Greater and greater swathes of Eristyain lands have fallen under the plough in the preceding months as Noctish expeditionary forces secured control over the entire northern coast of Eristys, along with sizeable portions of the adjoining hinterlands. Contact with a few of the native groups of the island has resulted in their swearing allegiance to the Noctish State in exchange for internal autonomy in their own affairs. The Commissariat for the Preservation of Culture has called the expeditions "a rousing success", as among other things numerous artefacts of ancient inhabitants of the Isle of Isolation, both natives and foreign settlers alike, have been discovered by our intrepid trekkers. Today as well marks the last day of military and civilian transfers from Tol Bandir, with the remaining forces and inhabitants of that Isle being settled in Eristys. Operations in Eristys, dubbed "of immense strategic importance" appear to be going well.

In a terse diplomatic statement, the Commissariat of Foreign Affairs has announced the Noctish State's recognition of Cervidas' claims to Auruumite territory, citing the "unchecked, rapid, and aggressive" expansion of the goblin state as "something for the international community to deal with, perhaps harshly." It is the duty of all civilized states to punish the reckless abandon of the barbarian hordes, lest the light of civilization be snuffed out by the darkness of savagery. The Commissariat of Foreign Affairs has thus far remained silent on the current Cervidas-Acadian affair.

Shurayu War Hero Named Nouvel Acadie's Newest Duke

At an elaborate ceremony today at the Royal Palace, Queen Marie-Collette de Gaspé announced the establishment of a new Duchy, and installed a new Duke, for recently acquired lands in the interior of Archon.

In a historic first for the Royaume, an ethnic Shurayu, Namtar dol Zorudef, was named to the Royal Council at a banquet attended by three dozen Dukes and Duchesses and numerous dignitaries from the financial, business, and arts worlds.

In introducing dol Zorudef to the assembly, the Queen lauded his efforts on behalf of the Royaume in the recent response to Roman attacks.

“Namtar dol Zorudef is a veteran Commander in the Storm Sharks Mercenary Company that aided us in response to the cowardly attacks on Nouvel Acadie by the Romans. He successfully coordinated and lead the assault against the Roman Imperium on their own soil. His heroism on our behalf marks a new high point in the relationship between the Royaume and Haja-Mishu.

Our newest Duke hails from the Great Shurayu House, House Zorudef, and is a strict follower of the Tenets of Atrahasis. I know he shares the same love of liberty that characterizes the Acadien way of life. He is also no stranger to the Royaume, being having many investments in many of our restaurants and ranches, with extensive ties to the ex-patriot Shurayu population in Colonie de l’Anse. As the owner of a glass factory, his new duchy will provide ample resources for further economic development.”

The new Duchy, located just inland of the Free City of Colonie de l’Anse, will be known by the Shurayu name of Hurāsaštû [pronounced Who-Rah-Sahsh-Too], meaning “Golden Throne". French documents will refer to the area as Houraçachetoux. Plans for the building of city centers have already been designed for the Duchy.

The Dukes full title is Namtar dol Zorudef, Sagān-Hurāsaštû.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to say, we do have coming in, confirmed reports of a nuclear detonation on Harren Island. Prokopios in the Heartlands has been hit by a Nuclear device. I repeat, confirmed reports of a nuclear detonation in Prokopios.

The detonation occurred today at quarter past three in the afternoon, almost an hour ago, and as of right now, no state has publicly claimed responsibility. What we do know is that Prokopios was under Asgarthian aerial and ground assault at the time but it is believed that they also sustained casualties in the blast. More information will be released on that as we get it.

It seems that the primary target was the University of Harren in Prokopios, known to be the seat of government for the Harrenian Heartlands. Coming just after Director Lockwood’s public appeal for a negotiated peace, this seems to be a pointed message demanding only unconditional surrender.

The Heartlands government has declared a state of emergency and is requesting medical and humanitarian aid for the people of Prokopios. They’ve released preliminary casualty estimates; one hundred and thirteen thousand dead, eighty thousand critically wounded and a further three hundred thousand in need of medical attention. Even with Prokopios and Emi intact, the Heartlands would have lacked the capacity to treat these numbers. It is unknown whether the Asgarthian forces, that were in the process of encircling Prokopios at the time, will now render assistance.

