Aeia in your Pulse!

Welcome to Aeiavision Song Contest 2018, hosted at Alemin Arena in Elenaborg, Aleia!

Image
Location of Elenaborg

Information for Foreigners
Elenaborg is a city of one million people situated at the western coast of Aleia. It is the largest city and the hub of Western Aleia, and is famous for its Lhedwinic architecture as well as being the home of the music group XGlobal. It was in November 2017 chosen as the host city for Aeiavision 2018 after an online vote throughout the country, an honor which the city accepted graciously. The organizers have since then worked without rest to ready the city, especially Alemin Arena, for the contest, and now all are excited to see the result of their labor.

Alemin Arena, the site of the event

The event is expected to begin at 21:00 25th May and to end at 03:00 26th. The doors into the concert hall will open at 18:00. Voting will commence after all participating artists have performed, which has usually been at 23:00 - 00:00. After the end of the event, you will have a chance to meet the artists at the lane to the press conference, as they will be stopping in the open lounge in the Arena. There will be information booths, first aid stations and police squads set up at the most frequented areas.

Alemin Arena can be accessed by bus and subway. Bus routes 20 (Airport – Inostranic Hotel), 21 (Airport – Vaha Hotel), 30 (Stave Square – South Ferry Terminal - Voksenskogen) and 35 (Neverag Memorial – Central Station - Norbukt) stop at Alemin Arena Station. Subway Line 2 and 3, as well as Train Line 13 (Elenaborg Central - Senerhavan Central) stop at Stave Avenue South Station. The transport schedule has been modified to accommodate for the added activity. If there are further questions about transport you may call +0047 1881, or eventually consult an information booth at Alemin Arena.

All tickets for the event have been sold out prior to the 25th. It is not advised to come to the event without a ticket, as non-shows will be few for this type of event. Although refreshments will be sold the entire time from 21:00 to 03:00, you are encouraged to bring your own food and drinks as sale supplies may deplete at any time. Note that none of the planned after-event parties are hosted by official Aeiavision or Aleian organizations. Entry into the official press conferences taking place both prior and after the event are by invite only. Please refrain from any inappropriate activities throughout the time Aeiavision is active, or you may be liable to removal from the gathering and a fine imposed according to Aleian law. Due to the nature of this contest, be aware that political activities are heavily discouraged.

If you are still interested in Elenaborg after the event, its citizens have suggested a sightseeing into its old town, a WECO world heritage site, where the yearly soup festival is being held. The Queen Elena Square has also proved itself a popular sight. For more information regarding tourism in Elenaborg and Vesterland, consult the website http://www.vesterlena.ale.

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s contest!

Lights off.

The cheers coming out of the audience turn to silence. No more calls for “Mid-Ra-Si-a!” or “Crylante, Crylante!”. For the seconds that pass there is a complete silence. Except for a few shouts, nothing. Only small light gradually starts to illuminate the reveals the stage, and that is enough to make the audience start cheering even higher, as they hear the familiar tunes of the dark horse winner of 2017: Rising Heroes’ Savior, which despite being a last-minute entry clinched the winning number of points, and sent the contest to Aleia. The Aleians in the crowd enjoy the remembrance of last year, almost deafening the artists themselves.

When the three minutes of last year’s winner have passed, they bow and take their leave, leaving a man and a woman to walk onto the stage. The woman takes up her microphone confidently, “Gav Kvel, Aeia! That was the Rising Heroes' rendition of “Savior” and, welcome to Aeiavision Song Contest 2018! We hope you are just as excited as us for tonight! I am Vaivran and the gentleman beside me and I will be your hosts!”

Beside her stands her fellow host, whom the audience can already recognize by his duck-pattern suit. “19 Countries! 19 countries have submitted a song for the finale this year, all of which will introduce themselves soon and have their spot in the hours to come. So, let’s give them our welcome! Oh, and my name is Anton by the way, but that is not important.

“No, because they of course all know it already…”

“I believe you are talking nonsense. What is important for you is to say hello to:

Bevenia!

Biladia!

Brilliania!

Crylante!

Cuirpthe!

Dayganistan!

Dreyvisevich!

Elhazia!

Hipasia!

Isolaprugna!

Kagon!

Midrasia!

Motsvara!

Navack!

Onza!

Ostrovia!

Tyronova!

Vrnallia!

And Aleia!"

The cheering resumes, and instead of silencing itself it becomes even louder as the first artist comes into sight, starting the contest.

