Mathias Bexley-Durand will be singing "The Pink Mist"

Postby Britonisea » Sun Dec 17, 2017 3:42 pm

BITC;

Mathias Bexley-Durand will in fact be singing, "The Pink Mist" and the WorldVision Version of his song is available for download! It has also been announced that Mathias will be performing 17th - the first time Britonisea has performed in that position - straight after the hosts, Togonistan.

I wonder if anyone remembers me, the guy who once finished 21st in WV44.

Can I do some commentary, and can I vote? Or is that not allowed?

EDIT- Yes I remember, I can only do commentary. Thats fine with me.

I'm a Libertarian Socialist. That's good.

Current month: December 1994

News of Mitoland this week:
- The government scraps tuition fees for public universities.
- Planned Christmas Day terror attacks on the Marktplatz in Rheine are discovered and foiled. Eight arrests have been made in connection.

Apart from capital punishment, this nation represents 95% of my views. Some NSStats are slightly wrong.

Sorry, but you need to participate in order to be eligible to vote. However, you can do some commentary if you wish.

Unfortunately, signing up to WorldVision 61 is closed. We are truly grateful that you'd like to debut, but you will have to wait until WV62. :p

I'd also like to ask our newly-"elected" committee to change the title of the thread, please! :)

News from BITC and BVC

Postby Britonisea » Thu Dec 21, 2017 8:40 am

Image

Although the WorldVision Song Contest is now broadcast by BITC, Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2018 will still be shown on Britonisea's flagship channel, BVC, with the winner going to the WorldVision Song Contest, and the runner up going to the World Hit Festival. An agreement has been made by BITC and BVC which will see BITC executives and producers also working on the Vha Mehlodhivestoile broadcast. However, this is not the only thing that was announced today. Below, you will be able to find other things about the 3rd edition of the competition.

Image

5 different cities will be hosting Vha Mehlodhivestoile; all of which has never hosted a previous Vha Mehlodhivestoile contest, WorldVision Song Contest or World Hit Festival. Hosting the Semi Finals are Ghiez, Alshkan and Tonesk. Zelmerlow will host the Battle Stage, while Luton (of Luton and Sports City) will host the Grand Final of the competition.
Image

The 2018 edition will follow roughly the same schedule as the 2016 edition. Whereas in 2017 the competition started in February, Vha Mehlodhivestoile will begin on 3rd March 2018 (2016 - 5th March) and will end on the 8th April 2018 (2016 - 10th April). This means, 2018's edition will be shorter than 2017 by a few days. The contest is targeting the 64th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest.
SF1 - 3rd March, SF2 - 11th March, SF3 - 18th March, Battle Stage - 27th March, Final - 30th March, Results - 8th April.
Image

Like in 2016 and 2017, there will be three semi finals (or "heats" as it was called in 2016). In each of the Semi Finals there will be 8 acts, which adds up to 24 acts in total + 1 act being Dean Boyst who gained a wildcard to the final from last edition. However, similarly to 2016, only two acts will go straight to the final, with places 3rd and 4th going to the Battle Stage. Places 5th and 8th will go home. During the Battle Stage, who faces who will be randomly drawn to ensure impartiality from BVC and BITC. There will be 3 battles of two acts (as 2 acts from each semi final goes to this Battle Stage) and the winning act will join the other 6 in the final to make 9. Dean Boyst will also join the final 9 to make ten in the final of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2018 - a decrease of one since the 2017 edition.
Image

In the Semi Finals, international voters can give points 10-8 and 6 to 1. In the Finals, international voters can give points the traditional WorldVision points 12-10 and 8 to 1.
Image

Unlike 2016 and 2017, the ratio between Males:Females:Groups will not be the same (8 each), and therefore the quality will be the only deciding factor of whether an entry goes through to Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2018. Already, 10 acts have been confirmed for the competition, with the youngest being 16 by the First Semi Final of the competition.
Image

The 2018 edition will be calculated differently to the 2017, which BITC executives thought was "too confusing and unnecessary". Instead, the competition will be similar to that of the 2016 - but also taking inspiration from 2017. In the Semi Finals, Britonisea will have a 50% say in who goes through to the finals and battle stages (25:25 Jury to televote) and the International Juries will have the other 50% say. During the Battle Stages, only the Britonish Public will decide who goes through to the competition's final. Whereas in the Final, the Britonish Public will make up for 50% of the total vote, with the international vote making up the other 50%.
Image

The contest, unlike the 2017 edition, will only be open to Britonish residents (also allowed to Aloquirbs) or people who are able to have a Britonish passport.