“Prokopios is no longer a theatre of war, we have ordered all forces we are in contact with there to lay down arms and to assist with rescue efforts. An emergency meeting is underway to determine the fate of the Heartlands but consider this the official surrender of Prokopios and its defenders to Asgareth.”.

There is a burst of static and sound which erupts across all radio and television frequencies. Closer inspection reveals that it’s not the sound of static which is rupturing all channels, it is the sound of hundreds of thousands of voices all speaking over one another. The vision of static continues on the televisions, and closer inspection doesn’t reveal anything in particular. . . until . . .
A face forms out of the negative spaces in the void between snow.

There’s a pause, it might seem as if the transmission is stuttering or skipping, but it resumes after a few seconds.

Government Press Statement on International Conflict and the Events on Harren Island, Friendly Island and the Isle of Gespe

My fellow Asgarthians, citizens of the world, I speak to you today to reflect on a series of events that have unravelled whilst Asgareth has participated in its peace keeping missions across the world. Tonight I will reflect upon Archon, wherein the majority of our troubles have begun.

I can tonight confirm that a hydrogen bomb was detonated, by our glorious military on the island of Harren. It is not Asgarthian policy to lightly use weapons of mass destruction. To date, this remains our only usage of a WMD in recent times, and we did so with a heavy heart. We are viewed as the keepers of the peace across the charter. Our efforts in Meridia and Rusina do not go unnoticed by the wider community, who are no doubt grateful for our mere presence in these theaters. The detonation of the nuclear device, in the city of Prokopios, was deemed necessary as a direct result of the decision by the goblins to attack our troops, who were moving towards Prokopios as part of a peacekeeping force. This was a direct violation of a previous spoken agreement between our nation and that of the uncivilised goblins. The betrayal threatened the lives of many Asgarthian troops, and so we did the one thing we could do to avoid them dying dishonourable deaths. The nuking of the city took out wide portions of goblin forces, to our delightment. Whilst we express our sorrow for the loss of Harrenite citizens and Asgarthian troops, their sacrifice will not be in vain. The war is almost won. Another influencing factor in the deployment of the bomb, was the inhumane treatment the Harrenties were facing under Auruumite rule. Naturally, the civilised world should not be surprised that these sub creatures tortured and ate children, for their own amusement. Asgareth could not stand idly by whilst they continued to mistreat innocents.

I would now like to discuss the events on Yanni. It is with great sadness that we must report our ally, Skjoldur, has betrayed the allied powers and opted to attack, and subjugate the people of Yanni. Asgareth gave the Skjoldurians an opportunity to evacuate the city without further issue, but the Skjoldurians took it upon themselves to punish the citizens further. Thousands were taken from their homes and forced into primitive longboats, no doubt en route to Skjoldur. I have spoken to several residents who escaped, who all spoke of the barbarity of the Skjoldurians, who raped, killed and tortured citizens. It is believed they went as far as to rip babies from their mothers arms, and bite their heads off. Asgareth strongly condemns the burning of Yanni, and the torture and kidnapping of its citzens.

Now, I will focus on the recent, unprovoked attack on Asgarthian ships near Harren Island. Alongside the fine nations of Rome and Caerlegion, our crews have been tirelessly offering aid to the island, whilst the Auruumites continue to blow up supplies or else sell food at unaffordable prices, clearly looking to profiteer on misfortunes of these poor, innocent, helpless Harrenites. In a completely unpredicted, and unprovoked attack, the goblins used several implosion bombs to target our ships, and those of the Romans and Caerleggi crews. A detachment from the 12th Fleet sustained serious damage, with the A.B.S. Larkinus and A.D.S. Gasgog confirmed lost. We have also failed to hear from the A.C.S. Taskina or the A.D.S. Waskia, but at this stage fear them lost as well. The attack was timed to act as a surprise for all affected fleets, and such actions… such war crimes must not go unpunished. I therefore pledge to the world to bring justice against these goblin warlords, and urge their master, the Valyrien Empire, to take better control of their hounds. I now speak, to the trade king himself. Asgareth is willing to accept your surrender, but should you try to attack us again, a state of war will exist between us.