Live from the Brillian comentary on BEA1
And that was the winner of last year, Rising Heroes! The hosts are ready for another exhilarating night. Over the past weeks, eighteen countries selected their entries, some internally and some via their own little contests, like we did. Apparently we're performing first!
Now, let's listen to the hosts, Vaivran and Anton. And by the way, Anton's outfit is really interesting.

And here's the flag parade.
There is Mallagoya, looking all fancy in her white dress! She will be the first performer. Last night during the jury performance, Mallagoya performed at her best, but a malfunction of the fog machine hindered the performance. I hope that's fixed.

Now that the flag parade is done, we're directly going to the first entry - which is ours!
We will tell some background information about each artist beforehand.

Mallagoya Otadia is one of the purveyors of modern Brillian folk.
She has performed all over Brilliania, and was selected for the preselection "Kanta" by the BEA panel.
Her entry "Hegoak", which means "Wings", is way different from the staple pop found in Aeiavision.
By the way, you can use the #BRL, #TaldeMallagoya and #Mallagoya hashtags on Chirper and Solas. Please note that it's not allowed to vote for your own country, that would be like plugging a power strip's cable into itself.
Let's hope for the best, lets go Mallagoya!
Commentary ends

The LED screen lights up in the national colours of red-yellow-blue and the graphics appear on screen. Applause sounds from the arena, and the lights go down, accompanied by a sound.

Image

The staging involves Mallagoya in a white dress, accompanied by 4 members of the Mens' Choir Zeru standing higher on the stage, and a flutist. There is a thick layer of fog on the stage, and the background consists of cliff scenes, like the music video.
The instrumental starts, with the choir members singing and the flautist playing.
Mallagoya starts singing, with the choir functioning as backing vocals.
Hegoak ebaki banizkio
Neuria izango zen
Ez zuen alde egingo

Hegoak ebaki banizkio
Neuria izango zen
Ez zuen alde egingo

Ez zen gehiago
xoria izango

Bainan horrela
Ez zen gehiago
xoria izango

Eta nik,
xoria nuen maite
Eta nik eta nik,
xoria nuen maite

An instrumental break starts, with the choir still singing. The background changes to skies.
The camera moves to the Zeru members, which are dressed in traditional rural Brillian clothing.
Some very patriotic fans start waving their Brillian flags very hardly. They are also dressed in red-yellow-blue clothing and holding banners.
The second and final singing part starts.
Bainan horrela
Ez zen gehiago
xoria izango

Bainan horrela
Ez zen gehiago
xoria izango

Eta nik,
xoria nuen maite
Eta nik eta nik,
xoria nuen maite

The final choir part starts. The camera pans to the Zeru members, like in the first choir part.
After the song ends, all 6 people on stage including Mallagoya bow to the crowd. The crowd is impressed by the performance and applauds.
The Brillian entry.
Commentary resumes
Wow, we were really impressed with our entry. It's lovely to see the fog working. We must congratulate the camerapeople for the amazing shots. Time for the second entry!

Flavjen Sjal: Well, that was the Brillian entry. Rather moving, if you ask me.

Now, onto our entry. Nice to see the audience's cheering of us; I can see the Crylantian flag flying across the audience right now. Our singer is one of the joint youngest in the competition, at the age of 17. But the audience fell in love with him at Nøys cante pro Aleie, and thus he's representing our nation and all it represents here now.

He's been with the broadcasting team here in Elenaborg, Aleia since the start of the week, performing in rehearsals and the like across the week. His nervousness, which would be expected from such a young performer at such a large event, was highly apparent at the start of the week, but he's definitely got more confident as it's gone on, performing to larger audiences as the week progresses.

You will not be able to vote for this entry, unfortunately, in the voting process, but your support towards our artist could make all the difference; if residents of other countries see the vibrant community behind our artist supporting him, they will surely give us their votes and help us succeed. And if you have any family in other areas of Asura, we would highly recommend you request they give their support to our artist; it's the least they can do.

Anyway, the wait is over. Here's Jakobsson with Hvis jeg var undskyld!

Commentary on VRTV2
"So much for the Crylantian entry! What did you think of our neighbour's choice, Sàra?"

"You know, Dogu, I thought choosing someone so young was a risk, but to see it here tonight ─ yes, it was a great performance! And it seems one young artist is followed by another, for here comes our own country's submission, the trio Hachtozaš Mbupsòš!"

"Indeed it is. I must say, hearing people try to pronounce that name has been no small amusement to me. Sàra, is that a Vrnallian flag I see in the crowd? Just there, you see?"

