Ace's Bizarre Adventure (Private)

Postby Planet Illysia » Sat Nov 17, 2018 9:59 pm

This is a private RP between me and New Castillan Empire. You can still read it, of course.

Ace's Bizarre Adventure

'Ace' Vega was Illyria's deadliest outlaw. Eleven million dollars was the price on his life, but most of his home planet was more interested in paying him to do dirty work. After a bit of a funny jumble -- of which whether Ace won or not is somewhat disputable -- with Castille's very own Nueva Uruguayan mafia, the crackshot found himself taking a bit of a vacation in Nueva Mexico. He was there and he had a handsome monetary incentive to stick around, so he set off to do some more of what he did best: dirty work. With his handy dandy smart-aleck translator sidekick, the literal felon criminal would emerge from his brief spell in the hospital ready to kick unnecessarily large amounts of ass, do some other, other kinds of dirty, drink absurd amounts of exotic drinks, and find out how to lose at every possible kind of gamble there ever was.

Finally, back on my two feet. Sure was borin' in there -- nurses ain't understand a word I said. thought Ace. His trip in the Castilian hospital was brief, but was a drag for a natural warrior like him. Unable to move, unable to fight, and it didn't help that they didn't really have anything that could entertain him. He couldn't understand what the folks on the television were saying -- not that he cared anyways -- and he frankly didn't like sleeping either. The front door of the Hospital opened to fresh air and glaring sunlight. "Well, well, well, ain't it a fine day in-- christ in heaven, it's hotter'n I though it would be. Ain't it a fine day in Space Mexico, though!" Ace began in a dramatic, rhetorical fashion. He'd fan himself with his hat for a moment. He began exploring the bustling city. He sought out something to do and quickly found that something in the form of a distant casino. He made a superspeed beeline towards it.

Soon enough, he found himself trying to ask a bartender whether or not they had a game that was pretty uncommon outside of Illysia.

"No hablo estandarte galáctico." and "No speak galactic standard." Those two phrases were all the bartender could really come up with, and Ace's attempts at charades and sign-language didn't do the trick either.
An ex-Terran colony made independent then shattered by civil war long ago. A planet of misery and suffering, with unbelievable levels of corruption, warlords and military juntas, exploitation, poverty, and general inhumanity.

Making himself comfortable on one of the barstools near Ace was a man clad in a Robin Hood-like suit, a metal cybernetic arm sticking out of a rolled-up sleep on the right, his bow slung on his back, eyeing ace as he tried to converse with the bartender. He was no stranger to the gringo; they came here all the time from Florida and Tejas, and the Italians, while a bit easier, weren't quite eaiser to touch either.

Guido was quite thirsty, though; patience was a big part of his life and career, but he needed a fair drink to get him away from the stresses of life. Luckily, he knew both English and Spanish; being able to talk out criminals in both comes in handy at times. Guido would sigh and turn to the two.

"Ey, come on, amgios, I can luckily speak English, unlike some of the other denizens around these parts. Now, what do you need, amigo? Because we're all getting thirsty around here, si." Guido said in a friendly, yet annoyed tone.

"Guess yer' the only one that speaks English around here. We call it Galactic Standard where I'm from. Anyways, I'm askin' if they've got a certain game from back home, but I'm gonna assume that's a no, anyways." Ace said, shrugging.

"Certain game, huh? What of, compadre? Blackjack? Poker? Roulette?" Guido said, having a small giggle. "I've had my fair share of pay from some of the jobs I've held down over the past few years. The casino, really, it's just a sort of place where I can have some fun with my pocket money and maybe pick up a few girls here and there."

The bartender would walk over to Guido and serve him a glass of coke mixed with a fair amount of potent alcohol, the man having a sip from it, pounding his chest as he did so. "Dios mio, that is, like, vodka strong... it's like downing a shot of rubbing alcohol. Oof, bad idea. Anyways, where'd you hail from?"

"The asshole of the galaxy, of course. Planet Illysia. That one place where child soldiers and eye-gouging neon are always no less'n a couple thousand kilometers apart." Ace explained. "Out here cuz' I shot some mafioso and now I'm taking a reward vacation." Ace didn't seem stupid enough to just blurt that out, so clearly it could be blamed on bravery, pride, or both of the two. "I'm here fer' about the same reason as you are."

