I was looking through the International Incidents forum when I came across a discussion thread about a nationstates war based of of NS stats. I found this very interesting and wanted to take it one step further. The location of the war would not take place in the real world, but a fantasy map where nations can claim a certain amount of land depending on how large their NS stats say their nation is. During the course of the war, nations can expand more by annexing other nations or claiming or occupying adjacent land.
The war would revolve around the three core statistics; that being Political Freedom, Civil Rights and Economy. Military technology would be based on scientific advancement and Industry: Arms Manufacturing and information technology whilst quantity would be based on defense forces, health, whether there is compulsory military service or not, and population. This allows more veteran nations to have bigger influence on the war than smaller ones. Nations that have been around longer are more likely to have fought more wars in the past and have more than likely grown their military greater than newly independent ones.
However, there are other ways to fight a war than just conventional warfare. Diplomatic solutions may be sought to peacefully annex another nation. Low Civil Rights and/or high Political Freedom will result to nations being susceptible to public outcry. Corruption and authoritarianism statistics could lead to easier assassination attempts, and so on.
Tech level
Every nation’s score starts at 10. If your final score is above 10 your nation’s tech level is high and the quality of your weapons are better (more effective in combat). If your score is below 10 your nation’s tech level is low with low quality weapons (less effective in combat).
Scientific advancement is above 95: +3
Scientific advancement is below 95: -3
Spend over 10,000 NSD on arms manufacturing: +4
Spend below 10,000 NSD on arms manufacturing: -4
Spend over 5,000 NSD on information technology: +2
Spend below 5,000 NSD on information technology: -2
Economy strong or above: +2
Economy Good or below: -2
Nations with a low tech level do not have weapons of mass destruction. They are also only allowed to be MT whereas other high tech nations may be PMT.
Military size
Below is how you can calculate the amount of active and reserve military personnel in your nation. The final percent is the percent of people in your nation that are physically capable of serving in the military.
Countries below 900 million citizens start at 5%
Spend over 2,250 NSD on defense forces: +3%
Spend below 2,250 NSD on defense forces: -3%
Bad health: -2%
Good health: +2%
Compulsory military service: +5%
Countries above 900 million citizens start at 2%
Spend over 2,250 NSD on defense forces: +1%
Spend below 2,250 NSD on defense forces: -1%
Bad health (less than 2 bananas ingested per person every day): -1%
Good health (more than 2 bananas ingested per person every day): +1%
Compulsory military service: +2%
Public Unsatisfactory
This is how you may calculate the satisfaction of your citizens. The final percent is the percent chance of revolts, assassination attempts on national leaders, and revolutions.
All countries start at 20% (lowest percent is 0, cannot go into negatives)
Countries with corruption above 6 kickbacks per hour: +30%
Countries with corruption below 6 kickbacks per hour: -30%
Countries with authoritarianism above 570: +20%
Countries with authoritarianism below 570: -20%
Integrity above 92 percent bribes refused: -20%
Integrity below 92 percent bribes refused: +20%
Civil rights very good or above: -30%
Civil rights good or below: +30%
Political freedom very good or above: -30%
Political freedom good or below: +30%
Other actions that occur during the war may effect public satisfaction.
The percentage also indicates what is happening in your nation when the IC thread begins.
0%-40% -Peace
40% -Terrorist attack
50% -Soldiers begin to refuse to fight
60% -Assassination attempt on nation leader
80% -Revolution, including riots in the streets
100+% -Massive Civil War
Future rules if IC is created
-Only MT and PMT is allowed to be used.
-No unjustified war, this means that you must state your war goal as well as having a reason in your declaration of war.
-No Out Of Character in the In Character forum.
-Keep use of Weapons of Mass Destruction to an extreme minimum. You should rarely, if ever, use them against a player.
-No godmoding.
- In Character posts and messages must at least contain three paragraphs. Put some effort into your IC posts
-Don't do messages for one thing. By this, I mean don't just write a paragraph for responding to an email or something. Do multiple sections each with a different purpose.
-Improper grammar is unacceptable, including applications. If you can't write English properly, you will be removed.
-No apocalyptic weaponry. There is no warning for this.
-Let war build up before it breaks out. This applies to players mostly. When some guy puts a toe onto your land, don't declare war.
-If you are quoting someone, only quote the part that you are commenting on.
-Word of OP is law, unless there is good reason to debate in a civil manner.
-You will be kicked after two weeks of IC inactivity, no questions asked.
-If you're sending a letter you need to write it out, and include an encryption level.
Let me know if there is anything that you think should be adjusted. If enough nations are interested, an official OOC and IC thread will be created as well as a joining application.