I will now turn my attention away from Harren, and discuss the events on the so-called "Friendly" Island. These creatures threaten the very heart of civilisation. They infect the blood stream with spores, that swiftly begin to warp your mind. Soon, you become like them. A mushroom. The efforts of the Asgarthians and Romans on the island should be warmly applauded globally. These friendlies seek to destroy humanity, and all sub-creatures, goblin, barbarian and Roman alike. Asgareth has committed to a policy of firebombing the island, in an attempt to prevent the spread of these spores. A blockade has been set up, preventing anyone leaving the island. Travel to and from the Archoni Isles is also prohibited as a precautionary measure. These friendlies look to take over the world, but we here in Asgareth shall defend civilisation with all our might. It saddens us greatly, that so few are prepared to make the stand, and we warmly congratulate our allies for assisting. To the nations of Rusina, Meridia, Epilo and Archon we call on you. Fight these spores, for they will not spare you.

Finally, I would like to focus on the recent, and shameful, attack on the Acadian fleets at the Port of Soissons. As you will surely know, a small fleet recently hit the Port of Soissons, adjacent to the Isle of Gespe. Rumours have begun to circulate suggesting that Asgarthian ships were used to attack fleets and planes. Thankfully, both the Acadians and ourselves can confirm that these ships were hijacked by skilled Roman crews, who swiftly carried out the attack. No Asgarthian played a part in the attack, and we urge the world to ignore any forged footage suggesting we did so. Asgareth has tremendous respect for the Acadians, whom we have regularly defended against tyranny in Meridia. Our relations are stronger than ever, and we hope to see them strengthen. Asgareth strongly condemns the attack on Soissons.

As you have no doubt noticed, Asgareth has been the victim in every confrontation. We do not want war. This much is clear. We are peace keepers, but we pledge to continue to fight tyranny and injustice across the world.

Large Military Exercises in Slavacia

Slavcian Paratroopers During Last Year's Exercise

Today, the Ministry of Defense has made a statement, in which they have announced an upcoming military exercise of unprecedented scale. "These exercises are aimed at strengthening our defense potential, as well as showing any other nations, that we can, and will defend ourselves." said the Spokesperson for the MoD, Major-General Sergei Sokolov. These exercises also come in response to the crisis currently unfolding on the continent of Meridia. The ministry has announced that the exercise will involve the launch of several silo and submarine based ballistic missiles as well as large scale airborne landings and tank maneuvers.

The air-defense of the nation, will also go on high alert during the exercises, the Ministry of Defense reminded. This means that any aircraft that violate Slavacian airspace during that time, will be shot down with minimal warning. They urged foreign nations to refrain from provocation during this time. More information will be available as it develops.

Oil Tanker Hijacked in West Rusinian Sea

The Teomonn, an oil tanker in the service of the Maritime Administration, has been hijacked off the southern coast of Sintuvel early this morning. The captain, one Iain Aldair, along with most of the crew, managed to make their way to the island-base of Occlusi several hours after the incident, having apparently been evicted from the ship onto its lifeboats. Remains of the ship were found shortly thereafter in Point D'vur, the Asgarethi outpost in northwestern Archon, thousands upon thousands of tons of oil drenching the beaches and coastlines of the outpost.

Preliminary testimony by the captain and the crew of the ship places blame for the incident on Asgarethian freebooters, or rebels with some sort of message, raising fears over increases in pirate activity in the western seas. Naval activity, both military and otherwise, have increased dramatically in the past few months as the various Rusinic empires have begun a westward march, resulting in tensions and conflict over the Friendly and Harren Islands. Although, as ever, the Ubiquitoriate is expected to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.