"Ah, I think it is! Anyway, the band ─ brothers Diad and Horeč Jesiu and their friend Màgas Godóg ─ is taking to the stage now. To them, with their song Thiuvehijat!"
End of commentary

The screen lights now with bars of red and yellow ─ the Vrnallian flag. The lights then dim to almost nothing.

The Vrnallian entry. OOC: assume the lyrics are in Vrnallian.
Image

A guitar begins to play, and gradually the lights increase. The crash of a drum begins, and the band is fully visible, drummer Horeč flanked by the guitarists, Diad and Màgas. Much as in the song's music video, the screen behind shows scenes of the Vrnallian coasts and cliffs, waves crashing against land. Diad begins to sing:

Holupnonušta
Dusi id aziekovij hejnaskava
Dus lucihudnju
Dusi id aziekovij hejnaskava

As in the treaty
Power and lordship over their homeland
This was given
Power and lordship over their homeland

The song continues. When there is a lull in the song, the lights dim, to brighten once again when the pace increases. A fairly thick layer of fog covers the feet and lower legs of the guitarists. At the end of the song, the verse sung in Lhedwinic, with the occasional Vrnallian word mixed in, which led to some controversy during the selection process, is heard.

I tag'r og tager
Men i kan ej tag' fra hvem vi er
I kan ej tag' vor janún
I kan ej tag' vor Vrnaljajem
I kan ej tag' vort folket
I kan ej tag' vor hejnikhmonuš
I kan ej tag', kan ej tag,
Tyveri

And with the end of the song, the three join their arms and bow as one before the audience. The fog disperses as the band leaves the stage.
It's Guakok now. She/her or they/them, pick your favourite.

LIVE TRANSMITION: NOMADS OF SUMMERS AT ELENABORG

Finn: Good evening, Navack! We’re back after this amazing performance from Hachtozaš Mbupsòš! Once again, here is Finn Hansen and Johanna Valla in the magestral company of Oddvar Erpursson, one of the great singers from the legendary 70’s disco group “NorDisco!” Johanna, Oddy… what a tricky name huh?

Johanna: Definetly, Finn! I must say i lived five years in Zalejk and i never really learned Vrnallian hahaha! But besides that, the Vrnallian trio had an amazing performance, just as our southern neighbors and the other 2 bands before! But now, all the excitement for our representants! Nomads of Summer, the very famous folk band from Helsingfors will play in a few minutes, and nobody’s better than Oddvar here to tell us a bit more about this Andalsi group.

Odd: Good night all! It’s an honor to be here with you guys tonight, and i’m very excited to see NoS’s performance soon! I’ve always lived in Helsingfors, and i remember when they became a thing, not just by their good music, but because of their support in the Andalsi cause, related to conserving our beautiful and millennial culture. By the way, i think that Vrnallian flag they showed earlier was just one of the many Andalsi flags in the crowd, hahaha! I’m very excited to see their show.

Finn: And just in time, ladies and gentlemen! Nomads of Summer on the stage, enjoy the show!

Image

With all light off, a soft breeze sound starts, and a gentle electric guitar starts playing. It plays rhythms that resemble old nordic music, creating a “wintery” and nordic atmosphere in the Arena. The solo keeps playing, growing in tempo, until the drummer’s sticks countdown. The lights are turned on at once, revealing a stage under white light, and all the five musicians dressed in white. The band starts playing at the same time, in a majestic explosion of sound. Some Navish and Andalsi fans can be hear singing along the song:

Stop
You're cold against the skin
You take me in your arms
When walls are closing in

And I run, I run, I run
Awakening my heart
But you overwhelm my lungs
And it's tearing me apart

You and I will not be shaken
By the winter sound
But my voice is suffocating
In the winter sound

Stop
I will take control
Bend the metal
Into shapes that I know

And I run, I run, I run
Further than before
I shake away the skin
To saturate my soul

You and I will not be shaken
By the winter sound
But my voice is suffocating
In the winter sound

At this moment, the music stops for a while. The crowd cheers and the Andalsi wave their flags and scream Andalsi sayings. The singer Agusta Leonardsdottir goes behind the stage and grabs a flag: half Navish flag, and half Andalsi flag. “Good night, Elenaborg! it’s such a pleasure for us to be here tonight! I’d like to salute all the other participants here and ask for an awesome show! Are you ready for some more!?” She starts singing along alone, without any back instruments.

You scream, you scratch, you bite
You prey on my heart
And I know that you and I
Can never be apart…

The whole band resumes the song in an instrumental and vocal sequence, followed by the last couple chorus:

You and I will not be shaken
By the winter sound
But my voice is suffocating
In the winter sound (2x)

Applauses follow their performance as they thank the crowd and go backstage.

