Additional notice: If another country invades or takes territory, you can either roleplay working out a deal with them, or fighting back. Country size, influence, and civilization(can be increased through RP posts) contribute to a more powerful nation.

Location: the Sea, some 15 leagues northeast of Port Vaudois

Lord Bern turned the steering oar to starboard as the coxswain called out instructions. 70 men rowed the large longship as it sliced through the cold sea, steadily pulling at their oars to propel the vessel forward.

Their prey had disappeared into the fog several minutes earlier. They had been trailing an unidentified war vessel for the last hour, attempting to draw close enough to hail the ship and ascertain its origin and intent, but the weather was interfering. One thing was certain; the red cresent flag the vessel flew was not familiar.

Several of these ships had been sighted in the previous two weeks, all flying the same flag, but no contact had been made yet. The ships appeared to be headed to the south, possibly headed beyond Waldensia's borders but nothing was certain.

Bern squinted his eyes as the fog began to lift. "Stop oars!" he cried, as the view unfolded in front of them. There, probably less than four miles away, lay a massive fleet of galleys and other vessels under sail, all flying the same flag. The ship they had been chasing was about halfway between them and the fleet.

"Lord Bern, what are your orders?" asked the cox. "Hold here," Bern replied. "We hold this course and parallel them until nightfall."

Gagium southern border, 15km from the coast

A column of thousands of soldiers of Legions I, II, III, and IV strode down the stone causeway connecting Roston and Windaal, and then continued into Viridus. The head of the column, with King Frederick leading on a horse, was going into a small Gagium village right before the Viridus border. The villagers and people of other villages had stockpiled a decent amount of food for the legions before they plunged into Viridus. Forward scouts reported a Viridus village near the border is being occupied heavily by Viridus forces, at least ten thousand.

The troops ate what they can from the village stockpile, then rested for the night. At sunrise, the knights, soldiers, and archers were awaken and the march to Viridus continued. At around noon, the column came across a tiny village of around 50 people that signified the end of Gagium and the start of Viridus.

"Alright, tell the legions to get into formation." King Frederick ordered. At once, the soldiers began passing down the order down the column. Within another hour, the legions were in four square formations. The 28,000 men then marched into viridus territory. The other side of the small town was claimed, and the legions marched onward. Gagium banners were waved across the hordes of Gagium soldiers, and slaves dragged catapults (around 40 total).

Neo Phoenicia
It was a warm day and the water was calm, the Crown Prince looked down from the palace onto the land below. The Saint Brendan dockyards were bustling with with the ships of merchants, Neo Phoenician and Foreign, bringing exotic goods from every possible place across the world. North of the dockyards was situated was the market district was packed like always with merchants and Neo Phoenician civilians looking for good deals on exotic products. The Neo Phoenician City State sat on a well protected natural harbor and has a small, rich, population of 12,000. On top of the highest point sits a large bastion where the Crown Prince resided. The center of the city lies Saint Barbara's Cathedral, the church is the largest and by far the most grand construction in the city.

He backed away from the window, and sat down at a large table. The doors to the room opened and a tall man wearing extravagant clothing walked in and sat down. He greeted the Crown Prince, "How may I help you?" suggested the prince, the man smiled and said, "I was hoping you could allow me to charter two ships and 80 men to take advantage of a colonization opportunity. To the east of here, across the sea, is an area of unclaimed land!" The uninterested Prince responded, "Why?" The man said, "Well, for you new land, new people, under your control, for me increased business opportunity!" Still not interested the Prince responded, "When, how will you plan this, and is 80 men really enough to clear an area of land out of anyone living there, yet alone build an entire trade port?" The man coughed and said, "I will be providing 80 more men and woman that have pledged to work for me and colonize the new land." "30% of all profits for a year and it's a deal." said the Prince, he agreed and they shook hands."

"He sent his chief of military to fetch the men, ships, and required supplies."

January 14. 1113
Dobrobyt City, Dobrobyt

The leader sits at the Almighty Hall, all alone. He prays and reasons through how to handle this time. He loves having some alone time, after all, it's good for him. That's the type of guy he is.

All of a sudden... he hears loud footsteps outside his door. Coming in is a scrawny messenger, the one from Lukier's small army.

"Sire, we have gained more territory. Townspeople across our borders were in trouble, held hostage by those no-good Islam ass kissers! We saved them, unlike their poor government, and we managed to take over the area! Magnificent, isn't it, sire? More for God, eh?", blabs the messenger.