Representatives of the Maritime Administration and the Noctish Navy have promised a "swift, decisive reprisal" against the perpetrators of the hijacking, once the full breadth of the matter has been uncovered.

Lupis: The Senate will also today consider a motion to effectively cut all diplomatic ties with the goblin filth. If the motion passes it will serendipitously coincide with an official request from the Imperial palace to the Valrisk Emperor to discipline his wayward vassal.

Lupis: Speaking of new borders, scientists of the Imperial Advisory Board have issued a stark warning that portions of western Archon have begun to sink into the sea.

Cincia: Preliminary research seems to indicate that the excessive amounts of recent Asgarthian settlers in the region is to blame. The extreme weight of these corpulent individuals may see the western territories all but disappear in the next few years, scientists have claimed, and a private think tank has sent a request to their leader to either vacate or take up jogging.

The fact that the hijacked ship was able to land uncontested in Asgarthian territory, as well as the alleged instability in the upper echelons of the Asgarthian government has convinced Roman High Command that Asgareth can no longer be relied upon to protect the region from enemy forces.

Tanker Hijacking Prompts Renewed Security Interest in Archon

In response to the hijacking and scuttling of the oil tanker Teomonn in the previous month, the Commissariat of Overseas Affairs has approved of further security measures in the Western Seas. This has included the establishment of a new outpost on the Archonian mainland itself, between Point D'vur, where the Teomonn was scuttled, and Samatrak, the nearest naval base in the area. In response to Harrenian and 'Friendly' expansion into the fringes of Eristys, the Dominion of Eristys has dispatched military forces into the southeastern parts of the island to deter any threats to the Noctish presence in the area.

Following a thorough investigation, the Department of State Security has uncovered the involvement of "Harrenian forces" in the hijacking of the Teomonn and its subsequent scuttling in Asgarethi territory. The news has been met with a sour response by the other government ministries, with the head of the Ubiquitoriate stating that "we could have done it far better had the Harrenians simply asked us." Nevertheless, both State Security and the Navy have announced their intention to send a task force to the Harren Island in order to punish those responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile elements of the Southern Expedtionary Fleet have established an outpost on one of the southernmost islands in the Charter, to be used as both a research outpost into the viability of permanent settlement in the southernmost seas, and a base for further Noctish operations in the area. Worries over potential Slavonic nuclear testing in the area have been allayed by the deployment of basic anti-missile defences, to be upgraded once the viability of the frozen outpost has been determined to be satisfactory.

Breaking News: Submarine Disaster in the Southern Sea

RS-85 Pobeda in port, shortly after commissioning

The Ministry of Defense has announced in a statement today, that a brand-new nuclear powered cruise missile submarine armed with four nuclear warheads, the Project 899-class RS-85 Pobeda, has sunk during exercises, 100 kilometers South-East of the Slavacian coast. The Ministry has officially reported the loss of the vessel, along with casualty numbers. According to the MOD they are: 4 men killed, 14 men missing and 53 men injured. The Captain of the Submarine is reported to have not survived. The remaining crew members successfully evacuated the submarine, and were recovered by other vessels in the area. The purported reason for the sinking is a malfunctioning cruise missile launch, that one vertical launch carousel, causing flooding and loss of buoyancy. The Ministry has reported that a reactor containment breach is not likely, however, nuclear material from the damaged missiles could have leaked into the water.

The Project 899 submarines are relatively new, and have been in service with the Slavacian Navy for only 13 years, with the first submarine (RS-79) being launched on the 7th of August 2005. The submarine in question, the RS-85, was only launched in July last year and had just finished its trials, officially being commissioned on the 7th of December. This comes as a shock to the Naval community, as the submarine was designed for safety and had passed sea trials with little difficulty.

The spokesperson for the Ministry expressed his condolences to the families of the dead and wounded sailors and said that: "... a thorough investigation shall be carried out..." and that "...all responsible for this terrible tragedy will be punished in accordance to the laws of Greater Slavacia.". This event comes as international tensions are at an all time high, with possible border provocations expected at the Skjoldur-Slavacian border, and the deployment of ABM systems to the Southern Islands by The Realm of Nocturnalis.

