Hello everyone.

I'm Baumes, a member of ACESTI. As a nation with many places deemed culturally, historically or geographically significant, it only makes sense that Baumes joins such an organisation. But all that asides, I am here to express my desire to host the headquarters for ACESTI in North and Central Argus. As a nation which focuses on preserving its heritage, I hope that Baumes could set example for cultural preservation in the isles and serve as a reminder how important it is to remember your roots. I have informed Townside and be has instructed me to post it here. If it does happen, a vote will occur but until then, have a good day.

Hi Alandam. Unfortunately, I will not be adding you to the list of ACESTI member states as you are not on the TWI map.

Hi Baumes. I acknowledge your desire to host the North and Central Argus HQ of ACESTI. I have added this to my notes in a previous post and will conduct a vote in due course on the IC thread, after some other admin things are dealt with!

You may need to contact Ainslie again about your place on the map, as I think you may be removed due to inactivity during the next update.

Hi all. I intend to revive this organisation properly. The first order of business would be to elect a new ACESTI Secretary-General.

I intend to start the election process tomorrow morning (around 10 AM Australian Eastern Standard Time). It will take place on the IC thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=436338

You can get an idea of how the election will run by looking at how Torom and Dormill and Stiura ran the last election in 2018. The election will formally begin when Townisde's representative, the Permanent Registrar General, invites nominations. In the meantime, read the above dispatch and consider if you would like to nominate your representative tomorrow.

The process will be as follows:
    1. Registrar-General invites nominations for the Secretary-General election (on Sunday, 30 April 2023, 11 AM Australian Eastern Standard Time). Nations who are on the member list before this can nominate themselves.
    2. Registrar-General asks for a roll call when the later of the following occurs:
      a. there are two nominations; OR
      b. it is Friday, 5 May 2023, 5PM (Australian Eastern Standard Time)
    3. Quorum is reached when at least half the members on the list respond to the roll call. Voting can begin. Only nations who are on the member list before the roll call can vote.
    4. The vote concludes when all members have cast their vote. If not all members have cast their vote even after reminders are sent, the vote will conclude if one candidate gets the vote of at least half of all members.

For now, I'd invite nations not already listed as a member to express their interest in joining, and I can add you to the member list. The bar to joining is purposely set low - ACESTI is meant to be a non-political organisation focused on education, culture, and science. All nations welcome unlesss your nation is explicitly anti-education, culture, and science.

As noted above, only members who are on the list before the Registrar-General invites nominations tomorrow can nominate themselves. I will still add new members who can vote in the election up until the Registrar-General asks for a roll call, at which point new members will not be added until the election is concluded.

You can join by one of three ways:
1. mention Townisde on the RMB
2. wire a direct telegram to Townisde.
3. post on the ACESTI OOC thread below (I will check before inviting nominations tomorrow).

ACESTI Secretary-General election nominations are OPEN

Postby Townside » Sat Apr 29, 2023 6:02 pm

Hi all. The first phase of the ACESTI Secretary-General election is underway: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=436338&p=40555113#p40555113

From now until Friday evening, or until we get two nominations, whichever occurs later, map nations listed on the member list in the ACESTI dispatch are welcome to nominate their ACESTI representative to stand for election as ACESTI Secretary-General. Have a read of the ACESTI dispatch if you would like to nominate your representative to lead this organisation. Nominations are done ICly on the IC thread.

If you are an ACESTI member but do not wish to nominate your representative, you are still most welcome to post something on the IC thread, for example, some sort of reaction by your representative. It would help in our broader efforts to properly revive this organisation.

Map nations not currently on the member list cannot nominate themselves to stand for election. But you can still apply to be put on the member list, and you can answer the roll call and vote when the time comes.

Tricklandia is a Southern Sea nation with notable Ipachi heritage and cultural sites (even though our Ipachi tribes were something slightly separate, called the A'ana); obviously, joining ACESTI is something we are 100% interested in.

(Also, our education budget is 9.7% of our GDP.)

NS STATS ARE NOT (completely) CANON! They only point in the general direction of the nation. Check factbooks for reliable information.
