Senator Information Sheet
Formal Nation Name: The Free Empire of Vaktaria
Senator Name: Lord Phineas Castleton, Baron of Wellstone
Senator Gender: Male
Senator Age: 36
Senator Height: 5'10"
Senator Weight: 13st 5lbs
Senator Past Experience: Former Representative in The Parliament of Atlas
Senator Ideology: Fiscal Conservative
Join a Party (optional): Economic Coalition
Appearance: Overweight and balding, the Baron is rarely seen outside of court dress in public; a blue uniform decorated with medallions and chains, an ornamented sword handle at his side (blade absent).
Main Strengths: An old, proud family name as well as the Emperor's favour makes him confident and stubborn in debate.
Main Weaknesses: Being unused to being disrespected in any way, he can be put off by personal attacks.
Biography: Born into the centuries old Noble Castleton family, Lord Phineas was brought up as a country gentlemen. Due to his upbringing away from the concentrated and competitive city of Reichland, very little was expected of the young Lord when at the age of 12, his father died and left the estate and title of Baron of Wellstone to Lord Phineas. Shortly after his fathers death, Lord Phineas was taken to Court and pledged allegience to Emperor Reigner II; after this he remained at court and showed remarkable alacrity for a boy his age. Perhaps his competence and ambitions within court are why he was granted the honour of representing Vaktaria at the Regional Parliament of Atlas at the age of 20, where he served for 8 illustrious years before a scandal about a supposed love affair caused the Lord to resign from his position and return to his estate where he remained far from the public eye until a recent visit to Court in Reichland during which he was again granted a great honour to represent Vaktaria's interests at the International Senate if the nations application was to be accepted.
Other Info:

This application has been reviewed and has been accepted. Welcome to the International Senate Phineas Castleton.

She studied law, and decided to become a civil servant, to aid the country that gave her the privilege. She served the state in many controversial lawsuits, including the famous MacCallow v. She got married to John C. Leareggar, a progressive politician, in 2012, but her marriage eventually failed in 2016. Accepted, welcome to the International Senate. Joan Ormundt-Leareggar has also been accepted into the Economic Coalition Party. I would like it if you added another weakness to your senator though.

Inter-alliance wars are possible, I just never though someone would want to do one. It is also an option to drop out of the ISDA.

Understood.
EDIT: But if you side with them against us or it becomes clear you're no longer dedicated, you'll be ejected from the alliance.

I don't necessary see this as an alliance, and I think both can be utilised to ensure happiness for people in my country.

Would it be easier to now spin off the ISDA into its own thread. So it doesnt clog up the IS thread?

Yes, I agree. The ISDA is taking much more time and space than I thought it would. We need to get the IS discussing important issues and bills once more. I can create the thread for the ISDA, but since I am not in the alliance I would recommend that the creator of the bill or the executive head make it.

The IS has been pretty slow lately. I want to start debating bills again, but we can't do that until a new speaker is elected. If no other candidates for speaker of the house are produced in the next two days, the position will go to the second senator of Allyrije.

I would like to propose my candidacy for speaker of the international senate. I would like to give an air of democracy to this speaker position - I don't want it to just default, which is uninspiring and also not motivating for people to get on and vote. Thanks!

Thank you for being willing to run for the position. Your nations may also add another senator to the senate if you would like to still have votes on bills.

Sure! We will apply for a new senator, in the absence of Leonard Smithens. Can the speaker of the senate vote on bills?

Yes and no. The speaker can only vote on a bill when it is a tied vote, otherwise he is just to monitor the voting.

Okay, cool! When will the... Elections? Wait, what are we doing to appoint the speaker? A race? Perhaps you could explain? Does Leonard Smithens automatically become speaker? And if so, sould I appoint a new senator? So many questions... I hope you can answer them.

I'm back, and I was away longer than I expected. So, what's happening? The IC forum hasn't been active lately.

Current Affairs
The President's Council has initiated its first Executive Session. They have reviewed 5 issues throughout the first session, one of which was one where the President gave the go-ahead to quarantine an area which has been infected by a disease previously thought to have been eradicated. | The conservatives tried to repeal the Freedom of Drug Use Act, with the majority of them said Aye to the repeal. Although, the liberals managed to overpass their vote, with their votes totalling a 78% of the total votes. | Something's cooking in the Assembly kitchen.......

...We never got past the ISDA. I’ve got a new bill that I’ve been sitting on, but with no Speaker of the House, we can’t initiate the session, so I can’t present it. :(