"Illysia... I hear about that place alot on the news. It's only a few stars away from Sistema Quatro... it was like what India was back on Earth, where our forefathers used to all live. Down there, some places were like a depressing scene of poverty, and others were absolutely beautiful cities sprawling with life and happiness and colour and all this and that shit." Guido said, chuckling a little. "My grandpapa used to live in Old Mexico before the Great Evacuation. He has all these stories about what life was like down there. Infact, the capital was kinda like this place here, but papi lived in Tamaulipas. Humid as hell, dangerous as hell, but it was just an absolute adventure. Just tell the folks at home to be wary of Castilla; if you're the asshole of the galaxy, then we're the golden tapeworm."

"Also, wait, you said you shot mafioso?" Guido said excitedly as he leaned onto the counter. "You must be the guy who took down the Uruguayan syndicate from Oaxaca, si? We've heard the story about you from the guard. The rumor's going around like wildfire bout some sort of vigilante who stopped one of the biggest gangs and hotspots of Uruguayan Mafia influence in this part of Nueva Mexico, the city of Guadalajara."

"Of course, most of the time they point to El Flecha, the legendary bow-slinging crimefighter, senorita magnet and yours truly." He said, pointing to himself with a grin. "But the mafiosos themselves tell their own story. They saw a cowboy, a gringo with a slick tongue and a slicker gun. I'm guessing they mean you, no? You are basically the image."

"Anyways, did you say crimefightin'? Tell me about that."

"Anyways, did you say crimefightin'? Tell me about that."

"You must be either very skillful or really lucky, amigo. The Mafia are a tricky business, and facing them head-on is basically another form of suicide, or more-so self brutality. If you lost that battle, you would've gotten the Scarecrow for sure. I'm guessing, since you are a gringo, you do not know of the Scarecrow, but just be glad you don't." Guido said, taking an arrow from his quiver and inspecting it.

"Oh, the crimefighting, amigo? Heh... well, it's a nice business that pays well. Sometimes. If it's a raid on a drug cartel or gang outpost, you can keep a fair amount of gold from it. If the guardias show up, I just hand them a good amount of reals and they'll turn the blind eye, because, while it's illegal, it's not necessarily enforced unless you get a tough-ass cop that you usually just have to fork out a little more. But the real reward is in your popularity and namesake as the alter ego; I mean, by day, I'm just Guido Gonzalez, working his ass off in a souldarite mine on Antonio, one of the twin moons of Nueva Mexico, but by night El Fleche comes out and put a nice arrowhead in the bad guys.

It's quite a bit of work though... you got to do everything all stealthy because you can never expect how many there'll be in one go or how heavily they're armed and so on. Plus, it takes a toll on me emotionally every so often because I can't save everyone, especially because all the girls know of El Fleche whether or not it's just stories or my costumed appearances at a nightclub on the often quiet weekends, and a number of them fantasize about being heroically saved by the Robin Hood of Guadalajara, and they, with their 200 IQ brains, go out onto the streets at the dead of night just so they can get taken in by the thugs and get raped or mugged or otherwise, hoping their El Fleche comes to save him so she can have her romance fantasy on. I mean, I try to get as many as I can see with my friend's orbital drone that I 'borrowed' from him, by which I mean hacked, really. But don't get too excited, it's not all girls. In fact, most of the time, it's just saving drunken idiots from mugging, breaking up fistfights, scaring off the teenage graffiti artists, maybe stopping a bank heist or two or endulging in the guilty pleasure on de-clamping a few hovercars every-so-often.

But at the end of the day, or the morning of it, you'll be just plain smiling as you sip your cup of coffee and watch the news as the reporters roll-call the people and criminals who have, once again, been met friendly or not by El Fleche. That's what crimefighting is, amigo; justice with benefits."

"It's skill, buddy. The mafioso ain't shit and they wasn't shit then either." boasted the outlaw, who gave a chuckle. "Pretty sure they wanted to cut m'tongue out, but a little hard to do that when yer' dead." He chuckled and crossed his arms.

