The Festival of the Holy Light (IC)

Postby AHSCA » Sun Aug 26, 2018 9:54 am

Sign up on the OOC if you want to join.

You're welcome to arrive anywhere you like, any island you like. You've been cleared of customs and welcomed to the UIS.

Today's Forecast: Sunny, with passing clouds. Chance of precipitation 25% Winds SSW at 16 Km/h
Tomorrows Forecast: Sunny with increasing clouds. Chance of precipitation 30% Winds SSW at 16 Km/h
Aurora Evening Forecast: Thunderstorm developing with increasing winds to 19 km/h

Early in the morning in the UIS, any other day it would be business as usual, children off to school, villagers to work in their village shops, centers, farms, fisherman setting off to sea or returning with their latest catch but today was special, it was the start of the festivities, the great celebration of the blessings of their Great Goddesses of Light and Dark for their blessings. Blessings to keep the nation peaceful, fed, their Duchess having courage and wisdom in leading her people, health, family, everything great in life. AHSCA, not really a country rich in resources but rich in spirit people often say to them. It's why there was the political tug-a-war of whether they should go down an industrialization route or stay as is. Find a balance? Well all in good time that wasn't on the mind of most.

Now was the time to celebrate the last ounces of plentiful sunshine before the deluge set in. AHSCA's monsoons were often notorious and some years were always worse than others. Last year was decent if not a little unusual. This year, the Meteorological Office was forecasting an above average season, probably something to rival the season that followed the war. It made sense, it was an unusually quite hurricane season, only one tropical storm passed over the islands. A trade-off.

Aurora Village Square - Morning

The hustle and bustle of the morning rush of patrons going to and from shops that lined the "streets" Ships of all sizes arrived in port, some from foreign origin others typical of the AHSCA civil fleets which often made you feel you stepped back in time. A few small aircraft also arrived nearby as now flocks of tourists were arriving en mass. Locals were mixed, some thrilled to have some new people others feeling disdain, old grudges left over.

Kumiko Oumae a shopkeeper and single mother of one was on the excited side. Given she often traveled to have exotic goods in her shop which was hard for her and her little girl to do all the time it was nice to welcome and to business here for a change. Her little one, Mamiko painted a sign she could hold to draw in the crowds. "This okay, mama?" She asked with her beaming smile

"Let's see" She examined the sign "It's great sweet, just one little word here." she guided her child's paint brush to fix a letter on a word. "That's the right way otherwise it may confuse some people."

"Hehe, kay. Can I go out and hold it for a while?"

"Mmm okay, but if you feel flushed it's time to come in"

"Yes, mama" she scurried away, excited to welcome anyone who might arrive. Kumiko's friend and business partner in this shop, Azusa set down a bunch of boxes. "Aah that's the last of the stock. You really sure people are going to buy this much?"

"Locals maybe, but tourists, you bet." Kumiko replied with confidence.

"Nothing we offer is all that amazing or special to travelers"

"I think you'd be surprised. Anyway some folks will be staying a while they'll need some amenities or just something to take home."

"If you say so. Still thinking we should raise prices a bit."

"Trust me, keeping things the same will make them want to keep shopping or buy more. If I'm wrong you can just fire me."

"You say that when you know I never will." she tapped her on the head.

Great Temple of Aurora - Morning

In a small stone temple nestled in the jungles just outside Aurora Village. It's not just the civilians looking forward to the festivities, the clergy of the Madokami religion also busy prepping. Folks would be coming to them for spiritual guidance, simple prayers, thanks, whatever it may be. They also were opening spare beds for traveling tourists who may need a place to stay. Among the many full time and part time priestesses that worked here was also one Princess Gisella Villa. A very spiritual girl she was she took time to help out and no task was too menial for her, she'd sweep, clean, change bedding. It was at her insistence she be put to work like any of the others here which made her well liked among her fellow priestesses. Though she was nobility, she was true to spirit, humble, meek and kind. She also was having the pleasure of training a junior recruit. As Gisella quietly prayed before the statue of her Goddess, the sounds of clattering caught her attention it was Rubeno, her trainee. She had spilled the soapy water she was cleaning with. "Oh, are you okay?"

"Oh fine I guess, just wet. I'm sorry, Princess, you were in the middle of prayer and I interrupted you."

"I told you, I don't want you to call me Princess. I'm not here for the State, I'm here on my own will." she helped Rubena up to her feet. Rubena was young and pretty, dark skin, long brown hair that extended to her backside. But she lacked much in the way of strength.

"I thought I could carry the whole thing."

"Remember if you need help, just ask. Me or any priestess. Even the Priests will help you too. Well you need to dry off, best way to do that is to stand outside in the sun and breeze. We'll be welcoming new people soon."

"Oooh." She nodded along following her mentor along. "Prin-Gisella, do you think it's so good to have so many foreigners here during our Holy celebration? I got a letter from my father and brother back home on Corona, they're saying the Government relaxing travel laws is going to bring in spies."

"Mmm old grudges I take it?"

"Papa did fight in the war and mama died during it. It's only by the Grace of the Goddess that I'm alive being born in the middle of it."

"That was a long time ago. It's nothing to worry about now. No one wants to invade us."