The 24 acts + Dean Boyst will be revealed during the last week of February by Semi Final.

OOCly, the competition will run on the exact timetable as the 2016 edition. Nations are able to vote by submitting their votes via the thread, instead of telegram which was introduced in the 2017 edition. The finals of the competition will see nations being able to make two votes, one via the thread and a telegram.

Sorry for the double post!

Okay, so it's looking like I won't have time for posting an entry so I'm going to pull out, but I should still be able to get my commentary typed up.

VOTING IS NOW OPEN.

Togonistan has opted for the Committee deadline of 20:00 UTC on 1 January as the voting cutoff, so please vote before then or else you won't be able to participate in the next contest.

If you're new, points given are as follows: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,12; with 12 points given to your nation's favorite and 1 point to your nation's 10th favorite. If you're not sure, watch how other people post their votes (in terms of format, not the actual nations they vote for :P ).

Happy voting!

-Tobu

EDIT: Natanya, Silvacometopia and Libereco kaj Paco are DSQ from the next contest for not completing their reservations.

I just realised something regarding my old nation, Nightom.

Nightom participated only twice, in WorldVision 45 and 55 only.

In WorldVision 55, the tune Nightom sent was "Heart Shaped Hole" by Simone which came 1st. And in WorldVision 45, the tune Bloodbath Generation sent was "Heart Shaped Hole" hmmmm :eyebrow:

This goes to show that you can re-use songs!

Nightom should participate in WV65.
Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.
Best WorldVision Finish: 2nd. Best World Cup Finish: Quarter-Finals. Best KPB Rank: 8th. Best WBC Finish: 1st.

Well... I really don't know what else to say in reaction to this, tbh. It's weird. I know too well what it's like to put yourself out there and be met with nothing but bemoaned reactions and embarrassments. When it ends up with a WV win and with fortune... It's a 'pinch me' moment. After 23 editions, I got my second win now, and with a tune I didn't expect at all to win all things considering. It's surreal, that much I can say right now as I take stock of this.

I want to take the moment and say thank you to each and every voter. I don't care what amount you gave it or how it stacked; if you gave my entry any points, it showed to me that it affected you somehow. Whether it was a general like or whatever kind of reactions were there on the spectrum, I can't be anymore glad that I was able to get this much support from this many nations. It's astounding and moving.

And where I stand now in life, staring at uncertainty in the face and realizing a few things. There's no better way to cap 2017 with a win and an entry like this. I've outlined in a previous post in a thread just how difficult parts of this year were. It truly was a personally trying year in all aspects, forcing me to grow and change in ways that I don't agree with; but eventually, I must accept. But at the same time, maybe I can end the year on a note of hope; and find a better 2018 with more optimism. I won't doubt at all it'll be a year fraught with hardships and struggle; but maybe we can afford a genuine or smile or two there. And I wish the best for all of you too.

To Todlichebujoku... Thank you for writing entries like "Shadow" and "Set Us Free," whose roots of inspiration were clearly shown on the entry and without them, "A Way Out" would not have been the entry that it is. Thank you for giving me the vocabulary and the path to begin planning this entry out. Without those two entries, I would've been more lost in the creative process. I owe a lot to you.

To the person who inspired this entry (doesn't participate in WV but I do hope they see this)... Thank you for showing me hope when I felt there was none, and thank you for being my rock when I know you bear a lot on your shoulders as it is. This entry was and will always be for you. Without your support and friendship, who knows if I would've even had the strength to even think up of this. My gratitude is unspeakable.

And to everyone else... thank you for your support.

See you at the next WV