"Ain't that somethin'. We talkin' ideals, eh? Well, I never really cared for fame, but bein' the talk'a the town certainly wouldn't hurt." Ace said, shrugging. "So what if it's mostly not girls? In another world, we'd be enemies, but fer' now, I'm on vacation, offerin' to help you out fer' a while. Keep me out of the lame shit, though; I'm here for fightin'. Hear it pays well. Ace sighed. "Who knows. Maybe I'll get used to it and become some sorta lame Texas Red outlaw-killer...." He was silent for a bit. "Nah, yeah, corporate sabotage is my callin', but right now, I'm Ace: vacation-time vigilante. That sounds purty damn stupid but that's how it is, I guess.

In another world, we'd be enemies, but fer' now, I'm on vacation, offerin' to help you out fer' a while. Keep me out of the lame shit, though; I'm here for fightin'. Hear it pays well. Maybe I could pay off my own bounty!" Ace cracked himself up, giving a hearty, wheezy laugh. "Get to work fer' mostly scot free fer' a bit when I head on home."

Ace sighed.

"Well, to be honest, the call isn't gonna come up alot, so be prepared for that." Guido said with sincerity as he leaned in suddenly. "But a little birdie told me later this night that the Víbora gang is planning to heist a ported naval ship full of gems and minerals. They're coming in a league of at least seven or eight party members, armed with guns, crossbows and lightsabers. I'd ring up the rest of my comrades who I usually work alongside in operations like this with organised gangs and cartels, but I feel you and I alone could take them. But that's, like, 12AM, and it's only seven, despite how dark it all looks outside. Plus, I think they're busy gathering intel on another op, an epic joint mission between the Mendoza cartel, the Floridian Bloods and the Uruguayan Mafia. Don't know exactly what it's about, but they won't really relay any information to me at the moment."

Guido then sighed as he laid back onto his stool. "I suppose, if we get an update, I might be on the go for it, If I'm not stuck grabbing ass in Monte Carlo or hitting up Vibora with you. I'm just going to lay it here, though, and don't take me bad for it, but I'm just going to say the gang's going to be extremely wary of you while you're with me, because you're a million-dollar outlaw who's probably been spending it solo, and working in a group for you is... let's just say for MY attitude alone, I don't get the best of reputations in the group, 'cause at least one or two of my guys are going to be tightass on you as soon as you spit out that little bio of yours. And not to worry, they all speak English."

Guido then hopped off the chair and slid the arrow he was holding back into his quiver. "Anyways, amigo, we've got, like, hours on end to massacre before the big job, so... you wanna do something in the meantime?"

"Excited to meet 'em. I'll hold off on the killer background fer' now. That's a pretty normal engagement fer' me, so we could definitely do this just the two of us, especially if we ambush'em." Ace began. "But, fer now, yeah. Let's kill time." Ace said.

(Sure thing.)
Flash forward to 12:00 AM, Veracuz Naval Port.

"No hacer un puto movimiento, y haremos vivo de esto, ¿de acuerdo?" A robber, clad in a colourful mask and 18th century-looking garbs, stated as he held a sparklock pistol to the head of one of the workers while the other one hogtied another, with two of the odd-looking criminals moving out some large crates and a third wielding an activated lightsaber marching in front of them, looking out for any others. Mounted on buildings to the left and right of the ship would be two single marksmen wielding scoped sparklock muskets and bright underbarrel flashlights to seek out targets in the dark, looking around the area carefully.

As Ace and Guido left on their mission to foil the heist, the both of them would be in an alleyway, very closeby to the port. Guido knew that only one of the other routes would be patrolled by guards, but he didn't feel like foiling his element of total surprise, as even if he could very easily just take out a guard, the pattern with the Viboras was their thugs would always keep updated on guarding duty. In front of Guido was a wall that had many ledges he could climb up Assassin's Creed-style easily; another being a set of stairs for Ace to walk up if he couldn't do parkour, then a clothesline he'd be able to zipline on.

Before the plan would begin, Guido would look to Ace.

"Alright, amigo... here's the plan. We don't go loud right off the bat; we need to take their asses down as quietly as we can. If we get a shootout, then it's going to probably startle the shit out of the whole town, and the media considering how rich people tend to be here. Vigilantes like us aren't celebrated here, they're despised, si? So we'll have to keep low on this job and make sure we do what we do, maybe pocket some rubies if you feel like it, and get in and out like a pitote in a Sangrelfan puta, ay?" Guido whispered clearly. "So, first thing is we're going to have to mount this roof behind me... you any good at climbing, amigo?"