Both emerged outside as people came to and fro. Approaching another young Priestess, Gisella asked "We'll take over here Kakao, would you take over the cleaning duties a while?"

"Sure thing. I need to get out of the sun anyway." The young lady went along.

Harira, approaching Aurora.
Princess Aurelia bint-Damir would freely admit, that she had more pleasant voyages in the past, but she didn't want to miss this for anything in the world. So, with the permission from her Grandmother, the Sultana, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and of her Father, she set sail from Motya for the long and ardous trip to Aurora.
And it had been worth any moment of it.
Harira, a little cat-yawl gifted to her by Rusadir Yachts while her father ordered a vessel from SDY, was a boat barely longer then six metres, easily steered by one person. Her father had shown her how to yacht and she had trained well and she had a very capable first mate aboard as well: Aldhiyb, her Sand Wolf, a large canine, beige-brown and with light, very blue eyes. He was too cute and she had taken him with her because she had wanted to have a familiar face with her on her long journey.
She had a sacred mission: She was, since the State Visit, in a stable relationship with Duchess Marcella Villa of the UIS and having her informed of her coming, and of her coming incognito, without any official sort of business in mind - she just wanted to meet Marcella, even if it was just for a moment, see her and hold her, feel her and feel her love.
Gods, she missed him... and in saying that, she sounded like a corny poet, like Karim Risha.
In any case, Aurelia was very much cute to look at as well: Seventeen, 1.75 metres tall, very well equipped, her blonde hair long and almost reaching to her rear end, muscles and curves where they belonged, her skin dark, not quite the skin tone usual for Kyrenaians, testament to her being a Half-Selkie. Still, with her hair open and fluttering behind her like a golden banner, her little yawl, driven by its summer rig of barely 23 square metres, sailed onwards, ever onwards, towards where her heart waited.
Aldhiyb barked - land in sight!
Aurelia grinned - she was coming. Like the Sailor-Princes of olden times, she was coming!
Dirty with grime and sweat, she would need a shower before anything, but she was coming!

Port of Aurora

So many ships coming in, more than usual had UIS PD very busy with inspections and customs duty. A ship flying the flag of Kyrenaia was a ship that always got extra attention because it was such a close new friend of the UIS. Many officers didn't know it was carrying the Princess Aurelia, only a select few superiors just to make sure she'd get processed quickly. It also would get free work if needed, knowing the turbulent seas ships often needed patches and "tune ups."

"Ship inbound. Small personal craft. She's flying the Kyrenaia flag" An Officer radioed in.

"Aye, we got it." Superior Officer, one Sylvi Bernadotte was one of the few high ups who knew about Princess Aurelia's arrival. Still she had to treat her like anyone else per orders. "Swing Port, Officer Toma" she told her boat captain

"Aye, Ma'am." running along side the Harira she looked no worse for the wear but still would be asked if any work service was needed "Morning! We are UIS Police and Customs. Proceed to shore for inspection."

"Onto the next, ma'am?" Toma asked her

"No, to port, I'll take care of this ship myself."

"Aye, Ma'am." The two ships crisscrossing one another and Sylvi kept her laser focus over radio chatter. A quick scan over, a quick asking of the usual customs questions and offer of any ship repairs and patches needed and Aurelia would be on her way.

Temple of Aurora - Royal Quarters

A separate stone building astride the nearby "Temple" for the Royal Family. It was previously the main Madokami Temple on Aurora before being re-purposed for the needs of the Royal Family. Gisella was off working at the Great Temple while Marcella was fussing over how to get ready for Aurealia's arrival. Marcella's own handmaiden, Yoshiko helped her going through her things. "mmm what do you think, something easy, something festive?"

"Personally, I say go festive, Milady." She pulled out a yellow flora print yukata, one purchased for her at the small corner shop in Aurora Square, ran by the nice ladies. "It is your time off too and time to celebrate."

"Oooh I'm so anxious. It's been a while since I've seen Aurelia. I hope she made here safe. I know she's a fine sailor but still even the best of us.."

"Calm your mind, Milady a fine sailor she is, even our waters should be easy for her."

"Ooh is it wrong to hope for a big storm like a hurricane just she can stay a little longer?"

"Well a big storm might call you to duty right away so maybe want to hope for something easier if you want her stranded for a few days more."

"Boy you and I can be nefarious can't we?" She joked with her maiden. "Nah I shouldn't hope for that, I'll just have to make the few days special. Maybe even I should...Ask for her hand even."

"Milady, thinking of finally asking her?"

"It would be very apt, for our Holy Festival. I do love her so much. But she has responsiblites back home I should be mindful of that first."

"Well think and pray on it, Milady. The Great Mother of Light will guide you."

"Well right now the Lady of the Dark is making my heart pound like the winds and ocean waves. I think she's also turning my desires up to the max"

"It is the time where their powers are most ample, it's no surprise. Before Great Goddess of the Night casts the shadows of rain and storm over us enjoy the sun and light of Holy Mother of light."

"Well said. I'm surprised you aren't a Priestess."

"Service is my passion more than preaching." She winked finishing getting her changed. "You must be proud your little sister is attending to her duties at the Great Temple."

