“The Thuzbek delegate’s suggestion is very much to my liking, as the Wilmore family already possesses a house stuffed brimming with local and foreign curios, though I am concerned about the Domanian delegate’s capital proposal, with culturally themed buildings, might be ... complicated. Perhaps we ought discuss the specific minority cultures to be prominently displayed?”

"I believe that in terms of any resolution, it should be left vague as to what cultures specifically are on it. In my opinion, the resolution should define a minority culture as "any culture which is the minority in its homeland subject to the discretion of the ACESTI delegation."

"As for particular cultures, I believe the nomadic peoples of Turvin in my own nation would be viable candidates. There are but a few thousand traditional Yurtists left and their culture has had a large impact on Thuzbek culture."

With absolutely nothing happening in the room, you would have been able to hear a pin drop. Sofi, realising that nothing would happen for a while, began a game of Age of Empires 1 on her computer.

There was happening a intense discussion in the hall about places with cultural importance in the Wake Island Area, when, by pure coincidence or not, a man entered in the room accidentally interrupting everyone. Noticing his lack of politeness, he said while standing in the front of the door "I apologize for my unexpected entrance. I'm Leonilson Esmeraldo, representative of Dragão do Mar to the ACESTI organization. Would you mind if i take a seat?"

Sofi took out her phone and started browsing her Surat (The biggest social media app in Negarakita) feed. After looking at some quality political memes about the various wars and tragedies across the isles, she looked at the highlights from the Negarakitan team's recent draw with Altera. That Mohamed Saleh is so dreamy, she thought to herself, before turning on some Negarakitan pop music. She had forgotten to put in her headphones, however, and the music filled the deadly-silent room for a few seconds before she turned it off.

A short middle aged man with a greasy mullet and cheap crumpled suit saunters into the chamber. "Homem Sem Cultura." He introduces himself. "Totzkan delegate." Homen pulls himself onto a chair, produces a toothpick and begins poking at his stained teeth.

Sofi looked appalled by the apparent lack of hygiene or, dare she say it, class, shown by the Totzkan delegate. If this was the best they could offer, their nation would have to be a hole. She had to resist the urge to post about it on Surat, but that would likely start some kind of international incident and given her earlier run-in with the Acesti Building's mediocre toilets she couldn't act like the most high-class person in the room. She looked around the room to see if anyone was keen to leave the room and go get a meal from the acclaimed curry house down the road. That Kiara was nice, wonder if she and a few others would like to go get a nice rendang.

She posted the offer on Surat, hoping that there would at least be one delegate here who used it.

A tall pale-skinned man entered the room wearing a bright velvet suit and red tie. He kept a serious composure and exuded a sense of nobility, not sure if it was intentional or not. He headed over to the nearest empty seat as he began to introduce himself with a very heavy Roendavarian accent.

"I am Lord- Mr. Gheorge Acruviae Vlădrulei, second-born of the rulers of Vladivești City, and the official representative of the Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavar in ACESTI, in accordance with the mandate of our beloved dragoi, King Vladimir IV Drăculul Avărești. I am pleased to meet you all and good day." He quickly sat himself down as to not interfere furthermore.

Diplomats of Cosie
Cozatlali at ACESTI
Covering a diplomat's stint at The Association of Culture, Education and Science of the Isles

by Jose Valverde

========

REGAL, ELEGANT, PROFESSIONAL: these are not the words used to describe the plump, elderly woman hobbling her way to her seat at ACESTI headquarters. If she were to wear her vibrant blue dress, her purple headdress, and colourful bead necklace to any other international meeting, they'd mercilessly throw her out for violating the dress code. In The Association of Culture, Education and Science of the Isles (ACESTI), however, Cozatlali was among like-minded peers.

She was born María Teresa Rosario Gomez in 30 October 1957; just 5 years later, when her parents joined in the Quoci Renaissance that swept Cosie's indigenous community, they decided to rechristen her as Cozatlali (EN: 'rainbow-weaver'). Cozatlali embraced her new identity and all that it represented: she lived up to her name by becoming a clothier locally-renowned for her colourful dresses.

Cozatlali actually ended up becoming far better known for training quoci merchants to market their wares to urban Cosians and tourists alike. The clothier's knowledge on adapting indigenous products to suit the tastes of Cosie's various other cultures had turned her into a bedrock of quoci business. Her far-reaching expertise on Cosian culture had also made her the perfect candidate to represent Cosie at ACESTI.

"Cualli acatl," said Cozatlali after making her way to her seat. "It is how I, a quoci tribeswoman, say 'Good day' in my native tongue, Quocitl. If I were a Spanish-speaking rioll lady, I would bid you 'Buenos dias'. If I were a windie who spoke the creole Cosaye, I would greet you with 'Bien dey'."

Cozatlali flashed a smile, her crooked teeth on display. "Such is the variety of greetings we may hear in a society as diverse as the Island Republic of Cosie."

The clothier-turned-diplomat took a moment to recompose herself.

"My name is Cozatlali, the rainbow-weaver," she announced. "I am honoured to call myself the official representative for Cosie in the Association of Culture, Education and Science of the Isles."

"Understand that just as you will learn much of Cosian culture from me..." Cozatlali continued. "... I intend to learn much about the Isles' other cultures from you all. It is always a blessed day to be able to share our knowledge with one another, and I believe that our cooperation will have us all come out of this building enriched by each other's expertise."