"Settle down, my boy. What Lukier did was right. Under Dobrobyt rule, more will convert to God. I've just been praying, asking God to satisfy Him and His needs on this Earth. Just taking over isn't enough. We need preachers to head over there. Ride down to Bordertown, try to catch a preacher there. Understand? I depend on you, yes you.", says the Leader Paul Kypscyk.

"Yes Pau- sire! Any time, any day!", replies the messenger, humming away.

"Violet's Land", Cavair, Dobrobyt(about 30 miles south of Tahvere city limit)

It's time for another ritual down by the Holy Land of Violet down in the Cavair Mountains. The tribe of over 300 Violet cultists gather around the death location of the sacred Violet and her "teachings" engraved in the mountains.

"WE MUST MAKE ANOTHER SACRIFICE TO VIOLET TODAY, AND REPLACE THE SACRIFICE BY RERODUCTION!", yells the lead cultist, extremely loud. "WE SAW A YOUNG BOY HERE WHO WAS MISTREATING HIS ELDERS! THEY ASKED HIM TO BAKE FOOD? YET HE SAID HE CAN'T! I SAY EXCUSES!"

*the crowd violently cheers, as the boy is brought up to a fire, in chains*

"SACRIFICE! SACRIFICE!", chant Violet's followers.

The boy is almost at the fire. Crowd enthusiasm rises. But right there, an arrow is shot at one cultist who accompanies the boy. Then, another one. Then, an arrow is shot right at the cult leader!

The Violetists are so took by surprise that someone walked into their land, a Yellow as well! They snarl and yell, and throw their rocks into the direction. However, these sheep are no match for the explorer on foot. He throtttles back towards the city of Tahvere. It's time to put a stop to this cultist nonsense taking place in the South.

January 14th, Viridus Regnum:

"Rexileus Sir..." Says the General as he bursts through the door of the throne room.

"What is it General?"

"There's roughly 25,000 Gagium knights marching into our beloved Kingdom, I've just received this information."

"We've got 10,000 knights there now trying to destroy the Rose Thorn scum though, they'll hold them off for hopefully long enough for our reinforcements to arrive. As for the amount of knights in the reinforcements, send 25,000 more knights.

"Yes sir!"

"Wait, before you go, I want you to send a few messengers to our allies: North Wellwood and The Miau Reich. Also, send a messenger to Waldensia and see if they'll help us."

Okay sir!"

The Rexileus turns to face the window as the General exists the throne room, What shall I do, what if I fail to protect my people? My Kingdom...

Viridus village, occupied by 10k enemy knights: 8:00 PM

"Well shit. Wasn't inspecting company, to say the least.." an officer that helped coordinate the catapults said, peering at the village. "Couple thousand knights at the least. We should clear them out within a day, but it'll certainly hinder our plans in the long run."

"Relay this at once to the King!" the Lord of Roston said. At once, the soldiers began whispering the message all the way to the king's location.

"Couple thousand knights at the village, sir." the last soldier spoke.

"Alright, thank you knight." King Frederick responded. "Raiding formation at once: Two divisions head into the village, while the other two each flank from the side and fire their arrows. It's preferable that they're lit on fire. Get the catapult men to stay behind with the archers of Legions II and IV. Legions I and III will flank. How behind are the two follow-up legions, soldier?" the King asked.

"Reportedly a day behind, your majesty." the soldier replied.

"Excellent. At nightfall we attack." the King ordered. "Relay this message to the other divisions."

The messengers that accompanied the king scurried off in all directions on horseback at his command. Twenty minutes later, two of the legions were marching on the village, and the other two were flanking whilst launching their flaming arrows. The catapults fired at the enemy-occupied village over the heads of the Gagium soldiers, rushing to the village. The knights entered the village and began swinging their swords at the enemy. Meanwhile, the flanking divisions stopped at the sides of the village and continued firing their flaming arrows, while the division knights and swordsmen stood ready to counter an enemy charge.

As the king entered the village, he suddenly ordered, "Make sure no man escapes. Also, relay to the border legions to behead in public any Viridusian that comes across the border."

A citizen from the northern territory runs towards the king of Libervalley.

“Sir….. (breathing heavily) The north is being taken by Lukier and his army”

“This is preposterous” exclaims King Thomas.

“Gather my army and best knights. We will confront them and take back our land.”

“Order the remaining men to build forts along the river. Assemble the navy with a detachment of the army and set sail for the southern unclaimed territory.” (Territory 22)

January 16th 1113, Viridusian Village:

The Viridusian knights readied themselves as the Gagium soldiers rushed the village. They had only an hour to prepare themselves though because a knight spotted figures off on the horizon. Now it was happening, the Gagium soldiers were rushing the village just as the scout had predicted. The Gagium soldiers were killing dozens of knights as they charged into the village.