"I am. So is mama and papa. She'll be a great Duchess of Aurora and a great High Priestess too." The finishing touches of two white flowers in Marcella's hair. "I suppose before she does arrive, I should offer my prayers of thanks to the two Goddesses."

"A wise idea milady. In the meantime I can prepare your chambers for the both of you."

"Actually, no. If she stays here word is going to get out that she's here. This is supposed to be a quiet visit, no fuss no muss."

"Ah I understand, Milady." she bowed in apology not that she had too but she did. "Well you're all set if you want to go out. Please say an extra prayer for me and offer up." She handed her a single Island Credit to give.

"I will." Marcella set out for the Great Temple. She opted to not take security detail along with her because her detail deserved time to celebrate as well. Besides she was Naval trained and could handle herself. Congress too was in recess so there would likely not much state business to do now.

Harira, inbound to Aurora.
When the customs boat cam up, Aurelia had to keep her Sand Wolf from making things more complicated by a strict word in Kyrenaian, which made him back down, but the entire matter was quickly cleared up: The officer was polite, efficient and although Aurelia had a feeling, that she knew, who she had before her, she made no fuss.
That was very good, Aurelia preferred it that way.
Especially today.
She wanted to spent time with her beloved, not be bogged down by politics, decorum and other such things.
The customs were quickly dealt with, she had Aldhiyb's Pet Passport with her, her own, plus a few little things, which she took along, for example as part of the heavy utility belt around her hips. And there was a gift for Marcella as well, which she had to declare.
The question of repairs was pondered for a moment.
"I'll look over her later and will reply to you then, okay?", she asked, not wanting to be rude, "Don't want to waste your time when you are this busy." She had to admit, while the Aurelia, the Yacht her father named after her, would look excellent around these parts, her little yawl almost vanished - but it was still hers, so it was her duty to care for it. And the port was indeed busy, from what she could tell, being on her way shortly after. "Thank you, Officer. Have nice and calm festivities!"
And with that, she was off, jumping onto her boat for a moment to grab a light jacket, black, going well with her short shorts, and her cap, dark blue with the coat of arms of the carrier RKN Nazir embroidered on the front - her Uncle's Flagship, the crew had gifted the cap to her on one occassion and she held it dear.
She grinned, as she stood there, entering Aurora with her pet Sand Wolf on her heels.
"Well, then... off we go.", she said and looked to the left and to the right. "Where to?"

Silvi looked over everything and it all checked out. A quick stamps here and there and handing it back "Everything checks out, Madam. Welcome to the UIS. Enjoy your stay here. Let us know if you need any assistance, we officers are here to help out." she handed her documents back and allowed Aurelia to continue along.

Aurelia looking through the crowds could see any number of options, places to eat, public baths if she was eager to wash up from her trip, an inn if she wanted to rest a while the choices were hers. Other vendors including the little girl, Mamiko holding her sign shouting about great sales for the festival. "While supplies last!"

For a moment, Aurelia was overwhelmed by the crowds and the possibilities - her days were usually too hectic to consider possibilities or too slow to have to actually have to worry about them, but here...
She felt thrown back in time, a bit, to the times, when she had been just a Selkie-Girl, not a Kyrenaian Princess.
She exhaled with a small smile, then formed a plan: First, let's see what the girl had on offer, then wash up a bit at the public bath (she hoped, that it wasn't too public, but that concern was quickly washed away), then continue her search while looking around.
So, with that plan in mind, she approached the girl - she had no idea, that her name was Mamiko or that she was the kid of a single-mom, but she thought, that she was cute. And that would prove to be a great asset in her business career, she was quite sure of it.
"So, limited supplies...", Aurelia asked the girl, bending slightly down, Aldhiyb by her side and keeping a weary eye on the proceedings, but looking friendly. "...of what, if I may ask, Young Saleswoman?"
It was not meant in disrespect, but calling her 'Young Saleswoman' came natural to Aurelia, even with a slight bit of respect.

"That sounds like a very good plan.", she praised and petted th girl on the head, "Make sure to drop by Kyrenaia, they have some pretty nice things to sell to travelling merchants." She rose to her height again, then motioned for Aldhiyb to wait outside, the Sand Wolf sitting down next to Mamiko on his haunches, like a soldier keeping watch.
Aurelia smiled at that, winked at Mamiko and then made to enter the store.
With a cute girl as this, who would deny her looking at her mother's shop? Besides, who knew, what they had to offer?

"Okay, Miss. We will be sure to go there next!" Mamiko decided like she really had much say. She continued to call out sales and deals when Aurelia enterd the shop, Kumiko greeted her. "Welcome." She gave a slight bow of respect for their first customer of the day. "Happy festivities to you, Miss. Welcome to our Shop." She wasn't a regular, that much she could tell. Her dark skin may indicate she could be Coronan but until she spoke she didn't really know she was foreign. "Anything I can get for you? We have a special on yukata like the one I'm wearing for instance. Perfect for the festivities. We also have many other great items."

The walls were lined with everything, toys for children, clothing for men and women, modern and islander wear like saree and bandeaux. Swimsuits for both sexes, non-perishable foods brought from various countries like The Selkie, Lamoni and Mokastana. Books, guides, maps, sailing equipment, rain gear for light showers or heavy seas, lanterns used for every day lightning needs.