Diplomatic Protest sent to the Kingdom of Skjoldur

The Ministry for Foreign affairs has issued a diplomatic protest to the Kingdom of Skjoldur in response to the recent border expansions in the nation. The border guards have been put on high alert, as military provocations are possible. The government of Slavacia has once again called for a peaceful resolution to the border crisis, and proposed a summit to finalize the demarcation of the border.

Myraxian Forces begin construction operations in Valtameri

Myraxian Pioneers landed in Valtameri today, with orders to commence construction and adaptation of existing infrastructure in order to establish a new base in the region for the Myraxian Naval Force. This move has been lauded by several commentators within the Myraxian Combined Forces itself, including one source within HighCom at MFB Arynos, as it will give the Naval Force a base in the south east of the Charter - something the Union has never possessed. This will give Union shipping access to the Kezani sea and the Ishavet Ocean, cutting shipping times in half for Myraxian merchant shipping, no longer forced to take the longer northern route to ensure security. This opens up new trade routes to Aurum, Haja-Mishu, and Slavacia, whilst simultaneously allowing the Myraxian Naval Force to operate in a previously unsecured region of waters.
Admiral Ashtar Sorynev, speaking on behalf of the Naval Force, pledged to dedicate vessels to eradicating piracy in the region - believed to be backed by Skjoldur - once the new base was operational.

Heartlander Resistance operatives have attacked the Hegemony’s base at Paros and seized an anti-air missile battery.
Three missiles have been fired and three airlines have been hit. Details are as follows.

Archonia Airways, flight AS4029, to Aykia with 127 souls on board.

Caelium Roma, flight MCDXLVI, to Colonia Trajanis with 398 souls on board.

Darasum Kote, flight NC233, to Samatrak with 127 souls on board.

The attack came after an advanced electronic warfare assault on Paros’ systems, disabling communications and sensors across the island. Considering Aurum’s support of the Heartlanders, this could be part of a new combined Aurumite and Heartlander strategy.

Word is just coming in that the Archonia Airways flight hasn’t been destroyed but is critically damaged. It is broadcasting a mayday signal and it is unknown if it will be able to recover or land safely. More news on that as we get it.

“We have captured thirteen of the Heartlander Terrorists as they tried to flee the scene of their crime. “Good evening. I’m Dasla Oskala, and this is the ACNC news at 10. Our main headline: Harrenite Terrorists Attack Asgarthian Passenger Aircraft, as well as Noctish and Roman planes. On the ground, in Aykia, our reporter Tiska Mortina can tell us more. Tiska.”

“Thank you Dasla. Six hours ago, flight AS4029 was expected to land here, in Aykia International Airport. AS4029 departed from Larka City Airport at 15:31, and was due to head on to Lexim State Airport. However, approximately half an hour into the flight, the plane relayed a mayday signal. The pilot relayed a message that the plane had been struck by some form of projectile, something passengers confirmed in their calls home. The plane was last tracked in the Sea of Arashi, approximately 19 miles off the coast of the Isle of Gespe. Rescue crews were scrambled, and managed to find the wreckage. Slavacian Agricultural Aid to The Stratocratic Territories of Iryllia

In light of the recent war in Iryllia, the Slavacian government has made an unprecedented decision to send over agricultural equipment and food supplies to help resolve the strained humanitarian situation in the country. The Minstry of Trade has announced in a press release that this is a "...purely civilian matter..." and that ""...Myraxian interests were not going to harmed in any way." This mission comes as a surprise amid tensions over Harren Island escalating into a nuclear war and the blockade of the Southern strait by Skjolduran navy.

The Ministry of Agriculture has released the preliminary numbers of agricultural machinery to be sent, they include:

• 400 tracked multi-purpose tractors
• 1000 wheeled transport trucks

Reconstruction of former Kudalian territories begins; Royaume to continue Valkyrie Project

In a joint statement issued by the Departments of Defense and Interior, the government today declared a “new day” for the lands and peoples devastated by the War of Cold Sand a decade ago in interior Archon.