Ace smirked. "I can do ya one better." He'd squat, and then leap up and catch the top ledge with his robot arm. His exoskeleton, silent, had granted him incredible strength to, with surprising quietness, leap up. "I'll get a look out." He whispered down, and began spying on the gangsters. His scouter provided him with extensive combat information, but he made sure to use just his eyes to make sure the snipers don't see them.

Ace drew his gun but kept it turned off, since it was a major thermal give-away, even in comparison to his body. "They've got two snipers...flashlights. Three guards visible. One melee, the two others with gun. Melee guard on patrol, armed guards busy with workers. I recommend we try to silently take down the snipers. They could be put down without the three guards noticin'." Ace said. As prideful as Ace was, it was impressive that he still thought clearly and planned things out.

Guido would climb up and reach, amazed by Ace's leaping, before Ace explained the circumstances. He, himself, was certainly surprised that after first appearances, Ace would be able to analyse the situation that quickly and assess a plan.

Guido himself had drawn his bow, readying an arrow that had a sharp, pronged tip. "Alright, I've got sights on the two snipers there. I'd usually use K.O. rounds, but unfortunately at this range they'll either miss or not make full impact, so a throat or headshot is the only way we can guarantee the sniper's outage. Before I take them out, though, you got to position yourself where you can take out the ones on the ground floor quickly, maybe somewhere on the roof of the cargo ship. After I've taken down the snipers and you start the action; I'll hop down soon after and help you wherever I can; then we'll find the big boss who usually shows up here and take him in alive. I don't give any shits whatsoever about the thugs, just make sure the boss gets it non-lethally." Guido said as he activated his own visor and pulled back the arrow, keeping an eye on the area around.

"Just get into position, and I'll give you a whistle. Once it happens, I'll take town the snipers, and you raise hell from the roof down behind the other guys, and I'll provide you cover from the front of the building, because the snitch said there'd be at least 12 there counting the boss, si? Afterwards, we're going to track down the boss before he gets away and make sure he's got some life still in him when we take him down, alright? Oh, and if you find any hogtied workers, just get them out of bonds, si?" Guido said, taking a bowie knife from his cloak and handing it to Ace. "Use this. They double knot their hogties, so you'll be wasting time trying to untie it."

"I've already got a knife. Keep it." Ace said. He popped up on top of the roof, and braced himself for a giant jump with a running start. He wasn't so sure in Guido's abilities and kept an eye on the snipers himself. He waited to see how Guido would faire against them, and activated his revolver. The plasma gun whirred to life, making as little noise as a camera's flash unit coming to life.

He could only wait. For now, he began to recall his fight with the mafioso. He made many mistakes that cost him heavy injury. For one, his initial shots were reliant on the assumption that the mafioso were slow. When they scattered, his barrage of shots missed and took down an underwhelming number of infantry. He didn't plan ahead, and wasn't able to take out the more high-priority enemies fast enough. But what could he have changed? Was he not aggressive enough? Probably. He played the fight too safely and ironically came out worse because of it. Or would he be in worse shape if he was aggressive? He'd have to figure that out.

Images of home, his allies, and even some of his happier experiences in the line of combat replaced this analysis and readied him for battle. He was a damned brigand, but he was a brigand with something to fight for, and his pride was hurt. He was going to make sure he would never let another set of lowly gangsters turn him into swiss cheese again. That was a fact to him.

He was going to make sure he would never let another set of lowly gangsters turn him into swiss cheese again. That was a fact to him.

Guido then took a deep breath as he held it in, readying himself mentally as he took a somewhat dark turn in his vigilantism. He wouldn't give a shit about hurting people, but he'd usually give a major shit about killing people, because it wasn't part of his line. Add to the fact that they could only be so discrete in a place like this, and you get a recipe for cuperous amounts of stress.

Holding his breath for better accuracy, Guido readied his bow, firing one arrow which turned around like a boomerang and hit one of the snipers straight through the scope and impaling it through his eye socket, then rapidly drawing and firing another one which hit the other in the throat.