Kyrksen and Sojourner
After sailing for several days from the Aurora Confederacy, the captain of the ship announces that the ship, Bergen Star will be porting at the island of Aurora, the announcement wasn't so much for the crew but two passengers, Kyrksen and Sojourner Mc.Levy, who had booked passage to the island nation of AHSCA, a nation whos name is made up of the first letters of the islands that make up the nation, a somewhat logical way to name a nation in the eyes of many.

As the captain of the Bergen Star orders engines to be brought back to ahead 1/3rd, the ships purser makes his way down to the accommodation decks and knocks on one of the cabin doors before announcing "Mr. Mc.levy, we will be porting shortly, make sure your belongings are with you and on behalf of the captain I wish you a good holiday", his accent also had more than a hint of Afrikaans in it for he was not from the Aurora Confederacy, but from Johannasburg.

Kyrksen, lying in bed next to his wife stirred, "Okay, no problem" he says before gently waking Sojourner up and it wasn't long before the two of them were getting dressed, their bags were already packed in order to make a quicker exit off the ship as time would be limited.

The tannoy boomed again "Attention please, attention please. Will Kyrksen and Sojourner Mc.Levy make their way to the boarding deck please, the pilot boat is coming along side. Thank you", the dull rumble of the ship's 4 huge diesel engines also began to fade as the captain called for ahead - dead slow, reducing the foaming mess at the stern to a feint ripple as the propellers went from around 60rpm to around 20, bringing the ship down from around 15 knots to 5 knots as crew members opened a hatchway on the side of the ship just a few feet above the waterline and lowered the boarding ladder as the pilot cutter came along side.

"Kyrk I know they said they would be making a fleeting visit to the islands, but i wasn't expecting this" comments Sojourner

"yeah its not a schedulded stop" replies Kyrksen, throwing his backpack onto the deck of the pilot boat before climbing down onto the same deck as Sojourner puts the backpack over her shoulders and puts her feet onto the rope ladder as Kyrken steadies her. Once down on the pilot boat with their bags accounted for, the crew of the Bergen Star pulled in the rope ladder and closed the hatch as the Pilot boat peeled away, the helmsman opening up the two diesel engines to get away from the cargo ship which was now turning back to open water. "Customs formalities, can they be done here or do we have to wait till we are ashore?" asks Sojourner as Kyrksen puts on his backpack.

Jason and Karen Hall
At another part of the island of Aurora, 2 other Auroran's were getting ready to come to the island, however their mode of transport was a little more comfortable than some cargo tub for Jason and Karen with their pet cat Marvin were aboard a liner, the Eden Symphony, Karen and Jason were however dressed and waiting along with several other passengers to disembark, however one guest aboard the ship was getting plenty of attention, that guest being Marvin as he sprawls out by Jason's feet.

It wasn't long before the ship was safely tied up either although the wait seemed to take an eternity as the gangway was swung into place as the tannoy relays an announcement from the captain, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, For those who are leaving the ship please ensure you have all your belongings with you, if you are due to re board the ship before we sail, ensure you have your boarding passes with you. We will be departing at midnight tonight, please be aboard by twenty three hundred hours. thank you" .

Karen reaches down and scoops Marvin up, holding his leash in one hand and Marvin in the other, Marvin however is used to this and simply lets out a contented meow, and is soon purring as Karen gives his ears a scratch. Jason looks across at the crew, then back to Karen as the hatch to the gangway is swung open and secured. "After you Karen" he says, and so Jason along with Karen begin the steady walk into a new country, their passports and documents easily at hand, the have 3 passports, yes even Marvin has one although rather than like a human's passport, an Auroran pet passport is more of a record of his vaccination history to show that he is not carrying anything he shouldn't be into another country. As they leave the ship, the ships pursor stops Karen and Jason briefly, handing a small treat out "thats for him" he says, pointing at Marvin as he hands Karen some cat treats.

Once on the hard standing the various passengers who are visiting for a day trip head off to where ever they need to be, some going to waiting toursit buses, others once through customs go to the markets, Jason and Karen have another appointment once they have cleared customs, for they are leaving this ship for a week and will be boarding another ship to catch the trip back. Karen places Marvin on the floor and together, Jason, Karen and Marvin begin a slow steady walk towards the customs hall, Marvin leading the way on a leash.

Young Karl, a cousin of the Marmoreal Order's current Grand Master, arrived by ship on a sunny day when he saw the islands bursting with laughter because it's festival time.

He was seen wearing a black-and-white habit of the Knights, with a barrel helmet donned with angel wings, stepping on fresh, tropical shores as he said a soft, whispering prayer:

"May the light of Mirana of Marmoreal and Alice Kingsleigh dawn upon those who receive it, amen."

At the sight of the visitors and natives an aura of serene holiness enveloped him while he began to read his breviary. The young knight said he was here to pay a visit to the shrines he love to visit, but the Order's mission is to find anybody willing to listen to him.

