World Hit Festival 36 - Gralicna, Izmedu | OOC

WELCOME TO THE 36TH WORLD HIT FESTIVAL

DRAFT THREAD - IC THREAD

Izmedu clinches their third title with Anja Krajacic's "Anger," winning by a close one point margin in Britonisea. Thus, RTI accepts the honor of hosting the 36th festival, marking it as the 5th hosting under Izmedu. This time, the contest is to be hosted in the small city of Gralicna.

What is the World Hit Festival?
The World Hit Fesitval (WHF) is a multiversal song competition. Each nation shall enter 1 song and 1 artist, and it shall be 'performed' via roleplay. Most nations tend to use a real life tune as a musical backing, but every entry submitted to the World Hit Festival is required to have original lyrics (ie. if you submit a tune, you must re-write the lyrics), so this does mean that instrumental entries are blocked from entering the contest.

WHF operates with three threads, the OOC, Draft, and IC threads. The one you are seeing now is the OOC/Sign-ups thread, the main place for you to discuss the contest, reveal your entrant, etc. All OOC chatter goes here. The Draft Thread, opened by the host, is the second thread opened up during a WHF contest, and this draft thread is where nations will post and work on their entries until a deadline determined by the host. The IC thread, also opened by the host is the third and final thread attached to a WHF, and it is where the host will transfer your entries.

The World Hit Festival has had a very long history in NationStates, and a thread by the second overseer (Euskirribakondara) has been created to compile this long history. Click here for a thread with links to every OOC and IC thread of all World Hit Festivals so far. Click this for a statistical database of all WHF participants. (the latter link is outdated). For winners, click here to see a full list of all WHF winners with links to their entries.

For those wanting a look at the immediate past, here are a collection of links to the most recent WHF: OOC Thread - Draft Thread - IC Thread

We also have a Discord server!

Details on the host city and the show

Schedule
Draft Thread Opens: November 4, 9:00PM PDT
Sign-ups Close: November 11, 9:00PM PDT
Draft Thread Closes, IC Thread and Voting Opens: November 24, 9:00PM PDT
Voting Closes: December 1, 9:00PM PDT
Winner Revealed: December 7-8

Rules and Procedures
 1. A nation is allowed to submit 2 puppets maximum to the contest, meaning that a user can be controlling at most 3 nations in the contest.
 2. The voting procedure is as follows: 5 points to your favorite, 4, 3, 2, and 1 to your 5th favorite. All votes are sent to the host through telegram.
 3. Users are allowed to receive 8 points maximum from their puppets. Meaning, a nation with three users can use Nation B and C (with B and C giving 4 points each) to give Nation A 8 points total, but nothing more.
 4. A nation is also required to vote, but there is no penalty for not voting. The host will make up your votes in the event that they do not have your votes.
 5. All or at least most of the written lyrics must be original. Should any user spot any concerns, don't hesitate to let the overseer or current host know.
 6. If more than 30 nations successfully post complete entries on the draft thread, semi-finals will be held.

Signing Up
You've read the rules and what it's about, and you wanna join? Awesome! To confirm that you are indeed participating, fill out the sign-up form below. It is not necessary to immediately complete the sign-up form in full immediately, as a post saying you'll participate is also fine. However, please do fill out the form to completion during the contest.
Code: Select all
[box]Nation:
Broadcaster:

Song Title:
Artist:
Language(s):
Title Transcription (if required):

For WHF veterans, this sign-up form will look very familiar as it is the same sign-up form for the past 15 editions. However, for debutantes, I have provided a sample application using WHF32's winning entry in a spoiler, with explanations in brackets.

Nation: Euskirribakondara (name of your nation goes here)
Broadcaster: EUSK1 (name of your broadcaster goes here, and this is usually your national broadcaster that would broadcast the WHF. For a real life comparison, think of the BBC in the UK.)

Song Title: "По, Дај Ми Любавте" (name of your song)
Artist: Nadija Djokanović (the name of the artist that will 'perform' the song in your roleplay.)
Language(s): Sirbadian, Euskal, Hinga (the language(s) that your lyrics will be performed in)
Title Transcription (if required): "Po, Daj Mi Ljubavte" (if your song's language utilizes another script such as Cyrillic, you would put the romanization of that title here. In this example, По, Дај Ми Любавте is Po, Daj Mi Ljubavte. Otherwise, this part can be omitted.)
Title Translation (if required): Come On, Give Me Your Love (the translation of your song's title to English. If your song is in English already, this part can also be omitted.)
Tune: Here (most WHF tunes will have tunes attached to them, such as this entry using Poli Genova's If Love Was a Crime. If you are using a tune, do provide a link of the tune in this form. However, there are cases in which users do not submit a tune and use self-penned songs, in which case, filling out this part is not required.)

