The provinces of Almorea were Noronnican colonies until 1763, so the slave trade would have formed a part of the colonial economy. Various governments of Almorea post-independence would have discouraged it in the face of popular opposition (slave labor would drive wages down), although the owners of large farming estates would have clamored in Congress for legalization.
A large part of opposition to the slave trade, especially in the 18th century, would have stemmed from the ethnicity of the slaves- Almoreans would be very uncomfortable working people from D&S or elsewhere as slave labor.