S.S. Fairy Tail, North Atlantic Ocean, August 27, 2018, 7:00 AM

The S.S. Fairy Tail, A William Class Ocean Liner, has been sailing from London, England to Aurora in the United Island States of AHSCA, located somewhere in the Caribbean Sea, before heading to it’s next location, Cape Canaveral in America. This Old looking Steamship is carrying Cartoon passengers taking a vacation, most are looking to get away from their busy lives in Cartoonia, some poorer citizens are moving to other countries in search of opportunities, others are just on a cruise. Many of the Cartoonians are going to the AHSCA to enjoy themselves. Including three people.

Image

Rose Thomas is a baker in the village of Liore. She’s a young, tan skinned woman who at first glance, might be mistaken as a citizen of Ishval. She has dark hair with pink-ish bangs. A devout Christian and widow. She lived by herself ever since her parents died when she was 12 getting help from the local church. She once loved someone years ago, but he died in an accident. It’s been 10 years since then. She still thinks of her love everyday. She now wants to travel the world, starting with United Island States. So she saved up a couple of bucks and was ready to travel to AHSCA after clearing customs.

Image

Navy Lieutenant Philip J. Fry is a military engineer for the 3rd New New York Space Fleet, fixing and designing space battleships. He has unmistakable orange hair and has white skin. He’s been at his job for years without a break. So his commanding officer, Captain Farnsworth, told him to take vacation to the United Island States. He added that he needs a break from all this technology as the Captain knows that the Islands are very primitive. So the Captain gave him a one week paid vacation to AHSCA.

Image

Tamaki Suoh is a fancy rich boy from the Ouran Academy. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and is white. He is currently the head of the Suoh Garment Factory, a powerful clothing company. He, being a rich boy, wanted to travel the world and see some beautiful wonders before heading back to manage the company. So he gave temporary command to his friend, Kyoya Ottori, booked a second class passage on the S.S. Fairy Tail, and decided to pick AHSCA as his destination after hearing about it’s primitive lifestyle.

These people come from all different walks of life. But they have one thing in common, they are going to spend the week on the AHSCA.

On the deck of the ship, Rose was walking out and about in her beige dress, her brown sandals, and a white floppy hat. All of a sudden the wind picked and took her hat off. “Ah” she cried, “my hat”. The wind took it across the deck when all of a sudden a orange-haired man in a red jacket took the hat from the wind after it died down. He looks around and sees Rose running, he then proceeds to walk to the woman.

“Excuse me ma'am, is this you hat”. “Yes, thank you for getting my hat back”.

“No problems, my pleasure to do so. Oh, the names Philip J Fry, but my friends call me Fry”.

“I’m Rose”

“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you Miss Rose” Fry says. Rose laughs a bit. “Oh please, Rose is fine”.

“Okay then Rose” he says. “Say, are you heading to the United Island States by any chance?”

“Why yes” she says. “I’m taking a break from modern life. I want to explore this island, I heard it’s not as technologically advanced as our nation”.

“Yeah that’s what I heard too” he says. “I’m not used to not being near advanced technology. I come from a city where it’s nicknamed the city of the future today”

“New New York?”

“Yeah that city, I work in the navy you see, I repair and design spaceships for naval use”

“You’re a sailor?”

“Yes ma’am, Lieutenant Fry at your service” he says while saluting. Rose just laugh happily. All of a sudden, a blonde guy in a light blue suit walks in looking all surprised at the navy lieutenant.

“Fry? Is that you?” He says

“Tamaki?” Fry says

They both handshake and hugged each other, saying things “like it’s good to see you again” and “long time no see”

“You two know each other?” Rose asked

“Yeah” Fry says “we meet in Gallagher for a college meet and we became good friends ever since, hey Tamaki, this is my friend Rose. We are headed to AHSCA”.

Tamaki gasped. “You are going there too. What a coincidence, so am I”.

“Well don’t expect to see anything fancy you rich boy” Fry says. “I heard they’re primitive as primitive can be”.

Tamaki nodded “Well, I’m ready to make some sacrifices myself, you know what they say, when in Rome, do what the Romans do!”

Rose smiled while Fry just laughed

“Oh by the way. The pleasure is mine Rose” Tamaki says while bowing and holding out his hand like a gentleman.

“Oh, why thank you Tamaki”.

Just before anyone else can say anything, the Captain gets on to the intercom.

“Hello this is your captain speaking. We are about close to reaching the Port of Aurora, all passengers should head back to their cabins to prepare for customs. We know you have choiced for traveling abroad, so thank you for choosing a Jones-Williams Ocean Liner, the luxury Cartoon Sea Service”.

“Well, looks like we’ll be on land soon” Rose says. “Say, how about we go about the island together. You know, as friends”.

“Sure” Fry says.

“Of course” replied Tamaki.

As the ship sails on, the port appears in the distance. The brass quintet gets ready to play some tunes upon arrival. Everyone who has checked their belongings are now back on the deck to check out the island at a distance. “This is going to be quite an adventure” everyone thought.

AHSCA wrote:"Okay, Miss.

