemaking' operation?


Hopefully I'm not making you think too much!

• Interesting question. I actually forgot about "flaming onions," the primary means of surface-to-air defense. It's different from the German lichtspucker from WWI, but the idea is pretty similar. Basically, a flaming onion is a sticky, flaming ball of pitch covered in tar and launched into the air by either a special cannon or a sort of giant slingshot. As one would expect, they are primarily used as defensive weapons and are generally not used when friendly ships are in the area because of their inherent inaccuracy. When enemy ships are fired upon from the ground, general practice for friendly ships is to get the hell out of dodge, but yes, once ships are destroyed by AA fire, all bets are off and it's every ship for itself.
  
  
• I was thinking more air combat, but land battles are sure to happen and sea battles are likely if anyone would prefer a seafaring vessel. Note of interest: the gondolas of many ships on both sides are shaped like the hulls of ships and can be set down in the water in an emergency once the envelope is shed.
  
  
• The people of Dehui are pretty evenly split down the middle. The Royalists (those who support the crown) generally side with the RAS, while most of the criminals and the political dissenters side with the Confederacy. Those who actually aide the Confederacy, however, generally must do so in secret if they are still living amongst the Royalists.
  
  
• The big island is still technically under RAS control, though their de facto area of influence is only the area north of the Naquit-Medo line. Due to the volatility on the big island, the RAS' main base of operations is in Port Vetreni on Helvet Island.

Cool beans; you're good to go! Yeah, I guess accuracy would suffer a bit with the larger caliber, but they were accurate enough to kill buffalo with. Accuracy will suffer a bit with a shortened barrel, though.

Short Bio: The Marchesa da Vilardino was born in the Sugaran capital roughly 40 years ago. Her mother was the Marchesa da Vilardino, of noble descent but fallen from grace. Her father? Quite possibly a house-servant from across the civilised border. Because of her mixed pedigree (un-influential nobility and unknown father), a career in the Sugaran Senate was unthinkable. So instead, Isabella made career in the Senata's largest rival, the Duralumin Delving Corp, where she started, after her mother's death, as regional administrator for a backward settlement of Sugara.

Through diplomacy and treachery, she managed to add quite a lot of extra, previously barbaric, territory to the D.D.C.'s sphere of influence and thus to the Republic of Sugara, who was heavily dependant on the corporation. Today, she is the head of the Sugaran Duralumin Delving Corporation, seated in the Capital. After making contact with another nation with roughly equal technology (a shock to Sugara, as they previously only encounter barbarian states), Isabella set with a crew of mechanics in order to establish trade contacts and knowledge exchance. Obviously, only when in favour of the DDC. Recently their Airship landed in the ports of Dehui, discovering another ST nation with a precarious political situation that just asks to be taken advantage of.

Born in an 'Barbarian nation' which was, at least 34 years ago, just outside of Sugara. Went looking for work in the Sugaran capital. Worked in the heavier sectors of the melting ovens, but attracted attention due to his talent for melting the right alloys. Probably the only reason he, as a foreigner, managed to get somewhere in the Sugaran capital. Got promoted to head mechanic in one of the 18 sectors of the capital, and later re-assigned to assistant mechanic in the engineering-designing bureau of the DDC. He was also chosen as one of the mechanics send abroad in a knowledge-exchange, and has now temporarely made port in Dehui.

Only if you have your own special ship. As part of the RAS, you'll probably just have a choice of ships already in service, unless you're planning on leading a foreign aide division like Kremistan (except, from what I understand, his guys will be arriving by sea and then using my airships). I'll post the different Fanaglian ships available with a near-full list of specs sometime in the next couple of days. Probably by Tuesday or Wednesday.

You can start being specific with your weapons now, though. I just wanted to get an idea of what kinds of characters were going to be here. If you're RAS, you'll most likely be using one of the standard-issue Tagan weapons (full list in my Factbook), unless, again, you're part of a foreign unit. If you're a pirate, you have a bit more freedom. Feel free to choose any Tagan weapon or any RL weapon that would have been made between about 1850 and 1883. If you want some sort of custom weapon or want to kind of bend the available technology, just ask.
