" I am overjoyed for the final ruling on this bill. I believe, with the right direction and commitment, that the ISDA will strive to benefit us all in times of good and bad. May we all be in peace under ISDA."

Hikn smiles, as he sits back down and makes another phone call.

Senator Viscountess Nedda Bosniaa steps up.

"First off welcome to the senate chambers Archbishop Julian Venizelos. I look forward to hearing your views in the ongoing bills this International Senate will discuss. However I really had to step up and call foul on your assumption that Lieutenant-General Jacob Parks does not have the same volume of experience. Lieutenant-General Jacob Parks was off leading his fellow soliders while Genreal Romain was playing hopscotch.

We also condemn Senator Wardleskin for her scare tactics by implying if General Romain is not choosen the nation may walk. How unprofessional is this?. If the West Phoenician choice is not picked we would not walk away. If a nation threatened to do that, that is childish and immature and makes having there General promoted to an important role in the ISDA laughable. When the heat is on will they simply throw a hissyfit and walk away?

Our concern is that General Romain comes from a region where female superiority is held in high esteem, a region where males are treated as second class citizens. We want to know how far General Romain believes in the inequality in that region. And if the region has influenced her thought process?

"First of all, Senator, we did not suggest that we would walk if we did not have our candidate chosen," Kohath said. "What was considered insulting was clearly a misunderstanding, and I have already apologized for my part in it. I have said that your general has many admirable qualities, so there is no need to be offended at any notions we may have of General Park. Though I'm sure we can all imagine General Romain playing hopscotch, very charming family image to warm the heart of the coldest soul.

"As for this issue of female superiority...it is held in high esteem in Deadora and the Shrailleeni Empire there, which are both matriarchies, as is the breakaway state of Kehrahn. New Edom actually has few female officers of high rank, and so for General Romain to rise to her present one is a remarkable feat. General Romain supports our constitution, which has a high regard for monarchy and for democratic rights and freedoms. She commands both men and women and is fair to each. I hope that answers your questions, senator."

"We have no questions for the nominees. We just pray may the best equipped General be assigned to lead the ISDA. As this is a rotating role, we do suggest no nation has back to back leadership of the ISDA"

General Parks, at Načes Unidas, who had sat quietly during Aurelia and Kohath’s argument finally stood up. “While I may not agree with my more...outspoken colleague’s choice of words, I do support Lt General Parks. However, Senator Kohath has made an excellent suggestion, that of a “tribunal”, or a job interview, for those of you who have capitalism as a national policy. It would allow those of us on the fence to truly decide.”

Senator Khanabul and Wardleskin are seen quietly arguing with each other on who to vote for. Eventually Senator Wardleskin stands up to deliver Agarntrop's verdict:

"Senator Kokath, I apologise for misunderstanding your nation's would-be policy if Lt General Parks were elected. Due to the fact New Edom has clearly stated they will not walk out in such an event my argument has been weakened. I have had a discussion with Senator Khanabul and we have both eventually agreed his arguments for Lt General Parks outweigh mine for Lt General Romain. So, with regret, I can clarify that Agarntrop will be voting for Lt General Parks."

Hikn's aides rush up to the convener, telling him that the Senator will not be able to attend for the next three days.

They then briefly exit the hall.

Khanabul stands up:

"Senators, the liberal party has been in existence for weeks and it still hasn't created a constitution. I have warned Senator Harper that if he did not make a constitution by 3pm gmt time then I would resign from the party. It is now (Senator Khanbul pears at his watch) 3.56 PM gmt and the liberal party hasn't created a constitution despite my warnings. Therefore ,with regret, I announce I am leaving the liberal party. Thank you, Mr Speaker."

Speech is Silver, Silence is Golden.

Senator James Gunner Marshall-Bakker had been watching the debate go on and on for a while. He had given his private opinions on all candidates to the Prime Minister, Sir Henry J.R.R. Jaeger XII. He waited for a response while the Prime Minister called an emergency meeting of parliament on who to vote for. Soon, he got a response. He was to vote for General Parks. When it was his time to speak, he stood up. "Senators of the International Senate, the nation of Krenorus has decided to vote for General Parks. We believe that General Parks will be able to efficiently lead the ISDA. Thank you."

Leonard Smithens, stands up from his chair. "I second this motion. I believe that we should have a regional flag - in fact, i have made a design and would like criticism on it. We should definently have a flag to represent our unity and power in nationstates."

Kohath said, "I will support whatever flag is proposed unless there are a lot of alternatives. My concern is this: how will our forces be staffed? General Parks will need senior general officer as well as junior officer staff. Will he be providing his own or will it be multi-national? And should we begin discussing what contributions are available and encourage General Parks to start planning exercises? What material support will we have?" he smiled. "Of course these questions need to be settled with his advice, so I recommend this, simply: we should meet with General Parks and find out what his proposals are for these and other questions."