Darkmania send an old man to Izmedu.

Image

Local darkmanian wievers was shocked by the fact that Darkmania was placed second last with only 7 points, ending the roll since Harres`32. Disappointed and getting Vietnam Flashbacks back when Darkmania was at the bottom all the time, they have demanded DaTV to make the Darkmanian festival-record great again. DaTV has accepted the role and has already found the perfect candidate in an attempt to bring the song festival to Darkmania.

Sir Ändrë Kërmetler Ledrësmïrlössërmävïjaereëÿratlaer Lësmerinerläcker Ër (born 12. January 1942) is one of the oldest artists in Darkmania. Recently given a “Sir-“ title (or a title similar to Sir, but will go as a “Sir-“) for his long charier lasting from 1959- to today. He is also remembered for being a regular contestant at the Old “Sahn füür Darkmänsije”, even winning in 1972 and 1975. DaTV aren't sure if he is the oldest WHF- artist, but he is at least the oldest in this edition and the oldest for Darkmania.

BVC Announcement

Postby Britonisea » Mon Oct 23, 2017 10:32 am

Image

Number One: Dean Boyst will represent Britonisea at the 36th World Hit Festival in Gralicna, Izmedu

Britonisea will be returning to the World Hit Festival, after coming in the top 5 twice in a row, and after hosting the contest where Adonis and Rigas scored 20 points to snatch 5th place. Today, Britonisea's broadcaster BVC has confirmed to the world that they will be participating in the World Hit Festival, and they have already chosen their World Hit representative.

This person should not be a stranger to the World Hit community, and most certainly to Britons who voted for him in the previous Vha Mehlodhivestoile. Dean Boyst will be representing Britonisea with the song he sent to the National Final, "I'm Hurting Too." Despite not winning the National Final, he came 3rd place - and we must highlight that he was the winner of the International Votes. Finally, the broadcaster has allowed Dean Boyst to represent his country.

This edition is a very special one for the country, as this marks 10 editions since their last win, in Kalosia. BVC said that they are seeking to 'wait no longer' for top 3 placing, or even potentially a win.

Nation: Britonisea
Broadcaster: BVC

Song Title: I'm Hurting Too
Artist: Dean Boyst
Language(s): English
Tune: Austin and Kurt Schneilder (Cover) - Human

BVC Concept: BVC will be launching 'Vha Mehlodivestoile Euvenoures', a national final for the JWHF

In light of the successful hosting of the 35th World Hit Festival, and the great success of Vha Mehlodhivestoile, the national final which decides the WorldVision and World Hit Festival representative for Britonisea, BVC has announced that on BVC 2, they will be holding a smaller version of the national final for children. The Junior World Hit Festival is set to roll around again, and Britonisea's successes at that contest are not as good as their success in the adult version of the popular festival and this programme will decide who will go to JWHF. The contest is set to be much smaller than it's parent, with all shows taking place in only one city - which will sacrifice it's bid to host a leg of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2018. Whereas Vha Mehlodhivestoile has five legs (3 Semi Finals, 1 Battle Stage, Finals), the child version is to have only three legs (Semi Final 1, 2 and the Final), with each Semi Final only having 5 songs each. Three will qualify to the Finals, and the six songs will be voted for in a mixture between the Britonish Televote (50%), and International Jury votes (50%) for the final score.

The national final is due to commence in the middle of November.

This announcement is also the official confirmation that Britonisea, despite claims of it withdrawing from the Junior World Hit Festival, will very much participate in the contest.

All applications above have been ACCEPTED and added to the OP! Welcome aboard to WHF36 :)

Alright, with that out of a way, here's a few update notes in regards to the hosting and to WHF in general (particularly JWHF)

1. The hosting details will be revealed in the weekend, hopefully by Sunday at the very, very latest. There's still a couple of kinks I am working out in terms of what specifically is being planned for the postcards and the show concept, but I won't tease out much more than that haha. But I am looking into the possibilities of bringing back some stuff from past WHFs and mixing them together. I've also thought around tinkering with the vote reveal system, but all to be determined in due time.