“Levels of radiation that previously rendered this region uninhabitable have subsided to the extent that habitability can safely be restored,” said Bénard Cressé, lead scientist at the Interior Ministry. “The time has come to rebuild and restore the area’s productivity.”

Pictures released by the ministry indicated that much of the area, which had become starkly barren in the wake of the war, have returned to productive grasslands.

The government unveiled an ambitious plan for infrastructure, housing units, and transportation hubs. Former residents of Kudalia, who have been living in an ever-changing and unstable collection of feudal city-states in central Archon, have been invited to return home and take up residence and employment in the area once again. The Valkyrie Project, a highly secretive defense system under construction before the War commenced, will be revived by the Royaume, which seeks to make the outpost a significant element in its enhanced defensive systems. The enhancement is a result of the unprovoked attacks by Romae, heightening the Royaume’s need to maintain stronger security measures to the west and to rely more heavily on technology in its defensive plans.

Acadien military forces have recently occupied the territory, and scientists admit they have been taking water, land, and vegetation samples for a bit over a year to insure safety. For the foreseeable future, the area will remain under Military Administration, although, according to the statement issued today, the Royaume’s goal “…is to permit the returning Kudalians to form a proper local administration under the umbrella of the Royaume.”

News from Harren!

In response to the numerous attacks against our people from the people of Harren, at approximately 11:49 Eristyain Standard Time, the Harrenian-occupied island of Milos was swiftly and decisively occupied by our brave Eristyain troops, putting an end to one hostile presence so close to our lands. The operation was a complete and utter success, lasting only 38 minutes from the initial missile bombardment of the island's paltry defence forces to their complete surrender. 6 Harrenites were killed in the operation, in comparison to only 2 of ours wounded. Perhaps even better, the new leader of the Harrenian Hegemony, Admiral Calan, had no choice but to accept the loss of Milos when presented with the devastating results of the attack by our Inquisitor, Veriko Eteri, and swiftly handed over several Harrenite fugitives linked with the attacks on our people. The Ubiquitoriate has promised Inquisitor Eteri a swift promotion upon his return to the Homeland for his services to the Realm, and the not-so-swift execution of the Harrenite prisoners.

While on the subject of Eristys, both Eristyain Dominions have agreed to grant charters for deeper expansion into the island following an unprecedented wave of migration. In the south, this expansion has led to the almost-complete encirclement of the largest freshwater lake on the island-continent, which should provide ample farmlands for the growing Eristyain population. In the north, numerous coastal settlements have been founded by intrepid explorers, which will no-doubt find their fortunes through the ever-growing fishing industry in the Northern Dominion. Viktoria Nestan, the provisional governor of the Northern Dominion, has gone on record to state that "the incorporation of such critical territories into the Dominions has done well to secure for the Realm total control over Eristys in fact, if not in name."

Elements of the 4th Eristys Flotilla were also successful in establishing an outpost on the northern shore of Sintuvel, thereby securing Noctish control over one of the many westward sea-lanes, a long-standing strategic goal of the Department of Overseas Affairs, doubly so in considering the current political climate in Rusina. Although construction of the new outpost has yet to be completed, the 4th Flotilla remains on standby, and the outpost is expected to provide tremendous cover over the remaining distance between Eristys and Sintuvel.

Over one hundred warheads were launched towards Harren and its territories, exact numbers are in dispute and because of the high state of alert not much information is being handed out about the strike.

Whilst all that were fired at the Harrenian mainland have been intercepted, nuclear detonations have occurred on the Hegemonic military bases of Kos, Paros and Sado. Casualties and exact damage figures are currently unknown.

Maria Otome, Acting-President of the Republic, has issued the following emergency statement,

Geography: Interior of Archon, on the far western edges of the Royaume. Rolling, dry, sandy plains.

Ethno-linguistic Distribution: Ethnically, the people are highly mixed, predominantly comprised of Kudalians and indigenous Archonians. Linguistically, French predominates, although some pockets of indigenous and hybrid languages exist.