The knights were now being pushed back, they faintly heard, "Make sure no man escapes." A Viridusian knight suddenly shouted out, "They're circling behind us!" The Viridusian knights turned to look behind themselves and indeed, Gagium soldiers were trying to get behind them and cut off their only exit. The few thousand Viridusian knights organized a push towards the exit, they're only chance of escaping was slowly closing.

Suddenly, as if God sensed that the Viridusians would lose the battle, the knights could hear a war-cry, thousands of bandits rode over the nearby hill all with the banner of The Order of The Rose Thorn. If there was one thing they hated more than Viridusians, it would be Gagiumese. Members of The Order rode in slashing at Gagium soldiers. The surprising help from The Order allowed the Viridusian knights to escape from the village.

There were only 2,537 remaining knights as they fled the village. They must be sending reinforcements. "Knights, we shall flee to the nearest fort, hopefully we can regroup with reinforcements before then and counter the attack." And so they did, they would have no idea what would happen to the bandits of The Order.

Assembling the Army

Postby Libervalley » Thu Sep 14, 2017 3:20 pm

January 16, 1113

Knight Roberts enters the kings chamber.

"Sir..... we have assembled an army of 100 archers, 200 swordsmen, 10 knights and 100 Calvary to shadow Lukier's 200 soldiers on the other side of the river."

"There are 50 archers, 100 swordsmen, 5 Knights and 25 Calvary headed to the northern territory to retake it from Lukier's 30 men."

"We have 100 men each working on 4 forts along the river. Each fort is guarded by 1 knight, 25 archers and 25 Swordsmen."

"The navy has left port with 20 ships. There are 500 settlers, 100 archers, 100 swordsmen, 25 Calvary and 5 knights"

"I gave orders for them to take the unclaimed delta territory and establish a settlement."

King Thomas stares for a minute listening Knight Robert.

King Thomas rises....

"Very good my knight, we will preserve Libervalley and expand across land and sea."

Saint Brendan Dockyards
The day was slow near the water front, two small Neo Phoenician warships sat at the docks, quickly being loaded with food, weapons, and building materials. For Neo Phoenician land companies, (Each with twenty men), along with 80 more people willing to colonize. They were ready, the sails where lifted on both ships, and they slowly started to drift forward.

They left the harbor, and started to head due, southeast.

New Dobrobyt territory

Spies were sent out across the nearby land early that day to look for trouble. Lukier was ambitious, but careful. Now, he must wait until the lone spy comes back.

Later that night, the spy is back. He has reports, and as-expected, Libervalley has deployed forces to attack, and a lot. With the 200 or so soliders(but skilled) available, they needed more warriors. About 10 of those were sent back near Frontgate and such cities to rally support and fighters. After all, even peasants were seen fighting on the Libervalley side.

190 knights, and maybe a day until hell may break loose. Lukier prays to God before sleep, so that he would get a large number of reinforcements. It's one war, but more are needed. Nearby roaming groups need to unite to get rid of the Muslim(what they thought) Libervalley, or convert it. Lukier cannot damage his reputation, and his service to God.

A young guard was on patrol on when he heard fighting, he rushed over and to see what was happening and to know what was going on, it seemed like just a normal drunk fight, common this late at night but as turned the coroner it was much worse

A man lay dead and was still bleeding heavily, he rushed over to see if he could be saved but it was too late. as he searched the man, he thought he heard something, probably just a...

Slash, the man neck was sliced open he drop to the floor, dead and as he did so the last thing he heard was "God, forgive me"

Libervalley-Dobrobyt warzone

With 190 of Lukier's soldiers and another scouting group coming to help with 250 people, Dobrobyt is all set with a mix of archers and sword fighters.

The approaching large Livervalley army charges as well as Dobrobyt's. Dobrobyt chants "FOR GOD AND HIS DUTY!". Surprisingly though, Libervalley also chants "FOR GOD!!"

Nonetheless, out of instinct, the battle continues. Some soldiers were confused by the pro-God chants, they thought this was a Muslim territory. They did not know Libervalley was also Christian. Lukier didn't stop though. Land is land. The residents and citizens here need a new protection.

It continues for a long time, maybe 7 more hours, yet it is not certain who is winning.

After disengaging Libervalley's Calvary sweeps across the right flank pinning Lukier's army to the river.

All the men were on edge as there was a cease in the fighting.

Knight Robert with two guards by his side came riding toward Luckier with a white flag.

