So what is the "cookie coup" that Chris and Cel are thinking of?

The idea, more or less a joke, is to sell poisoned cookies near administration buildings in authoritarian countries to get rid of their regimes. It comes from a conversation about conspiracy theories and cookies in the first evening in Dumhach.

Sadly that won't work in Portugal. Salazar's Inquisitors (state security police) are like the Gestapo on steroids, and the 2001 Citizen Safety Law just made them scarier.

The administration buildings are behind multiple layers of tight checkpoints. Not even most Portuguese citizens are allowed to enter. The government transports are armored and airtight (Portuguese high officials never walk among their subjects), so good luck putting anything inside. And that's if they even get this far. Foreign foods are not allowed in Portugal, so your heroes would be detained and/or interrogated as soon as they tried to cross the border from Spain.

And Stella Dorata ... is that another ultra-religious fascist state? I think Salazar has found a new ally.

Honestly, I've already assumed that it's nearly impossible. It was just a quick thought by Chris and Cel, remembering their idea how to initiate a coup in the Republic of Stella Dorata.
That being said, no, the RSD isn't really ultra-religious; it is more of a military dictatorship. It belongs to the Lillöer-Archipelago, so it is in Lillorainen's neighborhood. Historically, it has belonged to one of Lillorainen's predecessor states, until it declared independence 200 years ago - still, the Stelladoriani are essentially 'Lillos' in a wider sense. Since there are territorial disputes between them and one of Lillorainen's States, there is some Cold War there. The RSD also is known for funding terrorists who try some attacks and coups every now and then, and they are the only country in the world that does not recognize the Federation of Lillorainen as existing. One could feel reminded of East and West Germany a bit, with the difference that both, in principle, do not seek to represent the entire archipelago.
Aside from that, yes, Portugal has a cool emblem. ^^

There's two writing contests I'd like to get to, plus my other roleplays, so I'm not certain if I'll be able to get a post out quite yet. Also, I'd like to wait to throw out my post once someone's scenes are in the evening, in part because I'm not certain as to what to write about aside from what I've set my mind to.