Cozatlali motioned me over to deliver her handbasket, its contents deliberately kept hidden.

"It is customary in quoci culture for a visitor to bring gifts for her fellows," said Cozatlali with a grin. "But it is up to the receiver to decide whether she will accept or reject the offered gift. Would any of you like to receive the gifts I have prepared in this basket? Or would you prefer not to know what I have kept in store?"

"Thank you."

He nodded to the Ahnslen delegate and smiled. Gheorge knew he needed to find friends in this organization, and he must start with the already close countries with Roendavar. He scanned the room as he figured who to approach.

"The Cosie delegate? No. We don't have relations with them. New Totzka's delegate? He looks too... messy for me. Proper nobles don't interact with them." he thought, contemplating.

Gheorge spotted the Negarakitan delegate. Ah. A friend of the country and some... nobles. He fixed his curly hair as he approached the delegate. He managed a warm smile despite his usual serious composure.

"Hello. Negarakitan, yes? I'm Gheorge Acruviae Vlădrulei. Pleased to meet you. Do you want to go get something to eat or...?"

"yes", Sofi smiled. The tall delegate seemed like a nice man, and besides, his hair was so curly that he reminded her of a shrub. Not enough curly people in Negarakita.

"I know a really good Sanggaric place around the corner, they have great rendang and roti. Also a good bubble tea if you like that."

She turned and looked at the rest of the room, seeing a wide array of bored looking diplomats.

"We could also get something for the others."

Costories (cont.)
Cozatlali at ACESTI
by Jose Valverde

========

Cozatlali walked at a measured pace over to the conversation being held nearby.

We've been briefed before about Sofi, the representative from Negarakita: under the modest Muslim garb was an exuberant woman eager to share her people's customs with the world. There wasn't as much said about Roendavar's representative, other than that he was a noble with a name I still struggle to pronounce to this day.

Negarakita wrote:"I know a really good Sanggaric place around the corner, they have great rendang and roti. Also a good bubble tea if you like that."

"If you'd permit me, madam," Cozatlali began. "I would also like to join you and your colleague here for the luncheon you're planning. I've never had Sanggaric cuisine in all my years, but better to have tried it late than to never have tried it at all, yes?"

Cozatlali then waved the handbasket she still had with her. "My earlier offer still stands, by the way. Just say the word and I'll hand you the present I've had prepared... or not, if you so wish."

"Of course, the more the merrier!"

She was happy that there would be enough people going. She was also shocked that the delegate had never tried Sanggaric, as it was one of the more widespread isles cuisines. I guess Cosie really has been cut off from the world all this time, she thought to herself.

"It is a pleasure to meet a citizen of Cosie. Once again, my name is Gheorge Acruviae Vlădrulei. Please disregard my noble status. I am no ruler and I am in no position to replace my father. I am intrigued by your country. I hear it has the best beaches in the world. Way better than the gloomy pine forests of my homeland."

Gheorge glanced at the basket held by the well-spoken lady. He was interested as he never seen something from the country, let alone visit it.

"Perhaps you could show us what you have? We are definitely curious."

He turned his attention to the Negarakitan delegate.

"Shall we proceed?"

Justin makes a loud cough to catch the attention of the other delegates from their small bantering.

“I’m sure we can talk about foodstuffs another time and since we have nothing else to discuss as of the moment, may I suggest deciding on this year’s Isles Fair and who will host the event?”

Justin then glances at the talking trio as if trying to tell them to stop talking before wiping his hands off of sweat.

Sofi sighed heavily, the disappointment clear on her face. The room could be silent for hours, then when she finally decided to go get a quick bite to eat suddenly something was about to happen.

"We'd better sit down, I think," she whispered to the others, "don't want to be in trouble."

She glanced down at her luxury watch. It was nearly time to go pray, she would have to watch that.on the way back she drafted up a basic proposition to give to Ms Wollock.

"Of course. Părdon."

Gheorge nodded in disappointment to the Negarakitan delegate as he hurried to his seat. He sat down, sighing at the idea of a serious decision. He didn't expect that such a proposal would be put forth this early in his time as delegate and he knew, he must secure Roendavar a spot in ACESTI's events. Of course, as part of the ruling family of the "Roendavarian City of Culture", perhaps he could do his home city a favour.

"In response to the Isles Fair, Roendavar will gladly support in any way we can. My country cannot host it in its full form but if it were to be done in the vicinity, especially in Gael, we might help in costs and other supplies. Of course, if a joint bid with Roendavar is proposed, we would... accept."

Let's hope that wasn't too obvious. He thought, tapping his fingers nervously on his desk.

"Name, sir," says the guard.

"Julian Degas, Chairman of the Masurbian International Affairs Committee,"

"Of course, welcome Chairman Degas."

Julian strolls around the room where other ambassadors and diplomats talked in hush voices. "Ah, this will be wonderful," he said to himself.

"We will like to welcome the new dekegates to this chamber and..." Samuel stuttered.

"Once again, we are requesting if the Athara Magarati government and universities can utilize ACESTI as a venue to promote the IslesNet Project." Charles Burja pleaded. "Madam Secretary General Wollock? Fellow delegates? Your opinions on this subject matter?"