"For New Edom's part, we are prepared to offer for regular support one brigade combat team with supporting transport and air support. That would either be an air support squadron or a naval squadron. Now: would there be a possible agreement about refueling and resupply among member states? By resupply, I mean things like parts, batteries, fuel, food, water, medical supplies."

Leonard said, "Exactly. We need to have a hearing for General Parks - and we need to get down all the stuff previously mentioned by my fellow senator. However, we should move away from the ISDA in a short time - or else we may become entrenched in ISDA related issues. So, we should hurry it along.
And the flag proposals? If anybody has a different design proposal, we can have a vote on it, much less the incorporation of a senate/ ISDA flag. This issue needs to be resolved too. Thank you."

Leonard continued, "As for military support, 2 million active soldiers are active and are ready to be sent to ISDA training grounds. Military equipment from Huffingshire however, is strictly regulated to help industry. Knowing that i represent a peaceful and pacifist government, along with the soldiers, we will be able to donate several million dollars of foreign aid and supply aid. Thank you."

Sitting down in his seat, Leonard Smithens sighed. He thought: "If we can't get this ISDA figured and ruled, out we may be at risk of senate collapse. This isn't good. We need to get this finished, one way or the other."

Jacob Haas slowly stands and moves to the pulpit facing the senators. He stands still, almost looking as if he was holding his breathe. After a few moments he open his mouth to speak, “I would like to congratulate General Parks for being elected as executive head of the ISDA, and I do feel that a hearing would be appropriate, but before that happens I need to make an announcement. Senators, it has been a pleasure to work with you. Having been the speaker of the senate since the founding of this organization, I have seen the growth of this body and have met many great people.” He pauses and looks down griping the sides of the pulpit tightly. “At this time I will now announce my resignation. It is not because of corruption or bad health, but I feel that a new speaker of the senate must be elected to give this great opportunity to other nations. As my last action, I would like to hold a vote on the next speaker of the senate. This vote will be a hidden vote, and a ballot box can be found at the center of this chamber. If a nation would like to propose a candidate, please do so now.”

Marco Aurelia nods towards Jacob, inclining his head respectfully. “Mr. Haas, it has been an honor working with you. May you find success in whatever new ventures you embark upon.”

“Now, we consulted the Kowani Vexilology Department, about the flags and they sent this back.

While not a flag per se, it is an emblem of sorts. On the topic of the ISDA, Kowani is ready to donate several naval squadrons (including an aircraft carrier), another 2 armored divisions, and several platoons of standard infantry. Now, most Kowani equipment is plasma powered, so we would like to propose an R&D program between various nations, so as to make equipment uniform between national units, so as to alleviate some supply issues. It does us no good if we run out of bullets because everyone uses different styles of weapons.”

Leonard Smithens stands up politely from his chair. With a feeling of energy, he begins to speak:

"Senators, I would like to thank the Honorable Jacob Haas for being the speaker of this honorable senate he so proudly founded, in spite of all the challenges that came his way. I would like to thank him for this amazing dedication and would like to honor him with my highest praise. However, this resignation looks so far to be noncompetitive. Therefore, I, Leonard Smithens, senator from Huffingshire, would like to propose my candidacy for the Speaker of the International Senate. I will try my best as speaker to uphold this noble institution, and to advance it forward in to uncertain times, amongst the threats of raiders that darken many new and old regions hopes alike. As speaker, I will try to push this noble senate into the future, to make it the prominent worldwide assembly for all!"

An energized look on his face, he continues:
"Thank you senators. Thank you Jacob Haas. I promise to be a great candidate to whoever takes up the election challenge."

He then sits down.

Senator Wardleskin stands up excitedly:
"Senators! I am proud to announce that the headquarters of the ISDA has been planned in the city of Plukanaz-nite in Agarntrop. It will consist of two fifty story skyscrapers and a central compound. The skyscrapers shall be for planning operations and background work, and the central compound shall be where the official meetings, summits and visits take place. I hope all members consider building there own ISDA-related buildings in their territory. Construction will begin on the 1st September."

Lord Phineas Castleton takes the stand, looking like he walked straight out of the 19th century.

"Senators, I am quite aware that the great empire which I represent is new to this Senate; nonetheless I put myself forward for the position of speaker. In these drastically changing times we require a drastically new vision, a vision that I believe I can provide. My nation is stronger for it's unity, might, and egalitarianism, under my leadership this senate shall be the same. You may not trust me dear Senators, but please consider my words today and vote for a better direction for the senate. Vote for Castleton."

Lord Phineas returns to his seat and takes several large gulps of water.

Senator Khanabul takes his seat, smiling but showing no true emotion:
"I would like to inform the senate that I personally endorse Learnord Smithens to be the speaker of the international Senate. Firstly, as he is the most experienced candidate as he has been a member of this organisation far longer than senator Castleton. Secondly, as I used to be in his party and therefore know him well, I can tell this house with certainty that he is very efficient and would do a fantastic job at being speaker of this house.