"Now!" Guido called out as he leaped down from the building, landing on a shop's verandah and then rolling onto the floor where he met with another gangster, quickly drawing his pistol crossbow and shooting him with a lethal round through his chest, then holding the pistol and sidestepping one who was charging at him with a light-dagger from behind and proceeded to shoulder-throw him onto the floor as the criminal thrusted the dagger forward before drawing his own falchion and swinging it at a distance that would have slit the man's throat, making a face that was like a mixture of regret and adredalin and standing still for a moment before looking on to where Ace would land.

The three criminals were alerted as they heard some of the commotion, the armed guards turning away from the hostages to look around for any potential enemies, the hogtying one pulling out a crossbow and the two dropping the crate they were moving and pulling out their own weapons: a blunderbuss and a lightsaber-pike.

Ace bolted across the rooftop. He'd steel himself and kept his eyes on the target. His toes slammed against the edge of the rooftop. His body slammed downwards into a crouching position, and he sprung forward. Before anyone knew it, Ace was performing a tremendous leap, practically flying from the rooftop towards the ship. Casually cruising in mid-air, Ace squinted at the three guards below.

"You're mine." He mumbled to himself.

BANG!

An x-shaped bolt of plasma punched through all three of the guards on deck.

"One. Two. Three."
Ace counted to himself. "Plus two...seven more to go."

Bam! His metal boots made touchdown with the boat floor, and he rapidly looked around for enemy reinforcements. "Cover me!" Ace called out to Guido, not naming names for subtlety's sake. He began to untie the hostages with his knife in his robot arm while keeping a lookout with his gun in his other.

The freed hostages, 2 male workers and one a female, got up after having been untied by Ace.

"Gracias, amigo." One of the male workers got out before running away from the scene as they were soon put under the fire of what assumed was a pistol. Guido took sight of this and ran over to Ace as he pulled another arrow from his quiver and curved its' arc to hit the criminal who pointed another loaded pistol at the group, impaling his hand onto the wall behind him, causing him to scream out in agonizing pain.

Guido would then roll over in front of Ace, seeing two criminals behind him who were readying melee weapons, one a crowbar and the other the pike. Guido would quickly scream for Ace to duck, and when he did, Guido would put two arrows on the string and fire them both into the enemies behind him, sending them staggering into a ledge and landing them in the water behind him, drowning them.

"Hoo; I never liked hostage situations. Just another damn side mission I cannot lose. Like, I just can't, you know?" Guido said as a musket shot exploded next to Guido, startling him as he reacted by firing an arrow into the window the shot was fired from quickly, narrowly missing as the musketman changed positions.

"Mierda! I'm going to chase down the sharpshooter real quick, I'll be back in a moment! Take down any of the criminals you can see, alright? Once I come back, we're storming the boat and looking for the boss, okay? He's most likely in either one of the cabins or at the captain's quarters!" Guido relayed as he leaped onto a ledge and parkoured his way into a window to chase down the marksman. A moment or so after Guido left, a pair of criminals arrived, one wielding a blunderbuss and the other with dual crossbow pistols, and as soon as they saw him, they'd begin to open fire. If Ace hadn't shot them beforehand, they'd then quickly drop their guns and unsheath a ball-peen hammer and a lightsaber cutlass and charge at him.

Ace leaped out of the way, and then charged at the two bandits. He'd let out a vicious war cry and take them head on. He'd shoot out the hammer and send the first bandit flying overboard with a hook from his powerful robot arm, then drew back as a slash from the energy sword came his way. He'd quickly slip past two more slashes, before the bandit swung at his waist. The Illysian outlaw jumped over it and delivered a flying roundhouse kick to the other bandit's head, sending him careening into a wall. He'd look out for any other shooters, scanning with his scouter and saw none that were an immediate threat to him. He gave a brief glance to make sure the hostages were escaping alright.

Suddenly, out of one of the windows, the body of the marksman was flung out of the window, landing onto the floor as Guido landed on him and rolled for safety, then walking to Ace.

"Alright, hostages got out fine? Good." Guido said with haste. "Boss is probably in the captain's quarters, no doubt he's probably going to kick the boat up to make his getaway. We gotta get onto the boat before he boots the thing up and look for him, si?" The archer said as he motioned for Ace to follow him.

