This forum is PG13, so suck it up. This is the big kids' pool. :p

Wait, it's PG13 rated? What about when we come across a gory part?

This next post is rated MR for matured readers and for people who got stomach for watching one guy rip the organs out of another.

EDITED: I change the ratings just for a bit of humour.

I really like the idea of an ongoing PIT factbook for characters, important NPCs (recurrent villains most importantly) and maybe even special equipment (I think of a very special red handkerchief). We could also add short reports for each case, so that we could refer to those in a possible overarching storyline.

Also, Muravyets, will we have to meet Karel's mother? She seems to be more scary than all the spider demons. :p

I wouldn't worry about it. Have you seen a PG13 movie lately? Apparently, kids mature fast these days. And we've got a moderator on board. She'll keep us in line -- won't you, Dread Lady? ;)

There's a lot of leeway, really. Tons can be written without crossing acceptable lines. Best rule of thumb is the 'common sense' bit. If you're worried it'll get you slapped, don't write it. If you're confident that it falls within the PG-13 rating, go for it. Allusion and illustration as opposed to outright crudity is your friend. Even so, a tag noting mature content has been used in the past to some success, to warn off anyone with more sensitive well ... sensibilities.

And just to keep things straight, I won't be moderating any thread I'm actively rp'ing in, were that ever to be a concern. Conflict of interest and all that. Should you have a serious question about how far you can go with something, feel free to shoot me a tg and I can at least offer an informed opinion.

Sally Fields indeed. :P

You have no idea... I think she might actually kind of like Tony. He's such a sweet fellow.

I might actually RP as her one of these days. She's got tricks up her sleeve, too.

I have a 17yr old daughter and an 8yr old son, so ... probably not. But seriously. *tucks the red-text under the rug for a while* PG-13 is actually fairly adult these days. Again, just use common sense, and it all seems to come together. If you're hearing bow-chicka-wow-wow in your head whilst writing, it's probably too much. If you're wading through blood and gore as your main focus, again, probably too much. Lots can be hinted at, alluded to, slathered with euphemisms, without coming right out and saying it.

I've written about rape, torture, wild sex, any number of things over the years, and we've managed to keep it to acceptable levels without dumbing it down. There's plenty of others who've managed it as well, though granted, we've skirted the lines rather close a time or three.

The point is, it doesn't have to be the focus. But if it is a meaningful part of the story, there's no reason it has to be skipped over. Just written with an eye towards purpose and the fact this is not a porn or gorefest site. No worries, folks. I'd say actually getting the story moving again, and laying out how we want to proceed with it is more a concern than 'omg someone flashed a breast in character'.

I'm considering re-writing the Ghostbusters theme song and make it the PIT Theme song.

EDIT: Seems like I'm going to need to watch a PG13+ movie to see how its changing since my days.

It would probably help, too, to keep in mind what kind of stories we're telling here. PIT is about paranormal investigations, right? So that's where the focus remains. Everything else has to support that or fit in with the story lines and characters -- preferably helping to advance or expand them while staying on theme. Just enough to give the right spin to the scene, but not enough to steal the focus from the story.

I actually keep a close eye on what my kids do online. He hasn't read any of my rp, and is usually too busy playing with friends, or playing vid games (of the appropriate rating for his age, thankyouverymuchdrivethrough). My daughter, I've shared some of the more fun stuff with. She got a real kick out of Karel's mom for one. ;)

Good point, Muravyets. So while we wrap up this one (hint hint), let's figure out where we're going next. I think we've got a lot of potential between characters and opportunities. Prep your character bios, we can review the factbook issues here, then get set up for the next big adventure.

Yep, that's right Muravyets and I seriously need to get my head on straight again.

Question for the Mod that I'm not going to colour in red (or am I? MUHAHAHAHAHAH!!), was there a post with a poster having: OOC: ? and did I quote and answer to it? I just got my head wizzing again.

All right, all right, hint taken. This afternoon, I'll write us getting to White Springs, and then everyone can figure out what they want to do next. Karel is going to get his shoulder fixed, of course. I'll write that in because it's character-revealing.

Tony is going to need outpatient care for a bit. He can choose whether to get that in White Springs or go to his own home.

Hebert can discharge himself from care and go home if he wants, but the doctors strongly recommend he stay in hospital for a week at the very least, with outpatient follow up for another 2. Up to him.

Anyone who wants to relax in White Springs for a while -- lie low until the furor in Dimoniquid dies down and they figure out whether PRaD is still after them -- is welcome to stay as a guest at Karel's house, which is the size of a small hotel and has a bedroom for just about everyone. I posted a pic of a model for the building front. I can offer room details if anyone asks.

I'll have Revan stay there for a few days and then catch the first flight back to Lynion for safety sake. Don't take it the wrong way but Revan perfers to be in his homeland and he knows he'll be protected there.

EDIT:

I'm going to wait and see if there's going to be a post where Granny greets the PIT Team and then I'll RP Revan going home.

Maurepas, what the hell did you just post?

EDIT: "Heading down to the shops"? WTF? Do you think they landed their plane on Main Street? Are you under the impression Karel is standing next to you so you can say, "Hey, nice place you got here?" Sheesh!

I gotta get a sandwich. Then I'll put up a real brief synopsis of the landing and Cousin Martin greeting everyone. Then, after I do that, please edit your post to make sense for Hebert going his way, please?
