Charlotte didn't think herself impolite as she stood silently. It wasn't like Charles or the other boy had spoken up either. If anything, fitting in polite society meant watching what you did say, and it was always pretty safe to hold one's tongue, no point contributing to a conversation if you had nothing to add. She had already acknowledged their presence when they had came over from across the room with a nod and it wasn't as if she were blanking them, ignoring them completely. Her eyes and ears were certainly paying attention to them, even if her voice remained temporarily unemployed. Cece had been talking about the event itself, the Silver Jubilee, and it prompted her to think that it would only be a couple of years before her father was due such an event - assuming he would last that long, who knew. Of course, she would be there, even if she didn't want to be, although tonight had already shown her that she could enjoy these affairs more so than she had previously thought. Maybe she would see more of Enrikos at future events. Maybe she would see more of him in a few short minutes, once they could get some space. Charlotte started to lose herself in thoughts as she waited for the Cinyroite Crown Prince to see the entourage off.
Enrikos pursed his lips and forced a smile at Cece’s comment. Yes, it was a great honor and thing of celebration for his father, yadda, yadda. He had heard all of that from his father, his mother and half of the kingdom for weeks now. He got it. His father refused to die just yet and that was a great achievement for... some reason.
“Yes, yes, let’s just hope that I am not silver and gray by the time I actually get a chance to sit on the throne.” Enrikos rolled his eyes as he spoke to Cece, forgetting for a moment he was trying to get rid of her. “I have no desire to grow old in all the years of waiting like the Grand Dauphin. After all, should all eyes lay on the rising sun? Not the setting one.”