Finn: Wow! That was… amazing! What an amazing show by Nomads of Summer!

Odd: And that’s what i said. They can easily charm the crowd with their music, and Agusta with the flag… What a nice and beautiful touch! An amazing performance, for sure!

Johanna: And stay tuned, the next artist will be coming on stage soon! And tomorrow, we’ll have Nomads of Summer here, with us, for a nice chat!

Live from Elenaborg, its Aeiavison 2018!
Chris: Good morning, Motsvara! At least for you. It's the middle of the night here, and everyone is excited for the performance by our own band, Varulve!

Anton: That's right Chris. Selected by you, the fans, last year, Varulve was Motsvara's number one pic as our bid for the Aeiavison contest. Everybody is counting on their win back home. We're following up after the performance of Navack's Nomads of Summer. Quite the song they've played tonight.

Chris: Indeed it was! The amazing performance was one of my favorite tonight, and many of our fans seem to agree. If Motsvara doesn't win, many are supporting our old parent nation in the voting booths.

Anton: Alright, looks like they're getting ready to play, so without further ado, Varulve, with their song Förförare!

Image
The lights over the stage dim, and a steady flow of fog spreads across it. The screen lights up, a solid image of a deep maroon color, that of the Motsvaran flag. Gradually, a silhouette becomes visible, followed by a second and a third. The red background changes, and the logo of the band in a bluish gray fades into view. The sound of a guitar can be heard, as the lights pick up and the song begins.

The band sings out the song, the lyrics in Newreyan rather than Motsvaran. The sounds of the electric guitar and the various other instruments echo around the stadium. As they play, the logo behind them changes colors, shifting from the blackish gray of the stripes on the Motsvaran flag, to a bright white and back to the smoky blue.

As the final notes finally ring out and the song ends, the audience applauds, many Motsvaran fans cheering for their entry this year. The musicians bow, then retreat off stage as their symbol fades off the screen.

Chris: Well, hopefully the fans back at home enjoyed that, because I sure did. Varulve is one of this year's first entries to be in a rock or metal style, set apart from the somber songs played earlier tonight. Vrnallia was the first, and we follow up-hopefully-quite strong.

Anton: Stay tuned later tonight, Varulve will be joining us for an exclusive interview where we talk about the symbolism in Förförare and the journey they've taken to Aeiavision. We'll return after a brief commercial with the next performance of the night.

Intermission

After Motsvara’s Varulve and musicians have left the stage, the evening’s hosts come into sight again.

Vaivran takes the first word, “Alright, if there is any 5-minute thing you’ve delayed, now is the time to do it. We will be here, and so far I must say there have been impressive performances from all the participants! What was your favorite song, Anton?”

A whispering, omnimous voice flies into the hall from loudspeakers, “You are not supposed to ask that…”

“Agreed, that makes me wonder why we didn’t try to win this shebang until last year,” says Anton, having seemingly ignored Vaivran’s second question, but still chuckling for nothing.

“Anton! Our musicians have tried to bring the contest here for years!”

“And we succeeded in the year they almost failed to even try.1

“They performed it in the end, and they’re the reason you now have your job.”

Anton smiles, “I bet you are even more pleased than I.2

“AAaaaand let’s welcome our next entry,” finishes Vaivran as she rushes off the stage. Anton follows.

Despite not seeing the two hosts, people in the audience still hear the clear voice of Anton, “Vrnallia’s song I’ll definitely show to my kids...perhaps not that Lentini ladyboy...”

1: Aleia’s winning entry in 2017 missed their initial draw. The band were trying to resolve personal issues in their hotel room, and barely avoided missing the competition altogether.
2: Vaivran was Aleia’s entry in 2013. She finished near-last place.

Live from Elenaborg on Dayganistan Radio-Television Corporation

"And we're back from the intermission. For those of you just tuning in, I'm Bahar Ahmadzai reporting live from Aeiavision 2018 in Elenaborg, Aleia, for Dayganistan Radio-Television Corporation. So far we've seen a variety of excellent acts representing a broad spectrum of musical genres. If you've missed any performances up to this point, they should be available on our website, and will continue to become available as each performance concludes. Don't forget to vote for your favorite song. But remember, you can't vote for our song."

"Now, for the moment I'm sure you've all been waiting for at home, we'll be seeing Dayganistan's debut Aeiavision performance. I hope all of you are as excited as I am as we present to the world, Zohal Panjshiri and her song, Mekhandam."