Knight Robert announces "This is the sovereign land of Libervalley. Ye shall all be spared if ye crosses the river and returns to whence they came."

Knight Robert waits for a response.

As the N. Wellwoodian Knights observe Unicity, they start to slash Muslims who come out. Eventually, Muslims in Unicity starve as no one who sets out to get food comes back. Seeing this as a moment to strike, the knights yell their best battle cry, and run toward Unicity.

Viridus village: 1:00 AM

The flaming arrows kept coming down, but it seemed like the enemy was retreating.

"Tell the legions to stop firing their arrows!" a knight yelled out. Eerie silence broke out as the battle ended...or so they thought. A horde of thousands of poorly-armored people that can only be described as "bandits" suddenly rode in on horses. Confusion ensued as the Gagium forces hacked at the poor Order of The Rose Thorn members. However, the Viridusian forces managed to escape.

The Gagium knights and swordsmen escaped the village, signaling the legions to resume their firing. A group of hundreds of burning arrows headed towards the village, causing shrieks as the order members caught on fire or were burnt. The catapults also resumed fire, and boulders fell on houses and the enemy.

"They're weakened. Ride back in!" King Frederick commanded. The knights rode back in, hacking at the order members. A couple thousand of them, a decent portion of them wounded, rode out of the village as the Gagiumese entered.

January 17, 1113
Viridus village: 7:00 AM

The result of the battle became clear as the sun rose. Corpses of order of the Rose Thorn members laid about in the village and some of the villager's houses were destroyed or damaged from the fight. However, the Gagiumese still won, and that was all that counted. The knights began ransacking the village as the servants helped raise the Gagium banner in the village square. Survivors of the Order were executed in public, and their corpses were burnt as crowds of Gagium soldiers cheered. King Frederick, watching their executions, became curious as to how many Gagium losses were suffered. He asked a messenger, "Around how many of our men died?"

The messenger handed King Frederick a scroll of paper:
SURVIVORS:
Knights: 2500/4000
Swordsmen: 3600/8000
Archers: 6900/8000
Servants: 5500/8000

TOTAL: 18500/28000

January 17, 1113
Viridus village: 1:00 PM

After the ransack of the village, the survivors ate a celebratory meal in the city center, grabbing chairs and tables from the village and stealing whatever food they could find, also using their own food supply. After this meal, the two follow-up legions (14000 men total) were visible from the horizon, Gagium banners visible. The survivors of the four head legions waved, celebrating the victory even further and the follow-up legions' arrival.

In Capital of N. Wellwood, The king is humbly sitting on his throne, listening to the rain during the night.

That is until the doors open to reveal a wet cat with a scroll in its mouth, it then walks to the throne and bows.

"King of N. Wellwood, Gagium is attacking Viridus! The king need our help."

"Oh?" said the king, "The infidel is attacking you?"

"Yes. The king is asking for your help."

The cat messenger opens his mouth to let the scroll roll out, and unrolls it.

"This is a map of Gagium, the king says that he doesnt want any land, but is offering you it."

The King took a while to think. "Very Well then. Go back and tell your king that my troops will set foot in Gagium soon."

"Alright. Said the cat, picking up the scroll, and preceding to the doors.

January 15th, 1113
Location: Port Vaudois, Pianura, Kingdom of Waldensia

Lord Bern stepped off the longship onto the pier. As the rowers stacked oars, he walked toward the buildings adjacent to the shipyard, handing his helmet and gloves to his squire.

He turned aside into the second office, opening the door, and stepping into a room with several other naval officers. "Greetings, Lord Bern," said one of the men. "What news do you bring us?"

Bern shook off his heavy sea-coat, which the squire took from him and hung on the pegs by the door. "We trailed that fleet for three days, following them as they made to the south. Several times they sent galleys who attempted to give chase, but we outran them with ease. I am of the belief that they have made landfall in the territory to the south of us."

"Your hunch may well be true, Lord Bern," nodded one man. "We have heard tale from the south of bloodshed along the sea. Several fishing villages are rumored to have been wiped out in the past weeks, with few survivors. It seems that this fleet you came upon may not have been the first."

Bern frowned. "If that is the case, then we should put the southern fleet on alert, and double the patrol. I will not have us caught off-guard. Dispatch a swift rider to Valdenton Castle to inform the King."

Location: somewhere beyond the southeastern border of the Kingdom of Waldensia

26-year old Henri of Arnaud shifted in his saddle as he pulled the scarf tighter around his face. The recent snow-storm had let up a two days ago, but the cold air remained for now. He and his small band of scouts were on a special mission, ordered by the King, to gather intelligence in the wild, ungoverned land to the southeast of Waldensia. With a wave of the hand, he turned his steed down the hill, his men following behind.