2. Ok now that I've got my life somewhat together, I now have more details on what JWHF4 will be looking like. I've teased it long enough during WHF34 and WHF35 but it's now time to put it in motion. The JWHF4 OOC thread is now planned to go live on November 12, 2:00PM PDT. This is planned to coincide with a bit after the closing of the WHF36 sign-ups but will be around the time when WV60 should be wrapping up its entries. A fuller schedule will be released when I release the OOC. However, for those looking into bidding, we now got dates. The same rules and regulations from old JWHFs will still apply.

And... that's about it for now :) Hope to see more sign-ups!

Estreľa to represent Kalosia at the 36th World Hit Festival!

Image

The Kalosian national final for WHF36 has just ended. And in the end, Estreľa has emerged victorious as the winner of the 30th Festival dele Melodie Kalosiane. Estreľa, whose real name is Laura Katalon, now has the honour of competing in the World Hit Festival with her song Ragažë (Girl).

The results of the contest were determined by a combination of televoting and a jury vote. While the votes were being calculated, Kalosia's entry to the 60th WorldVision Song Contest was unveiled. Afterwards the votes were announced, and towards the end it became apparent that Estreľa was going to win. And at the end, she took the trophy with a somewhat comfortable margin.

Estreľa now has the next few weeks to prepare for the contest, and it is hoped that she could match the spectacle that Alia M had presented in Britonisea during the 35th festival.

Kenzie will represent Estogium in Gralicna!

Kenzie Eléen WILL REPRESENT ESTOGIUM AT WHF36
Image
Red-Handed: Kenzie will be making sure that she is exceeding expectations for the 36th World Hit Festival in Gralicna, Izmedu.

Kenzie Eléen is a relatively new artist in Estogium and has the honour of representing her country to try and better the results Estogium have been getting recently. Estogium managed to get in to the top ten last edition, but that was in a field of only 13 nations - and in addition, the nation hasn't seen it's last top 5 result since WHF28 in Arioslavia, where Palladium stormed up the scoreboard in a fashion not previously done by the nation. Kenzie has stated that her and RVC have been working hard with a winners mentality to not continue their line of setbacks.

This news comes after Estogium withdrawing from the WorldVision Song Contest due to poor results, and rumours RVC would pull out of the World Hit Festival after neighbours, Britonisea hosted last edition.

I have brought this nation back to life, therefore NTV back to life. And said NTV have decided to give WHF a second shot, so they have internally selected established and contest-experienced band Savnic to perform a new low-key rock song called "グルグルと" ("Guruguru to"),or "Round and Round" as non-japanese speaking fans have referred to it as. Despite the title's language, the songs will be majority in English.

Welcome to the WHF Azadeshia! Ok so I have taken a look at the tune and while I will provisionally ACCEPT your app, it does kinda violate the only stipulation for tunes. Instrumental tunes have been accepted in the past (but with a vocal tune in conjunction) or if it's an instrumental version of a tune that has lyrics, or if it can be vocalized (I understand that the latter metric is very subjective so it is a case-by-case basis). Much as I love the kind of music you've posted, a purely instrumental tune (one that does not have any sort of lyrics/if you didn't create it yourself) won't work in WHF. Pretty much, if the tune has a vocal, I'll accept it.

If you have any questions though please don't hesitate to TG me or ask them here! :)

Ok, so a massive apologies is in order for pretty much dropping the ball on the show details. I was hoping to have them up sooner than now, but uni is a genuine killer of energy at this rate. However, they are gonna come tomorrow whether or not it costs my sanity.

Also, JWHF4 is still on course for November 12.

Here's two tidbits
 • It's gonna be an outdoor WHF.
 • Gonna return back to how Euski did the voting reveal but with an Izmeduan twist.

I can now confirm the Izmeduan entry details down below.

Ok so it might just be me mis-interpreting stuff but you're free to go ahead with the tune on your original post. Apologies! The only real stipulation (and the official rule) I have at this rate is that your IC entry must have lyrics, and since you have a language here, you're good to go. Your full app is ACCEPTED. Welcome aboard! :)

gonna have to casually edit the ooc to make note of that my goodness school has truly did a number on me

Draft thread is incoming 35 mins. Even so, I still encourage everyone to sign-up for the WHF!

The show details (sans graphic samples) are gonna come up a few hours after.

To prevent a double post, the announcement will go here.

World, I am proud to announce that draft thread posting for the 36th World Hit Festival is now OPEN!!!

Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.