Image

The screen displays a waving Dayganistan flag. As the lights dim, the image on the screen changes to one of a mountain landscape somewhere in Dayganistan. As the the song begins, the singer steps on to the stage. She is wearing a long, colorful dress, designed to blend traditional Daygani styles with elements of modern fashion. Cheers can be heard from Daygani's in the audience, which then stop as she begins to sing.

As the song ends, the Daygani's in the audience applauds, with the cheers and applause of the Daygani fans being noticeable as some of them begin to chant in their native language. The singer bows and then makes her way off the stage, making way for the next performance.

Commentary on KHTV1
"Welcome back, one and all, to our broadcast of AeiaVision 2018! I am, as always, your humble host Adam Mayim, and by my side, the lovely Achilah Sh'hor! You've just heard the song Mekhandam, the Daygani entry ─ Achilah, your thoughts?"

"Not bad."

"You heard it here first folks! Up next, what you know we've all been waiting for, Hipasia's own entry. Achilah, do you think they can win it?"

"Maybe."

"You heard it here first folks! Now, over to our act. From Hipasia herself, rockers Erech Hefqeirah and singer Shlomith Leiwi, with their wonderful song Sappari!"
End of commentary

The stars and bars of the Hipasian flag appear on the screen, quickly replaced by just the three bars of the flag, in blue, green and yellow.

The Hipasian entry.
Image

Both singers, Leiwi and Peirah, are dressed in traditional Mashahi religious wear. He wears a long, loose-fitting kaftan while she wears a plain dress in the southern Hipasian style. The screen alternates between showing expanses of desert and abstract patterns as the song is performed.

ʕånəṯå, ʕånəṯå yōnå səʕaḏīyå lī bəp̄alṭērīn ʕəlīyå
waʔənī tōḵ lēḇ ʔənīyå bayyəp̄ī ʕōṭå məʕīlī

When the song ends, the Hipasian section of the crowd cheers uproariously, as with a nod the musicians leave the stage.

We now return to Aeiavision 2018, Live from Elenaborg in Aleia. Coming up at the next interval will be the 10 o'clock news update

Martí: "Welcome back to our coverage of Aeiavision 2018, with me Martí!"

Elodie: "And Elodie!" <3

Martí: "Now Elodie, this next act comes from somewhere familiar... Do you know where?"

Elodie: "Hmmm...I'm not quite sure? Is it somewhere nearby? Is it Aquidneck?"

Martí: "Not quite, but I heard it's a beautiful country..."

Elodie: "Of course I know where she's from Martí silly! It's Midrasia's own Sara Fitó with Fe Tona!"

The show cuts to the introductory reel of Sara and Fe exploring Elenaborg overlayed with narration

Martí: "Sara Fitó is a rising star within the Midrasian music scene, garnering much praise for her appearances in Midrasia's Got Talent where she finished 3rd, and her songs posted online. She has recently signed onto the record label Vinylique, with rumours of a new album in the works! She is joined here by Fe Tona, also rumoured to be working with Sara on a new album. Fe is a long time backing singer having worked with numerous artists over the years including Zara, Frédérique and Alex Crozier. The two were quick favourites in preselection, with their appearance in the competition greatly increasing their popularity back home. Here's hoping Sara and Fe can give us a performance to be proud of tonight!

Image

The lights dim, fading to black. Sara and Fe appear on stage wearing very modern dresses of black and silver, almost looking futuristic. As the song begins lasers of red and orange begin to appear on stage, flashing, changing colour and swirling around in time with the music. Cheers rang out as the song began, with the camera regularly panning to the Midrasian fans in the crowd, most of them quite clearly drunk, in spite of Aeiavision's ban on alcohol on site. As the song reached its crescendo confetti began to fall from the ceiling, sending the crowd wild.

Martí: "Wasn't that great? What did you think Elodie?"

Elodie: "I loved it! But then again...I love them all! I just can't pick a favourite!"

Martí: "Haha, good job that's the job of the judges and audience then! Now, remember. You cannot vote for Sara and Fe, only the other acts. Lines will open once all countries have performed!"

Welcome back to coverage of Aeiavision on the Tarchur Network!
Ryan: A warm hello to everyone back at home. Cuirpthe's entering group, Dólás, will be on stage in just a few minutes.

Aidan: One of the top ten highest rated groups back home, everyone is eagerly awaiting their performance. Now, unlike many entries this year, Dólás has entered an instrumental song, correct?

Ryan: That's right, no lyrics. While other musicians have sung their heart out, the Cuirptheans will be one of the rare few groups to just let the instruments speak for themselves.