Some time later, inside the captain's quarters, the Captain would be tied up, two men armed with double-barrel blunderbusses waiting beside the door incase the two would come in, the boss also holding his lightsabre to his side, him being a Carbeza clad in similar style to the other criminals.

"Por favor, deixa-me ir! Vou darche toda a carga, só obtén-me para fóra!" The captain cried out as the boss simply pistol-whipped him in the side of his head, causing him to bleed a fair bit.

"¡Cállate, escoria de Westoroso! ¡Y habla español, no gallego!" The angry hammerhead scowled as Guido and Ace would show up at the door and activate his visor, enabling him to see some silhouettes through walls.

"Alright, they've taken the captain hostage and the boss just sits there... but there's two guards waiting beside the door for us. The only way we can take them out without us being turned to Swiss cheese is for me to use a nail grenade, but that's going to hurt the captain." Guido said before turning to Ace. "Got any ideas?"

Ace rolled his robotic shoulder a bit. "I can deal with one of 'em, and then the other'll be easier to deal with from there. Hragh!" Ace punched a hole through the wall. His fist went through and slammed into the back of one of the guards, launching him across the room, and then Ace quickly pulled his fist out. He was betting on the fact that they wouldn't kill the hostage so that they could, well, take a hostage and protect themselves.

"Do someth'n, quick!" Ace barked to Guido.

Guido, still in shock from Ace managing to Doomfist his way into a guard, scrambled for one of his K.O. rounds and aimed into the hole as he fired in yet another curve, knocking out the boss as the heavy, blunt tip slamming the alien's head against the wall and startled him, causing him to drop the gun. Startled by the boss flying, the boss fired a big hole into the wall with his blunderbuss, Guido staggering back as the guard picked up his pistol, the archer replying by quickdrawing his crossbow pistol and impaling his hand on the wall yet again, then walking up to the screaming thug as he yanked out the bolt and then swifty kicked the man in the jaw. knocking him out. Guido then grabbed his bowie knife and undid the bonds on the captain. It was lucky Guido could also speak some Galician; came in handy alot of the time.

"Oh gracias a Deus, Capitán, ¿vale vostede?" Guido asked, speaking fluent Galician.

"Estou ben, amigo ... un pequeno golpe na cabeza." The captain replied, blood from his head getting on his fingers.

"Ben, amigo, simplemente sae de aquí e vai a un hospital. Se preguntan, nada aconteceu e chamar a cabeza nun sinal de rúa, bo, amigo?" Guido commanded as the captain nodded and ran off. Guido sighed, before turning back to ace.

"Hoo, job well done amigo. I mean, that punch through the wall, though... I'd reckon you'd give Quickfists a run for her money. She's another one of my friends. Real looker, too. Anyways, let's get out of here, si?" Guido stated.

"These arms'a mine packs a stupid punch." Ace boasted with a chuckle. "Yeah, can't wait to meet her. Let's scram." He'd twirl his revolver lightning fast like a fan and holster it.

Guido would chuckle at the notion before him and Guido would run away from the scene, being just in time for the guards to run over to the sit soon after, having not seen the duo. Sirens would be wailing in the distance as Ace and Guido would march back onto the streets some time later.

"Anyways, you were honestly pretty impressive by yourself. By which I mean you'd literally put some of my colleagues out of their jobs. They're actually not bad themselves, though. We've been thinking of turning ourselves into a league, but for now we're just like a bunch of amigos who hang out every so often and kick ass. Like, major ass. That heist we did by ourselves would usually be the whole team's work." Guido stated, twirling an arrow in its' hand before screwing tight the loosened tip and shoving it back into its' holster.

"I mean, shit, you've obviously done something like this before, no? It's obvious, really... the amount of cooperation we had to pull off compared to what I admittedly expected was absurd. I thought I'd be the one barking orders, but it seems you had it in the bag from the start. Where did that come from, compadre?" Guido said, nudging the outlaw.

"I'll be honest with ya. Somethin' like it. Back on Illysia, I did corporate sabotage, which is just kind lingo fer' 'I busted into the headquarters of a corporation and killed all their paramilitary and then stole or broke somethin' important'. I've worked with a few partners here'n there, usually assigned to me by my bigger clients fer' bigger ops." Ace explained. "Got plenty'a connections now, too."