Aurelia giggled upon entry - the girl was just too adorable!
Upon entry, she took a moment before her eyes adjusted from the bright sunshine outside to the darker interior of the shop, but when they did, she looked at a woman, who bore resemblance to the girl outside - her mother, Aurelia would bet. She looked nice and quite pretty.
"Welcome.", she said with a bow, which Aurelia returned with a smile. "Happy festivities to you, Miss. Welcome to our Shop." Aurelia was once again surprised about the friendliness and openness of the locals, something their Duchess definately embodied as well. One of the many, many reasons why she loved Marcella. "Anything I can get for you? We have a special on yukata like the one I'm wearing for instance. Perfect for the festivities." Aurelia gave the garnment a closer look, nodded. It would be nice. "We also have many other great items."
"Thank you very much, Ma'am.", she replied with a smile, her accent coming into play: The rolling Rs and dropped vowels of a Selkie mixed with the Kyrenaian pronounciation of each syllable distinctly and intentional (Kyrenaians put a great deal of effort on pronounciation of their own language, which was transferred to other languages as well). It was an interesting mixture. "I'll be sure to give the Yukatas a good look, they look pretty."
Thanks to her bust, though, Aurelia wasn't quite sure if she could wear one... concerns for another time.
"I'll look around and call you, if I need something, okay?", she said with a smile, having spotted something very familiar from the corner of her eyes: Soláthar, Selkie-Provisions.
Indeed, true to the girls' words, they had travelled quite a bit.

For the really big ships, ships to big to get into the smaller AHSCA ports, smaller ships, some local others from cruise liners. Officers of the Police were still on patrol in the harbor to ensure safety of passing ships and people. Of course inspections were also carried out sometimes on the spot but others were done ashore. "You ever see the port so busy?" Officer Katida asked her partner, Rava who had the helm of one of their patrol craft.

"Can't say I ever have. Ever. Can't believe so many people would want to come all the way down here. Oh let's take care of this one" the women pulled along and boarded the small pilot boat. "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, we're apart of UIS Police. We're willing to go ahead and inspect your bags for customs. If you'd rather wait until ashore you may. Make sure to declare any weapons and surrender them if asked. Have ID Cards and Passports ready."

Driving buy on a small motor scooter a young Rin Shoji, another Priestess of the faith. It was pretty apparent she was wearing the traditional miko hakama . She'd been busy running errands all morning including spiritual house calls, for those unable or unwilling to visit the temples or shrines. Suddenly she came to a stop seeing yet another new arrival this one kind of stood out among the dozens of others who were crawling through the ports right now. She gingerly approached him as he seemed to be in somewhat of a trance "uuh, hello?"

The ship was ushered into port the passengers who came onto the island were processed and allowed to go about their own will. Cartoonia wasn't that much different than AHSCA, well besides maybe a large economical difference but otherwsie they were likely to fit in as far as Rose and Tamaki were concerned.

The three New Englanders disembarked from their ship and looked around Aurora Village Square.

“I didn’t expect Aurora to be so busy,” Karina Conway said with surprise. She pulled out a bottle of sunscreen and began applying it to her pale, freckled skin. Her wavy red hair glinted in the sunshine as she moved. Its color contrasted nicely with her sky blue tank top and silver star earrings.

“Aurora is not as developed as Boston, but I think it will be nice to try something new this week,” Adelaide Pak commented. She yawned and ran her fingers through her long, shiny dark hair before pulling it into a ponytail. Her skin was a natural tan color that wouldn’t burn as easily as Karina’s. She didn’t want to get sunscreen on her new floral dress anyway.

Jeffrey Medeiros added, “I’d especially like to try some new foods. Do you guys want to grab something to eat?” He looked slightly bedraggled in his wrinkled Red Sox t-shirt, cargo shorts, and scuffed slip-on sneakers. His tightly curled black hair stuck out all around his head. He had medium brown skin that was even less susceptible to sun damage than Adelaide’s. Besides, he didn’t want to waste time on sunscreen when there were so many delicious aromas floating through the air.

“The food here sure smells better than what they serve in the cafeteria at work,” Adelaide joked. The three friends had met through their jobs. They were all elementary school teachers in their twenties and thirties.

“Yeah,” Karina agreed. “I see a seafood shack over there. We could get some food and eat it outside. After all, the weather’s beautiful.”

“I wonder if they have any clam chowder or lobster rolls,” Jeffrey said.

“We didn’t come all the way here to eat the kind of food we can get everywhere in United New England!” Karina exclaimed in exasperation. “Try something different for once.”

“Hey, I agreed to come on the trip, didn’t I?” he replied with a smile. The three friends walked down the path together.

Mazomba - Kuronami Empire - Three Weeks Earlier

A small town country girl, Annabell Lang was setting off on more than a trip, it was going to be something of an adventure for her. She was going for six long months to the islands. First as a tourist to witness the festival and participate as much as a forienger could and second to help in service. Kuronamians had to commit to either civil service or military service before age 35 and she was kind of eager to have hers done soon. This trip was off to a good start until boarding her ship, things got complicated she lost her passport, but thankfully the Civil Service Office agreed to get her new documents ready upon arrival. She missed the first ship out but a ship departing in the evening would be able to carry her. Might make her a day late but all should be okay. Now evening set in but so did the signs of ominous clouds. She watched from the deck the ship departing from port seeing the shore grow distant and a mighty streak of lightning blazing from the sky. Sending off one last message about her status maybe not a good idea given it could make her family worried but she was kind of scared now. CRASH, went the thunder, never mind, she was scared now. She'd never been on the sea, much less so far from home. Crew ushered everyone back inside due to weather and thus began her three week trip. Things finally calmed after a few days and she learned to cope with sea sickness.

Port of Aurora - Present Day

It seemed she didn't get here too late after all, it was the morning of the first day of festivities here which made her happy but given she had to still await her documents from the Civil Office here in the islands, she was a bit limited to where she could go. Apparently travel restrictions were lifted but she'd have to stay on Aurora for the time being. Ideally in a day or two her documents would be processed and she'd be cleared for her extended stay. In the meantime she could eat. She had her cash ready and she walked the streets to find an eatery of some kind. For a not as developed nation, AHSCA actually didn't seem all that different from her small town, or at least Aurora Village didn't. There were small buildings lining in a row, little shops and homes next to one another. It was charming and rustic. Honestly it was perfect. Her scary first few days on the sea washed away now feeling better. Coming across a little girl shouting about great sales. Might be good to get something for herself and family back home while the deals were good.

Aurelia was a bit surprised, if she was honest, but pleasantly so.
"Half-Selkie, actually.", she said and smiled, "The other half is Kyrenaian. I was born in Seabhcóir, at the edge of the Trossach." She let a beat pass. "Where have you been?"
She would bet, that it was one of the larger cities, like Silverport or Wembury or maybe even Fortham (the capitol, for a given definition of the term, the Selkie were a bit iffy with that), but for the latter, she had to get very deep into the Free Lands.
While having the conversation, she looked at the provisions offered: Buan, the classic. She took a few packages for paying as soon as she had everything together. For one thing, she hadn't eaten that in a long time, for the other, she wanted to be prepared for her return trip.
Outside, she could hear someone talking to the cute Shopgirl, but Aldhiyb did not react, so it was fine.

"Aaah, half and half huh? How interesting." She began to calculate how much each was costing with everything discounted or at the same. "Well first time I went was with my little girl, we went to Cuan. Our second trip there more recently was Silverport. That's why I have so many goods from there and other nations. Usually just ones already friendly to our country." All tallied up "10 Credits for the bunch."

Few moments the young dark haired Kuronami girl entered. "Good morning, I'll be right with you if you need help, but please feel free to browse on your own." Annabell gave a nod of understanding as she began to browse the selection and Kumiko returned her attention to Aurelia "But all the way from Kyrenaia? Quite a trip from here. Then again we're hoping many tourists will come given some recent relaxed policies by the government."

Mamiko also entered the shop again tired of holding the sign she asked "Mama, can I have a parasol?"

"Mmm why, not looking like rain is it?"

"No, mama I just thought it be fun to twirl it to attract folks."

"All right grab something bright and pretty."

On the plane - Landing

"Your Grace! We're landing!", yelled the pilot. He was one of the best pilots in the Knessian Air Force, temporarily reassigned to fly the Duke's plane. "Very good!", replied the Duke.

Grand Duke Herman was out of his element. He had never left Knessniet before this. He had been convinced this was a good idea by his foreign minister, George Lee. George had extolled the virtues of travel abroad, and made it sound grand and extravagant. Now, as the airstrip came into view, Herman wasn't so convinced. "Sergeant Cook! Where are the factories?", asked the Duke. "This is a developing nation, Your Grace, they aren't as industrialized as us." Now he was really out of his element. Knessniet was built as one giant capitalist machine. Everyone expected a factory to be in view at all times. The flummoxed Duke just sat there quietly for a few seconds. Finally, he spoke, "Maitland, you said you traveled abroad as an embassy guard once, right?" "Yes, Your Grace." "Alright. Then tell me, what do you know about nations like this."

Corporal Maitland went on to describe how other nations are different. As the plane landed and taxied to the small patch of land that was to serve as a hangar, the Duke started to get the concept. "Well, if this is anything like you say it is, I made a big mistake packing us wool uniforms.", said the Duke, now aware that it gets above 60°F when you aren't under a thick blanket of industrial smog. He studied finance, and now he wishes he had studied something that would teach him a bit more about the World. Oh, well.

As he was disembarking the plane, he asked Cook, "Cook, you said that a few other heads of state would be present?" "Yes, Your Grace, I remember Baron Lee saying that there were a few others.", replied Cook. This would be interesting. He had met heads of state before, but never as a guest. "Perhaps we could trouble them with a meeting. Informal, of course, but it would be nice to get to know some others in a less restrictive setting than a state visit.", said the Duke. "Oh, here comes customs. Maitland, would you take care of our papers?"

Aurelia smiled as the girl came in and asked for a parasol, having nodded along - her father's favourite yacht had actually been built in Cuan. She grinned at that. If the timing was right, she might have even seen her!
But anyway, when the girl was selecting a parasol, Aurelia turned her attention back to Kumiko, getting out the appropriate amount of money. The other girl, which entered, looked pretty nice as well, but she went to browsing and Aurelia didn't want to interrupt.
"She's a good girl, isn't she?", she asked and handed the money over. "You can be very proud of her." With her purchases in hand, and a small part of her money in Kumiko's, she turned to the Yukatas. "I'm also interested in these... yukatas, you said their name was? The problem is, though..."
She looked down at herself, specifically her bust.
"...those two.", she finished, blushing lightly. "Mind if I try one on?"