Aidan: This style is one of the draws to Dólás for its large amount of fans back at home, and we will be presenting an interview later tonight with them on why they chose this style and what their music means to them. We'll have to wait for that though, looks like their getting ready to perform.
Image
The lights around the stage dim, audience chatter slowly dying down to listen. Silence continues for several seconds, lights slowly growing brighter on stage, a light green. The three members of Dólás stand in silence, and slowly, one by one begin to play.

The song begins quietly, three notes played in loop, the guitar clear in the quiet arena. The notes changed slightly, the sad tone retained throughout. Seconds later a second guitar rang out, a high note, followed by several more, the drum picking up in the background.

And all at once the band switched tones, an intense mixture of guitar and drum notes blasting off stage, filling the room. As the song continued for several minutes, the lights grew and shifted, spotlights that swept over the stage and across the audience. The intensity of the song was held up until the final note, and as it sounded, all lights on stage went out, enveloping the band in darkness.

Ryan: Well, seems the fans enjoyed that.

Cheering from nearby Cuirpthean fans threatens to drown out the broadcast, but they continue.

Aidan: Evidently, they did. A great number from Dólás, i know that if I had the chance tonight, they'd have my vote.

Ryan: Alright, after a brief commercial break, we'll be back with Dólás for a brief interview, and then coverage of Aeiavision 2018 will continue.

Commentary on ERT 2
"Aaaand now! The moment we've all been waiting for"

"I can see that Zelimir Hrebak is coming."

"Yeah, he is on the stage"

"Good luck Zelimir. We know that you'll be amazing as usual"

Nico: Well, that was an absolutely beautiful performance from our friends in Elhazia. I can see many Isolaprugnans voting for that in the next few hours.
Adele: It certainly was a good song.
Nico: Speaking of good songs, our entry's next.
Adele: True.
Nico: She's a very admirable figure, our performer. She's already achieved so much at her young age, with her debut EP soaring to number one this April. There was simply nobody else we could think of to represent our nation.
Adele: She's also overcome stage fright; when she was first rehearsing she could barely bring herself to sing the words.
Nico: Well, she's improved, and the wait is over! Here's Consolata representing Isolaprugna with her song City Lights!

A darkened stage sits before the viewers. A few spotlights turn on, focusing on a woman looking no more than 17 merely standing in a black dress in the centre.
The song begins.

Minutes before Aleia's draw.

Hirre Løs, the band leader, climbs up on a reserve loudspeaker, facing his three co-bandmembers.

Hirre Løs: Hear the voices outside! That is the feel of Aleiavision! Hear how it comes onto this room. Aleian voices, far bigger than those that were in Akerrau last year. Aleian voices, cheering for one band. Who is that band?

Band: Gave Hirrer!

Hirre Løs: For once it is us, yes! For we have been given this chance that so few other bands have! And in our country nonetheless. This is a people who understand us! For once, they understand us! Do you want for us to fail?

Band: Never!

Hirre Løs: I hear you! That will never happen! Here is what will happen: We will go to the stage, sing and play to this audience and to Aleia and to Aeia! We will shame the ladyboys and supermodels so far! We will penetrate every TV screen, every computer stream! Every corner of Aeia will listen, and When it’s all over, when it is all over they will say: Aleia 2019!

Band: Gave Hirrer!

Hirre Løs: And guess what! Winners get to go to SG-550 and f*** the girls from last year!

Band: One for each!

Hirre Løs: So let’s GO! Aleiavision 2019, Voz!?

Hirre Voz: Aleiavision 2019!

Hirre Løs: Aleiavision 2019, Everyone!?

Band: Aleiavision 2019!

Hirre Løs: Then GO! Gave Hirrer! Til Seier! Til Seiiieeeeer!

Performance approaching

IAB Broadcasting

Julia (whispering): Vaivran and Anton, bunch of morons…

Matty (whispering): We’re live.

Julia: That was Isolaprugna’s City Lights, performed by the unbelievably young artist Consolanta. Absolutely digged her voice! So far this has been an impressive night. We can truly see the feelings of the new generation of Aeians.

Matty: I feel proud of being part of my generation, but it’s a shame that we haven’t listened to any Aleian voices yet. I heard their entry has been rather controversial so far.

Julia: Controversial, that is true. This year, they skipped the entire qualification contest and had the Aeiavision crew pick their own artists.

Matty: Just listening to what you’re saying excites me. I just want to listen to them now, like now.

Julia: Oh, now you are hinting too much.