Economy: Military, Industrial, Science & Research, and pastoral activities.

History: Most of the region belonged to the former nation of Kudalia (From which the name of Kouadalie is derived), which was destroyed in the War of Cold Sands. Nuclear fallout rendered the area uninhabitable, and surviving Kudalians migrated into interior Archon, where they intermarried and partially assimilated with indigenous Archonian peoples. Nouvel Acadie initiated and maintained a regular schedule of testing the area, and finally determined that it was safe again for habitation. The Royaume chose the area to be used for the construction of significant military installations, including research facilities, in part based on reviving the incomplete Kudalian Valkyrie Project. A shortage of Acadien labor willing to move in to the interior prompted the Royaume to invite descendants of the original Kudalians to return, with promises of government-supplied housing, infrastructure, and jobs. Interior Archonians responded, and soon populated the main city of Abéché, as well as surrounding pastoral lands.

Culture: The military-industrial-research complex at Abéché is the defining element of the region's culture. More than 85% of the Départment's residents live within the city or within commuting distance it, aided by a significant rapid transit system. The area has a unique combined military-civilian administration, with the Acadien military maintaining absolute authority over the city's industrial complex. Resident workers are overwhelmingly supportive of the military presence, which has restored livability to the area, and show a strong degree of patriotism and allegiance to the Acadien government. A minority of residents chose to acquire pastoral and nomadic lands, awarded by the Royaume through a homestead process that provided land for free in exchange for agricultural development.

Royaume Establishes First Presence on Epilo
Environmental and Scientific Research Base established at Lac Perroche

The Ministry of the Environment announced today that Nouvel Acadie has established a presence in the central Epiloan plains, with a view towards preserving the continent's largest freshwater body.

Tód Éríqsén, the renowned Sqoán environmental scientist who serves as the Minister of the Environment for the Royaume, issued the following statement today from Gaspé:

"This is an exciting project for the Royaume. The tropical savannah lands of Epilo have existed for centuries with little human impact. By securing a perimeter around Lac Perroche, the Royaume has the opportunity to study and preserve the pristine watershed of the lake for future generations. Our plans call for carefully planned research facilities with minimal footprints to provide opportunities for scientists and ecologists from around the world to study this unique environment."

A scientific team, aided by the Acadien military, have established a coastal base at Port-du-Guépard (Port of the Cheetah) to serve as the main housing and supply headquarters for the area. A rudimentary dirt road has been constructed to permit access to the upper watershed area for research, access to which will be strictly controlled by security forces to prevent degradation of the area.

Lupus: After, what we have been assured was, a thorough investigation the local authority has determined that the troubled individual took his own life. Out of respect for the man’s family, many of whom have recently disappeared, GMR has dropped its investigation.

Cincia: That, and the reporter assigned to the case didn’t show up for work today…

Lupus: Now now, he left us that note in someone else’s handwriting saying that he, and his extended family, were going on holiday for a few years.

Cincia: The new territory is placed near the politically unstable Harren Island and should greatly assist in Roman efforts to pacify the region. The inhabitants are culturally and linguistically akin to the Achaean peoples of the Imperium, who partially share their culture with Harrenites, and as such have been deemed civilized enough to be granted the ius Latii by Caesar.

Lupus: The Senate has also voted overwhelmingly to consolidate the territory into a new province and name it for Gemellius Caesar, as a gift from the Roman people in honour of his upcoming 46th birthday in a few weeks.

Cincia: The capital city was to be named Caesarea, but due to the number of cities that already bear the proud name, it will be known as Caesarea Extima, or Kaisareia Eschate in the local Achaean, with the entire province awarded the name Caesarea. It is understood that the Consul Publius Vispanius Agrippa, son of the renowned Praefectus Classis, is to step down from office prematurely to assume governorship of the province.

Lupus: In order to both defend his province and increase Roman military presence in the area the Consul will be awarded 4 Legions, including the Legio XII, two cohorts of which is currently engaged on the neighbouring island.