"You are Grand Duke Herman?", asked the customs agent. "Yes, and that is Sergeant Major Cook and Corporal Maitland. We have been cleared to enter beforehand, and this authorization has been issued to allow my soldiers to keep their sidearms.", replied the Duke. Meanwhile, Cook and Maitland were helping the pilot unload their bags. "So, I'm supposed to pick you up in two days, sir?", asked the pilot. "Yes.", replied Cook.

"Cook! Maitland! We're clear! Let's get to the boat.", the Duke yelled, "Sweet Jesus! It is hot!" The three then proceeded to the boat that would take them to Aurora, the main island. According to the reports from Special Services, the arrangements were already made by agents in the country. The boat should take about half an hour to ferry them to the island. There, they would enjoy themselves for two days, see the sights, watch the festivals, and possibly have a meeting with the dignitaries present. The plan was nice and neat, just the way the Duke likes it.

Kumiko smiled at Aurelia's compliments "She's my one and only!" she said with great pride. "And she is a good sweet girl." She took the money, exact change which was easy. "Oh not to worry. If you'd like to try one on, I can have my partner Azusa help you."

The other woman here, Azusa the co-owner poked her head out from the back room "Oh need something?"

"She'd like to try on a yukata, I'll mind the front if you can give her a hand."

"No problem." She emerged around the counter to show Aurelia the selection of what they had. "Yukatas are very popular this time of year for festivals. Unless your the Oumae women here, then you just wear one all the time." she joked

"Hey I heard that, Azu-chan!" Kumiko sharply replied with her cheeks puffed out. Even it it was true. It was something she wore always because it was how she was raised and she out of habit was raising Mamiko the same.

"Anyway we have great variety of colors. Yellow is pretty popular because Kumiko always wears yellow and we had one commissioned for Her Majesty not long ago. pink is popular among women and young girls too. But we also have blues and greens. We offer Solids and print patterns. We also offer very customized like these ones that are shorter than a more traditional yukata. Some tourists find the traditional ones a bit cumbersome to walk in so they go for the shorter kind. Just a yukata will be 100 Island Credits but a whole set which includes a yukata, Kinchaku, Geta or Zori, Tabi or more regular socks. You can also remove anything you like from the package so long as you get at least one of the items. It'll run you 150-200 depending on what you pick out.

If there's something not quite catching your eye for a little extra we can commission one for you. We have a lovely seamstress and her daughters who makes these for us and naturally she's working a little overtime so it shouldn't be more than a day or two. In the meantime if you want to try one on or be fitted, feel free to pick anyone you like."

After cleared they were showed to the boat dock. Normally these folks would be military escorted but this wasn't a formal event so it was left to a civilian voulenteer who was busying shuttling folks from the Embassies and their residence to the islands if they so desired. Not a traditional ferry by any means it was quite a large sailboat, a custom made just for hauling lots of passangers between islands. Captained by Harukana Higa a Hoshine woman who ferried part time. "Good day folks!" She greeted them right now they were her only passengers for her first ferry of the day. "Welcome to the Islands."

Aurelia was overwhelmed for a short moment, but that calmed a moment later, which she used to ponder the possibilities.
She wanted something nice to wear for meeting Marcella, that was clear, and not only did she have the courtesy to get her hands on a Fistan Alshams, Kyrenaian Traditional Dress, when she had been in Kyrenaia, she had looked so beautiful in it. Aurelia had her own with her, but she wanted something typical AHSCA, not only to repay the courtesy, but also to experience the Islands fully and with the entire heart.
And to make Marcella happy, if she was honest.
"Well, let's see...", she said. She had the money to buy the entire store, if she wanted, so that was not the problem (though that did raise the question of whether or not they would accept the offer, Aurelia remembered a funny anecdote about that from a Handmaiden). "...it can't be more cumbersome then lamellar armour, that's for sure, but I'll go with traditional length... and a blue one. Preferably one, that emphasizes the eyes, maybe?" She looked at Azusa, then tried to spot one in the massive selection. "And solid, please."
The rest would come once she had one on and saw, how it worked.
She'd definately take the little purse and sandals, but which...?

"Sure, it doesn't matter if its done here or ashore" replied Kyrksen, "anyway here are our documents, sorry it had to be done this way, captain said the Bergen Star was too big to get into the port, hence you guys being called out to take us. Anyway, I'm Kyrksen Mc.Levy and this is my wife, Sojourner Louise Mc.Levy" he then hands over the passport for himself and his wife. "As for weapons, we don't have any, our country only permits ownership of long arms, and even then only bolt action ones with a fixed internal magazine, we can't even own a point two two pistol under domestic laws"

Sojourner, holding herself steady by gripping the railings of the small pilot boat looked over at the official "could it be the festival that has caused this? thats what Kyrk and I are here for" as she spoke, there was a glint of metal in her tongue, or rather 4, a ring at the tip and 3 studs further back, which is probably to no surprise to some given that Sojourner has a ring through the middle of her nose from which a chain hangs to a ring in her ear, not to mention that white of her left eye is electric blue after a deliberate injection of blue ink into her eye.