Matty: Then I might as well tell the truth, for here comes ALEIA! Gave Hirrer’s Doro Froken!

Julia: Doro Froken!
Image
The introductory reel is shown of the four members of Gave Hirrer playing at a local pub in Elenaborg. Although Matty and Julia have been introducing the artists for most of the competition, they are silent during this one. Instead, they allow the reel to finish and the screen to reveal the stage, where the band is standing in the dark.

All the bandmembers are wearing black, and as the light comes back on they keep their stare on the audience, which is still cheering. Only when the cheering has disappeared does the drummer bang his two sticks to signal the beginning. For the three minutes Gave Hirrer performs their song the cheer from the arena switches between loud and timid. It becomes apparent that the band isn’t singing in Aleian, but seemingly gibberish. Not long after the third minute the song is finished, and the band embraces the confused cheering as they slowly leave the stage.

Matty: I’m not sure what to say.

Julia: Music good, lyrics, well, artistic. I think we’ve got a fair chance at another Aleiavision. At least that’s what I say.

Mirkov: And here's Dreyvisevich's amazing Stakhov Zhilov going on stage here at Aeiavision 2018.
Iilya: He's looking handsome as ever, really a crowd-pleaser. Miss Cresavnya also looking fabulous today. I can't wait!
Mirkov: Well, looks like they're ready to begin over there, so let's go!

The performance begins.

Iilya: Beautiful song, really captures the loss and hopelessness of fighting chronic illnesses.
Mirkov: The fans are cheering, the flags are waving... This is one to watch!
Iilya (under her breath): Wait... is that the old Beslaeros flag?!
Mirkov (whispering): What? Where?
Iilya (whispering): Over there on the right. Someone is waving it in the crowd. Can we get someone to check on that?
Mirkov: Sorry about that, we'll be right back with more Aeiavision 2018, right after this break!

Advertisement Break

Mirkov: We're back, live from Elenaborg!
Iilya: Aeiavision 2018! Here we have Mr Zhilov, fresh from his stunning performance earlier.
Zhilov: Thank you, Madam.
Iilya: Mr Zhilov, what led you to come up with such a theme for the song?
Zhilov: My brother's wife, actually. She was diagnosed with breast cancer about... 3 years ago. She never let it distract her from living life to the fullest. When she passed on last year I knew I had to honour her and her stoic personality, as well as my brother, who never left her side.
Mirkov: I'm sorry to hear about that. Well wishes to you and your brother.
Zhilov: Thank you.
Iilya: I heard... There was some talk about it being hard for you to come here? Especially with the war going on. What's your take on that in general?
Zhilov: I have nothing against Veleaz, personally. But yes, there were some security concerns with the flight I was meant to take. Something about the route being over dangerous airspace. If there's one thing about the war is that it makes travel really inconvenient. I understand that the Veleazean government has always been very unreasonable and nobody likes to see other people suffer under such a...
Mirkov: A dictatorship?
Zhilov: I would not call it that, no. A militaristic regime, if you must.
Iilya: Very solid opinion there. Oh, it seems like the next contestants are going to start in a few minutes.
Mirkov: Well, thank you for your time, Mr Zhilov, and best of luck for the contest!
Zhilov: It's my pleasure. Here's to Dreyvisevich!
Iilya: Alright!

Nika- Hey everyone!
Haltzen- Can't say there's a need for introducing who's coming up next here at Aeiavision 2018.
Nika- He's really a fan favourite back home. Although it appears this time he's gonna be cranking it down for the wider audience here...
Haltzen- Well, it definitely has some dark theme behind it, whatever it's going to be.
Nika- That said, there's no denying it'll be fantastic.
Haltzen- We'll see if it can be even better than 'fantastic'! Coming up, Nathan Heinkel with 'Einleben'!
Let the song begin!
Nika- Wow... It's really not his usual style but it's definitely got something going for it.
Haltzen- I'm surprised too. Really moving. The beat is great too.
Nika- At any rate, count me impressed! Just hearing it made me want to go on an adventure!
Haltzen- I'm afraid you're going to have to sit here with us for now, Nika. And all of you back home as well, stay tuned and sit tight. We're going to be bringing you even more from:
Nika and Haltzen- AEIAVISION 2018!
Nika- Remember to vote for Tyronova! Every vote counts!

LIVE FROM ELENABORG

Laylat: The last song was truly amazing, wasn't it ?
Yûnas: It truly was.
Laylat: Speaking of amazing songs, Biladia is next.
Yûnas: Ladies and gentlemen, here is Alîyaz Samitîy with the song Dulum !