At the last village they had passed, Henri had sent on of his men in alone. He returned with stories from the villagers of a marauding menace that had landed from beyond the sea before winter set in. This was better information than they had previously been able to gather. A more clear picture was beginning to form.

They continued their trek southward, seeking to discover the truth about this rumor.

After weeks of fighting, Unicity was captured.

That was when someone with a scroll came into the city, and said, come back to N. Wellwood and Regroup! Viridus need us!

So they did.

February 1st, 1113
Piedmont, Pianura Province, Kingdom of Waldensia

The gathering of army officers stirred as Henri of Arnaud stepped to the front, beside the king's chair. The conference had been convened to discuss the latest military developments and the course that Waldensia would need to chart in response.

News had come to Waldensia of war between Gagium and Viridus to their south. Rumors of another war on the other side of the continent had also come in, in addition to the mysterious fleet sighted off the Waldensian shores and stories of a foreign force to the southeast. Henri had just returned from a fact-finding mission to that region, and was preparing to inform the gathered nobles and officers of his discoveries.

King Peter III waved for silence. "And now, we shall hear from Henri of Arnaud of what can be found beyond our border to the southeast." Henri nodded to the king.

"Sire, I have only but arrived a few hours ago from the south, where my men and I have been scouting. I bring grave tidings. The rumors we have heard are true - a large, nay, a massive force has landed and seized large portions of territory on the Peninsula. From the information we gathered, several dozen villages and small towns have been burned to the ground with few survivors."

"This great horde is foreign to these shores. They are comprised of members of the Muslim religion, a sect led by one al-Sirraci, and calling themselves Saracens. They landed with a very large military force as well as a colonizing contingent. Any who do not convert to their religion are put to the sword, often after great suffering and indignities."

"I estimate their forces to be well over 400,000 fighting men, with perhaps as many as 150,000 colonists. They have secured a region for their colonists, and are even now spreading north and west like wildfire, sending columns of cavalry and footmen out to ravage the countryside, pillaging at will. Their nearest force is by now just 5 days hard-ride from our border."

Lord Bern stepped forward at the king's nod. "What Henri says is in line with what my scout ships have found. Their navy is comprised of perhaps as many as 600 vessels, with many galleys larger than seen before in these waters. They are even now pressing closer to our vessels and shores."

King Peter stood. "Gentlemen, the time has come for Waldensia to mobilize. We shall not be caught flat-footed by this new peril. I order the full active and reserve forces to be called up and report for duty with the week. We will defend the Kingdom against any foe who dares venture against us."

Dobrobyt

Spies from Reingrad visit Northern Dobrobyt, Ucimity, to see what has happened. Citizens are rebuilding, along with burning Muslim flags. One spy creeps up to the Town Hall of Ucimity and watches through a window.

".... along with this disgusting act, we have paid back revenge. We have already taken over a part of Libervalley, and sent our soldiers and priests across the islands to spread the message of God. They are armed too, and we might as well annex some land. If those tribal fools fight, they will be blasted off the island.", speaks confidently the Mayor of Ucimity, with a messenger whispering to him the Leader's words.

The spies creep back. This is trouble!

(translated)"Oh no! They have sent spies... they could have possibly reached us already! We must go back!", states one spy to the other.
(translated)"Yes, this is all we really need. We are trusted men, nothing else needs to be done or shown except our words.", reassures the other.

Reingrad

Dobrobyt soliders have arrived in Naushtashakee about 3 days earlier, after settling and taking the rest of the land. After a brief fight, the Reingrad natives see they are outnumbered and that even for Bahr, there is no point to fight further. Naushtashakee is surrendered to Dobrobyt.

"Ah, now. You must convert away from Bahr, and to God, now under Dobrobyt!", says the lead General in the Dobrobyt group.

"Yes, my children, repent and confess your sins, and He will save you!", elaborates a priest.

As some citizens say no, they are tried further, yet no physical action is done. With the leaders however, it is much more brutal.

"Do not spread your false teachings any further, or you shall be punished by God's hands!", chimes a priest.

"No, Bahr is the light. Bahr is who we, as a democratic society work fo-", a tribal leader explains.

"SILENCE!", yells a knight, as he whips the leader. This treatment is continued on many of the leaders, with only two out of the 9 still not surrendering to God. Some citizens still did not believe in God, but Bahr, but the generals know the leaders are who influences these people.
