I looked at Chris for a moment, as if he had said, that the sky was green, 'From the shop, of course' on my lips.
That expression very soon morphed into one, which was quite... wondering.
"You know...", I said, "...that is a very good question."
I didn't bring anything with me, both due to space in my baggage and due to me not knowing the laws concerning that in my stopovers, not wanting to get into any trouble here as well.
I also got his point: Sharing drinking songs while drinking tea was no fun.
"We'll have to ask later.", I said and motioned to our two tour guides. "I can't imagine, that the people here are completely dry, though. And if they do..." I shrugged, a mischievous glint in my eyes. "...we'll have to make do with tea."

Chris quite did notice the short moment Cel was wondering about his question - she had looked at him like a broken car. Then he felt as if she could read his minds. This was neither Lillorainen, nor the Free Lands, after all. And nobody in charge had ever bothered clarifying these issues in advance.
"Asking certainly can't harm" - he said. "And in worst case, we still got our tea party. Whatever sort of songs we're gonna sing then."
He suddenly got startled.
Apparently the mic was working.

I got startled by the mic, too, glaring in the general direction, before turning back to Chris, rolling my eyes - and remembering Irene's impromptu music performance earlier.
"That's going to be fun!", I said sarcastically, before I shook my head (my hair whipping a bit) and then smiled at Chris again, "Anyway, that does sound like a plan. If worst comes to worst, I know a few lullabies and other songs, that might fit and you certainly know a few as well. We'll manage."
That, I must say, was typically Selkie: Winging it, happy-go-lucky, but somehow still with a plan - but woe be to those, who angered us!

Irene breathed in once, and exhaled. 'Alright, Irene, you can do this.'
She gathered her courage and nodded at Karl.
He nodded back and began playing.

Irene waited for a second and began singing along.

OOC: Just pretend that it's a single girl/guy singing instead of several people. Also, in the case of Westerwaldlied, no whistles, I'm sorry.

Tyler walked into the campus he thought to him self " What is the Singing". He started walking towards the singing then he opened the door and saw many other students. "oh God so many People Come On Tyler you got this" He walked in to the room and looked in aw as an other student Irene. He Looked at her like he was looking at Stars in the Night Sky then he thought to himself " Is She Single, No she is a Beautiful Woman she must be dating Someone plus That's like a Plastic bag Dating a Goddess". He sat There with his hood over his head Blushing.

Marie blinked twice. "...who? I haven't heard of him, sorry..."

Our readers might well have expected David to be sorely disappointed at this ignorant remark, but if he was, he recovered very quickly indeed. "I'm glad you asked that, actually. My father," he replied, not letting a beat go gentle without his ever-widening smile to guide it, "my father, like our host, was a visionary. He was born a midget -- and not just any midget, he was the shortest ever, all of a foot and ten inches, with stumps for limbs and a voice that needed a modulator, a speech-generating device, so he could speak through it for the rest of his life."

Then David stopped, brow furrowed, thinking what else to say to honor his poor, departed father.

Catching that he had before him a captive audience of one (and a pretty whitey too, he said to himself), he went on, "My father was not embittered by his life as a cripple and, yes, a dwarf; that was his genetic lot. If the rest of his countrymen were as driven to perfection as he was, he would've accepted his fate." He paused, as if to let the silence (and the deep frown that had replaced the smile as he recounted his father's predicament) speak up for the fact, as he thought his father saw it, that the opposite was true.

Then he began to rap one hand on the table, soundless as it went, as he enumerated what he thought were the faults of his father's people: "Miscegenation. Globalism. Communism. Feminism. Mass immigration. Modernism and post-modernism. Political correctness. All kinds of addictions. Corruption and degredation. All conspiring to undermine not only the United States, but the whole white race and all of Western civilization." He stopped speaking (and rapping his hand) again, the better to let Donald D. Dwarf's list of indictments sink in and into the recesses of Maria's mind -- even as images of his nigger half-sister Bengal, the eldest of them siblings and the apple of his father's eye, whereabouts currently unknown, flashed through his own. "He was embittered, he was enraged, and so he ran for president of the United States and won, against great odds. Then" -- and here David's smile returned, brighter than ever -- "he made the United States great again, keeping his promise to those who elected him, by systematically purging it of the filth of yesteryear." He rapped his hand again, in the same soundless fashion, even as his voice grew more venomous with the recitation: "Journalists. Liberals. Socialists. Communists. Immigrants. Criminals. Druggies. Tree-huggers. Uppity bitches. Homos. Niggers. Spics. Kikes. He wiped them all out."

David stared at Marie -- just stared at her -- for what seemed like an eternity but was in reality more like half a minute, as his smile slackened and his lower jaw came down in a fit of utter stupefaction, while all around them the room filled up in a riot of lied after lied supplied by Irene, Karl, and company.

Then, without another word to Marie or anyone else, with his face in much the same dumbstruck state as before, he got up from his chair, walked out of the rabble of students cheering and eating, and began to make his way out of the room.

Marie looked confused, but then shrugged. She stood up and approached the table where Bedivere, Ana, etc were sitting. She tapped Bedivere on the shoulder. "Hi there... Is there a seat open here?"

He certainly was not going to turn away her, especially if it meant keeping her as far away from that ill mannered brute as humanely possible.

Marie nodded. "Sounds great."
After Ana began, she picked up alongside her.
For Marie, this song had a special place in her heart; every Christmas Eve, before bed, the school choir(Those that were staying over the holdiays, anyway) went down to the chapel and sang it as the resident priest put out the candles. While she wasn't quite as gifted at singing as Ana was, she still was rather talented at it, and managed to hold her own.

Irene was actually crying when they finished. "Beautiful..."
She dabbed at her tears with a tissue and smiled. She took back the microphone before handing it to Karl. He cleared his throat and began speaking. "Alright, next up is Szara Piechota(The Grey Infantry). He sat down at the piano and prepared his sheet music.
Irene put her flute to her lips and began playing, as did Karl.
After a short period he began to sing.

Meamwhile Marie sat next to Ana.
"...you were pretty good, where did you learn?"

When Irene and Karl sang, I had to admit, that I was pleasantly surprised: The guy on the piano could play it and he was actually quite good, I have to admit. Irene was... better then I expected, but I thought, that she still had much to learn and experience to gather. They sang some songs of trivial simplicity which required little to no skill, ideal for marching soldiers, who thought music was a type of fruit.
Still, I applauded politely as they finished their first songs.
Then, Ana and Marie were together on stage and much like Aida and Lisolette, they were wonderful. I saw, that Irene was moved to tears and although I understood the German version, I was not actively crying. Still, it was a beautiful duet and I closed my eyes to let the music wash over me like the endless seas.
Those two were wonderful - when they were finished, I applauded frenetically. I even resisted the urge to give them standing ovations.
When Irene and Karl took the stage again, no doubt singing another song of trivial simplicity (and I would be right), I turned to Chris, grinning: "Those two were wonderful!"

Aida watched from her seat as Karl and Irene sang a bunch of German songs that she couldn't understand. She applauded them between plates of appetizers, impressed by their singing (it wasn't too bad) even though she didn't know a single word. Then it was two girls whom she hadn't seen much so far. One of the girls she didn't know the name of and the other being Marie, the poor girl who shyly approached David. They did what they claimed was a Schubert song, the first girl singing it in Latin and Marie in German. No one in Aida's family was into Schubert; Mama she remembered was more into Chopin and the Strausses, and Papa was more into rock. At the end of the performanxe she applauded them. "It's great!" she exclaimed from her seat.

When Aida had come back to their table and taken her seat again, Chris had grinned and said, "See? You were great!"
He quite did enjoy Karl's and Irene's interpretations, especially the one of the Westerwaldlied - he had practically grown up with soldiers' songs, mostly taught by his grandparents, who, back in the 1970s, had fought in the Lillorainian Unification War (pretty much every Lillo born around 2000 had grandparents who were veterans of that war). Many of these sounded similar.
Still, Ana and Marie were gorgeous. Chris couldn't help it but exclaimed "Alter Lachs, sin' d'joot!" ('Gosh, they're great!') in his homeland's variant of his mother tongue.
Just like Cel, Chris closed his eyes when listening to their song.
When he opened them again, they were finished. Like Cel and Aida, he applauded them, once whistling with his fingers in between.
He grinned. "If I had known we've got so many good singers with us on this trip, I'd have taken some exercise lessons before!"