Image

The crowd cheers as the song begins. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ9FpMXJmwY

Laylat: Alîyaz Samitîy was awesome as always. We will be back after a brief intermission. Stay tuned !

*a few advertisements later*

Yûnas: Aaaaand we're back here in Elenaborg.
Laylat: And we're here behind the scenes with Alîyaz Samitîy who just performed amazingly for our country !
Alîyaz: Thank you, madam.
Laylat: This song concerns a problem that has never been talked about all that openly in Biladia. Were you afraid that the song might ruin your image ?
Alîyaz: I knew that the topic is not really dealt with openly in Biladia and I felt the need to do something about it. I really wasn't afraid until the day I published it. I feared the song might be a little too controversial.
Yûnas: And yet, it seems like most people really like it, both the song itself and the message behind it. How would you describe the reactions to your song ?
Alîyaz: Eventhough the topic of the song is very controversial, most of the reactions were positive. I felt like for a few moments, people must've forgotten what I've sung about.
Laylat: Do you think that something is going to change or that changes are already going on ?
Alîyaz: Not really. If we look back a few years, there were already a few songs dealing with rather controversial topics in Biladia and people loved the songs. However, not much has changed in our society. On the one hand, I think this might be the one time for something to actually happen, but on the other hand, I don't want to be overly optimistic about it.
Laylat: Any last words before the next song starts ?
Alîyaz: It was a pleasure to talk to the two of you.
Laylat: The pleasure was our.
Yûnus: This was Alîyaz Samitîy, live from Elenaborg !

We now return to Aeiavision 2018, live from Elenaborg in Aleia, on Frisko1 news
Matevž Back for another Aeiavision, but this time, for the first time, Ostrvija is competing!

Kristina Yes, and the competition has been intense already, that Beladian song was truly inspiring.

Matevž Now it's time for the very first Ostrovan entry into this competition. This song will be known to many of you, a national epic one might say

Image
(click the title for the link.)

Roki walks off stage to a large cheer from the Ostrovan fans, with some angry shouts from some other countries

Kristina Well that was sensational! I could feel the hairs on my back prickling!

Matevž I agree, but some may have been offended given the circumstances that surround that song.

Kristina True, true.

Matevž To all the fans, you cannot vote for us, but I hope you enjoyed the coverage!

LIVE TRANSCRIPT: Onza's Breaux takes stage at Aeiavision song contest

A live transcript of the coverage from OCNA primetime television hosts Eldar Ra'd and Aaliyah Masuma
By Eldar Ra'd and Aaliyah Masuma, Primetime Hosts

ELENABORG, ALEIA - [TRANSCRIPT BEGINS]

Masuma: I have to say, I wasn't quite expecting that powerful entry from Kagon -- I'm almost to tears!
Ra'd: I'll tell you Aaliyah, we've had some strong ones so far, but that one brought a different vibe to the stage that I -- I -- for one, was not expecting.
Masuma: I'm definitely -- yeah, yeah, absolutely. I'm definitely with you on that one.
Ra'd: Well if you aren't to tears yet, we're betting you will be by the end of the next performance. Coming on now, ladies and gentlemen, Khaliq Breaux -- the illustrious yet elusive Midrasian-Onzaian artist with his summer smash-hit, "Solo."

[BREAUX TAKES STAGE]

Masuma: I have to say, that's a flamboyant look he's sporting tonight!
Ra'd: It's a bit hard to tell from here, but those loafers look like Siena Del Naro to me.
Masuma: A bit surprising given that one thing they... Well, looks like he's about to start.

Image

[PERFORMANCE BEGINS]
.
.
.
.
.
[PERFORMANCE ENDS]

Masuma: (Singing) There's a bull and a matador dueling in the sky ... Man, doesn't it just slap you in the face?
Ra'd: Not unlike the recreational drugs being passed around in the audience (laughs).
Masuma: Umm, I think now's a good time to cut to commercials. Amazing performance, Khaliq Breaux!

"The televotes will wait until the end of the evening before they reveal themselves."

When the Rising Heroes' have left the stage, Anton and Vaivran return.

"Right, within the three minutes of your break, every jury in Aeiavision finalized their decision of points," says Anton pointing at Breda Foiano, "Can the executive supervisor confirm that everything is in order, and that every jury is ready to announce their points?"

Foiano stands up with a paper in hand, "This transcript I have just received informs that all 19 juries have finalized their points, and have followed all guidelines. Hosts, the points are ready."

She sits down again, and Vaivran takes the word, "This only tells Aeia one thing:
